Can I just ONCE sync my phone without losing the 39 gigs of music I have?? It never fails!!! I was thinking about buying my daughter an iPad mini this week, not so sure now. I've always had these issues, but this is outta control. I don't have the 4 full days it takes putting everything back on my phone. Thanks.
Oh, I had this problem a while a go.
I solved it by un-ticking the box that says "Sync Music" in the music syncing section for your device on iTunes then apply the changes (This could take a little while). Then un-plug your device and turn it off then back on. Then plug it back in, and let it back up and all the other stuff it has to do when you plug it in. Then turn on "Sync Music" again, then apply the changes. Un-plug the device and then turn it off and turn it back on again. See if that fixes all of your problems.

Yes. With iTunes open the menu bar is at the top of your screen.

When you are done transferring the data to the desktop, right or control click the iPhone under Devices left side of the iTunes window then click Back Up.
That way you will have a backup just in case you need to restore your iPhone. -
I Stupidly have one iCloud account but with two phones using it. How can I delete iCloud from my phone without deleting the account from my husbands phone. He needs the account on his but I dont want it on mine!
But does this delete the whole account from the cloud, or just from my device. I must make sure my husband doesn't loose all his business contacts which are in the iCloud device. Thanks.

How do I move pictures off my phone without losing the pictures permanently? Is there a way to keep the pictures in the cloud without them being on my actual phone? I'm concerned that the sync feature will remove the pictures from the cloud when they are deleted from my phone.

Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store -
HD failed, now I can't sync my phone without losing content on my phone
My Dell laptop HD crashed. Dell replaced it and after I reinstalled iTunes I can't sync my phone. I have authorized "the new" computer even though it is the same computer just with a new HD.
When I try to sync my phone iTunes tells me that it wants to delete my applications and music from my phone and replace it with what is on my computer, which is nothing currently. How can I get my phone to sync with my computer and not lose any of my data on my phone?By design, the iphone will sync itunes content with ONE computer at a time. ANY attempt to sync such content with a second computer will result in ALL itunes content being first deleted from your phone & then replaced with the content from the second computer. This is a design feature and cannot be defeated.
Your photos & music you ripped on your own will have to be extracted from your phone using third party software, as Apple makes no provision for this since it's expected that you maintain a backup. Your photos were reduced in resolution when synced to your phone to display on the phone. There is no way to recover their full resolution. You need to recover these photos & music before you proceed.

Next, disable auto sync when an ipod/iphone is connected, under preferences in itunes, which in Windows I believe is under the edit menu.
Next, go up to Store>Authorize this computer.
Next, make sure you have at least one contact & one event in whatever supported program you use for that purpose on your computer(Outlook, Windows Address Book). They can be fake, it doesn't matter.
Next, connect your phone. DO NOT SYNC at this point.
Right click the phone in the device pane & select "Reset Warnings".
Next, go up to "File", "Transfer purchases made on this ipod/iphone to this computer".
Your purchased music/apps will then be transferred to itunes. Music you ripped on your own will not. You'll have to restore that from your backup, which apparently doesn't exist, or use third party software already referenced.
Next, right click again & select BACKUP.
Next, restore your phone from the backup you just made.
This must be followed by a sync to restore your itunes content. Which is selected from the various tabs. You should get a prompt regarding your contacts & calendar asking to "merge" or "replace". Select "merge"
That's as good as it gets.

Iphone will sync or manually manage with one and only one computer at a time. Syncing or manually managing to another wilol erase the current content.

Can I Open Indesign File In CorelDraw Without Losing The Applied Effects?
i have been using Indesign for quite some time now and i have considerable experience in Corel too. My problem is that if i export an indesign file as PDF and then open it in CorelDraw, the file loses the effects i applied.
For example i apply blur effect on a picture in Indesign and after exporting it as a PDF, i open it in CorelDraw, the file would lose the Blur effect i applied.
I am confused how to retain the effects i applied in Indesign so that it shows up in Corel as well.I DO NOT wish to edit the file in Corel because the file would be transferred for printing purpose only.
Thanks in advanceAdobe and Corel products handle effects (like blur, or dropshadow, or even gradients) completely differently from each other. The only chance of having them move from one to the other is to rasterize any such effects before making the PDF (DO NOT save this over your original file!).
Note that I said it's a chance. Even these will be mishandled from time to time.

We are trying to restore a disabled Iphone 3. It does not have active phone service, but is used for apps. We know the correct passcode but my son entered it wrong too many times and it disabled. It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.
Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything on the new one.
The iphone is not a backup/storage device. It simply mirrors the selected content of the computer to which it is synced. Syncing to anophter computer will erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer. -

This is what is in the discussion. It really doesn't get any easier than this.
1) Without connecting your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes. Click on Edit. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
2) Now connect your iPad to your laptop and start iTunes.
3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your new laptop, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
5) After it finishes backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on Edit / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources. -

Without "pretending" to be yourself on the other phone (change settings) there's nothing else you can do.
iOS devices are meant to be single user and can't view iCloud.com the same way a Mac or PC can do.
You need to find a desktop or laptop machine (Mac or PC) to log in at iCloud.
