Can I migrate users from a hosted Exchange 2010 to Office 365 Enterprise E1 without the need of third party software?

I am hoping I am posting to the correct forum.  We are currently using a hosted Exchange 2010 service through Intermedia and due to continuing issues with them and the pricing, we are getting ready to migrate to Microsoft’s Office 365 Enterprise
E1 platform.  My question is this, besides the fact that we will need to set up ADFS for SSO, will I be able to migrate our existing mailboxes from Intermedia to Office 365 without having to purchase additional software?
The current configuration we have with Intermedia allows for us to use OWA and our OST files for our current users are cached locally on the workstations.
We also do not have any public folders in use.  I have searched the web, but I have not been able to find a definitive answer or steps that I should take to prepare for this type of migration.
Any suggestions on this matter would be appreciated.  Thank you.

It looks as I should be able to from reading that article.  Not sure why the company that want to set this all up for me wanted $12,000 for something I can do with 6 steps.
Thank you

  • How to use Powershell to set delegate for user mailbox in Exchange 2010 and Office 365

    Hello,
    Can you please tell me if I can set delegate for user mailbox in Exchange 2010 or Office 365 using Powershell?
    If I can, then how can I do that? (which Powershell commands for setting the delegate?)
    Many thanks, and have a good day!

    Hi,
    If you wanted to add a delegate to possiblly a large number of users or you do this during mailbox provisioning. So the following script will use
    impersonation to access another users mailbox and add a delegate.
    $mbtoDelegate = "[email protected]"
    $delegatetoAdd = "[email protected]"
    $dllpath = "C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange\Web Services\1.0\Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.dll"
    [void][Reflection.Assembly]::LoadFile($dllpath)
    $service = new-object Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.ExchangeService([Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.ExchangeVersion]::Exchange2007_SP1)
    $windowsIdentity = [System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity]::GetCurrent()
    $sidbind = "LDAP://<SID=" + $windowsIdentity.user.Value.ToString() + ">"
    $aceuser = [ADSI]$sidbind
    $service.AutodiscoverUrl($aceuser.mail.ToString())
    $service.ImpersonatedUserId = new-object Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.ImpersonatedUserId([Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.ConnectingIdType]::SmtpAddress,
    $mbtoDelegate);
    $mbMailbox = new-object Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.Mailbox($mbtoDelegate)
    $dgUser = new-object Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.DelegateUser($delegatetoAdd)
    $dgUser.ViewPrivateItems = $false
    $dgUser.ReceiveCopiesOfMeetingMessages = $false
    $dgUser.Permissions.CalendarFolderPermissionLevel = [Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.DelegateFolderPermissionLevel]::Editor
    $dgUser.Permissions.InboxFolderPermissionLevel = [Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.DelegateFolderPermissionLevel]::Reviewer
    $dgArray = new-object Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.DelegateUser[] 1
    $dgArray[0] = $dgUser
    $service.AddDelegates($mbMailbox, [Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.MeetingRequestsDeliveryScope]::DelegatesAndMe, $dgArray);
    Hope this helps.

  • Exchange 2010 to Office 365 federation trust

    I'm trying to setup a federated trust between two companies on different domains (Exchange 2010 SP2 on premise/Office 365).  We are trying to share calendar information and contacts.  I've gone through the steps to setup a federated trust and created
    the TXT file for the (Exchange 2010) on premise domain.  When I try creating the trust from the Exchange 2010 on premise domain to Office 365 I receive an error.
    COMMAND:
    Set-FederatedOrganizationIdentifier –AccountNamespace <some_domain> –DelegationFederationTrust “Microsoft Federation Gateway”
    ERROR:
    Proof of domain ownership has failed. Make sure that the TXT record for the specified domain is available in DNS. The format of the TXT record should be "example.com IN TXT hash-value" where "example.com" is the domain you want to configure
    for Federation and "hash-value" is the proof value generated with "Get-FederatedDomainProof -DomainName example.com".
    Do I need to create a TXT file for the Office 365 side?
    Thanks
    Stephen

    You need to add this TXT record for your domain and publish it EXTERNALLY, so that the MFG can verify it. For example, check the TXT records for Microsoft.com:
    PS C:\> Resolve-DnsName -Type TXT microsoft.com
    Name Type TTL Section Strings
    microsoft.com TXT 2346 Answer {FbUF6DbkE+Aw1/wi9xgDi8KVrIIZus5v8L6tbIQZ

  • I'm changing my email server from a POP server to an Office 365 server. Do I need to save or export my downloaded emails before I do this?

    I'm moving my account from a POP server to an Office 365 server. Before I change my server settings, do I need to export or save emails that I've already downloaded?
    Thanks!

    Incidentally, my first thought was to map a network share from the NAS to my computer, so that my music files appear on the Z: drive, say on my computer. I could then set up iTunes to store music etc in that folder, and to copy all new items to that folder. However, if I do that, all that'll happen is that on my NAS, the library file will become out of date as I add music to the collection but not to the index.

