Can I load OS 10.2 on my Mac Pro?

My Mac Pro recently had a drive crash... The system drive.  So I need to install Lion, which is only available on line.  I have installler disks for 10.2 left over from when I had a G4. Is 10.2 compatible with my Mac Pro, just enough to get me on line and get Lion installed, or do I need 10.6 as the minimum OS?
Thanks
Bruce

Find your Mac pro in the following page, navigate to the linked page for that machine, and scroll down to the "preinstalled OS" section:

The recommended Leopard is likely a safe bet, but a retail disc is hard to come by and expensive.
Just buy a retail Snow Leopard and then move to Lion:

Can I load 10.4.7 Server on mac pro 1.1

You can probably replace your existing OS X with OS X 10.4.7 Server but I don't advise it unless you know what you are doing. OS X Server is quite complicated compared with normal OS X. Unless you want to do file sharing with a large number of people it has little advantage over the normal OS X.
You can learn more about some of the issues by reading posts on the Server forum:

Can I load Microsoft Office Word 2011 for MAC on an IPAD 2?  If yes, then how?  I have the software and one more load opportunity left.
Reason that I ask is that I'm worried that I will not be able to read or work word or excel docs that people send me.

No. Office 2011 for Mac is coded to run with OS X. In order to work on the iPad the app must be coded for iOS instead.
If you look in the iTunes App Store, you will find that there are many apps that allow you to work with Office files on an iPad.

Can I load a purchased movie from my Mac onto the iPod ?
Yes, if the iPod is a Fifth Generation iPod, iPod classic, iPod touch, or a third or fourth generation iPod nano, and the movie is in iTunes. A Fifth Generation iPod can't play rented movies.

  • Can I put two GT120's in a Mac Pro?

I just put a ATI 4870 in my Mac Pro and I took out the standard GT120. My father has a Mac Pro as well and I thought about putting the card to use by installing it in his Mac Pro.
Both our Mac Pros are the most recent version. Only difference is that his is 4 core and mine is 8.
So can I do this? Can I put two GT120's in his Mac Pro, and would it even make a difference for him. He mainly uses Aperture 2, and Office apps.

Two cards only allow more displays to be connected.
Rendering for all displays is still done with only the primary card.
The information is then passed along the PCIe bus to the additional cards.
What additional cards actually do is to increase bandwidth loading of the PCIe bus, which can result in a net decrease in performance.
Some applications are not multi card aware, and can result in negative performance.
One example is the case of two identical cards and FCP:
    http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/non-linear-editing-mac/145449-dual-graphics-cards-ma c-pro-final-cut-pro.html
Note that the "solution", that is to use two different cards, is a result of the fact that rendering occurs on only one card.

Don't know! You'll have to give us more details of what's happening when you try. Can you print other documents OK? When you try to print, does the printer icon appear in the dock - click on it and see if there are any printer messages.

  • How can I hook up 3 screens to a Mac Pro 8 core 2010 model?

How can I hook up 3 screens to a Mac Pro 8 core. One is a 23' Apple Cinema Display, the second is a 20" Apple cinema display and the 3rd is a 32' Sony Bravia HDTV (connected to mini port with mini/HDMI connector) Do I need to buy another video card? I have heard  about 4 different scenarios about this, and they all sound a bit complicated. I thought that you could automatically connect 3 displays with the card that comes with the MacPro. It has a DVI port and 2 mini ports, so it appears that would be for 3 displays. But this is where it gets strange. Any thoughts?

Which video card?  5x70?  If you read about the various scenarios thern for 5x70's you need two active adapters for thee monitors (TV considered a monitor).  And you should have seen references to these apple docs:
Mac Pro (Mid 2010), Mac Pro (Early 2009): Issues with three displays and multiple DVI, HDMI connections
Mac Pro (Early 2009), Mac Pro (Mid 2010): Supported display configurations
It's not really complicated.  Search out the appropriate adapters and hook 'em up.   For the 23" and 20", if they are DVI, you need single link adapters.  For the TV, if you end up using the DVI port for it (because possibly you can't find the appropate adapter cmbination) then you need to handle the audio separately since DVI doesn't carry audio.

How large can an internal hard drive be on a Mac Pro part #ZOD8 ?

Mac Pro tower can support drives up to 4TB is size.
If running 10.8.4, 10.8.5 or 10.9.0, there is a bug in Disk Utility that precludes proper erasing of drives over 2.2TB as Internal drives

I suppose you can. You're talking about the desktop Mac Pro, right?
just takin' a stab at it here, but I think elgato has a game capture box which might be helpful. It does mention xbox 360 and ps3.  if it's for a MacBook Pro, I can't say for sure. Maybe blackmagic??

Why I can't paired my iPhone 6 with my Mac Pro?

Some of the continuity steps require you to have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on. Some require you to be logged into the same Wi-Fi network. Either way, the answer to your question is that it will not pair with your Mac.

Can Microsoft Word and Excel be migrated to mac pro?

You can also install Windows (new activation copy) on your Mac and use Windows natively, or for 99.9% of running Office apps, run Windows as a guest VM is fine. The data can be opened and edited and exported back to native Office format and opened in OpenOffice and others, or in Pages and Numbers, though whether those are satisfactory solutions or not you'll have to decide.
If you have a copy of Office that includes PC and mobile devices and Mac? like Office 365 for 5 devices?
But the actual apps of course are platform / OS specific.
And right now if you are running Windows 8.1 for instance, you can download the ISO and install Windows 10 Technical Preview (very nice btw, combines a lot of desired features). Have only run into one small problem in using it so far.
VirtualBox is free Oracle VM or there are commercial VM products. To run Windows natively you just use a Mac utility, Boot Camp Assistant, to partition a drive (internal) and to install and provides Mac specific drivers.

  • How can i stream(air mirroring) *.mkv files between Mac Pro and AppleTV2 by using quicktimeX?

How can i stream(air mirroring) *.mkv files between Mac Pro and AppleTV2 by using quicktimeX?
    Need support!

How can i stream(air mirroring) *.mkv files between Mac Pro and AppleTV2 by using quicktimeX?
As stated you can't. Even if the compressed data is TV compatible, the container is not. If the file is playback compatible with the QT X Player, you can, of course, play the file on your main system and "mirror" its display to the TV. Unfortunately, this normally means only the video is played back via the TV device. On the other hand, if you convert the MKV content to an TV compatible file (or move the compressed data to an TV compatible container if the data is already TV compatible), then you can mirror the QT X player (with audio) to the TV device in the full screen mode, air play/mirror it from iTunes (or any mobile device), or stream it directly from itunes.
Basically, what you can do here depends on the compressed data in the MKV file container and how you define "mirroring."

  • Can I install old G5 software onto my Mac Pro

    Hi all,
I have a Mac 8 Core Pro running Snow Leopard and Logic Pro 9.
I have slowly but surely been moving the software from my dual core G5 (OS X Tiger) to the Mac Pro.
I have a few software programs that I need advice on whether I can install them on the new Mac Pro.
Absynth 4 - Has Universal Binary but is for OSX 10.4
Trilogy Bass - Early Copy for OS9
DFH Superior - Early copy for Mac OS 10.2
Can the above be installed to my new Mac Pro or should I just forget it and not bother??
    Thanks in advance

Absynth 4 runs OK with the latest versions from NI (download the updaters using Service Center)
Trilogy.... Forget it... can run using a Wrapper, but it's really bad. (Does work though! Downloads from Spectrasonics. Much better to get the new Trilian instead.
Superior... latest versions run OK (DL from Toontrack)
