Can I make an internet browser automatically download Adobe Reader if not already installed

Hi,
Basically I have an embedded PDF file in my HTML page, if Adobe Reader is not installed I want the browser to prompt the user to download Adobe Reader to view the PDF. Is this possible?
Cheers in advance
Matt

Many have tried, with the result that their web pages frequently get
it wrong and deny access to PDFs.
Not to mention people who don't use Adobe Reader to read PDFs, or who
download for later use.
Best to just clearly explain you have a PDF, and link to Adobe to
download Reader if required.

if you're using windows, click the start button>control panel>uninstall programs> and check for adobe acrobat and adobe reader.  don't uninstall anything if you find it.
but if you find no acrobat/reader run the cleaner (Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs) and then try and install adobe reader.

need help in finding the 'accept button for downloading adobe reader. I'm using a Mac.

You're all wrong. Here's the story:
I have reluctantly been using the Chrome browser for some time, and suddenly they have withdrawn support for viewing PDFs in Reader, not in the browser. Didn't announce it, just did it. Goodbye Chrome. Grrrrr.

  • How do i read pdf files on mac air, i have downloaded adobe reader and not working

How do I read any files in pdf format? I have downloaded adobe reader yet have not been able to open pdf files?

If you can't view PDF files in Safari, take these steps.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • Im having trouble downloading Adobe Reader,  its not accepting the password (which I reset few hours ago)   ??

Question >   Im having trouble downloading Adobe Reader.  It gets to box that requires name and password, but does not accept info.  I have already reset password few hours ago in Account Settings.  Any suggestions???

You don't need a password to download Adobe Reader (or any other free Adobe apps).  However, your computer may request you to enter its Administrator password to install the software.

  • How can I download Adobe Reader for a friend who has dialup and can't spend 500 hours doing it?

We used to be able to download Adobe Reader. Not any more. Now we can only download a file that does the real downloading. If I want to download a PDF reader that a friend on dialup can install, I need to download something besides Adobe.

Download the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

  • Adobe Reader will not read pdf files on internet

I have lastest version of Adobe reader on a new mac running OS 10 Maverick. This has latest safari (7.0.1) as my internet browser. My adobe reader reads pdf files already present on my desktop, but will not read pdf files from the internet even after I allow "trust" this site. Can anyone help me to resolve the issue please. Is it a bug that Adobe has not solved??

Sorry if you did not understand my instructions.
Regarding bullet point 4: Check Reader >Preferences > Internet > Web Browser Options> The blessed app should be " /Applications/Adobe Reader.app"
You specified that you don't see the path, then it might be some problem in your installation.
Please see the attached image and let me know what you see on your system.
Regarding bullet point 5: Load PDF in Safari.
This means open any PDFs in Safari web browser.
Please make sure the below highlighted plug-ins are installed on your system by going to the specified path. And make sure the version of the below two plug-ins are 11.0.06. You can find the version by selecting the plugin and hit Command+i.
Go to your Main Hard Disk/Library/ Internet Plug-Ins/ AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin
Go to your Main Hard Disk/Library/ Internet Plug-Ins/ AdobePDFViewer.plugin

  • Why can't I open pdf files allthough having adobe reader 9 preinstalled on my new windows 7 laptop?

    Hi!
I think my question might be simple to answer, so please if you read this give it a try...
I just bought a new laptop with windows 7 on it. Adobe Reader 9 was allready installed. I wanted to open simple pdf files, but I got the message "Adobe Reader ?" in an empty field that pops up.
Why can't I open pdf files? Do I also need to install the Adobe Flash Player as well?
I would be very glad if you could give me a hint.
    Thanx

It appears as if Adobe Reader is not correctly installed.  Try installing the latest version 9.2 from http://get.adobe.com/reader/ - make sure that you uncheck any unwanted software bundled with the download.
P.S.  no, you don't need Flash Player to open PDF files.

  • Do you have to down load from the internet using apple's recover partition, every time you need to do a clean install? or can you make a copy of Mt Lion onto a USB stick and install off that?

Do you have to down load Mountain Lion from the internet every time you need to do a clean install? or can you make a copy of Mt Lion onto a USB stick and install off that?
    Thanks

Yes you can make a USB stick of Lion or Mt Lion. Use Lion Disk Maker after you download OS X from the internet.
For Lion you have to point the download to an external drive and watch when it completes and reboots the system to start the install disconnect the external. If you bought Mt Lion from the Mac App Store then you can download it from there and just cancel the install when it comes up on the desktop.
If you are downloading from the Recovery HD or from the Online Internet Recovery system, slightly different then the built in Recovery HD, then again you need to point it to an external drive and discoonect that drive when the system reboots to start the real install.
Then use Lion disk maker to create either a DVD disc or USB thumb of the install files.