  • Error migrating user from on-premises Exchange to Exchange online

    We have a hybrid configuration with our on-premises Exchange 2010 server and our Office 365 Exchange Online server (if this should be posted in the Exchange 2010 forum instead, let me know, but I figured we have one of each).  We have been doing remote
    moves, and all but two of them are finished. The two remaining are refusing to go, and I've done extensive searching but haven't been able to resolve the issues.
    The first mailbox returns this error message:
    Error: MissingExchangeGuidException: The user object for ‎nnn
    does not have a valid ExchangeGuid property and cannot be migrated.
    The second mailbox returns this error message:
    Error: MigrationTransientException: Couldn‎'t find a move request that corresponds to the specified identity
    <‎identity>.
    We've tried moving both mailboxes several times (deleting the migration batch after each error) with no luck.   The migration for both of these users are being done as separate batches with one user in each batch.  They are being created via the
    Exchange Admin Center from the Office 365 admin portal.  Any suggestions on what to do next?

    Hi Dave,
    I have gone thorough your query, its ok. Pplease follow this informative article that provides the steps Mailbox Migration to Exchange Online : https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj863291%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx
    In addition if you want to move mailboxes automatically you may also have a look on
    Lepide Exchange Recovery Manager that could be a good alternative solution for you.
    It is complete disaster recovery, backup restoration, and Exchange to Exchange or Exchange to Office 365 migration tool and one stop solution.

  • Migrating from Shared/Hosted Exchange 2010 to Onsite Exchange 2013

    Hi All,
    Hoping for some advice regarding a migration project I'm due to run with. A client has their current email data with a 3rd party hosted Exchange platform, this is a completely separate platform from their onsite AD infrastructure.
    Platform wise it is built on Exchange 2010 that only really allows OWA/Outlook Anywhere/ActiveSync access. We'd like to migrate this platform to a more dedicated onsite Exchange 2013 platform.
    Any software tools or advice appreciated, we're hoping to avoid exporting all the content to PST and manually importing but if this is the only way then fair enough. If there are utilities that may allow mailbox backfilling to suck the data out and in to
    the new mailboxes in 2013 that would be awesome.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to migrate mailboxes from the other forest to your forest.
    I recommend you refer to the following article to achieve migration:

  • Exchange 2010 and Office 365

    Haven't been able to find a definitive answer from our friends at Microsoft or Google, so here goes!I have a client (lets call the Client A) with onsite SBS Server (Exchange 2010 SP3) of 50 seats. The client has multiple meeting rooms, defined as resource mailboxes and makes extensive use of free/busy info for booking staff and resources for meetings.That part is all good!Recently, a related organization (who we'll call Client B) moved into the same office with them. The second organization (who has IT support provided by another company) uses Office 365 for their email services and has a completely different domain name etc.Because they are related, Client A has requested that they and Client B integrate their calendars so that staff from clients A & B can see each others free/busy info, invite each other to meetings and staff from...

  • Hi,i hav a new laptop nd my songs on iphone is not stored in this computer,how can i store this songs from my iphone to my computer using itunes?? i hav tried other third party softwares but to use them i need to pay....pls help if possible.

    I am using itunes 10.4.1.10 version nd my iphone 4 is on 4.3.5....if anyone can help me would be very greatfull.
    Thank you.

    If you are not interested in purchasing any software, then your only other choice would be to take your iTunes backup that you made of your iTunes library and copy that over to the new computer. If you do not have that, then it could be difficult. However, if all of the content was purchased through iTunes, then after authorizing the computer with the Apple ID the songs were purchased on, you can transfer the purchases to the new computer.

  • How to migrate users from HUB to Shared Services

    Hi,
    We are upgrading Essbase from 7.1.6 to 9.3.1. In 7.1.6 we were using Hyperion HUB for provisioning and we are going to use Shared Services with External authentication for the provsioning from now on.
    My question is what is the best way of migrating users from Hyperion HUB to Shared Services.
    Thanks,
    MP

    After you copy the SQL Repository across to the new environment and log in with the owner account, you will be required to register the application with Shared Services. After registering with SS it should prompt you to "Migrate Users and Groups" which will do the migration for you.

  • Can't move Users from On Premise Lync 2013 to Lync Online (Office 365)

    Hi all
    I try to move a single User from a local Lync Installation to Office 365 Lync. Everything is working locally, but in the Lync Powershell i face the following error:
    The User with the following SIP-URI can't be found in the Active Directory. HostedMigration fault: Error = 201.
    I didn't found anything on the web for the Error 201.
    The User exists, and is synchronised with Azure AD eg Office 365. He has an E4 Plan.
    Help would be very appreciated!

    Hi,
    Please check if the federation SRV record point to the local Edge Server.
    Please make sure the Sign-on and directory synchronization works normally.

