Can I limit incoming file sizes ?

Is there anyway to tell mail to bounce any email that contains an attachment over say 2MB? I've looked through all the control panels in mail rules and can't find anything

bouncing an email through Mail will still let it into your account so it will be present on your email server. if your account is POP you can set the option to prompt you about downloading messages above 2MB in size. that's done in mail preferences->accounts->advanced. if it's IMAP you can set it to leave attachments on the server. if the goal is to prevent messages above 2MB from reaching your mailbox on the server then no mail client can do it and it can only be set on the server. some do allow rules like that but you'd have to find out if yours does.

  • How can we limit uploading file size in portal.

we have a feature where customers can upload there files, we use portals for uploading files, form which has the file type is posted to a stored procedure and which in turns calls the wwv_things.saveitem.
we need to restrict a file size and file type for the uploading files, I can restrict the file type with javasript but wanted to find out if oracle portals has any way to restrict the uploading file size,
    thanks and regards,

Currently, this is not available. You could have a query that has all RKF as a starting point to achieve this. If you think this would be good to have by default, please log a development request on the OSS Messaging System.

How can I increase the file size limit for outgoing mail. I need to send a file that is 50MB?

You can't change it, and I suspect few email providers would allow a file that big.  Consider uploading it to a service like Dropbox, then email the link allowing the recipient to download it.

  • Can't download large file-size Apps

I have about 700MB free on my iPad. I have been trying to download a 270MB app since last night. I am using a Wifi connection. Everytime I attempt the download it gets about %70 through and then fails, either removing the app completely from the device or just starting over from the beginning again.
Is there a limit to file sizes that can be downloaded directly onto the iPad?
I can't use iTunes to sync the iPad at this time and it will be several days before I am able to do that.
Am I out of luck here? Or is there a way to convince my iPad to play nice?

Even though you have 700 mb free, that may not be enough.  You typically need 3 or more times the app's size during installation.  If you really need this app before you can use your computer, you can delete videos to make room.  Just tap and hold on the video's thumbnail until a circled white X appears.  Tap the X to delete the video.  You can put it back when you can access your computer.

  • Can I tell the file size of my .folio without an iPad?

I've been searching everywhere for this answer, but alas, it has escaped me. How can I tell the file size of my .folio? I'm sure this is really simple. I'd like to be able to see the final file size of my folio without an iPad.

I think if you log into acrobat.com, you should see your folio there, too.
You see the article sizes and may be able to add them together.
Be catuous, editing your folio through acrobat.com might break it.

Where can I find the file sizes for each application before downloading? I have limited download (525 MBs/day) because of Hughsnet and I need to know each applications total size before I download.

You can go to the trial page to get an estimated size.  As the Creative Cloud products change over time though this may become less accurate.
If you are on a limited bandwidth account then you may want to consider purchasing a perpetual copy of Creative Suite 6 as opposed to subscribing to the Creative Cloud.

Thanks.  I do not have the experience on burning discs from iMovie for the movie after editing (ie for video discs players).  It seems that i cannot find the relevant command in the tool bar for this purpsoe.  Would you please show me the way?
The command is gone because iDVD has been discontinued by Apple. After Apple discontinued iDVD they removed the iDVD burning link from iMovie. I still use iDVD sometimes, only because I have an old copy.

You have mentioned about Handbrake as a converter.  What is the RF no. (under Constant Quality) meant?  It seems that the smaller the no. is, the better quality will be.  What is the optimal no.? or should we use the Average Bitrate? Again, what is the best rate?  Furthermore, which format is more suitable or the best: H264 or mpeg 2/4?
I don't know what RF means. When I have used HandBrake, I've used presets that apply to what I want to do, so I don't know the meaning of each individual setting. However, it appears that many of them are listed in the HandBrake User's Guide that is linked from the Help menu in the program:

Photoshop is not amateur-level software, and although it can edit a video, it cannot burn a DVD. Unfortunately, because I still use iMovie, I haven't tried anything else. You might want to read the reviews of various DVD-burning applications in the Mac App Store.

  • How can i find the file size before downloading

I am trying to decide if I want to download a tv show [Doctor Who] in standard definition or high definition.  How can I see the file size before I purchase the show from iTunes?

    1. That's only getting the file size of the Preview.
    2. Click on a photo to select it. Then click on the info button. You can get the dimensions and the file size in the top of the pane
Note that the final size of any image will depend on the export settings you choose.

  • IMac to PC - PC can't adjust incoming image size, volume

I am new at this, but have had good experiences with iMac to iMac video chats. However, when going iMac to PC (with AIM 5.9), the person on the PC end can't figure out how to adjust the incoming picture size and volume. Currently the incoming picture is too small (about 3 inches by 3 inches) and the volume needs to be turned up. Can't find anything in the AIM documentation that addresses this. No problems at the iMac end.
Would appreciate any ideas you may have. Thanks.

  • How can I reduce the file size of my .cp project file?

