Can I mirror my macbook pro screen to an Apple TV?

Hello, I am using a 2010 macbook pro running OS X 10.8 and want to mirror the screen to my apple tv 720p running Apple TV Software version 5.0.2 (4250). Is it possible? How?
I know it is airplay, but how exactly does it works? I want to mirror youtube videos, safari pages, etc.
Thanks!

Only recent Macs support Airplay Mirroring and I don't think yours will do it.  Go to this page:
http://www.apple.com/uk/osx/whats-new/features.html#airplay
and read note 1 at the bottom of the page.

  • Can't mirror my macbook pro desktop

    hi there
Trying to mirror my desktop from the Macbook Pro on to the TV. All is setup fine, and can mirror my itunes library but can't mirror the desktop in general. I thought the idea was you could see anything on the screen
    Appreciate any help

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

Only Apple knows that, but you can use a third-party app to mirror your computer display onto your Apple TV, like AirParrot > http://www.airparrot.com

  • Can I take my MacBook Pro back to the Apple store to have them transfer information from my HP?

I just bought my MacBook Pro yesterday and I was in kind of a rush so I just picked it up and then went home. So since I just bought it yesterday, can I bring my MacBook and my HP laptop to the store so they can transfer some of the information I want from my HP onto my MacBook, like my iTunes music? Also, if I can do that, do I just make an appointment with the genius bar or what? Thanks for your answers.

Why don't you do it your self?  Here are the instructions:

  • How can I mirror my macbook screen to the Apple TV through wifi?r

I have not been able to mirror my macbook's screen to the Apple TV through the wifi. I want to do that in the classroom for more mobility of the notebook for student use. This is because I'm trying to use iPads and Macbooks in the classroom for presentations by students and the teacher directly to the TV. Is the Apple TV the best bet?

If you are desparate, I was able to get a remote-desktop client to show my Mac's screen on my iPad, and then display that to my TV via AppleTV 2 over wifi. While it worked, it was rather slow on screen updating--you'd never be able to watch a movie for instance.

where can i register my macbook pro ?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
To register your MacBook Pro to your Apple ID, open http://supportprofile.apple.com, log in with your Apple ID, choose Add Products, and follow the steps. You will have to insert your MacBook Pro's serial number, that you can find in the box or in System Information.
If you set up your Apple ID during the first startup of your MacBook Pro, the MacBook is already registered to your Apple ID with iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand

  • Please help: I want to mirror my MacBook pro with my HDTV.  I realize I need to switch on my Mirroring Icon BUT I cannot find the icon on my menu bar or in the Display section of my System preferences.  Is it possible to get the Icon on my screen somehow?

I want to mirror my MacBook Pro's screen to my HDTV.  I had it at one time by clicking the Mirror Icon on my upper menu bar but I do not have it any more?
What am I missing?  In the System Perferences the display menu seems incomplete.  There is no where in there to set my MacBook Pro to mirroring.
    Can someone please help me?
I would apprecate any help I get.
    Thanks

The mirroring selection is in the "Arrangement" tab and only shows up on the MacBook Pro LCD, not the external display.

What is the maximun Hard Drive I can install for a MacBook Pro 2009
Yesterday, I tried a SEAGATE SSHD but my screen was always a showing a QUESTION MARK (?). It's not the cable because when I put back the old original version, everything works...Any sugestion of brabnding or procédure to upgrade my hard drive?

The largest 2.5" dia SATA drives available are 2 TB in capacity.
Have you tried the Seagate SSHD connected externally to the MBP via USB?  The drive itself may be faulty.
    Ciao.

Are you using mirroring or using airplay within iTunes? If you are truly mirroring then you can view anything that is displayed on your computer through Apple Tv
Or provide more info on your issue

You misunderstand the memory management scheme and misinterpret the display you're seeing.
To start with, free memory is wasted memory. Once some disk contents have been brought in, it is wasteful to discard that data just to make the RAM that it occupied "free." Inactive memory is memory that is not currently used, can be given to an application that needs it without doing any disk I/O (or used as a destination for reading disk content) but which currently holds disk data that might be useful in the future. I.e., it's file content of some sort.
To get a better idea of how Mac OS X manages RAM and how to interpret the Activity Monitory dispaly, see this tech note: Mac OS X: Reading system memory usage in Activity Monitor.
Rosetta is indeed memory hungry, but it's an interim solution. With 2 GB of RAM installed, you can run a lot of applications with alacrity.
Lastly, your Safari, an Intel-native application, is currently using 2 GB. This is a known issue with Safari, though it seems to me that it has gotten better since 2.0.3 was released in 10.4.6. Still, it's a bit of a memory hog, to be sure. Now that Firefox, Camino and Seamonkey are all available in Universal (Intel native) forms, you have alternatives. Firefox seems a lot more parsimonious when it comes to RAM.

  • How do I resize Photoshop - it's too large for my Macbook Pro screen and I can't get to the resize corners?

Photoshop is too large for my Macbook Pro screen.  I cannot access the resize handles - they're off the screen and I can't drag it.  Any solution?

Do you see the red, yellow, and red window buttons? If so click on the green one.
If you don't see them then you are possibly in full screen mode, and pressing the "F" key once or twice allow you to get back to normal mode.
