Can I keep my iPad and iPhone content seperate with the same Apple ID?

I had an iPad 1 and I had it setup so that it did not synch with contacts in my iPhone, as I use my iPhone for work.  I have a lot of work contacts in there and do not want this info on my iPad.  I just got a new iPad Air and it appears that it is synching with my iPhone.  Is there a way for me to keep the contacts from my iPhone seperate from the contacts on my iPad?

Of course you could just turn off contacts syncing in "Settings > iCloud > Contacts" which would keep the contacts on this device local and separated from your other devices and iCloud. (Of course you could also create/set up a second account in "Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar" just for private or work contacts.)

You got it with that same apple id thing. You can use different apple id's, but then they will not sync. Apple does allow as many free apple id's as you want, but they are in the business to make money.

  • My MacBook Air keeps asking me for my yahoo password; which when correctly entered will not allow me into the account. iPad and iPhone both working on the same password/account.

my MacBook Air keeps asking me for my YAHOO password; which when correctly entered will not allow me into the account. iPad and iPhone both working on the same password.

I've got automatic downloads turned off and I tried signing out and in via the settings and still keeps asking me for an apple id.
It doesn't do it continuously, it'll just pop up randomly ... if the phone is just sitting there it may ask for my apple id and regardless of whether I press cancel or enter my password nothing happens .. it may be another 2mins, 5mins, 15mins but eventually it'll just randomly pop up and ask me again. It does accept my password though because I tried entering an incorrect password to see what happens and it gives me the error saying it's incorrect, so when I enter the correct one in the box disappears and it accepts it as I say, but only for so long before it pops up again.

  • I have 2 Iphone 4s's with the same apple id can I delete 1 without it effecting the other

Hi, Ihave 2 iphone 4s's with the same apple id, can I delete 1 of them without it affecting the other phone?

You should probably tell us exactly what you are trying to accomplish.  Carolyn's answer is correct as always, but here's a small clarification:
You could, for example, sync and back up one of the iPhones using iTunes on your computer.  Then you might take one of the iPhones and do Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings
Although that action would cleanse all data off that specific iPhone, the data should remain on your iTunes backup and I believe it would remain on the other iPhone.
There is a difference between specifically deleting apps, messages, etc. on an iPhone versus resetting and cleansing an iPhone.

  • We just got 2 iPad air today and Set up both with the same Apple ID, now I'm getting messages and FaceTime for my 13 yr old daughter.  Do I have to create a different Apple ID for her?

We just got 2 iPad air today and Set up both with the same Apple ID, now I'm getting FaceTime and messages for my 12 yr. old.  Do I have to set up a separate Apple ID  for her to avoid this?

It's a trust issue. You can set them up so you don't receive each other's messages as long as you each have your own email address.
The trust issue is the fact that either of you can change the separation at any time via Settings by checking the appropriate (inappropriate?) email address.
To be absolutely sure you can never receive each other's messages will require two Apple IDs.

  • I-Pad Mini and Wi-Fi Connection-I-Pad Mini does not connect to the Wi-Fi while IPad and IPhone 5 works in the same location.  Then when I go to another location the Ipad Mini works.  How can I get Wi-Fi to work all the time like Ipad and Iphone 5?

I-Pad Mini and Wi-Fi Connection.  At one location the I-Pad Mini will not connect to wi-fi, while I-Pad and I-Phone 5 works just fine.
Then at another location the I-Pad Mini works just fine.  Are there any suggestions anyone can give me to get I-Pad Mini to work everywhere just like I-Pad and I-Phone 5?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • How do i connect both my ipad and iphone to wifi at the same time. i can one or the other connected but not both?, how do i connect both my ipad and iphone to wifi at the same time. i can one or the other connected but not both?

ive just moved out and have just been connected to talk talk broadband today.  Both my ipad mini and iphone are saying they are connected to wifi but only my iphone will connect to online services where my ipad mini won't.  But if i disconnect my iphone from wifi then my ipad will work online and then when trying to connect my iphone back to wifi that won't work with online services.  is this because they are both using the same apple account?  though when i was living at home my mum had sky router and i was able to connect both devices with no problem.  is there anyway of connecting both devices so they work online at the same time??

There is absolutely no reason why they should not bothe be able to connect to your WiFi network. The easiest place to start would be to reboot your router. Unplug it for about 30 seconds and then plug it back in again. I would also restart both the iPad and the iPhone.

  • My iPod and iPhone are connected by the same Apple ID and I've forgotten my pass code to my iPod, is there anyway I can get into it without having to delete anything?

