Can i install Windows XP on new iMac 2013 to use quickbooks

I have just bought a new iMac 2013 and need to use my Windows Quickbooks programme for our small business. I understand that I can use Bootcamp to install my Windows XP and then Quickbooks 2010/11.
Is it true that the new iMac Bootcamp no longer supports Windows XP? I realistically only use the Quickbooks every 3 months. What is my best solution to be able to use Quickbooks on my new iMac

No. Boot Camp only supports Windows 7 or Windows 8. If you want to use XP, then you will need to use virtualization software such as:
Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
     1. Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business,
         Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7. Parallels is software
         virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently
         with OS X.

The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. 1. Buy the USB SuperDrive and install Windows from a disc.
2. Use an USB drive with the Windows 7 installer inside.
Boot Camp isn't compatible with Windows 8, so you will have to wait. Also, the Late 2012 is only compatible with the 64-bit Windows 7 edition

You can use the installation dvd from microsoft or you can download the iso file from microsoft and use that method instead.

If you have a Late 2012 iMac (without a built-in SuperDrive), you can use a USB drive to install Windows with Boot Camp and you shouldn't have any problem

I don't know first hand if you can use the Remote Disk option with Windows but as of 10.7.2 you can now use BCAssistant to make a bootable USB (thumb drive or external disk) W7 installer with the Boot Camp drivers installed also. Have you tried that yet?

Can I install Win7 Boot Camp on a 2013 rMBP using an External SuperDrive?

I've been looking around, but I haven't found any concrete answers.
The question is, is it possible to use an External SuperDrive to install Windows 7 on a Late 2013 rMBP? I have an install DVD I bought from my university store a few years ago, which I used with my previous (now dead) MBP that had an internal SuperDrive. I also already have an External SuperDrive, so it's not really a question of getting one of those. If not, I guess I'll go the route of converting the installer DVD into an ISO and boot from a USB, but I'd like to use the actual DVD if at all possible.

I understand that you want to install Windows 7 using an external optical drive with the Windows DVD. As long as the external optical drive is compatible with your MacBook Pro you should have no issues. Please take a look at the following article and use as a reference.

Can't install CS3 Upgrade on NEW iMac 24". An Imac DVD drive issue?

My CS3 Design Premium Upgrade CD fails to install Photoshop on my BRAND NEW iMac yet it is able to install everything else on the CS3 disc. I just bought this iMac yesterday and CS2/CS3 Upgrade are the FIRST things I installed (besides updates) when I turned it on. I'm still using 10.4.10.
I searched through the Adobe forums and the internet as to how others with the same issue have dealt with the problem, but it seems the most common reason is that people had installed Photoshop CS3 beta previously as well as older Flash/Acrobat plug-ins conflicting with the installation process. Further, these causes seem to be effecting Windows users.
So a few hours ago I tried to COPY the upgrade CD contents to my hard disk, I get the message:
"The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in 'AdobePhotoshop 10en_US.dmg' could not be read or written. (Error code -36)."
This procedure of copying to the disk (and the resulting error message) is SPECIFICALLY addressed in the Adobe support pages TechNotes:

The page says that it may be a drive issue that is causing the problem. Of the 7 possible solutions given on the page, I've narrowed it down to only 1 option left (but I can't try it since I don't have another Mac!):
"*Solution 4*: Copy the software to the hard drive of a different computer.
*If the software copies successfully, the model of DVD drive on your original computer might not be able to read the DVD. Contact the DVD drive or computer manufacturer for any updates that might be available.*"
But what's funny (or annoying rather) is, I had a 20" Alum 2.4 iMac earlier this year (returned because of screen problem), and the CS3 upgrade installed without any problems on it!..??? And according to the iMac specs, the 20" and 24" models both have the same DVD drive make right?
Any ideas??? Are there other 24" iMac users who are experiencing similar problems? If not, then I guess I may have to return yet another iMac...which I'm reluctant to do since this screen is PERFECT! I'm scared to get another iMac with the dreaded screen gradient issue.

I just solved the problem.
I tried copying the DVD files to the hard disk about 7-8 more times. The last try SUCCESSFULLY copied to the disk and I was able to install Photoshop CS3.

I'm about to take delivery of my new iMac (late 2013) with the following specs :
27-inch Core i7 3.5 GHz with 16gb RAM
256 GB flash storage (pure SSD, NOT Fusion)
I've googled and found that some say that Windows cannot be installed on the Fusion Drive due to the Fusion Drive containing an SSD portion.
I would like to install Windows 7 - is this possible to install on the 256 GB flash (SSD) drive ? I'm not buying a Fusion Drive with this iMac, just a pure 256 GB SSD/flash drive. Or must I install Windows on another separate, non-SSD drive ?

Unless you do high end gaming or very intense
3D graphics work, it will be much easier to simply
install a product like VMWare Fusion
(http://www.vmware.com/products/fusion/) or
Parallels Desktop Mac
(http://www.parallels.com/products/desktop/)
and create a virtual machine. Read up on these sites
to understand how a virtual machine works.
The advantage of this approach, the "PC" simply runs
as another window in OSX. No rebooting required.
If you really need the full performance of the iMac's
graphics for your Windows use, you can dual boot
by creating a new partition on the drive via Bootcamp

Be for warned, only Win7 and Win8 are supported by this

Try holding down the option/alt key during a restart and see if you can see/select your boot drive there.

I'm very new to the Mac world. I just purchased a lovely new iMac.
I would like to install my Windows XP Professional (SP3) on to my iMac.
I purchased Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac and before I do anything, I want to know what I should do first.
Do I install the Windows disk through bootcamp first and then install Parallels Desktop 5?
or
Can I bypass bootcamp all together and install Windows through Parallels?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

If you will never want to run Windows natively, then you don't need Boot Camp. Otherwise, install first on its own partition, get it setup, then Parallels, and only then activate. Or reactivate. After you have Parallels Tools installed.

Problems installing Windows 7 on new iMac?

I've heard from users on other forums that there are some problems installing Windows 7 on the new iMacs, mainly that the display goes blank partway through installation due to some kind of driver issue. Can anyone confirm this or elaborate? I've heard there is a workaround but it sounds a bit complicated and I'm wondering if I should just wait until Apple patches Boot Camp with full Win7 support.

Can't see Windows PC on new iMac but Windows PC can see iMac

My brand new iMac is up and running except I can not see my Dell Laptop running Windows. The strange thing is that my Dell Laptop can see the iMac just fine and I can access shared folders without any problems. My call to Apple support didn't leave me with a resolution so I figured the forums could provide better help. I can ping my laptop but nothing shows up in my network or in "shared". The closest we came was to go to a browser window and type in smb://(computer name of laptop). This provided only a temporary solution because it un-mounts after restarts, etc and then I have to do it all over again.

Well, I have narrowed the issue down to Snow Leopard 10.6.2. Leopard install works just fine. I tried a different router going to a D-Link 655 from a Linksys and the result is the same. The Mac can not see my Windows computers under the network but my Windows PCs can see and access the Mac just fine. I can ping my Windows machines and I can create a temporary mount using the smb command but that is a band-aid to the problem. The odd issue is that I can see them temporarily if I delete my network connection and then re-establish it. I guess the Google searches are correct...Snow Leopard did break SMB support. Apple...can you please fix this. The world does not just run on Mac.