I am working in CP3 and creating training programs via computer simulations.  Generally I try to eliminate any unnecessary animation in my slide (use of scroll bars, drop down menus etc.) because these seemed to increase my file size.  I do have audio narration on almost every slide and I know that this helps to bump up my size.
Here's what I found to be so odd.
I have to create a new training module and I simply opened one of my .CP projects and did a SAVE AS with a new file name.  I reduced the number of slides from 25 to 3.  The three slides I kept are the title slide, closing slide and one slide that I'll call a content slide that has the color for my highlight boxes and text formatting.  (I keep the content slide so I can simply copy and paste the boxes as I need them.)  I removed all the audio.  Finally I saved the new project.  Imagine my surprise when the new file is 96,333 KB with only 3 slides, no audio and no animation.  This is almost the same size as the original file.  I published my 3-slide project, thinking it might change the size, but that was wishful thinking.
I telelcommute from my home and I am required to check these files out of a secured document library each time I need to update them.  The upload time is KILLING ME!
What am I doing wrong?  The Information section shows the file size as 783.9KB which seems more in line with what I would expect.
Any help, as always is appreciated.

    Hi BIMB,
Here's my guess, others can correct if I'm way off.
What you see as the file size under the Cp4 Storyboard View Information is what the published file size would be sans any unused pics, audio, or swfs. So it should be relatively small given you only have 3 slides in your project.
What you see as the 'save as' version reflects all of the pics, audio, and/or .swfs you still have in your project's library.
Now if you've actually removed the audio files and pics from the Cp Library, then I'm not sure.
Curious to know if this helps,
    Keith

  • How can I bring the file size of jpegs down to ~60k?

Hi. I like to resize my photos to 800x600, 72dpi for upload to the web. Now, my cameras are usually set to maximum resolution, which can include 180 or 300dpi, but I can find no Automator action to change the dpi. Using Preview and/or Graphic Converter I always end up with a file size of ~270k which quite frankly is rubbish - if I do the same process in The GIMP it is typically ~60k with no visible loss of image quality, however The GIMP does not appear to be compatible with Automator.
My question is this: is there any way of making my jpegs ~60k without going below the 65% jpeg quality setting? Is there a free app that I can use? If I had Photoshop I would just use its Actions to batch process files, but I don't so I can't.
Any help would be much appreciated!

  • How can I reduce the file size of a pdf when exporting?

I don't want to just choose between high quality print or smallest file size.
I want to export it from 60MB to 40MB.
Can I do this manually? When I use smallest file size the quality is too low and the content looks bad.
But high quality print exports my PDF at 60MB which is too big.

You cannot simply legislate the size of a PDF file. If you content is primarily text and vector, there is not much at all you can do to reduce PDF file size other than to cut out content. Otherwise, the only other variables are those of downsampling and compressing the raster images from your content.
You must be very careful in choosing the PDF export settings. The “smallest size” settings yield PDF files that realistically really are not fit for printing and may mess up any CMYK colors. The “high quality print” and “PDF/X-4” settings yield best print output, but yield the largest PDF files since they do less image resolution downsampling and only the maximum quality lossy JPEG compression.
I would recommend that you start with either the “high quality print” or the “PDF/X-4” settings and make a custom set of export settings. Assuming that you aren't going for offset or gravure printing, change the color image and grayscale image downsampling values from 300 and 450 to either 200 and 275 or no less than 150 and 225. If that doesn't give enough file size reduction, change the compression image quality from “Maximum” to either “High” or no less than “Medium.” Beyond these changes, you may end up with PDF files that will neither print nor display with any reasonable quality.

  • How can I reduce the file size of 3 videos?...

...without losing quality? These three videos are as follows in terms of size and length of the video:
    1) 148MB 19minutes
    2) 357MB 18minutes
    3) 164MB 14minutes
I tried using a video converter to reduce the bit rate in order to reduce the size, which i know affects the quality, but that did not actually work to reduce the file size this time.
I thought perhaps i should ask my forum friends for help on this matter. How,if at all, can I get all three of these MOV's under 100mb or to a total of 300mb for all 3 and preserve quality? It has to be able to play on an ipad (MOV or MP4). Thanks for your help!

I think that the point that David was trying to make is that reducing the amount of information originally provided by a product or part of it in order to make it smaller will inevitably reduce the efficiency of the product itself.
However, you don't have access to the original masters? Then you might be after a good compromise, meaning a video that can display decent quality while playing at its original frame size (say on the web).
Does this mean that there is no real way to reduce the size without losing quality?
If your target is the web there is a way to reduce the file size and still make it look decent enough. Re-compression means loss of source information but video compression is an art on its own and can produce some amazing results!
    Not without testing though.
Now back to my previous post, use Compressor to try to reduce the file size and compare the result quality. Trust your eyes and be honest with yourself.

  • How can I limit the vertical size of the plot legend?

    Hi all,
in my program I use a waveform graph and its plot legend.
My problem is that the vertical size of the plot legend increases out of my frame and screen if I add too many plots to the graph!!!!
Is there a possibilty to limit the vertical size of the plot legend and/or to use a vertical scrollbar in the plot legend?
    I use LV 8.2.1 .
    Thanks
    daHans

You can write to the "Active Plot" property node. The example given in the thread I linked to before shows using this. Did you take a look at that example?
I'm only suggesting the alternative of an "Active Plot" control if you're trying to give the user the ability to manipulate one of the plots (like color, point style, etc). If you have a lot of plots, and the plot legend is too big, you can provide a numeric control where the user selects the plot, and then additional controls to set the properties for that plot. Not as intuitive as the plot legend, but if that's what you've gotta do, that's what you've gotta do. Attached is a simple example (LabVIEW 8.20).
