Can I install XSU utility in middle tier?

Assuming 3 tier arch. can XSU be installed in middle tier, with oracle9i on 3rd tier?
Does it really need oracle connection or can the resultset also used to get the xml without any connection to oracle?
What should I be careful, if I can and want to install xsu in middle tier?
Will it provide all the functionalities if it's on different machine and can connect to oracle?
Thanks!

You can use XSU in mid-tier. You need to have JDBC to connect to Oracle DB as XSU is the gateway for your to query and insert data into DB in XML format.

  • Installing a Forms & Report middle Tier (10.1.2) on a 10.1.3 farm

I have to install a new farm based on the 10.1.3 release. I will install the Infrastracture and one middle tier in two different Oracle Homes. The problem is that I need also Forms & Report Services, and we know that there will be no F&R services until release 11. The question is:
can I install a 10.1.2 middle tier instance on top of a 10.1.3 infrastructure (with a different Oracle Homve, of course)?
    Thanks in advance
    Rino

AS 10.1.3 doesn't have any infrastructure (as well as not having Web Cache etc). The latest full release is 10.1.2.0.2, which includes infrastructure and Forms/Reports. For Identity Management, I'd recommend the new 10.1.4.
As indicated above, the latest Forms/Reports release is 10.1.2.0.2 (patched to 10.1.2.2), which is the one you should use. You can install either the full Application Server 10.1.2.0.2 with Forms/Reports, or use the Forms&Reports Only release.

You have Infrastructure and middle tier is running in the same box. please consider the below steps.
Because middle tiers depend on OracleAS Infrastructure services, you need to ensure that the OracleAS Infrastructure services are started first, followed by middle-tier services. You can do this in the following ways:
1.Give the OracleAS Infrastructure an Oracle home name that alphabetically comes before the middle-tier name. (When you restart a computer, Windows typically starts up services in alphabetical order.) For example: name the OracleAS Infrastructure "Infra", and name the middle tier "J2EE".
2.Edit the registry (using the Registry Editor) to delay the start of the middle-tier services by setting up dependencies between the OracleAS Infrastructure and middle-tier services. You do this after installing both OracleAS Infrastructure and middle tier. See Section 16.6, "Service Dependencies" for details.

  • Can't install Airport Utility 5.6 in OSX 10.7.5

I have a 2005 Airport Extreme that I manage using an iMac running Mac OSX 10.7.5. I recently tried to access my airport to check the IP address. Airport Utility could not access the Airport and told me that I needed to install Airport Utility 5.6 to access the Airport. I installed AU 5.6 and tried to access the Airport, but this time was told that this version of AU does not work with Mac OSX 10.7.5. So I downloaded AU 6.2. On this third attempt to access my Airport, I was told that this version of AU does not work with this Airport  and I need to install version 5.6. I'm stuck. Does anyone have any suggestions (other than buying a new Airport, that is).
    Thanks for the help,
    Paul

Make sure you download it from this URL
AirPort Utility 5.6 for Mac OS X Lion
It should install without any difficulty.
AU 5.6.1 is for the latest AirPort Base Stations for systems running Snow Leopard.
    NB from the following
AirPort Base Station: How to set up and configure an 802.11g AirPort Extreme Base Station or AirPort Express in OS X Lion
If you are using OS X Lion and wish to set up or configure an older 802.11g AirPort Extreme Base Station, or 802.11g AirPort Express, manually download and install AirPort Utility 5.6. AirPort Utility 5.6 can be used to configure earlier 802.11g AirPort Extreme Base Station, and AirPort Express; it can also be used for 802.11n AirPort base stations.
To obtain and use AirPort Utility 5.6:
    Go to http://support.apple.com/downloads/.
Search for AirPort Utility 5.6 and download it.
Allow AirPort Utility 5.6 to install.
Open AirPort Utility from the /Applications/Utilities folder.
Note: If you are configuring or setting up a newer AirPort Base Stations that support 802.11n, you should use AirPort Utility 1.0 for iOS or AirPort Utility 6.0 for OS X Lion, or later.
You can have both AirPort Utility 6.0 and 5.6 in the /Applications/Utilities folder.
AirPort Utility 5.6 will appear in the /Applications/Utility folder as "AirPort Utility 5.6"
AirPort Utility 6.0 will appear as "AirPort Utility"

I try to install in my other mac (MB) and the packaged is installed without problem.
This text in chinesse of ADOBE AIR appears too when I try to install Adobe CS4,,, but in this the install succes without problems
Any idea why ADOBE AIR no let me install Bamboo dock?

