Can I just "view" instead of "download" in Safari

I look at a lot of pictures in email on web-based Gmail. I would like to just "view" them instead of downloading them. Is there any way to set Safari preferences or otherwise stop my download folder from filling up (and then I just have to empty it . . .) Mountain Lion on a MacBook Pro. Thanks!

it seems impossible in numerical arrays.
however, if you can accept outputs in string format, then you may check the input numerical array for zeros and replace them with empty strings.
does this makes sense??

You can just purchase Aperture 3. If you do this from the App Store it will cost you $80 US but this is still cheaper then buying the individual upgrades.

I have been experiencing serious issues with the pdf reader on the playbook.. the fact that its completely featureless (no search, no bookmarks, no highlighting) is almost minor compared to not being able to open pdf attachments in many cases. I'm not sure if it has to do with the encoding of the pdfs that I sometimes receive via e-mail, but they open fine on the laptop running adobe as well... I find it outrageous that a "business-class" tablet can not handle full and unlimited viewing/editing of the most commonly used document formats (this includes how remarkably featureless the docs-to-go software are). What do you do when you have your tablet with you and receive an e-mail but cant read the attachment pdf?
Is there any hope that the adobe reader is being developed, and an upgrade is in the works?
BTW I really like the PB, but these huge lacking features are causing more and more frustration as I attempt to use the device on a daily basis for the purpose that it should have.. only to find I can not Instead of android player, basic office functionality should be fixed. I read the ipad is getting an MS office suite next year?... pfff

To switch PCs, do I need the original install disk or can I just use the upgrade download and s/n?

I need to download my Acrobat 9 Pro on a new PC, but I cannot find my original product installation disk for Acrobat 8. I have my serial # and the download link for the Acrobat Pro 9 upgrade. Do I need to install Acrobat 8 first, and then download the upgrade? How would I do that without the installation disk?

You say that you have Mac OS X 10.7.5, so if it came preinstalled, see that you can't reinstall it because it's registered to the old owner. Call Apple to get replacement DVDs

Can I just view one account alias in mailbox?

I have 3 account alias's on my .mac mail account. Is there anyway to see only one account name in the mailbox? I don't like having all three in the same mailbox.

Messages addressed to your .Mac email alias will arrive in your .Mac account Inbox mailbox which can't be changed.
Only an account has a separate named mailbox under Inbox, Drafts, Sent, Trash and Junk in the mailboxes drawer.
You can create an "On My Mac" location mailbox for each alias address and create a rule to transfer messages addressed to an alias to the appropriate "On My Mac" mailbox but transferring messages to a locally stored mailbox will also remove the transferred messages from the server at the same time.
You can also create a rule to change the background or text color of a message in the message list addressed to an alias and use a different color for each alias.

Can't open pdf files after downloading from Safari 6.0.5

I was wondering whether anyone else has encountered this bug. Ihave a retina MBP with Safari and Firefox. If I save a pdf to the desktop via Safari I get the following message when I try to open it "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired".
When I download the same file via Firefox, it opens no problem.
It would, therefore seem to be a Safari 6.0.5 pdf problem, rather than an Adobe Acrobat Pro (11.0.3).
I have tried with both extension displayed and not displayed options, no difference.
Can anyone suggest anything?

I encountered the same problem. In my case, the culprit was a plug-in in the Internet Plug-Ins sub-folder of my User Account's Library folder.
Here's how I proceeded, based on a suggestion by Carolyn Samit here:

1. Open the Finder.
2. In the Finder menu bar, click on the heading Go. Scroll down to "Go to Folder," and then click the mouse button again.
3. Copy the following phrase:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins
and then paste that phrase into the field in the navigation window that appeared at the end of Step 2.
3. Click Go.
4. If you find a plug-in named AdobePDFViewer.plugin, drag it to the Trash.
5. Quit and then relaunch Safari. Then try to load in Safari a PDF from a web site. Then try saving it. Once saved/downloaded, try opening the PDF.
When I followed this procedure, the corrupted-PDF problem went away, thanks to Ms. Samit's suggestion.

