Can I install WebCenter with Application Server 10.1.2.0 ?
Hi all
I have installed Application Server R2 10.1.2.0 (Infr + mid-tier)
to deploy some Portals .
and I would like to build & deploy my Applications JSF/ADF + Portlets
using Jeveloper 10.1.3.2 Studio Edition (JDeveloper + ADF + WebCenter Extension)
do I need to install Oracle WebCenter Suite 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.2.0)
with Application Server R2
OR JDeveloper 10.1.3.2 + AS R2 is enough
OR what ?
thanks
I think the question was about requirements to create and run WebCenter centric applications and portlets in general. Please correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the context of the question about reuse of an existing AS 10gR2 platform? This would only make sense if the existing platform could be used for any parts of the Webcenter application - JSF runtime and portlets. Webcenter has to be setup on a 10gR3 container so you have at least one 10gR3 instance involved - at least for the Webcenter app. So why should you have an interest to mix up your application architecture with a 10gR2 based portlet deployment
Also, if you want to use a 10gR2 container for your portlets you can only build portlets based on a 10gR2 PDK/portlet container. A 10gR3 PDK requires a 10.1.3.1 minimum release of the OC4J. Hence a 10gR2 for portlets doesn't make any sense for a Webcenter application.

Can't install Sun One Application Server 7 (Win XP)
When I run the setup.exe it shows me the following message at the windows console:
launching installer....Error writing native components to disk. Aborting wizard
Thanks. :)Since I am working on troubleshooting of this problem, I would very much appreciate if you could check something on the machine where you encountered this problem. Do you, by any chance, have a file called Documents on your home drive (most likely c:\documents)?
If so, and if you temporarily rename this file, does the problem go away?
Thank you in advance. -
Problem with Application server
Hi All,
I'm facing problem with Application Server. When I installed the appserver and started it.. It started with the message " server has been started and some services will run at back". But when I tried stopping it using the stop default server i got the message that there is no server running but when i saw in the task manager i cud see two process running 1) appserver.exe and 2) imqbroker(something).exe so eventually I had to kill it.
Now when I'm trying to start the application server again its giving me this message "CLI156 Could not start the domain domain1" and below is the log file attached if its of any help

Thanks in advance
AjayThe VERY FIRST message in the server log gives you a hint as to what the problem might be. The server thinks you have spaces in your PATH to the application server. Therefore, the solution is to kill the server however you need to (task manager, whatever) and then reinstall it in a path that doesn't contain spaces. That's the low-hanging fruit here; if that doesn't work, well, then we will have to find some other solution.

Problem with Application Server Portal 9.0.2.0.1.
I have a problem with Application Server Portal and Wireless 9.0.2.0.1.
Firstly I've installed the infrastructure on a Pentium 3 866Mhz 512Mb of Ram, with Windows 2000 Server (Italian) service pack 2.
I've maintained all predefined settings and I've chosen the UTF8 character set.
After installation, my infrastructure and OID works fine. The OID has port 4032 (as set by Oracle Universal Installer) instead of predefined 389.
After this I've installed Application Server Portal and Wireless on another host: a Pentium 3 733Mhz 384Mb of Ram, with Windows 2000 Server (Italian) service pack 2.
I've also maintained all predefined settings and automatic configuration of Portal and Wireless. I've pointed to my Infrastructure.
Try to test the Portal demonstration but an error occurred:
"SERVICE TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE. The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later."
On my EM Console I see: component instances 'OC4J_Portal' and 'OC4J_Demos' are UP, instead 'Portal:portal:7777' is down.
On the component lists I've clicked the link of component instance Portal:portal:7777, the 'control services' and 'Accessible Server SSO' are started, while 'Accessible Portal Repository' is down.
What can I do to get my portal started?hi,
i have exactly the same problem. did you solve yours?
any suggestions or help how to do it?
thanks

Webutil with application server 10.1.2.0.2
hello for all
how i deploy webutil with application server 10.1.2.0.2I think the question was about requirements to create and run WebCenter centric applications and portlets in general.

