That will degrade the battery. Apple recommends that you fully discharge and fully charge monthly.

  • I can not change albums when I plug my Ipod touch into my car.

When i plug my Ipod touch 3rd gen into my 2010 Scion XD the screen goes white with an icon saying that is plugged in as an accessory. The problem with this is that when an album ends there is no way to flip to a new artist/album or anything without unhooking the ipod. So once you plug the ipod into the car it will only play the album that you already were playing with no option to change it. Is there a setting that i can change so the music touch screen will stay active when plugged into my car so i can flip through my library?
    Thanks

This can happen if Restrictions are enabled on your iPod Touch and Installing Apps is turned OFF. You'll also find the App Store icon is missing.
Check Settings > General > Restrictions and either disable restrictions or turn "Installing Apps" ON.

  • How do you choose songs from your ipod instead of from the car dashboard while your ipod is plugged into your car?

How do you choose songs from your ipod instead of from the car dashboard while your ipod is plugged into your car?

It depends on your car stereo. On the JVC we have you can select either "Head Mode" or "iPod Mode" when you're plugged into the USB port. Ipod Mode lets you select the songs from the iPod although the radio still controls the volume. I believe the Alpine I have does the same thing.

  • Is leaving my MBP plugged into mains a bad thing?

Is there an FAQ on this kind of stuff anywhere? I bet my questions are very common.
1 - Is leaving my MBP plugged into mains power a bad thing? Someone told me today that it's bad for the battery. I've had the thing about 6 weeks now, yet I've only gone through 5 cycles.
2 - I've not yet run the battery completely down at all. Is that good/bad/doesn't matter?
3- Is allowing the machine to completely drain itself of power (till it conks out) at all likely to damage it?
4 - What's all this about battery calibrating?
    As I say, if there's a FAQ...
    Cheers!

By and large, laptop batteries today are maintenance free. Just charge them when needed and don't spend a lot of time worrying about it. Some people seem absolutely **** bent on finding something they can fret over with their laptops instead of just enjoying using them. Learn from their example, and don't allow yourself to fall into that same trap.

  • Can i get my ipod information into itunes?

so everything was going great until one day i opened up itunes and my entire library was gone! so then i plugged in my ipod, which still had all my songs and playlists and whatnot on it, and it said that my ipod was connected to another ituned, but it isnt...so im thinking that maybe i need to find a way to get everything from my ipod itunes.
otherwise id really like to know where all my music went missing...

First, try Importing Your playlist (see http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93763)
Your Playlist should be in the My Music folder.
If that doesn't work, you can get all your iPod music into iTunes with this procedure:

  • Do I have to leave my phone plugged into the test jack???

I don't understand how this works. The test jacks are in my living room coat closet, so do I have to leave my phone plugged into those? Or do I plug them into one of the jacks on the back of my modem?? If I have to leave the phone in the closet that is super inconvienent since the cords are barely long enough. HELP!!

I have FiOS digital voice. My phone has a dial tone and works when I leave it plugged into the test jacks, but I can't figure out where else I would plug it in.
It seems that what you are calling "test jacks" are the (usually) two RJ-11 jacks inside the ONT.  "RJ-11" is the standard 4-wire phone jack, and "ONT" means "Optical Network Terminal" which is where the Verizon fiber is connected to your networks and devices.  These jacks are not for testing but are used to connect telephone devices and networks to the fiber optical network.
If you do not have other locations where RJ-11 jacks exist then the only location that will give telephone service at present is at the ONT.  The jacks in the rear of the router are used for Internet connections only, and are referred to as "RJ-45."  They have nothing to do with your telephone service.  Note that an RJ-11 plug will actually fit and connect using an RJ-45 socket, but the reverse is not possible.
You have at least two options.  You can run cables from the ONT to selected locations and fit RJ-11 jacks.  This usually means running concealed cables and may take a bit of doing.  This can be done by a regular user, but usually involved some specialized techniques and tools.
Alternatively you can connect a wireless base station in the closet at the ONT, and then use the "slave" units for regular service.  Let us know if this sounds like a good idea or if you have additional questions.

  • I have an ipod classic 120 gb. I had music on my ipod that I had gotten from other people's itunes libraries by changing my settings to manually sync my ipod. However, twice I have had my ipod plugged into my mac and it completely erased everything

I have an ipod classic 120 gb. I had it set up so that I manually sync and manage my music. Twice I have had my ipod plugged into my mac and it had erased everything on my ipod. All the music on my itunes was still in my library, but all the other music was lost. I understand that I need to go back to the other libraries I got that music from, but how do I make sure that my ipod doesn't keep syncing and erasing itself? Also, now every five minutes a message will pop up on my itunes saying that it cannot sync because of an unknown error and then it has the number 13014. I have no idea what that is about. Does anyone else go through this? How do I fix it?

