Can I legally burn my DVD to iPad 2??

Hi I live in the uk and I am wondering if there is a ay to burn all my own DVDs to my computer with the intention of putting on my iPad. Is there anything I can buy from apple or otherwise as I'd love to take my films on the go. Thank you

The actual act of backing up the DVD isn't the problem but in order to do so one has to break copy protection, this is illegal. Again any further discussion, regardless, is against the terms of this forum. No one will be able to help with this here.

  • Why can't I burn a DVD of photos from my iPhoto that will be viewable on a Windows computer?

Why can't I burn a DVD of photos from my iphotos that will be viewable on a PC using windows?

Darned if I know. What exactly are you doing?
The general answer is to select the photo(s) in iPhoto and export to a desktop folder (file menu ==> export). In the finder right click on that folder and burn to disk

  • Can Movies be burned to DVD?

Can movies be burned to DVD in new iTunes 7 ? Thanks

You see, this is why I was excited about iTunes 7. Until the player comes out, there's no point in buying movies unless you have the space on your ipod (and money) to have multiple copies of the same movie in different formats.
Same reason why I don't understand UMD on the PSP. A portable DVD player would be just as useful.
I can burn protected audio files to CD and use elsewhere, why not TV shows and movies?
I apologize for simply ranting, though I do appreciate that somebody had the answer to this as being no (currently).
Apple is all about freedom, this seems to be a step in the wrong direction.
Everything else about iTunes 7 appears amazing. Just highly disappointing, I suppose. I was done buying DVDs at the store if this had been a yes...

  • After using iDVD, can my iMac burn a DVD ?

After using iDVD, can my iMac burn a DVD ?
I mean how do I know whether my disk drive can write/burn DVD ?
Mine is a 24" iMac bought some 5 months ago.
    Thanks

Assuming your mac has at least 25 GB's of available hard drive space on the boot volume and an S-Drive as opposed to a combo drive; the latter only reads dvd's while the former both reads and writes to dvd, then you should be able to, yes.
But follow the iMovie> iDvd Tutorial/s first.

Hope this helps but if not just come on back. Good luck.

There is no really satisfactory substitute for iDVD to burn video files from iMovie.
Whilst Macs with a Superdrive continue to be able to burn video DVDs, the software for so doing, iDVD, is no longer included in the iLife bundle that comes with OS 10.7 Lion (which also omitted iWeb) or will come with OS 10.8 Mountain Lion. And it is no longer included in the iLife 11 from the online Apple Store: http://www.apple.com/ilife/. Your only solution is to look on Amazon or eBay and try to get an older version that includes iDVD 7, i.e. iLife version 9 onwards. You should also do this if you plan to buy a new Mac anytime soon, as stocks of iLife that include iDVD will not be available for ever.
However, the vastly more expensive FCPX can burn a DVD without iDVD or DVD Studio Pro involvement, but lack the themes etc of iDVD. Also, of course, there is Roxio Toast, which is the best software for burning anything but again does not offer the flexibility of iDVD.

  • Why can't I burn a dvd disc on my macBook pro ?

I transferred some video footage to "iMovie' for editing and when I tried to burn it to a dvd disc, there was no option for that operation. All of the choices were to transfer it to You Tube, of facebook. Can I burn a dvd disc on my macBook pro laptop or not?

If you have a macbook with internal or USB external Superdrive, insert disk, and an option appears for burning files.
Otherwise drop the movie into a folder and click on the settings button of the folder and choose "burn .......to disk"

  • Can't Reliably Burn DL DVD-Rs

Having a huge problem trying to burn DL DVD-Rs on our Mid 2012 Mac Pro.  We have tried a couple different types of media, but we get the "The attempt to burn the disc has failed and may be unreliable" warning about half the time.  Wasting too many discs this way...
The burner is original to the Mac, simply called an HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GH80N, which I believe is an LG model.  We have tried a couple different types of media, including Verbatim, but still see these errors.  I have an old 2008 Mac Pro that has a discontinued Pioneer drive on it that is virtually 100% relaible.
Has anyone found a sweet spot on Macs with a drive/media that works reliably with the Finder?  Is there one or both I should change?  Or do I need to look at better disc burning software?
    Thanks in advance!

