Can I keep my attachments closed in Mail?

Whenever I'm sending a message using Mail, with a small attachment, the attached document opens up automatically. How can I keep it as a closed attachment?

Try typing "retain email" into the Ask the Community search box at the top of this page.  You will find many suggestions and answers.  Good luck.

If you mean the generator with the curtains, you'll find it in the generators browser:
It is also easy to simulate the curtain coming down from the top. Just use the transform tool, keyframe the start and end positions.

  • I'm running iTunes 10.5.3.3 on XP and I can't keep the program closed, it automatically restarts every time - help!

Pretty much as the title says, I can't keep iTunes closed once I've started it. Even worse is that I can't update iTunes as during istallation it automantically starts and then gives an error whilst attempting the upgrade.
    Any suggestions please?

OK, you have iMovie 08, which is also known is iMovie Version 7.1.4. It has been a few years since i used this version, so this is based on memory.
The only components you must have in the Library/QuickTime folder are the AppleIntermediateCodec.component and the AppleMPEG2Codec.component.
All the others could potentially be causing problems. I would drag the DivX components, the Flip4Mac components, and the Google Camera components to the Desktop temporarily, so nothing is left in this folder except the two Apple components.
Then restart your Mac and start iMovie. If it works, yay!
If you still need these other components for some other app, you can probably get updated DivX components for free at Perian.org.
You can get updated Flip4Mac components by running WMV Player and updating. It should prompt you to update automatically.
I am not sure about the Google components, but if you are running something that needs them, it should prompt you to install the current versions.
If none of that works, post back.

  • Can not open email attachments in yahoo mail

I can not open any attachments in my yahoo email account using firefox. However I can open them in IE. Please help!

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
(You also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now")
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first) using either of these. While viewing a page on the site:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

  • How can we send multiple attachments in a mail from iPad 2

    Hi,
I am using a ipad2. I want to know how we can send multiple attachments through mail from iPad. I did not find any option of doing this. Is there a way to do this.
    Regards,
    Satyabrat

You can't do it natively on the iPad (unless you just want to send up to 5 photos from the Photos app). I use the GoodReader app which supports quite a few document/file types (e.g. PDF, Excel, Word, pictures), and from that I can select multiple files (including different types) and attach them to the same email.

  • Can i include several attachments to one mail?

I am used to write my email and attach afterwards several attachments, taken for instance from idisk. With my iPad I would have to look for the attachment first (only one at a time) and write the mail afterwards. My question: can I just write my mail and attach more than one attachment (pdf) to this mail, as I can do it with my MacBook or PC?
    Thanks for helping me.

You need to start in the app that contains the files that you want to attach and (if that app supports it) select the file(s) and then use that app to switch into Mail. I use the GoodReader app which supports multiple file/document formats (including PDFs) and allows me to attach multiple files to an email.

  • Why can't i make attachments with yahoo mail in the newest Firefox?

i use yahoo mail. in the old versions of firefox it works perfectly. i use now firefox 3.6.25 if i upgrade to the latest firefox, yahoo mail doesn't work anymore. i can't attach anything. the button 'attach' stays grey and unclickable. it is the reason i don't upgrade. can someone help me? o i work on a macbook pro, with mac os 10.6.8 running.

Sorry, I don't have any other suggestions, except that I did find a thread on the Apple Discussions forum about a similar problem with Safari and Yahoo mail attachments:

Well, my problem with Yahoo Classic is different--I cannot click on some of the buttons! Very weird. No beach ball, but when I attach files to send an email and click on "Attach Files", nothing. Same with a couple others.
Going to try to install the new Flash as Mark suggested. Anyone else have this issue?
I probably should change to Yahoo's newer mail app but I just prefer the Classic version.
You might want to read the other replies in that Apple discussion and try the suggestions ... or just contact Yahoo help, if no one else replies here.

