Can I install to instance of the same LabVIEW version

Hi,
I 'd like to know if I it is possible to install 2 instance of the same version of LabVIEW on the same computer.
because my LV8.5 licence has expired i'd like to install a demo LV8.5 version and I 'd like to know if I can install both onmy computer
Thanks
Olivier

Probably not, because they are both the same thing and just differ in the activation state.

  • How to install several instances of the same application on a computer?

    Hej,
    I have an application in LV 2009, where I have created an installer. The installer installs to a directory called \Receiver relative to the Program Files directory. If I install this once to a computer, everything is OK.
    However, I want to install the same application twice on the same computer. There should be no conflicts between the two applications, since I can configure them to work on different directories and ports. But if I call the installer again, and selects another directory, nothing is installed and I get the message "Installation Summary - No software will be installed or removed". It seems like the installer ignores that I have selected another directory, and just uses the default directory, relative to the Program Files directory.
    Anyone knows the trick, how to install several instances on the same computer ?

    Hi Jan,
    This is so because each installer has a GUID that is used to check whether the application needs to be upgraded or not. (It's a Microsoft function).
    What you can do is create a new installer with a different GUID (copy the installer in the projects), and check witha  text editor whether this GUID has changed.
    But any specific reason you need two seperate installs? You can run the application twice with a specific INI token:
    allowmultipleinstances=True

    I try to open multiple instances of the same LabVIEW top level VI, After search some messages in the forum,I know it should use vi template, But error 1127 still occurred when i used template(In my program, Click menu file->new). The information about error 1127 is  "Cannot instantiate template VI because it is already in memory".
    Here is my code. can any one help me? Thanks.

    Hi,
    You are trying to obtain a path from the VI location but the VI has no location because its an instance of the VIT and therefore the path is <not a path>.

  • How can I stop two instances of the same application?

    I have just installed Yosemite about a week ago on my MacBook Pro mid '10 and it's working great except for one little glitch.
    Whenever I double-click on a file in my Finder, not only does it open in the assigned dock Application, but a second instance of the same Application pops up on the dock out of nowhere. To be more clear, I have my PDFs set to Preview. I click on a PDF in my Finder and Preview starts jumping. Out of nowhere, another copy of Preview springs up on the dock and starts jumping as well. This opens that same PDF twice on my screen.
    I noticed this also happens when I'm installing a .dmg file. Two installers open at the same time when I double-click the icon.
    It doesn't happen if I right-click > Open or right-click > Open With.
    Any thoughts?

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
    Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
    While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
    Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
    After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
    *Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
    Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
    Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
    Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
    Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
    The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
    Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
    After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • How can I open multiple instances of the same version of FF?

    I understand that if I have multiple profiles, I can run different versions of FF side-by-side (like 3.6 and 4).
    However, what I'm interested in is how I can launch multiple instances of the same version of FF (4, for instance) using the same profile. In other words, I want to be able to double-click the desktop icon for FF, and open a new instance, and keep doing that as many times as I want. I don't want to have a different icon and profile for each instance (too much overhead to keep a dozen+ profiles in sync).
    I can always launch one FF window instance, and then keep clicking ctrl+N to launch new instances from inside it, which they all share the same profile (as I want). So, basically, I want to be able to do that from my desktop icon, rather than by having to do it with the keyboard ctrl+N sequence.

    But I don't understand why whatever Firefox does when you click ctrl+N can't also be done (with some sort of command-line switch) from a desktop icon?
    In other words, I clearly can create many FF instances (even if they are the same FF.exe process) by doing ctrl+n a bunch of times. Why then can't this behavior be done from a desktop icon with some parameters?
    As far as I know, FF is the only browser that doesn't directly allow multiple browser instances from desktop icons. IE, Chrome, Safari, Opera, etc... all let me launch a new instance (even if they are all single process and the instances are shared within the process).

  • Installing multiple instances accessing the same database

    Hi,
    I want to install two different instances of Oracle 10g in two different machines which will access the same database which will be stored in the shared storage.
    Is it possible to install them without installing RAC? The instances will be one active and the other passive, so the services will be up in one server and down in the other and the switching (shutting down one server and starting up the other) will be manual.
    Two servers will be running Linux and clustered in Linux level.
    Does Oracle offers this solution without installing Clusterware software?
    Thank you

    > The instances will be one active and the other passive, so the services will be up in one server and down in
    the other and the switching (shutting down one server and starting up the other) will be manual
    Missed this part as I was thinking proper cluster and RAC.
    This is neither. Yes, this can be done using two servers and shared storage.
    Is it a good idea? Not really. As this configuration does not provide redundancy at physical database level. You loose that storage.. bye-bye database. Does not matter whether you have a 100 backup servers that can be used.
    Thus the business reasons that you are trying to meet with this config have to be clarified and expectations determined.
    Separate servers using Data Guard will be a far more superior solution in many respects.

