Can i make a separate itunes' libaray

I have some compiltaion music that don't have complete ablum art, but i want to play that in itunes without mess up my organized library, can i add music bypass the library? or some other ways that can accomplish this?
i need your help;] thanks

Hi,
You can create a second library if you are using iTunes 7.
Hold the alt (option) key while starting iTunes and at the prompt select 'Create New Library' import your compilations into this library.
Next time you open iTunes hold the alt (option) key again, and you can choose which library to load.
Also, are you aware that if you select "Group Compilations while Browsing" in iTunes preferences (under General) iTunes will keep all your compilations in one folder at the top of the Artists list (as long as they are tagged as compilations)
This way each artist on a compilation is not scattered throughout your library.
Regards
PS. I just noticed that you're using an 'other' OS - the alt (option) key may not work - try the shift key if not

Can I have two separate iTunes accounts on the same computer?  My wife's music is much different than mine.  Can we have different iTunes libraries to work with on the same computer?

Yes. Launch iTunes with the Shift key held down as needed, or use separate Windows user accounts on the computer.

How can I maintain two separate itunes accounts on one single device (iPhone 4) without erasing either set of data when syncing with itunes?

    Hi,
Depends on what you trying to setup but for purchases, you can roll down at the very end of the iTunes/AppStore pages to logout of your current account and then login into a different one.  Then your purchase will be billded to this new account.  Everything will sync as you used to but in order to use the purchased content in iTunes or other devices, you will need to authorize them (you can have up to 5 devices authorized for an account).

  • HT2542 Can we have two separate itunes accounts using the same mac?

I am wanting to download music to my Thunderbolt smart phone (i know, no iphone yet, next upgrade) and I want to use itunes to do it. My partner has an itunes account and I thought I opened my own itunes account, but apparently I didn't. I don't like the same music and only want to download music I like to my phone. Can we just have one account and be able to download checked music from the itunes to multiple devices?

    I'm confused

Do you want one or two?
By the way, and iTunes account is really the thing you use online to purchase music, not what you have on a computer.  You have user accounts on a computer, and you have iTunes libraries or collections of media.  You can have multiple user accounts on a computer.  You can have a single or multiple user accounts use a single or multiple libraries.  We need to know exactly what it is you have/want.

  • Can you have two separate iTunes files on one computer?

I gave my daughters each an old iPOD. One is 20 GB and the other is 60 GB. I take an iBOOK laptop with me when I visit so I can update them. In the past, they shared the 20 GB iPOD only. Now I have a problem as one iPOD can store a lot more than the other. Is there any way to have two separate iTUNES files on one iBOOK computer, one with the songs for the 20 GB iPOD, and the other for the 60 GB iPOD?

The problem with making separate accounts is that this is a laptop, so likely not a huge hard drive, and if the three iTunes libraries need to have a lot of the same music (because everyone or two or three like some of the same stuff) you end up with double or triplicate copies of the music on the hard drive eating up drive space. Since they don't use his laptop normally, creating more accounts (with all the associated files and drive space usage each account would eat up) it probably isn't worth it.
Instead, the best approach is like Chris said, to make playlists for the girls in the main library and then set up the various iPod to either sync everything (if big enough) or sync only specific playlists (if not big enough).
Alternatively, they can set their iPods to manual syncing and then when Dad is visiting they can hook up their iPods and "shop" the library and drag in whatever they want to add to the iPods and delete what they no longer want.

  • Can I make a separate folder for other iPhones to stream to?

I don't want to stream via a shared account. We can sync wif separately in iTunes, why not iPhoto? I want to add my wife's account to iPhoto so she can fianlly start having here iCloud photos go somewhere. I don't want her pics to be streamed to my phone, just to iPhoto so they are saved. WHY can't apple figure this out and make this possible?

Photos will be streamed to all devices that are signed in to the same iCloud account.  Give her a separate user account on your Mac and with her own iCloud account on her phone and in the user account she can get her photos from her camera into her own iPhoto library.  That way she can also have her own email account, address book, calendar (althought calendars can be shared between iCloud accounts), etc.

  • WinXP with two users - can we have two separate iTunes, one for each user?

Question:  On my Dell WinXPPro SP3 desktop with two users (myself and my wife), can each user have a separate iTunes - so what each of us does with iTunes has no effect on the other?
Details:  Yesterday, June 29 2012, I bought a new iPad 3 with WiFi only, my first Apple product.  My #1 motive for buying it is to copy movie files (avi, m4v, mp4, etc.) from my WinXP setup (PC plus hard drive) to my new iPad to watch the movies in bed on the new iPad. I understand that I shall need to install iTunes on both the iPad and the PC in order to move or copy the existing movies from the PC side to the iPad.  (I also understand that I won't be able to use iCloud because iCloud will not run on WinXP, only Vista and Win7.)  [By the way, if iTunes will NOT help me do what I want to do, please let me know.  But that is not my question.]
I am only one of two users on the PC.  My wife is the second user on the PC.  She already installed iTunes on the PC for her own use.  She is an avid iTunes user.   Most of the time, she does not use this PC.  She has her own WinXPPro SP3 Dell laptop, which is what she uses 99% of the time.  She has also had an iPod for some time, hence her use of iTunes.  And now, for the last two weeks, she also has a new iPhone 4S and her own iPad.  So her use of iTunes will grow.  The important point is the following - whatever I do on my side, I do not want to interfere with or disrupt her use of iTunes.  Not even for a second.
So, can I install or re-install or somehow set up iTunes on MY user on the PC so that it does not in any way use or affect her iTunes?  If the answer is "yes", please give me a step-by-step and list all details.  Is there a YouTube that shows this specifically?
More details:  Right now, in C:\Program Files, before I have tried to install anything myself, there are already folders for Apple Software Update, iPod and iTunes, which derive from my wife's installations of these Apple programs some time ago.  I have just now run the Apple Software Updater, which first updated itself on this PC to version 2.1.3.127 and then updated her iTunes on this PC to version 10.6.3.25.  (As a result, the following processes/services are now running, which normally don't run when I am the user:
      C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\AppleMobileDeviceService.exe
      C:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.exe
      C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe
Also, the following processes will launch the next time I reboot this PC (which normally don't launch when I am the user):
      C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\APSDaemon.exe
      C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe )
My wife says her iTunes is NOT set for Family Share.  (That sounds correct to me, for now and forever.)
Summary:  So, how do I install iTunes for myself (for the first time) for my user on this PC so it does not - even for a second - interfere or affect my wife's use of her iTunes on all of her devices?
    Thanks !!!

