Can I lock items at favorites bar?

It happened to me a few times that I accidentally dragged bookmarks from the Favorites Bar while opening Safari. I opened it and wanted to drag the browser window to a location and accidentally dragged such a bookmark from the Favorites Bar, resulting in that 'poof' cloud and I had to see which bookmark I dragged out of it to add it again.
Isn't there some way to lock bookmarks from the Favorites Bar? Just like I can lock items from the Dock? Some Terminal command?

to lock the dock run the following commands from the terminal
defaults write com.apple.dock contents-immutable -bool true
killall Dock
Make sure you press enter after "killall Dock"
To unlock it change "true" to "false" in the above. Also, I believe Onyx http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs2/english/download.html
provides a UI way to do it if you are uncomfortable with using the terminal.

Items on Favorites Bar Automatically Re-Populate After Deleting Them

So after I delete an item from my favorites bar in IE11 it almost instantly reappears. I've confirmed the autocomplete setting for address bar and favorites is un-checked.
Internet Options>Content tab, 'Settings' button in Autocomplete section, UNchecked the options to use autocomplete for Address bar entries, including favorites.
I'm using IE11 with Windows 8.1, starting IE from the desktop (not from the start screen).
I've stopped and started IE, rebooted the PC. I've even deleted the 'Favorites Bar' folder in my profile; it too automatically re-appears. Next step I'm trying (barring a solution from the experts) is to uninstall and reinstall IE.
Should I also perhaps run malwarebytes (low-level virus checker/remover). I would hope the security features included with Win 8.1 and IE11 would prevent this from being a malware issue.
AAAGGHH - this is frustrating. HELP !!!

What is the result if we delete it from the folder C:\Users\username\Favorites\Links, then clean the recycle bin?

And does this issue occur in one a particular item or in all items in the favorites bar? Test in no add-ons mode, click Tools>Manage add-ons, disable all add-ons.
A security scan is needed in case some malware cause this issue

Can I have my Safari Favorites bar back?

Safari no longer has a Favorites bar. A side column of bookmarks is NOT a "bar" and takes up space in the window. If I want a full-sized window but want to access my Favorites, I have to keep clicking back and forth to get the Favorites to show up. Is there a way to get the Favorites back in a true top Bar? If not, can Apple make this an option in future upgrades? This is a step backward IMO.

Favorites should be available in full screen mode if that is what you are are referring to.

The top bar is referred to as the title bar, not Favorites.
Troubleshoot Safari extensions and third party plug-ins.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow all other plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.

Deleting item on favorite bar running above the tab bar, how do I do that?

Above the tab bar in Firefox there are a series of headings like Online Training, Most Visited, Animation Effects etc. How do I delete one of these items from that bar? In the past, I've emptied the cache, but I don't think this is a cache issue. Please advise. Mike Hortens

Thanks for replying, but I tried that earlier and had that did not work. After your reply I did it again, shutdown itunes and rebooted system. I thought since it didn't do that earlier that might work but same results it deleted file from Itunes but no second questions to move to recycle bin.

Can I lock items in my Dock?

My 4 year old daughter has a great game of dragging things out of my dock and watching the puff of smoke!!!.. great fun for her but a real pain for me!
With Tiger I used Transparent dock which had a check box that allowed you to lock the items in the dock.
Is there a way to do this on Leopard? If not then I think it would be a very useful feature!

CAn you walk me through the process of getting back my "Favorites" bar? I accidentally deleted it and can't get it to come back up.

I accidentally deleted my "Favorites" bar on my Mozilla Firefox bar at the top of my screen.
Could you please give me some VERY detailed instructions to get this back. I am a technotard. I have not got a lot of computer know-how.