  • Can't find word attachments in BTYahoo Mail

    Hi
Apologies if this is breathtakingly onbious but I click to download the attachment, pc scans it and you get ok etc etc. Unfortunately try as I may I simply can't find the attachment in the usual download (or any other) folder!!
I've googled and know there are some "issues" but see anything specific.
I use Win 7 by the way and we're only talking about basic word docs.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Was only joking when I said breathtakingly naive!
Genuinly can't access attachments. When you click the attachment is scanned but you don't get the second dialogue box with the option to open/save etc.
    Very bizarre.
    Thanks

  • Can I choose which attachments download in mail

Hello first post. I recive a lot of emails with large 1-3mb pictures attached for work. It is eating up my monthy 5gb on air card. Is there a way I choose the pictures to download? I would love to do it like my Iphone does.

LaunchPad-Control was very useful to do exactly what you want on OS X Lion the developer has stated that there are problems when running on Mountain Lion and will not provide any support.
Your only option now is to create folders with related applications.  Click on an application in Launchpad then drop it onto another thus creating a folder then rename the folder to something meaningful.

  • When reading sent email, the attachments I included in the email to recipient  are not shown.  How can I retain the attachments?

When send email with attachments and the open the sent mail to read what I sent, the attachemnts I sent are not shown on the mail in my sent folder.  How can I keep the attachments on my mail?

It will not show anywhere; it is simply your account pic so you know you're using that particular account in Mail (if there is more than one).

  • Can't preview Excel attachments in iOS8

We have several users who can't preview Excel attachments in e-mail on their iPhones . I've seen this happen with users with iPhone 4Ss to iPhone 6+'s. They all have iOS8, including the most recent update.
The device tries to open the attachment: you see the spinning wheel for a few seconds, then just shows the name and file type.
I've tried saving the file as an older xls file, or a newer xlsx file (new up to Excel 2010: haven't been able to test with 2013). I've tried removing worksheets, reformatting the file. It does not work.
The files will open in Numbers or Documents to Go on the device. It is only in the mail preview it does not open.
It happens in e-mail from an Exchange server, GMail or AOL.
I do see that it creates an error log. Under the Diagnostics and Usage log, there is a log file called quicklookd_DATE_TIME added and the file LatestCrash_quicklookd.ips is updated each time I open these. I'm not sure how to find the error in here, but the Exception Type is EXC_CRASH (SIGABRT).
I've seen some posts about downloading full messages to solve this, but as far as I can tell they are downloaded.

Yes, it can't be opened as an attachment.

  • Mail Adapter to Soap Adapter keeping the attachments - How?

    Hi guys,
I am working on a scenario where I should pull emails from an Exchange server and I should forward them (with their attachments) to a separate systems via a Web Service.
So far I have been able to pull the emails using the Mail Adapter and I get to see them in the monitoring tool of PI with their attachment(s).  But what I am not sure of is how I should forward these emails to the external system using a web service.
This system should expose this web service that should use something similar to SOAP with attachments (I guess) and then PI should forward these attachments using the receiver SOAP adapter with the "keep attachments" option selected.
Is this something that could work as simply as this (by configuring these two adapters to keep their attachments) OR will I need to do some more fancy stuff?
Thanks for any advice you can give me on this.
    Aldo

    Hi Stefan,
    thanks for your replay.
Yes, I understand that the mail should be in an XML message.  And with that part we are doing OK.  We have managed to send the XML between the systems.
However, what I don't understand is how to pass the attachments.
How should the receiving system receive them?  if they are not in the XML message itself how are these going to be passed over?
Will the SOAP envelop have some kind of link or reference to the attachments?
The receiving system is a SAP CE system and it's based on Java.  Can they expose a service that will somehow handle these attachments?
Could you explain this part to us?  this is where we get confused.
Thanks for your help in advance,
    Aldo

Yep! And if you absolutely need (or think you need) that functionality, it is worth every penny.
As Don already pointed out, exactly what the recipient sees will depend on how they've set up their machine and what unnecessary 3rd party apps they might've installed to display attachments the way they want.
In theory, that is true. In practice, Attachment Tamer will cause more of your messages to show up as plain-jane icons on the other end. The problem is, after all, people running Outlook 2003 and 2007. These people likely aren't doing many system modifications.
If I were you, I'd use the free solutions provided above, save my money and let my recipients decide how they will handle their mail.
    I completely agree.
