Can I install two different versions of Reader?

I have Reader X (10.1.1) installed on my Win XP machine but need to use Reader 9.3.4 (or earlier version) to read a CD that has pdf links from an html file. For some reason the pdf's on this CD will only open in the older version (as noted by the CD's author). Is it possible to install version 9.3.4 and have IE8 use this as it's Reader plugin without affecting the use of the existing Reader X? Is it possible to do this somehow?
Thanks in advance.

You can't have two versions of Reader on the same computer. However, there's no reason why the files should not open in Reader X (unless the creator spent a lot of effort to prevent that, which doesn't make sense at all).

Can I install two different iPhoto applications on the same Mac?

Please explain in more detail what you are wanting to do.
Do you want to have two different versions of iPhoto, have two different Libraries or Share iPhoto with multiple users?
Two different iPhoto versions (06 and 08, 08 and 09 for examples) is a problem and I say no because the older version can not use a Library that the newer version has modified.
For iPhoto support articles, see >  Apple - Support - Mac Apps - iPhoto

  • How can I run two different versions of Firefox, the latest does not work with an important site I need to use?

With the latest version of Firefox I cannot send "Quick Mails" to my students using the college's ANGEL system. I had to uninstall it and go to an earlier version. I prefer the newest rev.
Any way to run two different versions. It does not have to be simultaniously. Seems to be a problem on both my Mac and XP systems.
    Thanks,
    Kim

Currently I don't think there is a way to run two version of firefox at the same time. But you can install Firefox Beta or Aurora instead (which is build for future release for firefox) and help test it! Here's the link:

  • How can i deploy two different versions of the same application on the same server??

I have two different versions of an application. One is a released version. And another version under development. I need to port this version of the application to the same server. I'm using the same classes and packages(except for some new ones). Is it sufficient if i change the name of my ear(application name). Or should i change my code also.

    Hi
You can repackage the new versions of ear,jar and war with different names. I hope that should work well.

  • I wanted to get more RAM, but I want to be able to upgrade it later, can I install two different RAM cards?

I currently have 4GB in my Macbook Pro. I'm realizing that this isn't sufficient.  I like to edit photos and have Photoshop, Lightroom, and a web browser open at the same time.  I'm pretty sure that maybe 10GB of RAM will do (I'd buy one 8GB card and keep one of the 2GB cards already installed), so in case I would need to upgrade again I could buy another 8GB card. Is it possible to have two different sizes of RAM in the two bays?
    15-inch Macbook Pro (Early 2011) 2GHz Intel Core i7 4GB 133MHz DDR3

Yes, you can have two different RAM sizes in the slots. Apple doesn't recommend that, but it works. If anything make sure the RAM is the same brand. You'll need the standard 1333MHz DDR3 memory. See HERE for info on installing the memory yourself.

  • Can I install two different RAM sizes in my Early 2011 Macbook Pro 2.0 GHz

I just bought me a 8 GB 1333 Mhz RAM for my Macbook Pro. I installed it in slot 2 and I installed the stock 2 GB RAM in slot 1. Is my decision good to have two different sizes RAM in my computer. It is showing me I have 10 GB RAM in my system, and I think my computer has become little faster, but t I had expected that it would be much more faster since I have 10 GB instead of 4 GB.

    Boysovereign,
the speed of your MacBook Pro will only increase by installing additional RAM if the apps which you run were constrained by their previous amount of RAM. If they weren’t being constrained by the previous amount of RAM, then adding more RAM won’t affect the speed at which they run.
That being stated, you’ll suffer a minor performance hit by using two memory modules of different capacities; to maximize your MacBook Pro’s performance, you should install two memory modules of the same capacity.

  • Can I install 2 different versions of Flash CS on one computer?

Due to some bugs in Flash 5.5 I can not change some old projects.
I want to install an older version without those bugs but of course I want to use CS 5.5 for future projects.
Is it possible to install Flash CS 3 and Flash CS 5.5 on the same computer?
Where can I download Flash CS3 (the official downloadlink at the adobe site does'nt work)?

Yes. Just obey the correct version order or CS3 won't instal lafter CS5.5.

  • Can I install an older version of Reader on my iPad?

I have 4 iPads that we installed Aobe reader on approx. 6 months ago.  We thought we had locked down all of them to not update, but missed one.  The one that updated now no longer matches the training materials we created for the process the iPads are used for in our environment.  Is it possible to install an older version of Adobe on that one ipad?

Apple doesn't support having earlier versions of apps in the App Store.

  • Can I install two iTune versions in my Win2k?

