Can I make the windows partition be usable in a mac os environment with a program?

...in other words, my imac has 2 partitions, an mac os lion one and a win7 one.  i have to hit option at boot up to decide to use either one.  Is there a program for mac os that will allow me to run native mac os and at the same time open up my windows partition?

I know form experience that Parallels Desktop and VMWare Fusion will allow you to create a virtual machine that will boot using your Boot Camp partition.  That means that when running MacOS you can launch the virtualization program and it will open a window that will look like a PC booting up Windows 7 (assuming that's what you have installed on your Boot Camp partition).
I don't know if Virtual Box will allow you to boot from the Boot Camp partition or not, when I stopped using it, it did not support that option.

Click on the Hot Corners..  button and look at the four definitions.  In the picture below, if you moved the cursor to the right top of the screen, it would slide all the applications off the screen as you describe and show the desktop.  Set it to "-" to deactivate.

  • After I had upgraded to Mavericks I can't make a Windows partition with Windows XP.

I'm trying to make a Windows partition. I have before but I recently had to have my computer re-formatted and all of it wiped. I have the Windows XP disk and everything and I've had it before, it was only after I upgraded to Mavericks it didn't work. It says I have to use a Windows 8 DVD or usb port which I don't have either of.

You need to do that from Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier, or use a product such as VirtualBox, Parallels Desktop, or VMware Fusion instead.

    Hi,
when I create a popup, the window in the background becomes unvisible as long as the popup is not closed. how can I make the background window become visible when the popup is open?  I can hardly believe, that such a basic feature is not supported. But on the other hand, I also have some problemes with the sizing of the pop up...
    Help is highly appreciated.
    Kind Regards

  • How large should I make the Windows partition in Bootcamp?

I've just taken delivery of a shiny new 17" Macbook Pro and I am planning to install Windows 7 on it and run SolidWorks 2010 as well as all the Mac side stuff (Adobe CS4, vectorWorks etc). The question I have is what do the experts here think I should set as the Windows partition size? I have a 500GB drive to work with.
Also, is it best practise to separate Windows files (eg the SolidWorks files) and the Mac files? Should I aim to have all the Windows native app files on the Windows partition or is it OK to mix and match (ie keep everything on the Mac side and access them from Windows)?

right. I've installed both the 64bit and 32bit versions of Windows 7 and Office 2010 CPP (plus all OS/driver updates from Windows Update as well as other necessary apps (like anti-virus, DropBox, 2GB of personal data)) on a 60GB BC partition and wound up with about 43GB free. I'm not sure what everyone else is installing but you do NOT need a huge partition/drive for Windows 7. 60GB will do you just fine (and believe it or not, Windows is my default OS. I use Snow Leopard for iTunes, Photos (all multimedia), web cam/skype, and have the lion share of my 500GB drive allocated to OSX.
Things are working very well with this configuration.

  • How can I make the Windows Media player the default player for my browser.

I cannot listen to radio station WYSL 1040 AM on the web. They say that the default player on my browser must be the Windows Media player. How do I comply with their demand?

In Firefox it is the MIME type that determines which player is selected.
Install the new WMP plugin (np-mswmp.dll), you only have the classic WMP plugin (Npdsplay dll)

  • Make the window control buttons bigger

How can one make the window control buttons bigger in Mountain Lion? The x - o buttons. Making them smaller from Snow Leopard seems like a stupid and arbitrary ******** change. Like many changes in L/ML. It's especially bad for people with accessability issues. If there is a hack or something, please.  Thank you.

Can't. However, post your feedback here:

The first place to start may be to check Activity Monitor. Look at the Disk Usage tab and the CPU tab and see if any one or two things seem to be dominating that activity. Especially see if it's some 3rd party app or background process.

  • HT5446 If I buy a mac mini with a fusion drive and add windows using boot camp, can I make the SSD function be dedicated to the windows partition?

If I buy a mac mini with a fusion drive and add windows using boot camp, can I make the SSD function be dedicated to the windows partition?

Additional information from Linc's post. Basically, only one additional partition can be added to a Fusion Drive and it resides on the HDD.
Do computers that come with a Fusion Drive support Boot Camp?
Yes. Use the Boot Camp Assistant to create a Windows partition and install Boot Camp. The Windows partition will exist on the hard disk drive, not the Flash drive, and is not part of Fusion Drive Logical Volume Group. 3TB Fusion Drive configurations need to update to OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.3 or later to install Windows 8. See iMac (27-inch, Late 2012): Boot Camp alert with 3T hard drive for more information.

  • How can I remove the BootCamp partition? as the size i created ws too small to install MS Office on 64Bit Windows 8.1 on MacBook Pro (Aug'13)

How can I remove the BootCamp partition drive for Windows 8.1, as the size which I created was too small for me to install Microsoft Office onto Windows 8.1 64-BIt. The machine which I have is the MacBook Pro 13' inch purchased in August 2013.

Either use Paragon's CampTuneX to resize it or use Boot Camp Assistant to remove the partition and restore the drive to one partition. Then create a new, larger Boot Camp partition. This will remove/delete/erase your Windows system.

Why my sister's Compaq Laptop make noise and can't open the windows.. huhuhu.. the sound come from HardDisk in that laptop.. its sound like the HDD reader scratched the Disc insde.. how can it be?? my sister scold me already couze she wanna use for her work..

    Hi Hawaiian_Starman,
    Thank you for the suggestion.
I ran the first aid in the Keychain both for verification and for repair and both immediately returned with "no problems found".
As for the certificate, according the web administrator nothing had changed for the certificates.
even on the windows laptop I also get the certificate as being expired, but by simply accepting that I still have access.
I had a pop up every time that alerted me to the certificate issue, but whether I "continued" or not that still did not matter.
Yesterday, in an effort to find a solution, I went into the "details" and entered to trust this website.
Now that certificate issue does not pop up anymore. But I do not know how to reverse that either.
I have the feeling indeed it has something to do with a certificate, but how is the question.

  • How can I make the Strip Silence window wider?

    Hi.
How can I make the Strip Silence window wider? Right now it just fits my MacBook screen, so
I can´t actually see what I am doing. I saw a tutorial where the Strip Silence window went outside
the screen on both sides so you could go into detail on the file.
    All the best, Henning...

Also, I believe the size of the strip silence window has something to do with the length of the region you are editing.