Mr. Wiclee - thanks for the link.
When I said I had not "installed" iTunes on my iPad, I suppose I meant I have not yet signed in to iTunes, ever.  I suppose when I sign in to iTunes the first time on my new iPad, I will be required to create a new iTunes account?  Then refer to such new iTunes account when I launch iTunes for the first time on my PC as myself?  Or will I still need to use Method Three in your link?
The crucial thing is this - when I turn on iTunes on the PC for the first time with me as User, I do NOT want it to connect to my wife's iTunes account.  On my PC, I would want iTunes to ask me who I am, so I can then sign in with my new iTunes account that I had just created on my iPad.  How can I be sure to accomplish this goal?
In my PC, if I look at Documents and Settings and compare the two folders for we two different users, one for me and one for my wife, I can see that my wife's has Application Data and Local Settings for her various Apple programs.  However, so do I in my User even though I have not yet installed any Apple programs on my side.  I am concerned that when I finall launch iTunes when I am user, it will open up in my wife's iTunes account, which I truly want to avoid.
    Thanks.  Please advise.

  • Can I run two separate ITune Accounts & Libraries and ipods on one computer

I have a friend visiting for a month and they want to use their IPod Nano and ITunes account on my computer. i.e. purchase and download their own songs via Itunes, sync with their Ipod etc. the same way they would on their own home computer, while they are here.
I already have Itunes installed on my computer for my own IPod Shuffle, and related account for buying music etc. and want to continue to sync my Ipod through my own account of course
Is there a way I can have both of these Ipods functioning fully with separate Itune accounts and libraries on my computer? How do I do this?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

OK.... I've ran into a problem and don't know how to proceed with this.
The 2nd user is set up with their ITunes account and we have successfully purchased a few songs.
What I expected to do was sync their Ipod and have the songs already on their IPod copy into the "new" Library we just set up. However, indications are that if I use "sync", it will erase the songs presently on the IPod and then only put back the few new songs we just purchased. (I tried a few other things but cannot get the songs from the IPOD into the ITunes Library or any other folder to preserve them)
    1. If it is even possible, how do I get the songs off the IPod into the newly established Library?
    2. If I indeed cannot sync the IPOD / Library - how do I get the newly purchased songs from the Library to the IPOD without erasing the songs already on the Ipod.
    Thanks, hope you can help!

  • How can I make a separate external backup?

Hello.  Hope I can explain this properly, that is often the hardest part of asking for help!
I have a 500 GB Lacie external HD (my Primary) (formatted Mac OS Extended Journaled) continually backing up via Time Machine.
What I want to do, is make a separate backup on an external 1 TB  iOmega HD (my Secondary) and keep it in an area
    of safekeeping.
So, my questions then would be the following:
1--Do I just disconnect my present Lacie HD and is there a certain way of doing this?
2--Do I then connect the iOmega secondary HD up to my iMac and is there certain things that need to be done to do this?
3--Can I then connect my Primary Lacie HD back up to the iMac?
I would like to do this periodically, possibly every month to ensure most of my data is in the Secondary iOmega HD.
Any pointers or info would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Sure, although I'm not sure why you would want two Time Machine backups?
It's just my take on the subject, but cloning is far better than Time Machine for two main reasons. 1. a Clone is bootable in a pinch and 2. a Clone doesn't require that the external hard drive be running all the time.
You could however disconnect the Lacie and start using the 1T iOmega for Time Machine, then erase and Clone the Lacie with CarbonCloner if your having trouble figuring out SuperDuper.

  • Can I have two separate iTunes account on the same pad?

My husband and I have two separate iTunes account. He has a iPad (his iTunes/icloud login) that I would like to be able to download movies on from our family account (my iTunes) but keep his iCloud messaging, etc intact on his iPad. Is this possible?

No, you can only be signed into a single iTunes account at a time.  And once you download a previous purchase from and iTunes ID you can't switch to another ID to download previous purchases for 90 days.  However, you don't have to use the same ID for iMessage that you do for iTunes.  You can create a new ID to use for iMessage, FaceTime, etc., then go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive (and Settings>FaceTime), tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with the new ID.  Using different IDs for will keep you from getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls.
