Can I Move CS3 Setups to CS4 When I Upgrade

I was wondering if it's possible to move brushes and other setups I've done in CS3 to CS4 once I upgrade. I've tried several ways of searching to see if this has been asked before but I didn't find anything.

So this is getting frustrating. I reply to the post but I don't see anything added. So let's try this for a third and final time before I throw in the towel.
Dave: I went into CS3 to unload my Actions and my Brushes but ran into some difficulties finding the method to do it. I did see in the Action palette where I could Save and Load but when I tried to Save I got an Invalid Filename message. I never did find the brush palette (I'm fairly new to PS and I'm still learning where everything is). I usualy hit "B" and use the tools bar for my brushes. How do you get to the Brush palette disply.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

Can't move minimized images in CS4

I print alot of picture packages at a time, and was used to minimizing the packages, and making a vertical row of them in photoshop, to keep track of where I was in the order while they were printing. This was just fine from PS7 through CS3, but in CS4, if I minimize them, they go to the bottom of the photoshop work area, but pop back open when I try to move them. I seem to have lost the ability to control where these go--bottom of the workspace, period.
I'm told that it's a problem with the OS, not Photoshop, but within PSCS4 is the only place I have this issue. Having updated PS, I have CS, CS2, & CS3 on the machine to use, and I had hoped that there was a preference I was missing, but nothing has helped... Seems like a pretty small thing, but I keep having to do print runs from CS2, because of not wanting to deal with this, and it's a pain in the backside to hop back & forth.
Just curious--has anyone else seen this behavior?

Something you installed is trying to translate the image format and alter the files.
You'll have to track down what you did install that could be doing something that evil.

Can't uninstall CS3 after installing CS4

After I got CS4 installed and working ok, I tried to uninstall CS3. A dialog window showed two components that could be uninstalled; CS3 and Shared components. Both were checked and grayed out so that I could not uncheck Shared components. How can I uninstall CS3?

Thanks, I spoke to Adobe and they said that all I had to do was be patient. The uninstall took about 40 minutes, and it was quite a while before the progress bar budged.

I can't move tv show to ipod when used as external drive

I have been putting itunes purchased tv shows on my 60g ipod as a hard drive untill it stopped working. I drag the show to the ipod icon on the desktop and the plus sign appears then nothing happens. I have 28g free and it's worked fine untill now. I'm just doing this temporarily untill i get a new hard drive for my computer. I only have 13g now. So if I want to buy anything else I have to free up the space and I know that if I just put it on my ipod as a watchable video I can't move it back.

Does this video play in iTunes? How is your iPod configured to sync videos from under its Movies configuration tab in iTunes?

hmm... i wonder if that's "official" or if the installer just doesn't check. i still have cs2 installed on this box, as well as cs3 ee. the rep said that didn't matter as far as the terms of the license went though. (i still say that's not clear and is up for interpretation.) i still haven't decided which i'm going for. the point of my query with the online rep was really to get it cleared up once and for all.
do you still have cs2 or cs installed there too? or just cs3 ee and cs4 standard?

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

CS3 file crashing CS4 when trying to open

I have a CS3 file that I created on the Mac and when I try to open it on my PC in CS4 it crashes. When I use an older version of the same FLA file it opens in CS4. Are there known issues of things that cause a file to crash going from CS3 to CS4?

I believe I solved it. I fixed the issue through some combo of deleting all Palm files, reinstalling and overwriting the User data via my handheld. All was good with the world, and then it just happened again. I tried to launch the desktop software and just got the spinning beachball of death. I hadn't installed anything since I last successfully synched and opened the Palm software. But I remembered something...Prior to both of these incidents, I had done something different in my To Do list. When you open a To Do item, you can enter a primary category. I have all my To Dos associated with a category. But there is another category list to the right of the primary one. I have never used it before. But I was organizing some project work To Dos by associating them as a Primary category Projects and a secondary category with different names. This is helpful for creating views without cluttering my To Do categories unduly. EXCEPT...I think this is what somehow corrupted my file and caused the Desktop to hang. Each time we reinstalled and resynched from the handheld, it stripped out those secondary categories...and it works.

QuickTime: can't move to a specific point when playing .WMA audio files

I use a lot of .WMA audio files recorded on my Olympus Digital Voice recorder. Since the latest update of QuickTime I cannot move to a specific point in a file. When I click and drag on the diamond cursor it won't move. The only way to move through the file is to play it or 'fast' forward it - which takes ages.

I have the same problem. when playing wma or wmv file, simply just cannot drag the progress bar to a specific position. Just have to progress from the very beginning to the end. Once it has been played to the end, I can move the progress bar. Very weird
I have both flip4Mac and perian installed with the latest version.
Could anybody please help.

Can't open CS3 docs in CS4.

I can't open an indesign doc made only a year ago. I have tried several but none of my old docs appear to open in CS4. Is there no backward compatibility? I am using the latest update version 6.0.3 557 on Vista x64.

Older docs should open just fine.
What is the file extension on the document you are having trouble with? How are you trying to open (Double-click, File > Open)? Do you get an error message?
Is this isolated to older docs in general, specific docs, or are you also unable to sve and reopen a new file?
What is the installation path you used for ID (what folder is it inistalled into)?

Can't replace old versions of applications when installing upgrades

A couple of applications I am running (SlingPlayer and iScrobbler, to be specific) have newer versions. When I download and install the new version, drop it into my applications folder, I get the message there's an older version to replace. When I click "ok" to that, I get the error message: "The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items."
I have full admin permissions -- it's my computer -- so what is causing this and what do I do to allow the new versions to install?

Check the apps themselves to see if they are locked - do a Get Info.'
Also check to see if they are running...if so quit and try again.
You may have to check for any settings that involve running at boot, disable those and restart the computer.
If these fail and you still have issues - SL is rumored to be having problems with aliases, so see if that is a factor.

Can I swap out my old HD when I upgrade....

Ordered an 15" i7 MBP. I'd like to swap my old HD out (256MB SSD), rather than go through the bother of reinstalling everything or even doing a Time Machine backup. Is this possible? What will happen when I try to boot the new machine with my old HD in it?

Nothing, most likely. The OS installation that ran your old machine probably won't boot the new one.
Back the old drive up to an external drive using Time Machine or cloning software. With the old machine in FireWire Target Disk Mode, erase the old drive and clone the new MBP's hard drive onto it. Swap the two drives and test-boot the new machine to make sure the clone is OK. Then use Migration Assistant to migrate your data from the backup of the old drive onto the drive in the new MBP.
If you want to use or sell the older machine, use the discs that came with it to reinstall a suitable OS for it on the drive you took out of the new machine.

If you perform a back up of your iPhone 5 in iTunes or in iCloud, it will back up your Wi-Fi networks you join so you do not have to enter in the password. Where can get Illustrator CS3 Trial?

I just re-installed XP but lost my Illy CS3 disk! I've got a record of my valid serial and was hoping to find a trial online and just enter my number. Unfortunately I can't find CS3 anywhere - only CS4. Using a CS3 Suite disk and installing just AI won't work either. Adobe says I'm SOL and says have to buy CS4. They say they have no trial versions of CS3 anywhere.(yah right)
Anyhow was wondering if someone had the downloaded CS3 trial (Illustrator only - not the Suite). I did but unfortunately it was on my XP that had to get wiped.

It Keeps telling me my trial is expired but I've never had illustrater before