Right in front of my eyes, eh? Well, yes, I did find iBod's suggestions, but they didn't work for me either.
I've also found many of your posts as well. Do you work for Apple, or are you some kind of professional freelance forum person? How's that working out for you?
Honestly, I would think that it is a reasonable expectation, even on Windows, that installing the latest version available on the company website should resolve any issues that might be present, and result in a working application. Something is clearly wonky right now, since 10.5.4 is clearly > 10.5.2, and it is a bit suspicious that the link on the website that says the Safari version is 3.1.2, actually points to a 3.1.1 installer, which for whatever reason, isn't doing the right thing or at least reporting a sensible error.
In any event, it would be nice if someone from Apple would monitor these forums from time to time and do something about it. Especially, since there is no obvious proper bug-reporting on the Apple site (only a hard-to-find Feedback section that seems to pipe directly to /dev/null). Oh well...

  • How to de-install Infra and Middle-tier properly?

    Dear All,
I want to clear the proper de-install concept of Infra & Middle-tier so please guide me for this.
    Thanks,
    Waheed

    Hi Waheed,
On the Windows operating system, you can run the Oracle Universal Installer (look in your Start menu) and de-install both an infrastructure and middle-tier at the same time (if they're on the same machine).
When the Oracle Universal Installer is done, you will have to delete the Oracle homes from your hard drive.
Not sure if it works the same way on Unix/Linux installations. . .

  • MTS Client Library Configuration (Case: Two middle tier servers)

    One of Oralcle document states:
    (a) If you need to configure Oracle Services for MTS on 2 middle tier computers (say #1, #2)then you have to install OraMTS on #1 middle tier system. The #2 middle tier system can use OraMTS which exists on middle tier system #1.
    (b) For achieving this you have to configure Oracle Services for MTS client library on system #2.
Can any expert provide more information about how to configure the step (b) above.
    My environment:
Oacle Services for MTS version: 8.1.7
    Database: Oracle 8.1.6
    Middle Tier: Windows NT 4.0
A fast reply will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    3) On machine 1 use the MMC snapin to create the Oracle service For MTS for database DB1.
    You mean below
    On machine 1>>
[start->programes-> oracle-oraHOME81->application development->oracle manager for microsoft transaction server]
    make new service for DB1.
    (oracleMTSService0 started)
    On machine 2>>
[oracle manager for microsoft transaction server]
    I add a new computer-"machine 1".
    Then automatically OracleMTSServices0 on
    "machine 1" displays.
and "Microsoft management console" dialogue box appears and ask save the change when i exit oracle manager for MTS. I choose YES.
    that's all?
    Am i right?
    On machine 3>>
    like machine 2.
You might be boring but Any documents offered by oracle doesn't say it clearly.
rf)) I read "using microsoft transaction server with oracle8-A73029".

We've installed BPEL in the Middle Tier AS configuration in a solaris environment. We're still working out the kinks. Can't seem to locate the BPEL logs for this configuration. Where do they reside?

  • Error Installing Airport Utility on OSX 10.8.2

I can't install Airport Utility on OSX 10.8.2 so that I can install Airport Extreme.  Error message says the version of Mac OS X is not supported.  What can I do? Easily!

You have to install AirPort Utility from the disc if you're using Windows on your PC, so that's because Apple doesn't say it. Also, you could have bought an old AirPort Extreme that includes an older AirPort version for another Mac OS X

    Thanks for the tip.
Correct me if I am wrong but you have set up SLED SP1 connecting to an OS like (RHEL 4/OEL 4,SuSE 9) using VMWare Server. What OS is SLED?
I chose SUSE 10.3 as its free and I want to set up apps server for purely training purposes. Do you know of a free linux OS that is certified to run AS 10g 10.1.2.0.2?

