Can I link multiple apple IDs to my itunes account?

The issue I have is that my son has an Ipod Touch 5th gen and wants to keep the music and apps that I have in my Itunes account ( right now the ipod is sync'd with my itunes account). I have set up restrictions for the Ipod that limits what he can do (access the web, download apps, etc). Of course he wants to be able to add apps, music etc to his ipod but I dont want to wont give him access to my itunes password.
The short of it is that I want to know if I can create an Itunes ID for him that links to my account so that he can have access to the family's apps and music but still enable him to add/delete apps and music from his device only.

No, sorry.  Purchases are permanently tied to the AppleID used when making the purchase - they cannot be transferred, merged or shared with any other AppleID.
You would have to login with your AppleID and password, download what he wants on the device, then logout.  He would also need your password for any updates.

  • Using two apple IDs on one Itunes account

I recently purchases a ipad for my 86 year old mother. I want to also add music to it that I have cd's for. She now has an Apple ID of her own and I have my own Apple ID. The problem is this, when I log out of my itunes account and log in as her, I can still see all my music library as her. How do I see NOTHING under her account, until I actually load in music for her. Then can i sync her ipad using my OWN Mac and have it appear on her ipad? I have not enabled home sharing at all. Thank you!

Phil, I am confused about your statement/answer:
""Is it possible to create two Apple IDs on one iTunes account?"
    Yes.  I have two."
    Apple says:
"An Apple ID is a user name you use for everything you do with Apple. Creating an account for an Apple service, such as the iTunes Store or the App Store, creates an Apple ID. Apple ID allows you to access other Apple services. You don't have to create a new account for each service—just use your Apple ID."
Thus an Apple ID is the same as the iTunes account.
Did you mean can yu use more than one Apple ID on one iPod because yuo know the answr is yes.
Or have I go something wrong?

  • How to FaceTime and iMessage on multiple apple devices with one iTunes account

We recently received iPad 2's for Christmas and was looking for some advice on how to FaceTime and iMessage on multiple apple devices with One iTunes Account (Apple Id).  I have created or attached other e-mail addresses to our apple id but do not know how to use them on the new devices.  Our home MacBook Pro uses our main apple id for FaceTime.  The iPads have been setup with the main apple id w/o being able to use FaceTime and iMessage.
    Please Help...
I appreciate the help and support.

    P and V-
If you are trying to connect to someone with a different Apple ID, I think all the devices should work, but one at a time.
The problem is when you try to connect between two with the same Apple ID.  Once the calling device tries to make the connection, it finds the second device to be "busy".  That is where each needs to use a different E-Mail address when setting it up.
On iOS devices, when you press the Home button to exit an App, the App may still be active in the background, even when the device is sleeping.  If FaceTime or iMessage is merely being active that way, it may be enough to "tie up" the E-Mail address.
From the Home screen, double click your Home button.  You will see a list of recent Apps along the bottom of the screen.  Press and hold on one of them until they start to wiggle.  You will then see a red minus sign on each.  Pressing the minus sign will remove an App from the list, and stop it from working in the background.  (Click the Home button to stop the wiggling, and again to hide the recent Apps.)

    Hi sandexpress,
As Ocean20 indicates, you want to make sure that you have automatic syncing turned off. In iTunes Preferences under Devices, make sure you have "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically" checked. Then connect each iPhone, and make sure that "Manually Manage Music and Videos" is checked on the Info page for each of them. Then go into each page for each device, and select what you want to sync to that particular device. (you would do this one device at a time - complete the steps for one of the phones, then connect the next one and do the same thing).
With this kind of setup, you can modify what will sync at any given time for a particular device once you have connected it to iTunes, but before you click on the Sync button at the bottom of the screen. If you want to change some sync options on a particular device, you would just go into the page you wanted to change (Music, Photos, Apps, etc.), make your changes, and then Sync.
If you do not have any changes, you can just hook up the phone and click on Sync.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers,

  • Can i setup multiple Apple IDs on one computer

    Hi
My partner and I recently sold our laptops and bought an iMac and want to keep our itunes, music, playlists separate.  Is it possible to setup multiple Apple IDs on one computer?
    Thanks
    Denise

Each person in your home can have their own Apple ID provided it is tied the their own separate email address.
iTunes permits up to five authorized computers connected to a single Apple ID: iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.
For this all to work well, however, each user in your household should have a separate user account on the computer they commonly use.