  • How do I install two instances on the same Server and avoid a conflict?

    Hi,
    I have one Server and I want to install two instances of SQL Server on it.
    1. Will be a default instance.
    2. Will be a named instance.
    The Server has an IP address of 192.168.0.10 and the default instance will be using port 1433.
    I want them to share the same address, but be listening on different ports.
    Do I,
    1. Go into TCP/IP of the named instance and set the port numbers for all the IP's to a port number, e.g. 1976?
    2. Delete the 0 from the dynamic ports sections?
    3. Create an open port rule in the Windows Firewall to allow access to the Server?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Please see following Microsoft link

  • How to install PI instance on the same server that has Solution Manager 4?

    I am planning to install PI 7 on a windows 2003 server that has Solution manager 4 running on it already.
    I am planning to install an additional Oracle instance and put PI on it.
    What are the steps involved?
    Please advise.
    Thanks and regards,

    Barry,
    I went throught this link when I firt tried MCOD. may be the mistake I did was that I tired installing two separate instances like Sol Man and XI into the same oracle database. it used to fail at the step of Creating table Spaces.
    I tired this when I saw some docs on MCOD (I think from IBM).
    May be the approach was wrong.
    Let me try this new method of installing two different Oracle instances and put Solution manager on one and XI on the other.
    I will update you some time today.
    Thanks for the help so far.

  • Can I install multiple instances of the Adobe PDF printer driver?

    Our application allows printing to be directed to different folders depending on the document to be printed.  However, the Adobe printer driver printing preferences directs the file to a specific location, so we have to store all documents in one folder.  Is it possible to have multiple instances of the printer driver, for instance Adobe PDF 1, Adobe PDF 2, with the output folder set to a different location for each driver, or is there a simpler way of specifying the output folders?
    Thanks

    (Instructions for XP Pro and Acrobat 8.0)
    Open the printers folder and click on Add a printer.
    Click Next on the Welcome screen
    Select 'Local Printer attached to this computer', uncheck Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer, click Next
    Click on Create a new port, select 'Adobe PDF Port' from the list, click Next
    Select the folder you want the PDF stored in, click OK
    On the Install Printer Software screen click on Have Disk
    Click on the Browse button and browse to 'Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\Acrobat\xtras\AdobePDF' (May be different for your setup)
    Select the AdobePDF.inf (English version) and click OK
    Select the Adobe PDF Convertor (there may be several listed, I always choose the top one) and click Next
    If the Use Existing Driver dialog is displayed select 'Keep existing driver' click Next
    Name the Printer i.e. Adobe PDF 1, click Next
    Set the sharing options, print a test page if you wish and finish.
    Now when you print to this printer from within an application it will create the PDF in the specified folder
    You can repeat this process for a number of outputs.
    Hope this helps

  • HT5622 I have verified my Apple ID several times on my Iphone but a can not install APP updates?  The same Apple ID works fine on my Ipad for updates etc.???

    I have verified my Apple ID several times on my Iphone but can not install APP updates. Everything work fine on my Ipad using same AppleID ect.?

    Sign out and back into your apple id from Settings>iTunes and App stores>(Your apple ID)>Sign Out and then sign in again with the new address. Close app store from running in the background (or restart the phone if your unsure how to do this). If when trying to update any apps they are still asking for the old apple ID, delete and re-install those apps.

  • How can I open multiple instances of the same folder and web browser in different desktops in Lion?

    I've selected "none" for association but it doesn't work. In other words, I have a Dropbox folder on my desktop. I'd like to be able to open that same folder using the same shortcut on different Lion desktops. However, whenever I try to use the same shortcut on a different desktop, it switches to the one where it's already open. Same problem with web browsers; if I try to just click on a web browser to create a new window, it will take me back to the other desktop.
    I didn't have this problem before I had to replace my hard drive and update everything again. I am aware of the "restart Finder" option as well as associating programs with individual desktops. All of the things in question are currently selected as "none."
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    I just set Safari's option to None. That is I right clicked on the dock, selected options, and chose none. Also, in Mission Control's tab of System Preferences I clicked Off When switching to an application, switch to a space with open windows for that application. That let me open a new Safari window no matter what desktop I was in. But I had to do both. Just setting the desktop option to none didn't seem to do it. Finder seems to work okay with just the none option set.

  • How many macs can I install Lion on using the same Apple ID?

    What's the limitation? I have two Macs I would like to upgrade to Lion. I know Lion is cheap but it'd be nice to just pay one license for my two MBP's.

  • Multiple application instance on the same server instance

    Can we have multiple instances of the same application on a single WLS?? For ex, can I have two app.ear files in different application directories??