  • Groups vanish from OID when a new middle tier is installed for Portal - URGENT

    gurus,
we had the following portal environment -
    1. database tier (sun box #1) - oracle 9i database
    2. middle tier (sun box #2) - oracles 9iAS portal Release 2 with webcache option
now, we installed 9iAS on a third box (sun box#3) so we can have multiple apache servers.
after the install was done i logged into the portal to do a health check but, found that all the groups were missing.
i had following groups before bringing in sun box#3 -
    GRP_ADMIN
    GRP_BASE_USER and many others.
after the installation of third server i lost all the groups. it looks like the groups vanished away from the OID. i found the following -
    Owner.Table Groups exist ?
    (Y / N)
    PORTAL.WWSEC_GROUP$ Y
    ORASSO.WWSEC_GROUP$ N
could anyone reply on this pls ... its very critical cause all the user privileges has been lost due to this.
    thanx a bunch.

    Hi,
Just to close off this thread, I got this portal installation working. I think what made it work was adding an additional 512MB of memory to the machine in addition to the original 640MB.

  • How to install/upgrade Ultrasearch for AS Middle Tier 10.1.2.0.2?  DB 9208.

    Hi,
I am trying to understand the Ultrasearch from the point of view of my 10.1.2.0.2 middle tier. Here is my environment:
Our Metadata Repository and Portal Repository (Customer) databases are version 9.2.0.8. Recently patched to 9.2.0.8 from 9.2.0.7.
Our Infrastructure & Middle Tiers have been recently upgraded to version 10.1.2.0.2 from version 9.0.4.1.
Both the repository databases and the Infra and Mid tiers have their own Oracle Homes.
From what I read, Ultrasearch is installed by default with an Oracle Database. It is also available with Oracle Application Server.
With the version of Ultrasearch coming with our 10.1.2.0.2 AS being a later version than the one that came with the Database, I am trying to figure out how to install the correct Ultrasearch in our Customer (or Metadata ?) database.
The iasua.log from our middle tier upgrade says:
    ============================================================================
2009/07/16 12:27:20.478 PDT NOTIFICATION:1 Framework: Starting to examine UltraSearch.
2009/07/16 12:27:20.478 PDT NOTIFICATION:1 Framework: Finished examining UltraSearch with status: Success.

2009/07/19 19:12:25.579 PDT NOTIFICATION:1 Framework: Finished upgrading UltraSearch with status: Success.
    ============================================================================
But during the Metadata Repository Upgrade using MRUA, I saw the following error:
    ============================================================================
    Calling upgrade plugin for ULTRASEARCH
    Error: Component upgrade failed ULTRASEARCH
    ============================================================================
I can connect to the Ultrasearch Admin tool from the Application Server Console middle tier => portal page, and I see there that the version is 10.1.0.4.2. Ultrasearch has never been setup previously with our 904 environment. I see the WK_TEST default instance there that I can navigate around. My question is, how do I check and confirm that Ultrasearch has been installed correctly for my Application Server?
If I have to install a new version of Ultrasearch, what are the installation steps? Does Ultrasearch always use the Metadata repository database? Or can it be configured to use a customer database? I don't see a WKSYS schema in our Portal database. WKSYS exists only in our MR database.
As per the APP_REGISTRY in our MR database, the Ultrasearch component is version 9.2.0.8.0 and is INVALID.
I believe that Ultrasearch was an option prior to 10.1.2+ releases, but is required with the recent releases. Correct me if I am wrong.
I think Ultrasearch is installed for our AS environment. I don't know if it is valid.
Any help would be appreciated. I just need to confirm that I am good to go, to proceed and upgrade our Portal to version 10.1.4.
    Thanks.
    CV

Figured out that Ultrasearch was installed as a part of the Middle Tier install and was upgraded successfully during the Middle Tier upgrade.
    Thanks.
