Can i keep photos on iPad and not my macbook

My macbook is filling up fast with Photos from our travels. I would like to keep some albums on my iPad but delete them off the Macbook so i can free up memory.
Does anyone know if this is possible and is so how can i do it?

You don't have to set anything, Photo Manager Pro doesn't require you to keep the photos on your Mac, it doesn't have the same link as the Photos app does - the only time that it needs to be on your Mac is when you are copying the photo from there to your iPad, after it's in Photo Manager Pro it doesn't expect or need it to stay there.

Make sure your black phone is using the same or higher version of iOS as your white one, and that it is signed into the same iCloud account.

Before setting up iCloud, my girlfriend downloaded photos from her camera to her iPad. We now have iCloud set up, but the photos on her iPad remain in the "Photos" album instead of Photo Stream. I would like to delete the photos from the iPad to free up storage space, and move them to the Macbook. I'm guessing that I would need to somehow move them to Photo Stream then delete the old album where they were stored on the iPad... Any ideas?

Can't sync photos between iPad and Mac OS X since updates

Just updated OS X and iTunes, now got message that "iTunes will no longer sync photos to iPad" - sounds like Apple is trying to force me to pay for iCloud photo sharing. Any way to avoid that? I loved the previous easy sync approach.

I would really love to know how I can still have certain songs in my iTunes, without it transfering them into my iPod. If anyone has any clue as to how this can be done please let me know!!

The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

Or you can keep automatic sync and use the checkmark to determine which songs to transfer to the iPod. Any songs not checked will not be transferred to the iPod if you select "Only Update Checked Songs" within your iPod preferences tab. Not the best method as the unchecked songs will not play within iTunes Playlists or the Library (unless directly selected).

Can you buy a 3G iPad and not activate?

Just curious if you can get one without activating. If I find a 3G before I find a WiFi only I may just buy it, but I don't need the 3G.

I have an AT&T 3G iPad2. I called them for instructions on how to initialize 3G later then how to turn it on and off. If you skip turning on 3G as first (I did), then you go to Settings>Cellular Data>View Account>Registration. After you register it you can control, within limits, when you are being charged. The default set up is to automatically renew your contract each month. To turn that off and have manual control month to month you go to Settings>Cellular Data>Account Overview>Cancel iPad Services> Cancel Later. This last "Cancel Later" actually turns off the automatic renew each month. Then you can decide if you want it each month. Once you turn it on for a month you get a full month's bill even if you use it only one day.
I don't know if or how this would work for Verison.

How can I transfer photos from my iMac to my iPad and not lose the ones already stored on the iPad? When using iTunes to sync a folder from the iMac to the iPad it always removes anything previously synced.

I've just found out the reason for this behaviour. I am syncing from a computer which is different to the one I first synced with. iTunes can't cope with this situation so deletes anything synced from another source.

I had a problem a couple of months ago when iPhotos suddenly rearranged the order of my Events (Why won't iPhoto let me arrange my photos?) . I was told "Use albums not events - events are not a good way to organize - albums and folder are designed for organisation and are very flexible".
Haha! I should have paid attention and read between the lines! My iPhotos were highly organised groupings - not according to date but the way I wanted them - and it was so easy to do! I see now that if I had them all in albums, as per the Apple Apologist suggestion, I wouldn't have this unholy mess I have been left with just to make iPhone & iCloud users happy. I am now going through Photos and making Albums (of what used to be in my Events) ... maybe I'll get this finished before they do another non user friendly update!

What is the file name of the video(s) you want to sync?
Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

If you are using iCloud, you don't need to back up these items because they are synced with your iCloud account.

Thanks for the help, but i've actually done that before.
It does not help, because it only shows the photos on the camera roll and do not show the photos synchronized with that pc that i dont have access anymore.
The photos/albums all appear on the ipad, i can see it without problems but i cant get them out of the ipad to save onto pc for backup.
And i reaaly need it, as it is the only place that i actually have these photos now...

Thumbnails show up. LR just will not import them.
Any idea what is going wrong?

If the Import button is not clickable, that means that Lightroom thinks you have no new photos to import (one possible reason is that they are duplicates)
So, you need to figure out why Lightroom thinks that. The way I would do this is to search your Library module for at least one of the photos, by file name. To do this, you would follow all 4 of these steps in sequence:
Click on All Photographs in the Catalog Panel on the left of the Library Module
Turn off all Filters (Ctrl-L or Cmd-L once or twice)
Expand all stacks: Photo->Stacking->Expand All Stacks
Search for one or more of the photos using the Filter Bar (press backslash), search by File Name

I had an album on my iPad that didn't have a delete option. I was able to finally remove everything by connecting the iPad to iTunes and going to the Photos tab. Select sync photos. It will ask you if you want to replace all photo on iPad with sync photos. Apply the setting and then un-sync photo again. It will then remove all photos on iPad starting with a clean slate.
Be sure to backup all your photos before doing this. Hope that helps.

i have imported everything... photos have been deleted on iphoto but still show up on ipad and iphone... even after being synchronised.

My iWork (pages and keynote) are not communicating with the iCloud. I haven't changed anything and all of the sudden there is no sync happening. My iCloud account is fine as i can create documents on my iPad and they appear on iCloud.

However, when i change documents on my mac (documents that are supposed to be in the iCloud), the changes do not sync with my other devices nor with iCloud. Even when i create new documents on my mac and save them to iCloud, all seems okay and i can access them from my mac, however they do not show up in the iCloud and i can't access them with my other devices.
Most recent version of mountain lion updated over a month ago. New iPad in use for over a month.
