Can I mirror my Aperture?

Can I mirror my Aperture or iPhoto with Airplay?

If your machine supports it, then you can enable mirroring in general (using the Airplay icon in the menu bar), and the screen is mirrored.  This will apply for all apps.
Your Mac has to be new enough to support AirPlay.  Details on supported models are at the bottom of the AirPlay page:
http://www.apple.com/airplay/
More flexible functionality around multiple displays (and use of Apple TV as a second display) is scheduled for OS X Mavericks which is coming this fall:

On imac 10.6.8 using current version of Aperture.  How can I access the Aperture Library  on my external hard drive that I use with time machine for backup?  I can only access the application but not the library..

Go into Time Machine (the program not the bundle on the extrnal disk) and using Time Machine's browser go to the Folder where the library lives. You could look in the library bundle in Time Machine but that won't really tell you much,
If you want to make sure it truely has backed up your library you will need to restore it and open the restored library with Aperture.
If all this still has you confused you need to read up on Time Machine in order to get a feel for how it works, for what it is doing and for how to restore files from it.

  • How can I migrate an Aperture library from an external HDD with Mac OS Extended (Journaled, Encrypted) format?

How can I migrate an Aperture library from an external HDD with Mac OS Extended (Journaled, Encrypted) format?
I used to store my pictures on an external hard drive using the latest version of Aperture. Now I tried migrating my Aperture library to Photos. However, after a short moment an error message popped up telling me that "Photos was unable to make a copy of your library before preparing it. Photos does not have the necessary permissions...".
My external HDD doesn't need any permission repairs nor is the system prohibited to read from or write to it.
Thanks for any advice in advance!

My guess is that the encryption is the problem for the new app.

  • HT201343 Can I mirror my Mac although it's an old version?

We can only mirror our Mac with through AirPlay onto Apple TV if the Macbook Pro is a 2011 version or earlier. My macBook Pro is a mid-2009.
Has anyone found a way to get around this limitation? I don't want to have to buy a new Mac! Thank you.

Thank you for the quick response. One more question: I'm trying it out but when I try playing a movie, the audio works but the movie image comes out in squares. Is that because I'm trying it for free and will only see the image if I purchase the app? I want to make sure it works properly before I buy the app.
    Thanks for your help.

  • HT201335 can I mirror my mac to the apple tv?

I was told by the apple people that I could mirror my mac to my tv via the apple tv that I just bought.  Is this true and if so, can you tell me how to?  Thanks.

Only if you have one of the following Macs:
    iMac (Mid 2011 or newer)
Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer)
MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer)
AND you need to purchase and install Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store.
Wow...that's upsetting ;-(  My late 2009 iMac is great.  Starting to wonder why I updated to Mountain Lion...

  • I am changing to a larger hard drive on my Mac. Can I copy the Aperture library from my backup disk running Time Machine without loosing anything?

I am installing a larger harddrive on my Mac. Can I copy the Aperture library from my backup disk running Time Machine without loosing anything? I am getting help migrating everything else on to the new harddrive, but since copying the 350Gb Aperture library takes a lot of time, I am planning to do that part myself.

I found the following information on Time Machine help about restoring Aperture library from TM
    Restoring Your Aperture System
If you buy a new computer or use another system at a different location and want access to the Aperture library, you can install Aperture and then transfer the library from your vault (on your backup disk) to the other computer. If you experience equipment failure or other unexpected events, such as fire or weather-related damage to your equipment, you can easily restore the entire library to your new computer from a backup disk.

  • Can not mirror onto an external display in Boot Camp

I have a MacBook Black and I am running Windows XP Professional via Boot Camp. I've been having problem trying to set up mirroring in XP. On my previous MacBook Black which I purchased last May, I had no problems mirroring in XP. But for some strange reason, I can't mirror at all. After installing Boot Camp drivers in Windows, I didn't even see the Intel icon in the system tray. I went to Intel's website and I downloaded the latest driver which supposedly addressed this problem. However, I'm still unable to mirror my display. I can extend it to the external display but that's not what I want. I know others have experienced the same thing. Has anyone figured out how to solve this problem?

If it were only that simple. The mirror option is not there at all due to the fact that the Intel icon that's supposed to show in the system tray is not there at all either.
One thing I did the other day was check on the boxes of both of my MacBooks to see what chipset was installed in both of them. My MacBook that I bought last year has the Intel GMA 950 chipset installed. My current MacBook that I have has the Intel X3100 chipset installed. I have no problem mirroring on the old MacBook with the GMA 950 chipset. I have been to Intel's website and they stated that this was a known issue with the X3100 chipset. Their latest driver was supposed to address the feature. After updating my driver to the latest one, the problem is still not solved.

  • Can anyone interpret this Aperture crash log and suggest an idea?

Hi, for a very long time now, I can only open Aperture while pressing the SHIFT key. There are 49 previews that otherwise attempt to be built, which I assume are the cause of the crash. If I press SHIFT while booting and disable preview generation, then the crash does not happen, BUT I cannot have my automatic preview generation. This is critical since I travel a lot and this allows me to show my work and process keywords and captions while traveling. ANY idea is VERY welcome and appreciated it! Thanks. Martin.

That looks like a kernel panic log (where the screen switches to messages in various languages, on a grey background).
If it is, it's very likely that you've got some faulty memory in your machine, or some other hardware fault, that Aperture is triggering when it runs (Aperture is a very heavy user of system resources and other posters to this forum have found that it finds hardware problems they didn't think they had.)
It does not seem to be a kernel panic. It only shuts down Aperture but without any other noticeable effect. Thanks.

It will show pictures and videos if I choose, Start Slideshow, but it won't show anything else, no apps, etc.
Here's a few examples of the reviews which state it mirrors:

I bought this for video analysis presentations with an app on the phone, so this is a key feature for me.
    Any help is appreciated.

I also have not figured out how to mirrow either.  I ask you both, is the sound via the projector louder than the phone itself when projector is tuerned off?  No matter what I do the max vilume through the projector speakers is lower that the phone itself even with phone remaining installed in projector.  I am think of taking it back to try another one.

When displaying the content you wish to mirror on the iPad 2, iPad 3 or iPhone 4s, double tap the home button (quickly) and swipe the bottom row of apps to the right to reveal the playback controls, tap the AirPlay icon and select your Apple TV from the list of available devices.

  • Can I mirror my computer monitor on the Apple TV ?

How can I mirror my computer monitor on the Apple TV ?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, OS X 10.8 or better and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). It also requires the computer to be using wi-fi.

  • HT1338 my new mac book air can't mirror but my ipad can

my new mac book air can't mirror with apple tv but my ipad can.  How do I fix this?

It sounds like you destroyed your boot partition and the recovery partition.  Depending on it's age, your MacBook Air might be able to do a net boot.  Plug and ethernet connection into it and attempt to boot.  If it has the right firmware, it will find a net boot configuration on the net and boot that.  Then it will give you a Recovery Partition like display and allow you to reinstall the OS X version that came with it.... assuming that it was Lion or ML.  If your computer came with Snow Leopard, then even the net boot won't work.
At that point you need a bootable USB Key, or an external DVD drive AND a Snow Leopard installation DVD.
An Apple Store, if there is one nearby, MAY be able to get you going again.  However, whatever is on the SSD now will be toast too.