Hey Kevlar,  I have never had a coaster using Taiyo Yuden (JVC) DVD-DL I buy the 8X and burn at 4X, have never had a failure with the superdrive or my internal Pioneer BDR-208DBK BD burner either. I get all my disk from the SuperMediaStore (stay away from the cheaper "Value Line" disks). Whatever your disc read/write speed is burn at half the speed and run a laser cleaning disk through your burner ever so often. What editing software do you use?

  • Why can't I burn a DVD?

Help!  I use PE7 and all is well until I try to burn a DVD. At that point, PE7 announces that a problem has occurred and the software closes.  I have to reboot my computer to open PE7 again.   I use a Dell Dimension 3400 with 2.99 GHz, 1.99 SB RAM.  I have placed PE7 on an external drive with a terabyte of memory; hardly any of it used.

A likely cause of this error is that some program did not report memory usage correctly to the OS.
This ARTICLE will give tips on finding "clues" as to what was happening at that moment. Chances are good that that program, or Process is identified somewhere in the Event Viewer. Now, be prepared to do a bit of reading, but follow EVERY link in any of the error, or warning messages.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • How can my G5 burn a DVD that it can't play back

I'm using DVDSP4. Bit rate is 6.8 max and 5.0 min. This is a head scratcher. It plays fine in DVD players, but in the very burner that burned it, no dice!

Happens to me all the time...I still have the standard Hitachi superdrive in my dual 2gig G5 (fall 2004 model). It's not consistent, but on occasion I'll burn a batch of discs which play on settop players, in Windows laptops, and on my G4 (which I retrofitted with a Pioneer D-111 drive), but which won't play on the Hitachi. See my posts re: "Why is DVD Player SOOOOO BAD?" for more info about this.
My solution? I'm replacing the Hitachi drive with the new Pioneer dual-layer drive.

  • Can no longer burn dvds or upload

Recently my premier elements 11 stopped being able to burn a dvd or upload to youtube...
dvd just goes to indexing but never continues. Upload to youtube stops at 81 % and freezes.
No real error messages. Tried re-installing software but does the same thing.
Worked for last 4 years on same PC running windows 8...now wont?
    HELP!

(I'm replying to your comments from below and:  I'm including 2 other individuals (CC) in this reply; asking for their help as well, if they have any potential answers for me.)  Please advice ...
I'm using Adobe Premier Elements 11 on an HP Windows Pro 8.1 desk top PC.  It's been working perfect since I loaded it in 2011.  I produce and create a 30 minute TV show for a couple of my local community TV Stations in the area as well as make videos on real estate and publish them to You Tube (Finding New Neighbors <<< see my You Tube Network for sample of my videos).  I also create DVD's for real estate properties to use during open houses and as marketing tools for real estate.  I also make training videos for the local Board of Realtor's.  Uploading these videos to You Tube and burning DVD's is very critical to my business.
I currently have episodes of the TV show ready to burn but I can't get them to burn so I can turn them into the TV Stations for airing.
It was working perfect until recently; however, I can no longer burn a DVD or upload to You Tube.  The edit program seems to be working fine.  I can still create videos, edit and view videos on the program but I can't send them anywhere to be used in any way.  When I attempt to burn a disk; it gets ready to burn then nothing happens.  When I attempt to upload to You Tube; it will "Render" and start to Upload but then it get's to about 61% to 99% (uploaded) then freezes up and never finishes.
I've had our office computer support person in working on my PC for the past 4 days and we're getting no where.  He did find a virus and cleaned it out.  Everything "seems" to be working now except my DVD burner and uploading videos to You Tube.  I even reloaded the Adobe Premier Elements 11 software to see if that could be an issue.  It made no difference.
Somehow, the program is no longer speaking properly to whatever pathway it needs to, in order for the DVD's or You Tube to receive the video/s and finish.
I really need to get this fixed; otherwise, months worth of work is lost and I will not be able to create or publish any future videos.  I really need this working.  Any help would be appreciated immensely.

  • Burning a DVD is no longer possible...HELP!

I have an eMac 800 mhz G4 with 1gb RAM running OS X 10.4.6 and for some reason I can no longer burn a DVD. I am still able to burn CDs with no problem and DVD-R or DVD-ROMs mount with no problem. Whenever I start to burn the DVD it starts the process and then 20-30 seconds later it abruptly closes the session and reports 'Drive failed to respond properly' and ejects the disk. I have tried burning in Finder, Toast 7, LiquidCD, etc. all with the same result. Does anyone have any idea whats up and is there any way to fix this problem?