Install Fails With SQL Server Version - Status: Incorrect
Hi. I am working to install BPC 7 in a single server environment. During installation the setup diangostic detects a problem with [[Microsoft and 3rd Party Software]], below is what appears:
X - SQL Server Version
____ OK - Required: 10.0.1600.22 or higher

Under [[Computer Services Status]] SQL Server is alright:

What I've Checked so far:
- Collation
- Account for installation is SQL SysAdmin and a Windows account
- Mixed mode authentication
I should mention, this is a single server install on a 64 bit version of Windows, with 64 bit version of SQL.
Any experience, ideas or suggestions are welcome.

Edited by: jwainz on Mar 29, 2010 5:55 PMI think the clearest statement about this is on page 11 of the Master Guide (SAP BPC 7.0 M Master Guide at [http://service.sap.com/instguidesEPM-BPC]).
Look at the rows for OLAP Server and Microsoft SQL Server. In each of those, you wil find this statement:
"Can be 64‒bit when separate from Application/web services"
On page 10 in the Installation Guide, for look at the rows for Application server Web Server. The prerequisites are as follow:
App Server:
Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard or Enterprise Edition SP2 (32-bit) configured with NTFS, set to English (United States)
Web Server:
Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard or Enterprise Edition SP2 (32-bit) configured with NTFS
Finally, the PAM is a bit confusing. For product SAP BPC 7.0 FOR MICROSOFT, click on the tab Operating Systems and then click on the tab BPC Server. That is the software that you install for the Application Server and the Web Server server types. The Operating System Version listed is WINDOWS SERVER 2003/IA32 32BIT -
How to configure oracle 6i report server run time component with application server
we got oracle 6i report server for developing the web based reports for our undergoing product. we r succesed in developing the web based reports using oracle 6i report server. But we r facing problems while deploying the product with oracle reports at clients place, why because the client does not have the oracle 6i report server. To solve this problem we have to configure the oracle 6i report server run time component with application server at client side , but we are unable to configure this component(that is CGI handler).
You can run multiple instances of Reports Server in 6i.
In tnsnames.ora, for each server, have a different name and each listening to different port.
For example,
server1.world = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(Host = myhost.mydomain.com)(Port = 1949))
server2.world = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(Host = myhost.mydomain.com)(Port = 1950))
Also, if you want to know about Reports Server Clustering, you may refer to "Publishing Reports" document on OTN:

How to utilise forms installed in Oracle9i Application Server from client
Dear Friends,
I have installed Oracle 9i Application Server and Forms 5.0 Reports 3.0 in the application server. How to make use of application server so that forms installed in it available to end users, the client. What are the steps i need to do. Please explain.Forms 5 & Reports 3 in Developer 2.1 have been desupported for a number of years now. If you haven't already figured out how to get it working on the web, download the Forms & Reports Services Standalone version of the 10g Application Server. It has Forms & Reports properly configured after the instalaltion. Just look under the Demonstrations tab of the home page and click to run either Forms or Reports on the web. You can customize your setup afterwards for your application. Of course you'll need to upgrade your application.
You can find this download at:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/htdocs/101202.html
under "Forms & Reports Services Standalone"
It is a 1 CD download.
Cordially,

How can I test servelt with application at Tomcat?
how can I test servelt with application at Tomcat?
Assuming u have coded the servlet already there are certain things u need to do for exceuting the servlet in Tomcat,
1) Assuming u r putting the servlet inside the directory named 'Mywebapp' under webapps directory, u need to create directory named Web-inf under Mywebapp and classes under Web-inf.
Copy web.xml file from any of the webapps (like the example webapp) into mywebapp.
Copy any one of the sample servlet specification in the web.xml and customise for ur servelt.
then save the web.xml file and start the Tomcat.Am assuming u have included the mywebapp entry in the server.xml file.
then invoke the servlet like http://machinename:8080/mywebapp/servletname -