You can right click on a toolbar (e.g. empty space on Tab bar) to get a context menu that allow to set which toolbars to display.
If the menu bar is visible then use:
* View > Toolbars
If the menu bar is hidden and you have the orange Firefox button then use:
* Firefox > Options

Do you mean the favorites items don't show up in favorites bar or even the favorites bar
doesn't shown up in IE?
I suggest you check whether the favorites link existing in the favorites bar folder, you can click the
in the up right corner, then expand folder "Favirites Bar", or manually check folder C:\Uses\username\Favorites\Favorites Bar
Or create new favorite item, then check if it works.
You can also try to launch IE in no add-on mode, then check the issue again, if problem disappears in this mode, then we can narrow down to find the culprit, launch IE by running

I'm not sure I understand why you say "I want the excel file storing part outside the case structure".
From the rest of your description, it sounds like you want to write to file only if something is true. That means that you put the write to file function inside the TRUE case.
You can pass the file refnum into the case and back out again, if you need to. Pass it straight thru in the FALSE case, and thru the WRITE FILE function in the TRUE case.

I can't clear single item in Location Bar History. I use Firefox 3.6.13 on Mac 10.6.5.
I do select the item in location bar, press Shift and delete keys, but it delete the item only temporary...
My Firefox Privacy pref indicate:
- Use custom settings for history
- Suggest History when using location bar

Entries in the location bar drop down list with a yellow (blue on Mac) star at the right end are bookmarks.<br />
You can remove such a bookmarked item that shows in the list if you open that url in a tab and click the yellow star in the location bar.<br />
This will open the Edit This Bookmark dialog and you can click the Remove button to remove the bookmark.<br />
This can also be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Why can't I click and open my Skydrive from the favorites bar in finder?

I am able to do this for Google Drive and also Copy, so I should be able to do the same for Skydrive.
So how come I cannot click on Skydrive in the favorites bar in finder? I can click on everything else but when I try to click skydrive it is as if I clicked on the window outside of finder where it would be inactive. I want to be able to open my skydrive from finder (in favorites) so how can I fix this?

If I understand correctly you want the title to appear on top of a later video clip so both title and clip are visible. The problem is the "whites" background which is both making the background opaque and stopping you from pasting it above another clip. If you just select and drag the title by itself, the background will be transparent so the video clip below will show through. You should also be able to copy and paste it directly above the clip you want.
If you want different parts of the title to have a special effect you will have to edit each instance after you have made and positioned the copies.

How can I get rid of "locked items" in Trash?

I am deleting old Time Machine files from my external drive, using my MacBook Pro (2007) to do it. I've been doing this for several weeks, but now when I'm in Trash and click "Empty Securely" I get this message: "There are some locked items in Trash. Do you want to remove all the items, including the locked ones, or just the unlocked items?" Regardless of whether I click on "Remove unlocked items" or "Remove all items", the process stops almost immediately and the Trash remains full. What might be the "locked items" and how can I get rid of them?

You might try restarting and then try to empty the Trash.

Go to "Firefox"--> "Options" --> "Advanced"
Then un-check "Use hardware acceleration when available"
While not verified, I believe this problem is due to an SLI configuration where the focus is on monitor 1. (I.e acceleration is available, but only on monitor 1.)

I can not delete "Fox news" icon from Safari Favorites Bar. Dogpile Search engine also. Both keep coming back with icons upon new opening of Safari.
I have removed these icons from the Book Mark files and Favorites Bar menu and any reference in the LIbrary and replaced them with less spammy evercookie news and search engines 3 times to no avail. I just upgraded Safari (April 2014) and it made no difference. These sites represent the paradigm I

Thank you for trying but no not the problem. Had the same problem with Iphone 4S. Would not connect to my mail server and tried to send me to fraudulent website in the UK/England.
I did a restore to factory restore to the phone with upgrade to newest operating system, my was up to date until OS 7 as I heard there were problems. Now it has OS 7.
Neither I nor verizon could get the phone up and connected for service again. Taking phone to
apple store on Tues.
I am suspecting the "heart bleed" vulnerability.
