Can I listen to WAZE app commands on a bluetooth headset on my iPhone 5?

Just got an iPhone 5.  Able to easily link its Bluetooth to my 2011 Audi TT for hands free driving.  However, the TT entertainment system Bluetooth audio is limited to phone calls only (confirmed this with my Audi service advisor but maybe someone knows a work-around?).  My biggest issue is that I want to hear navigation commands and traffic advisories from my WAZE app while I listen to music from my car radio but the iPhone speaker is no loud enough to hear clearly.  (My wife's 2012 Mercedes E350 allows me to do this via its Bluetooth connection.) Will I be able to hear the WAZE information if I use a Bluetooth ear piece or head set?  Are there specific capabilities the headset needs to have for this to work?  (Read somewhere that mono earpieces will not support this.)  Will I have to disconnect my car's Bluetooth to get it to work while driving?

Thanks for the answer.  I did a little more investigating and found the following information.  The reason why some iPhone 5 Bluetooth connections (to a car or earsets) only provide phone service is that the device you are connecting to only supports a lower Bluetooth protocol with mono sound.  The iPhone 5 Bluetooth connection for phone uses the mono protocol.  Many apps, like WAZE use a newer bluetooth protocol that uses stereo sound which the iPhone also supports.  So theoretically, any newer earset should work with apps but I have seen posts of some models that do not.  Perhaps this is operator error.  I bought the Jawbone Icon too and it definitely works.
If you buy a Jawbone, beware of certain vendors.  Many on Amazon and eBay are selling "factory refurbished" or other sources that are getting a lot of complaints about reliability and Jawbone does not recognize the warranty unless it is sold by an authorized retailer (usually at the full list price of $130).  Get one that is being sold in the original factory packaging.  They start at around $50 from non-authorized vendors on Amazon and eBay.

Can I listen to my audio books with my bluetooth earpiece on my iphone 4S?

    Of course you can:
put the music on, press the home button once (the player gets away, but the music still plays), open the bookreader and read the book.
The music plays as long as you do not END the player by double clicking the home button and then holding the player icon until it wiggles and tap the red minus sign).

  • I have Sunglasses Bluetooth Headset and Apple Iphone 4, I Can Communicate Calls Using Headset. But I can't Listen Musics Using Headset.

I have Sunglasses Bluetooth Headset and Apple Iphone 4, I Can Communicate Calls Using Headset. But I can't Listen Musics Using Headset.

The iPhone supports the following Bluetooth profiles. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3647
In order to play music through the headset, it must support this particular profile, A2DP.  You can check the specs on the headset to see if it does support that. Not all headsets that support phone calls will support music.

  • Can you update an iOs app and change its platform offering from iPad/iPhone to just iPad?

When building a new app with Adobe DPS to update an existing app, can you update an iOs app and change its platform offering from iPad/iPhone to just iPad?

Vinod is correct in that you can build a new app that's iPad-only, but if you try to submit it as an update to the existing app, Neil is correct--Apple will reject it because it's considered a downgrade. You either need to stick to the universal app and do something like create a single iPhone folio that refers users to the iPad, or you need to submit it as a new app.

  • Can I share a bluetooth headset with my iPhone 4 and my Mac?

Can I share a bluetooth headset with my iPhone 4 and my Mac? I don't mean both at the same time. I just think it's silly to buy a separate headset for each. I'd like to be able to sometimes use the headset with my Mac and other times use it with my iPhone. Is this possible? How hard is it to set up and is it annoying to switch over from one to the other.
The headset would be used 75% of the time with my iPhone.

Contacts can be synced direct with Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 via the iTunes sync process along with syncing calendar events, notes, and reminders. This is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
If you don't use Outlook for contacts - your Outlook address book is empty, before the first sync for this data enter one contact in the Outlook address book. This will provide a merge prompt with the first sync for this data.
Or if your iPhone 4 is running iOS 6, you can create your hotmail account using the hotmail account preset with the iPhone's Mail app per the instructions included with this link. If your iPhone 4 is not running iOS 6, you will need to manually create the account as an Exchange account.
    http://www.wikihow.com/Sync-a-Hotmail-Account-on-an-iPhone
Regardless if you have any contacts available in your hotmail online address book, you should be provided a merge prompt when turning contacts on for over the air syncing with your hotmail account settings on the iPhone, which you want to select. This will merge your existing iPhone contacts with your hotmail online address book and merge your hotmail online address book with your iPhone contacts.
To have the contacts available on the iPhone 5, create your hotmal account with the Mail.app on the iPhone 5 followed by turning contacts on for over the air syncing with the account settings on the iPhone.
Or after syncing your iPhone 4 contacts direct with your Outlook address book, sync your Outlook contacts with the iPhone 5.

  • Can anybody actually RECOMMEND a bluetooth headset for the iPhone?

I see a lot of bad experiences, & not too many good ones.
Can anybody actually RECOMMEND a bluetooth headset for the iPhone? I just need one that works, with very little features (ie: redial button on headset).

I've actually posted another thread, and I don't mean to take over the original members post, but I'm hoping this will help others who may be having the same problems. Thanks to all of you who have posted your results with the various headsets!
I am now on my third iPhone 3G in under six months. The first one would drop calls when the corded Apple headset was plugged in during the call, and the second would cause the caller on the other end to hear an echo when I used the Apple headset. Plus, it did not respond well at all to Bluetooth headsets. Tons of static, call echoes, and noise cancellation not working.
My experience with the Jawbone 2 has been disappointing. I have heard way too many testimonials of satisfied iPhone users who love the JB2, so I'm beginning to think it's just me. I went through FOUR Jawbone 2 devices in under a month, all because of poor sound quality, and the Noise Assassin not working properly.
The white rubber tip sat very well against my cheek, and the default medium earpiece fit perfectly in my ear and was very comfortable to wear. Everything seemed to be in order, but the same problems would arise over and over again. I would get poor sound quality on both ends of the call, and people could hear the tv or the radio playing in the background on my end.
Maybe the structure of my head isn't suited for the JB2, but I have a very normally proportioned head. I refuse to believe it's the device——It has been rated highly by too many people to be the issue. I've all but given up on it, regrettably.
The Plantronics Discovery 665 I tested had issues with static. I would hear it on my end, even thought the phone was no more than two feet away.
I'll give the Plantronics 925 a try, as well as the Blue Ant V1. We'll see...

  • I can't get my in apps purchases on Dismount to move from my iPhone to iPad

I can't get my in app purchases to move over from my iPhone to iPad.  I have try to re buy but it says it's already installed so I can't even re purchase the in-apps. Suggestions?

I don't know that app particularly but most apps have some button called "restore in-app purchases"

  • Can't hear Voice Command prompt over bluetooth headset

    Hello,
I paired my Jawbone Prime headset with my new iPhone 3GS, and for the first day or so I was able to activate Voice Commands by pressing & holding the "Noise Assassin" button. First the headset would beep, then the Voice Command screen would come up on the iPhone, and when the the phone was ready, I'd hear the Voice Command prompt. Everything was great.
Then, suddenly one afternoon, the headset beeped an extra time, and I no longer hear the Voice Command prompts. I don't hear the initial prompt, or any further prompts such as "home or cell?" or the voice telling me what song is playing.
I have tried pairing/unpairing, resetting the phone and the headset, and every combination thereof.
Has anyone else encountered this or have any suggestions?

I wish I could say that was the problem, but it was not.  I keep the phone in vibrate mode all the time, but I took it out to try and increase the volume for notification, but it was up all the way already.  FYI - the bluetooth volume is all the way up too.
I sent a message to Motorola last night to see if they have a solution.  They already upped it to the next level of support to resolve, so I am hoping to hear something from them soon.

  • How to listen/watch videos on ipad mini with bluetooth headset

how can I listen/watch videos (e.g You Tube) on ipad mini with bluetooth headset. The headset is paired but the sound comes only from the ipad mini internal speaker

I was the fan of this feature until ios 6 version. I have two mini ipads @ my home for my kids. It helped my kids a lot to play all the episodes within a tv show. Apple some how decided kill the features linked to someone's patent in ios 7, thereby they can avoid paying royalty fee to the patent holder. Even from the initial days there are lot of such features missed out in ipad, iphone or MAC. You might overlook these features as a consumer.
I will be surprised if Apple listens to this customer feedback.
I am seeing the same question being raised in many forums including within apple forums.

  • Can't get MacBook Pro to recognize Motorola H500 Bluetooth headset

    Hello all,
I am trying to get my MacBook Pro to recognize a Motorola H500 Bluetooth headset. Bluetooth is ON and "discoverable" on my mac. When I go to system preferences and click "bluetooth", then "devices", the headset won't show up (it is turned ON). I tried clicking "Set up new device..." and won't work either.
Any tips on how i can make this work?
    Thanks a lot!

You need to put the H500 into discoverable mode:
    turn it off
hold "call button" for 5 seconds or until the sold blue circle light appears
now go do the bluetooth set up on your Mac....your H500 will show up and then just click thru continue....

  • How can I find the Reminders app -- cannot see it on any of my iPhone's screens; want to locate and move to Home screen?  Thx!

I found it via Search ... but for the life of me, all of our screens are full of apps; where is Reminders at?  Thanks!  :] JB

If you have more apps that will fit on 11 screens, the ones that aren't showing can only be accessed by search. Connect your iPhone to iTunes and rearrange your apps. You'll be able to see them all that way.

  • Listening to ipod/apps(pandora) through car bluetooth

I have no trouble with using my iphone for calls on my bluetooth in my car. Now I want to be able to use the ipod function or apps like pandora to listen to music through it. It must be possible, I just want to figure out how to do it.

One solution for Pandora is to use a 3.5 mm input if you car has one. My car actually has a usb port, which enables me to charge the phone and listen to the ipod part thru the radio, but in order to use Pandora, I had to go the 3.5 mm jack route.