I really need to find a way to get into my iPod without having to delete anything. (Note: my home button and power button don't work and I haven't synced anything at all)

No. You have to restore and thus erase the iPod. You have to options:
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone and use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
You can also wipe the iOS device by installing the FindMyiPhone app on another iOS device and using that app to wipe the device.
    - Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs and then restore via iTunes:
    For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    or
    http://joshuabailey1997.wordpress.com/2010/09/02/recboot-v1-3/
    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
    and
    RecBoot tip
RecBoot may have problems on 64X windows, then try:
Tenorshare ReiBoot – Enter & Exit iPhone, iPad, iPod Recovery Mode with a Single Click
    For MAC or PC
    The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
    Installs blootware on PC too
    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • 2 iphone 5 accidently with the same Apple Id and password, for i cloud.  How do I change one of them ?

My wife up graded her I phone to an I phone 5 and I just recently got a new Iphone 5 .  when I put my apple ID into icloud I used my email address as my ID and one of my passwords.  What I did not know is that my wife used my email and the same password for her Apple Id in her phone for I cloud.  Now when we sinc our phones the contacts and information gets combined.   I have been unable to find a way to change her Apple Id to her email address and also change her password.  If she could do this on her phone it would solve our problem.   If anyone out there can help me do this I would appreciate it.  Thanks

  • How can I open another iCloud account for each devices with the same apple id

my family has 2 iPhones 1 iPad 1 Macbook and 1 iMac. I had all the devices set up with one iCloud under 1 Apple ID. Now things are getting so mixed up with pictures, videos, calendar, notes and reminders etc. 1 iPhone is also unable to sync due to not having enough storage for all our devices. Someone from Genius Bar said we can have iCloud for each device under 1 Apple ID. I backed up all pics. videos notes important docs to my iMac and MacBook then I turned off all iCloud in all of the devices now I need help to create a new iCloud account at least for my 3 mobile devices to end all the confusion. every time I try to click the button "set up iCloud on this device" I always go back to apple site with step by step by step instruction but I keep going around in a loop. Please help

I'm not sure what they told your at the Apple store, but each Apple ID can only create a single iCloud account.  If you want separate accounts for all these devices, they will have to be created using separate IDs.  Note: you can do this and still share the same ID for other services such as your iTunes store account.  The iCloud ID does not need to be the same as the ID used for other services.
To create an account, go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with a different Apple ID.  If you want to migrate a copy of the current iCloud data to the different accounts, start by saving any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll.  If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud; the devices keeping the current account will not be effected by this), provide the password to turn off Find My iDevice and choose Keep on My iDevice when prompted.  Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create your new account and choose Merge to upload your data.

  • How to stop iPhone 4 contacts being automatically replaced by an iPhone 6 contacts with the same Apple ID logged in?

So my phone got damaged and I sent it for repair. This is not the issue.
Meanwhile, I'm using my Dad's previous iPhone 4. I placed the SIM card in and used a carrier app to transfer all my contacts. After my contacts replaced the one on my Dad's previous phone, he informed me that the contacts on his current phone iPhone 6+ had changed to mine to and he had lost all of his contacts.
Unfortunately he has yet to back up his new iPhone 6+ but I did managed to find a backup of the iPhone 4 stored on my computer.
Here comes the problem: I restored the back up from my computer on the iPhone 4. All the contacts were back. However, whenever the iPhone 4 has wifi on, the contacts will automatically get replaced by my contacts again? I have tried toggling iCloud here and there but nothing seems to be working.
    Anyone knows the problem here?

Okay, as I'm not very clear how iCloud works, I'll try my best to explain what I tried to do.
Firstly, what I'm trying to do is to get the contacts restored on the iPhone 4. Once I've got them back, afraid that they might get replaced, I put the phone on airplane mode and turned off iCloud Backup. The iCloud 6 on the iPhone 6 is turned on and is connected to wifi. By turning the iCloud back on with the iPhone 4, I assumed that the replaced contacts on the iPhone 4 would overwrite the ones on the iPhone 6 but it seems to be happening the other way round.
Objective: Trying to get the restored contacts on the iPhone 4 to the iPhone 6.

  • How to share, sync and keep updated ipad and iphone contents?

Hi! I've got both an iPhone and an iPad with common apps, such as Calendar and Notes. How can I share the contents from one device to another from iTunes? Is there anyhow I can sync them so both devices keep updated content of any common app? thanks!

Are you using iCloud on all devices? That's one of the features of using iCloud - keeping all of your devices in sync seamlessly. You don't have to sync with iTunes in order for this to work.
Settings>iCloud> Turn the Calendar and Notes app on on all devices.