  • Migrate Exchange 2003 to Office 365

    Dear all,
    We are going to migrate Exchange 2003 to Office 365. Because of the large number of mailboxes and mail databases, we decide to build hybrid to support coexistence during the migration period.
    According to "Exchange Server Deployment Assistant" I found that we can build more Exchange 2010 for that requirement
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/exdeploy2013/Checklist?state=2419-W-BwAIAAAAQAAAAAEAiFIAAAA~
    I just wonder that after deploying the Exchange 2010, can we move directly the mailboxes from Exchange 2003 to Office 365 or we need to move to Exchange 2010 first (as a "buffer") before moving to Office 365
    Thanks a lot !!!

    Hello,
    The main goal of a staged migration is to migrate Exchange on-premises servers when:
    1. You have more than 2000 mailboxes.
    2. You plan to migrate over a few weeks and months rather than in a single batch.
    3. You want to migrate to the Cloud completely and remove your on-premises Exchange deployment.
    Hybrid scenarios are useful when you do not want to remove your on-premises deployment. In some cases there is no technical possibility, it is not cost-effective etc. to move a whole organization to Office 365. In these situations you may decide that moving
    only some mailboxes to Office 365 is a good option and create a hybrid deployment.
    You need to consider all pros and cons, especially when Exchange 2003 has gone out of support lifecycle and then choose the better option for your organization.
    Hope it helps,

  • Is there any third party software that will allow me to print CD labels from iTunes?

    I want to be able to print a CD label from a song list I burnt to CD in iTunes. Is there a third party software that will let me do this since iTunes won't?

    Hi,
    If you wish to merely transfer files, one idea could be to have one ftp or web server on each machine, and then use appropriate clients (ftp programs or web browsers).
    TCP/IP software is available under System 7.5.5. The 8100/100 can use standard RJ-45 Ethernet cabling via a suitable adapter for AAUI-15 (such as the Apple Ethernet Twisted-Pair Transceiver M0437).
    For the Mac, the now free program NetPresenz could perhaps be of interest as a server solution.

  • Migrating user from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 succeeds but OWA redirects to 2010

    Hello everyone,
    I am migrating users from exchange 2010 to 2013, Users migration works perfectly and completes without any issue but after the user migration finishes I try to login to OWA but user goes to OWA exchange 2010 not 2013 as if the mailbox has not been migrated.
    I have checked the HomeMDB attribute and I can see the new database on 2013 is located there. how to solve this? I have retransfered the user back to 2010 and 2013 but it didn't work.
    I would appreciate your help.
    Thanks
    Mohammed JH

    Hi Amit
    After 30 mins approximately we checked the inboxes that have been migrted (2) and we found out they are working.
    İ wonder why there is this delay ? İ have already done migration before but it never took this much time. İ would appreciate your reply.
    Thanks

  • Migrate a Single User from GW7 to Exchange 2003

    Does anyone have experience migrating a single user from GroupWise 7 to Exchange 2003? We have a business unit that we acquired several years ago and no decision has been made to this point about merging the two e-mail systems (we are GroupWise 7 and they are Exchange 2003). I have just been asked about moving one of our employees to their business unit and want to know my options.
    My gut says that we should keep him on GroupWise because that is what he knows and loves, then we can use this as a first crack in getting GroupWise over there.
    I have found a few Microsoft articles that reference setting up the API gateway and migrating data through there, but everything mentioned is either GroupWise 5.5 or 6.x. Also, based on our past experiences with the API gateway we would like to avoid that if possible.
    We have an implementation of the Novell GroupWise Gateway for Microsoft Exchange, but that presumably does not help us in this situation.
    Are there any utilities out there? Anything that could take a GroupWise Native Archive and convert it to the Outlook equivalent? Even if it was like an archive that he had to manually open from time to time, I'm betting that would be good enough.

    Yes, I have lots of experience. The Microsoft articles that you refer to basically involve setting up co-Existence between GW and Exchange. They all refer to GW 6.5, but it works with GW7. It is just not "officially" supported by Microsoft. The other thing to be aware is that the Microsoft Connector for GroupWise comes with Exchange 2003 and links in with the Novell API Gateway 4.1. The Newer Novell Gateway for Exchange sort of replaces this Microsoft tool, but you are not going to find it much better as a gateway. Too many issues and not nearly enough documentation on the web.
    Also, you can use the migration wizard from the Exchange 2003 installation to migrate a user from GW to Exchange (with or without co-existence set up) . It works fine to migrate all of the users mail, appointments, etc. Does not destroy the GW mailbox, so you can do a dry run to see how it works. Does not migrate their personal address books though.
    The Wizard can create the user for you in Exchagne 2003, but it can only create an Exchange 2003 Legacy account. If you are running Exch2007, set up the user first, then migrate.
    Hope that helps.