Well the iPod is supposed to be synced from YOUR iTunes music library, if you used other means to put music on there then the iPod is going to sync to only what's on your itunes music library when you connect it.
You need to put the files into itunes.
Far as your other issues, sounds like the drive is dying.

    help

While some vehicles provide 110 volt outlets, most do not.  To do that you need what is called an inverter.  An inverter changes DC current (12 volts in this case) to AC 110 volts.  You need an inverter that can supply an adequate amperage for whatever device you need to run or charge.  The inverter will have one or two outlets for plugging in common household devices.
In my car (a Honda CR-V) I have a two outlet inverter plugged into the car's accessory outlet in the rear cargo area.  From there I've run a heavy extension cord along the floor, under floor mats, to the front.  From that I can plug in chargers or any passenger could plug in their notebook, etc.
The question you will need to answer in case of your AirPort, however, is how will you connect the AirPort to the Internet?  The AirPort has no native modem to access an ISP.  If you have a cellular device with hotspot capability, or a satellite dish with Internet service, or are parked where you can connect to an ISP modem such as , WiMax, DSL or cable, and can connect one of those to your AirPort, you will be OK.

  • Leaving Macbook Air plugged into ac adaptor?

When using the Air at home, is it ok to always leave the computer plugged into the AC adaptor, whether in sleep mode or in shut down mode? The magsafe plug on the computer stays green because the battery is charged. If I unplug the ac adaptor, even for a day without using the computer, the plug is first amber as some charging takes place.
What is the best way to use the computer at home to preserve battery operation over the long term?
    thanks

Some other users already hit on the main points...
One thing worth mentioning, the purpose of the MacBook Air was to be super portable and I'd imagine for the typical user who purchases the machine they're anticipating being very mobile with it. I know on mine, I've already crossed the 100 charge cycle threshold and the machine is only about 3 months old. I use it a lot, both plugged in at night and unplugged during the day.
No matter how you use your battery, charge the machine, or leave it plugged in, ultimately the battery's longevity will be depleted. There are ways to prolong it, but it's impossible to prevent it. My advice to you, is to use the machine how you see fit.
Regarding charging at night, there's no evidence to support that leaving the machines plugged in overnight (on, off, sleep or otherwise) is problematic. I personally unplug mine at night, unless it requires charging. But again, that's a personal preference.

  • Can I use my Ipod wirelessly in my car to listen to music

Right now I have to use a connection from my car to my IPOD I thought I saw on TV where I can use the Apple website to go wireless.  I have an IPHONE 5 if that makes a difference.

Not sure how would you connect to the Apple website, while in your car.
If you mean that you want to listen to the music that's on your iPhone, but through the car's stereo, does your car stereo have a Bluetooth option?
The various methods to listen to music (that is on an iDevice), but through the car stereo, wirelessly, are as follows:
Bluetooth from the iPhone to the car stereo's Bluetooth facility - if the car stereo has Bluetooth that receives music. Check the instructions for your car's stereo.
Bluetooth from the iPhone to a Bluetooth receiver that plugs into the car's stereo (this may not be a straight forward option, you would need to buy the correct type of Bluetooth receiver for your car).
An FM transmitter, which the iPhone plugs into and it then transmitts a radio signal which the car radio is tuned into. The quality of FM transmitters is not as good as other methods.

  • Can i connect my ipod classic to my car radio via bluetooth so that I can listen whilst driving?

Can I connect my Ipod Classic to my car radio using bluetooth (or any other way) so that I can listen through my radio whilst driving?

Yes, get an iFM transitter from eBay or Amazon.
Search for Griffin or Monster or just iPod Classic FM transmitter and charger, they are inexpensive less than US$30.
Get one with charger or else you iPod might run out of battery faster.

  • Leave iPod plugged into usb on PC ?

Hi, this is my first iPod video, I have the new 30GB.
Anyway, do I just leave it plugged into the computer all the time when not in use? Even when itunes is not on the ipod flashes the "Do not disconnect" and the backlight stays on.
    Is that ok?
Should i ejected it when not in use?
thanks in advance for the help.

Yes, there should be no harm done to your iPod leaving it plugged in all the time. I would though, let the battery discharge once and a while.
    Hope this helps