    Hi Nilesh,
    Can you please clarify your landscape as this will help in getting answers to your question.
    In general adding instances (and/or server nodes) should be considered for increasing capacity rather than impoving performance. Specifcially, adding instances (and/or server nodes on the same host you risk a situation where the processes compete for resources which will have a negative effect on performance. If you do need to combine instances on the same host, make sure there is enough hardware (specifically memory in case of JAVA).
    Hope this helps,
    Best regards, Walter

  • Cant open external links and multiple instances of the same profile.

    I have multiple firefox profiles.
    I constantly have two profiles running at the same time.
    I use microsoft outlook and see an external link, I click it wishing firefox to open it in the default or new browser. It does not and says "FIrefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system."
    Firefox is running fine.
    How can I open external links with a profile based setup?
    Also, how can I open multiple instances of the same profile? I find that if I click and drag a tab to another monitor, it opens a new "instance" or browser window.

    You say
    ''I have multiple firefox profiles. <br />
    I constantly have two profiles running at the same time. ''
    So you will have discovered ''-no-remote'' Note NOT to use that on the default browser; profile, only on secondary profiles.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_in_use#Common_causes
    You will NOT be able to open multiple instances of the same profile, clone the profile if necessary.
    If you are trying to run multiple Webmail accounts in one profile then you may well find the webmail is identifying and setting the user account that is opened. Use a Private Browsing window to get round that and open a second account.

  • Deploy multiple instances of the same stateless session EJB

    I have a stateless session bean.
    The methods on the bean operate against DB tables.
    Q: Can I deploy multiple instances of the same stateless session bean, but specify a different JNDI/datasource name in the deployment descriptor?
    The method calls are all enclosed within a single invocation, just that I need to hit different databases (all with the same schema), and Id like to be able to lookup the EJB via a different JNDI name, and have the exact same functionality, just against different deployed datasources.
    Does the spec allow/support this?
    If not, any suggestions as to how to achieve this sort of functionality?
    Im using JBoss 3.2.1 on Solaris, so Im not sure whether or not this is a JBoss "issue" or a limitation of the EJB Spec (or me being just plain wrong and trying to do something the "wrong way")

    NickI haven't done it but judging from the deployment descriptors yes.
    For example if I have two bounded datasources java:/Database1 and java:/Database2
    Lets say I have a session bean called MySession, then in your ejb-jar.xml you would have (notice that the desc, display, and ejb-name are the only differences)
    <session>
    <description>MySessionAlpha</description>
    <display-name>MySessionAlpha</display-name>
    <ejb-name>MySessionAlpha</ejb-name>
    <home>com.mycorp.MySessionRemoteHome</home>
    <remote>com.mycorp.MySessionRemote</remote>
    <local-home>com.mycorp.MySessionLocalHome</local-home>
    <local>com.mycorp.MySessionLocal</local>
    <ejb-class>com.mycorp.MySessionFacadeBean</ejb-class>
    <session-type>Stateless</session-type>
    <transaction-type>Container</transaction-type>
    <resource-ref>
    <res-ref-name>jdbc/DataSource</res-ref-name>
    <res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
    <res-auth>Container</res-auth>
    </resource-ref>
    </session>
    <session>
    <description>MySessionBeta</description>
    <display-name>MySessionBeta</display-name>
    <ejb-name>MySessionBeta</ejb-name>
    <home>com.mycorp.MySessionRemoteHome</home>
    <remote>com.mycorp.MySessionRemote</remote>
    <local-home>com.mycorp.MySessionLocalHome</local-home>
    <local>com.mycorp.MySessionLocal</local>
    <ejb-class>com.mycorp.MySessionFacadeBean</ejb-class>

    <transaction-type>Container</transaction-type>

    <res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
    <res-auth>Container</res-auth>
    </resource-ref>
    </session>
    But now in the jboss.xml, we will have the following elements. What you may notice is that are bound to different remote and local jndi names. But the resource bindings are very different. The res-ref-name stays the same, but the jndi-name are different. I think this will work for you.
    <session>
    <ejb-name>MySessionAlpha</ejb-name> <jndi-name>ejb/com/mycorp/MySessionAlphaRemoteHome</jndi-name> <local-jndi-name>ejb/com/mycorp/MySessionAlphaLocalHome</local-jndi-name>
    <resource-ref>
    <res-ref-name>jdbc/datasource</res-ref-name>
    <jndi-name>java:/Database1</jndi-name>
    </resource-ref>
    </session>
    <session>
    <ejb-name>MySessionBeta</ejb-name> <jndi-name>ejb/com/mycorp/MySessionBetaRemoteHome</jndi-name> <local-jndi-name>ejb/com/mycorp/MySessionBetaLocalHome</local-jndi-name>
    <resource-ref>
    <res-ref-name>jdbc/datasource</res-ref-name>
    <jndi-name>java:/Database2</jndi-name>