How can I change number of simultaneous downloads in Safari 8?

When I tried to download to download couple files, Safari download 6 files simultaneousl. Also when I changed the web page and try to download couple file from the new page, it add 6 more download to download list and actually downloads 12 files simultaneousl. This causes safari hangs and may be affect the download speed. So I think that will be good idea if i reduce number simultaneous downloa.

Set Adobe Reader iPad/iPhone app to just view pdf instead of downloading it?

I work for a financial company and it seems that some of our user's were having trouble viewing a pdf document that contained editable text boxes. The layout of the form itself would show, but none of the text within the text boxes would appear. So I tested the pdf out on my phone as well and did the same exact thing (layout shows, but no text). Since everyone was having trouble viewing the text within the document, I downloaded the Adobe Reader App and it worked perfectly. The only issue that I have is that since we are a financial institution, we get audited quite often and having documents stored on your phone is a big 'no-no' to the auditors. So I was wondering if it was possible to make the Adobe Reader App just view the pdf instead downloading the pdf to the application and storing it in the docs and the recent docs setting. A little more info on our part: We are running Exchange 2010, my iPhone is a 4S and it's running the ios7, and the iPad is running ios 6.1.03 (I think). Also, I did a little bit of searching but I could find anything but is there some sort of list that will say what does/does not work in regards to pdf's on iPhones or iPads? Any suggestions/help is very welcome and appreciated!

Hi Shradha and thank you for that information. Now is that only in regards to the Adobe Reader app or does that copy expand to all current pdf viewer apps on iOS? If it is only in regards to the Adobe Reader app, then do you know of an app that may have the functionality that I am looking for? I have tried searching for one, but I have been unsuccessful in my searches.

Can I set to single page view instead of continuous scrolls in Preview?

I just don't like and feel uncomfortable to view the PDF in continuous scrolls mode. however, it is set to be default in Preview of Lion.
How could I change the defaut setting to make it open in single page view instead of continuous scrolls mode?

hmm - I have the same problem - meaning each time I open a preview file it defaults to continous scroll, which for whatever reason, I hate. So each fiel I have to use the view menu to change that particual view to single page. It seems if I quite that file and reopen it on the smae computer it will open in single page view. But any new documents default to the hated continuous scroll view
It sounds like your machine defaults to single page. I assume youa re also usig the latest Lion release. So there must be a way to change the default view of Preview, but I can't seem to find the setting

I'm trying to send home movies to my 10 year old nephew who lives across the country. He doesn't have a computer. He has an iPod touch. His parents have computers. But I don't want everything I ever try to have him do result in "you need your parent's computer for this." It's getting really embarrassing. I have converted my family over to Apple computers but now they want to buy iPhones, iPads, and iPods even though I tell them to go Android. It took a decade to convert them away from windows now I'm trying to keep them away from these freedom limited iOS devices and they won't listen. Then it becomes my responsibility to make their iPads print to their fancy pre-airprint color laser jet printers, get home movies onto them, and countless other things. It's driving me nuts.

Thanks for the question. It sounds like you might have apps that are stuck on “Waiting," and the following is a past discussion that dealt with a similar issue and may help you as well:

Try tapping the App, so that it changes to Paused instead of Waiting, then tap it again to resume the install.
Make sure you don't have any paused downloads in other apps either, like the App Store or iTunes Store.
If that doesn't do it, try resetting or restoring the iPhone.

Merely clicking the Preview icon in the Dock doesn't cause it to open anything, unless you had one or more windows open the last time it quit.
If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test.
1. If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, triple-click the line below to select it:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu. A folder should open. If there is more than one item in the folder with the words "Flash Player" (not "flashplayer") in the name, open the respective Info windows, check the version numbers, and delete all except the latest. You may be prompted for your login password. If you get the same error after doing that, re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from this page:
