Can i load data directly into DSO without PSA?
hi friends,
can i load data into DSO directly without PSA(without infopackage), if possible ple let me know where can i do that in dtp?
regards
ss
Suneel,
Why don't you try it to see if error DTP is possible with a flat file ds or not?
Or, extrapolate logically -
- An error DTP is based on a regular DTP.
- In any situation where you can have a DTP, why can you not have an error DTP? I would think there would be no reason for this.
At this point of my reasoning I will give it a try to validate if my assumption (DTP possible==>Error DTP possible) is correct or not.
regards,

Can I use LabVIEW to load data directly into system memory from a VI? The serial card I'm using isn't supported by NI nor does VISA recognize it. I'm using a Call Library function to read the data from the card and now I want it to go directly to system memory.
The data is being received at 1Mbps.
ThanksTwo questions:
One, if it's a serial card, then presumably it gives you more serial ports, like COM3, COM4, etc. If so, VISA would see the COM ports, and not the card directly. The drivers for the card should make it so that you see the extra serial ports from the OS. If you don't see the extra COM ports from VISA, then it sounds like the drivers for the card are not installed properly. Do the extra COM ports show up in Device Manager?
Two, you said that you're using a Call Library function to get the data and you want to put it into system memory. Errr.... you just read the data and you have it in memory by definition. Are you saying you need a way to parse the data so it shows up on a graph or something? -
Can I upload PowerPoint directly into Connect without using Adobe Presenter?
I have a PowerPoint file (.ppt as well as .pptx) and the slides are fairly simple - mostly bullet point lists in Arial or Calibri font (nothing wild and crazy). When I upload the content directly into the Connect envrionment, the formatting of the slides (in the share pod) is all wacky. Instead of it sizing the slides to fit the share pod, the bullet points go down past the bottom of the pod and cannot be read.
I was told that the only solution to this is to purchase Adobe Presenter and publish my PowerPoint files (using Presenter) into Adobe Connect. That is not an option for me at my company. It seems like uploading a simple PowerPoint should be a basic feature of Connect without having to download/purchase Presenter licenses. Maybe I'm wrong. Below are a few images in case this is not making sense. If anyone has advice, PLEASE let me know. I cannot possibly using connect for virutal training if slides look the way they do below. Thanks!
The first image is the PowerPoint slide
Here is what it looks like in the Share Pod:Thanks Robert,
I tried to ask Adobe for a short list of supported / unsupported fonts but the tech kept telling me he could not give me that information. I thought I tried Arial to no avail but I can do so again. Just reformatted everything in Garamond and it worked fine.
Thank you again. -
How can I capture video directly into FCP without recording to tape first?
I hooked my Sony VX2000 to the computer via firewire and opened the Log and Capture dialog box. The video from my camera shows correctly in the preview window.
I click the Capture Now button and the capture window opens but no video displayed. The message below the window says "Waiting for Timecode".
I guess the camera doesn't send timecode when it's not recording so I press the record button. Now video shows up in the capture window. After 16 frames it freezes and an error box pops up that says "Capture Now has reached the end of the tape. All existing footage between the point where you started the capture and the end of the tape was captured successfully."
Foiled again! This has been a problem from time to time when I want to capture video from a source that does not supply timecode.
Is there any settings I can change to capture video directly from a camera using FCP without having to record it to tape in one step and then capture it in a second step?
Thanks,
Rob:-]
FCP 5.1.2 Mac OS X (10.4.8) Dual 1.8GHz Power PC G5, 3GB ramI thought I had tried that. Thanks, that was the answer.
I am aware of the danger of not having tape backup. Having worked with the new Panasonic AG-HVX200 it is a chore to free up the P2 cards fast enough to keep from starving the camera crew. Copying the P2 contents to a single hard drive is the practice but leaves the whole shoot at the mercy of a single point of failure.
As far as my capturing directly to HD, it isn't a problem for short podcasts that could be recreated quickly if lost. Also, I can still record to tape in the camera but avoid the second step of capture when I'm in my edit bay anyway.
Peace,

Can we load data for all levels in ASO cube
Hi All,
Can we load data for all levels of members in ASO cube in 9.3.1.
RegardsYes you can load data for all levels in an ASO cube in any version HOWEVER, none of the upper level data in any cube will be there when you look for it. You will get a warning message in the load because ASO cubes don't store data at upper levels. It is the same as loading data into dynamic calc members in BSO cube. It will do the load without compalints, but there will be no data there (At least you get the warning in ASO)

164Hi Hardeep,
Looks like the transformation and DTP need to be activated again.
The error is RSBK (299) - 'Invalid program status'. So please activate the transformation and DTP possibly activate the DSO's too.
It should then work.
Thanks

How to load metadata directly into essbase 9.3 ?
Hi all,
When I load metadata directly into essbase with IKM SQL to Hyperion Essbase (METADATA).
My metadata is already on Microsoft SQL 2000. After execute an interface that load metadata to essbase and check in the essbase outline , It seem that outline data could not retrieve correctly. And still have many rejected records.
My question is :
Can I use the same rule file that used for load a metadata from text file?
Because in this case I use the same rule file that load metadata from text file.
Let me know if need more information on this.
Thank you in advance.Hi,
You can use the same rules file, make sure in the IKM options you have the same rules seperator as in your rules file.
You can also turn on error logging and logging in the IKM options so you should get more information to why the metaload is failing
Cheers
John

Loading DATE datatype into a measure
Hi Folks,
Is there any way to load DATE values into a measure? Is yes, how?
I'm using OLAP 10G.
Thanks,
JSouferHi Richard,
This suggests to me that timezone is a feature, and that specifying the UTC time is required. Perhaps others can add more detail.

Problem in loading data from one DSO to onother DSO in BI7
Hi
Iam loading data from one DSO to onother, After executing DTP Iam getting error message as "Aggregation NOP not allowed on DB (key figure 0DSCT_DAYS1) ", Here 0DSCT_DAYS1 is the keyfigure aggragation type is "NOP" , exception aggregation is " No aggregation(X if more than one value unique to 0 occurs)"
Please kindly give me solution .
Radha KrishnaWe had this issue in our project. It mainly arises when you have written start routine in transformation. At start routine level it can not aggregate the fields for which NOP is set & that's why it throws an error.
Please check the load by removing the start routine. If it works then introduce a data target in between which has exactly same structure as previous data target except the fields with NOP aggregation. -
How to paste tabbed data directly into FM7 table cells?
<<<<on edit.... changed FM8 to FM7... I have FM7, not FM8>>>
Hello
I'm working on a documentation job that requires a pasting external data into existing table cells in FM7.
I have tried several things but I can't find a way to paste the data directly into the table cells. The source data can be delimited text, or spreadsheet cells. Neither can be pasted into an existing table. The only way I can make this work is to first paste it into FM as text, then convert it to another table, and then copy/paste from that table into the existing one. This is a lot of extra work and it seems there should be a way to paste external data directly across table cells. I also tried "paste special" but that is not an option when I have table cells selected.
Any ideas???
It would be much appreciated!
Thanks
Gary BeckwithGary, just had a thought -- I've worked on several projects where I used variables in tables that might work better for you.
Basically the idea is to pre-populate the tables in your chapter with variables in the cells, and then import a minimalist MIF file that only contains the variable definitions for the pre-existing variables. The minimalist MIF file can be made quite easily from a database or from an Excel CSV or TSV export by using various scripting utilities to convert comma-delimited text into the MIF syntax.
I've created chapters that had hundreds of thousands of cells with variables in them, and updating the variables is incredibly quick.
The best way to approach the variable naming is to come up with a convention that is easy to apply, I found .r1c1 etc to be a good starting point (the period so that the variables all sort in the same place in FM, the lower-case letters to make the variable's name as horizontally short as possible. -
Can we load data for all levels in ASO?
Hi All,
Im creating cube in ASO
can i load data for all levels in ASO
we can load data for all Levels In BSO but in ASO i need confirmation????
and one more
wat is the consider all levels option in ASO is used for ? wat is the purpose?
Can any one help ,it would be appriciate.
ThanksIn an ASO cube you can only load to level zero
The consider all levels if used for aggregation hints. It allows you to tell the aggregation optimizer to look at all levels when deciding if aggregation needs to be done on the dimension -
Data load failed while loading data from one DSO to another DSO..
Hi,
On SID generation data load failed while loading data from Source DSO to Target DSO.
Following are the error which is occuuring--
Value "External Ref # 2421-0625511EXP " (HEX 450078007400650072006E0061006C0020005200650066
Error when assigning SID: Action VAL_SID_CONVERT, InfoObject 0BBP
So, i'm not getting WHY in one DSO i.e Source it got successful but in another DSO i.e. Target its got failed??
While analyzing all i check that SIDs Generation upon Activation is ckecked in source DSO but not in Target DSO..so it is reason its got failed??
Please explain..
Thanks,
SnehaHi,
I hope your data flow has been designed in such a way where the 1st DSO as a staging Device and all transformation rules and routine are maintained in between 1st to 2nd dso and sid generation upon activation maintained in 2nd DSO. By doing so you will be getting your data 1st DSO same as your source system data since you are not doing any transformation rules and routine etc.. which helps to avoid data load failure.
Please analyze the following
Have you loaded masterdata before transaction data ... if no please do it first
go to the property of first dso and check whether there maintained sid generation up on activation (it may not be maintained I guess)
Goto the property of 2nd Dso and check whether there maintained sid generation up on activation (It may be maintained I hope)
this may be the reason.
Also check whether there is any special char involvement in your transaction data (even lower case letter)
Regards
BVR