  • HT204053 Can you have multiple apple ids that access one itune account??

I need to know if I can have multiple Apple Ids attached to one itunes account.  Trying to set facetime up on these separate devices and it keeps failing.  Any help would be appreciated.  I tried to add additional emails, but I all I get is verifying and it never verifies it.

yes you can still sync all the devices on itunes using one master itunes/appleID account.
    Music:
If you want to select specific playlists for your kids, DON'T enable iTunes Match on their devices, otherwise they will get ALL the playlists on their devices (learned that the hard way)
If you have wi-fi synced enabled that should still work.
    Apps:
I manually select which apps they get on their devices using itunes. It only changes when they re-sync.
Don't enable AUTO downloads on their devices for Apps or Music purchases.
Since I also have young kids using these devices:
I have restrictions setup on their devices. I don't allow them to install/delete apps, nor do I allow them to make any account changes on their devices. This way their devices stay in order and get backed up to icloud. I can easily restore their devices if I needed too.
Once in a while I will disable the restrictions so I can update all their apps.
    Hope this helps!

  • Can I use multiple apple ids with iTunes Match?

My family has multiple apple ids although we share many devices.  If we subscribe to iTunes Match, will it pull all the content from all the devices or just one apple id?

iTunes Match is associated with one, and only one, iTunes Store account. To use iTM on multiple devices all those devices must be signed into the mobile iTunes Store with the same AppleID.

  • How can i create multiple apple ids from the same mac

There seems to be a limit on how many apple ids can be created from the same cpu. Trying to create 100 apple ids for a client to use on ipads distributed to employees i found i could only create three or four before i got the message account cannot be created, contact itunes support. Had the same problem creating multiple itunes accounts through the App Store.

I found this discussion because I need to create dozens of Apple IDs for the faculty and staff of the school for which I'm the IT Director.
    This is weak.
Apple, PLEASE upgrade the Apple ID system so it represents the current needs and paradigm.
What am I thinking, Apple (like Google) don't follow user discussion forums, except by accident when an employee sees something and is motivated enough to carry the water for users in need.

  • Can there be multiple apple ids on one account?

I want to share my iTunes account with my daughter so that she can download and update apps on her iphone, but I don't like that she needs to use my apple id and password, which could give her access to my email. She doesn't realize this yet, but it's only a matter of time. Is there any way to give her her own apple id, connected to my account?

Never mind; I believe I found my answer - in a nutshell, everyone needs their own apple accounts and ids.
Now, is there any way to delete a previously asked question such as this?

  • Link multiple Apple IDs for Facetime

Hello most helpful people! I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I haven't been able to find a solution.
So, in my household, we have a "family" iPad and each one of us has our own iPhone, Macbook, etc. (we're so close to being a pure Mac family...) I was wondering:
    1) Is it possible to give each family member their own iCloud account to allow for iCloud backups for their own device
    2) Allow each device to download its own content with their own Apple ID? (This I'm willing to change to a communal ID for App downloads, etc. as I can disable automatic downloads correct?)
    3) Allow the communal iPad to ring&pick up FaceTime calls for each member (I was thinking have a communal apple id and then somehow linking each email to that id? would that work?
Currently, I tried to link another apple id to "receive messages/calls at" but it gives me an error as the emails are already associated with an apple id.
It'd be awesome if someone can help me devise a way to go about this! I'm completely stumped on how to approach this (and really, just doubting if this is even at all possible with how apple has set itself up.)
Thanks in advance for the input!

You can't just make up an email address to use as an AppleID since Apple send a confirmation/validation email to that address before enabling the account. If you can't get that email, you can't verify the account, so you're hosed.
All is not lost, though. There are many free email services you can use to get a valid, working email address which could be used as your alter-ego. Try Google's GMail for one.

  • Can I have multiple Apple IDs on one email address?

How do I register for and Apple ID for my husband's ipad when I am using the family email for my own Apple ID?

An email account can only have one Inbox, and each email account can only be on one iTunes account. I don't use Virgin Media, but some providers allow you to have sub accounts under the main account, or can you create a second Virgin Media account to use on a second iTunes accout ? You can also create free email accound via, for example, http://hotmail.com and http://gmail.com
But you can use the same iTunes account on more than iPad - all content that you buy/download from the iTunes store is tied to the iTunes account that downloads it, so if you want to have the same apps, music, films etc on both then continuing to have just the one account may be preferable.