Hi, a newbie here and hope this question is appropriate and not redundant (search turned up nothing).
My daughter has a 1st Gen mini and I have the 5th Gen video iPod, and would like to have iTunes 4.x for her and iTunes 6.x for me on the same PC where we have all of our music. It seems in theory both iTunes should be able to co-exist and correctly remember which iPod to respond to.
The PC now has iTunes 4.x working with the mini. So I was going to install iTunes 6.x on a different location on the PC and link my video iPod to it.
Is this a good idea or am I crazy?
Thanks in advance for the help,
    Peter

Hi, Just found this article in todays's Wall Street Journal which exactly addresses my question. I haven't tried their suggestion but will do so. The complete article is here:
    http://online.wsj.com/public/article/SB113702725503244355.html?mod=todaysfreefeature
But the pertinent section is posted below:
...in families with multiple iPods sharing a single computer, the iPod's companion software, iTunes, doesn't allow you to have multiple music libraries. With multiple libraries, each user could see only his or her own music, and could synchronize his or her iPod with that personal music library.
Suppose you want to synchronize only part of a library to a particular iPod, say mom's iPod, in a family with several iPods. You can place the songs mom wants into a playlist called, for instance, "Mom's iPod Songs." Then, when mom's iPod is connected, you can go into the Preferences settings in iTunes to designate that mom's iPod will automatically be synchronized only with the songs in that playlist, rather than all the songs in the library.
Or, you can go into Preferences to designate that mom's iPod won't be automatically filled at all, but will be filled manually. Then, you could manually drag all the songs she likes onto the icon representing her iPod within iTunes.
A better approach is to download a utility program called Libra, which comes in versions for both Windows and Mac. Libra, which costs $10 with an unlimited free trial period, is available at homepage.mac.com/sroy/libra. It allows you to create multiple libraries, and to switch among them.
You just run Libra, create a library -- for instance, Mom's Library -- and then select it. Next, you launch iTunes, and it comes up with only that library displayed. The first time you set up a new library, it will be empty. But you can just use the iTunes "Add to Library" command to fill it up with songs from your hard disk. You can then set up playlists that will be displayed only in that library. And you can synchronize the whole library to an iPod of your choice.
Multiple libraries can use the same songs without the need to store multiple copies of the songs.

  • Can You Have Two Different Versions of FCP On A Computer?

Maybe this has already been covered, but I can't find it...
I have FCP 6 installed on my MacBook, but the company I'm going to be doing work for next week needs me on FCP v5. Is it possible to install BOTH versions on the same computer without conflicts? Ideally, I'd like to leave the complete FCS2 on my computer but add/install ONLY FCP5 from the FCS1 disks.
Am I dreaming or must I uninstall FCS2 to reinstall FCS1? Or is there another option, such as installing onto an external drive?
    Thanks for your help?

While it certainly isn't recommened by Apple (and a few others) to keep multiple versions on one computer, many do and I haven't had any issues with it in the past. Here is a link that might be helpful.

  • How to install two different versions of Xcode??

    Hi All,
I have Xcode 5.1.1 already installed on my mac.I want to install Xcode 6 beta on my mac without removing the older versions. How can I do this??
    Regards.

Simple add/install Xcode6-Beta by name to /Applications and go - don't change the name. They are designed to sit side/by/side.
Just remember that both versions will use the same recents list of projects, so be careful using deliverables with the beta - always have a tested and reliable backup.

  • How to install two different version (7.3.4 and 8.0.4) on a server machine ??

    hi,
    I have this problem:
I must install on a NT server , in 2 different volumes , 2 different oracle version.
When i try to lunch the second listner service I got an error.
    How to solve this ??
    Thanks for all.

The error is because of port (defalut 1521 if you have not changed it) is under use.
You need to change the Tcp port number in
    <ORACLE_HOME>/network/admin/listener.ora file
if you want to start second listener.

The old "pop the DVD in, hold down Option or Command + C and just do a clean install on your new drive doesn't cut it?
As for SL, it has to be retail, can't be the OEM gray disc from another Mac specific model.
First, start up your computer from the Mac OS X Install DVD.
Insert the Mac OS X Install DVD.  After it mounts, choose System Preferences from the Apple () menu.
Choose Startup Disk from the View menu.
Select the Mac OS X Install DVD as the startup disk and click Restart.

  • How to install two different versions of firefox in same OS ?

please help as i need both of them
some plugins not working in the new one !!

Do a custom install and install each version in its own program folder to use multiple Firefox versions.
    * [[Custom installation of Firefox on Windows]]
Create a new profile exclusively for each Firefox version and create a desktop shortcut with -P "profile" appended to the target to launch each Firefox version with its own profile.
