Can I no longer change fonts in Safari 6?

I find no prefs in Safari for changing to my preferred font.  ???

I wonder if it has anything to do with the Retina display for the new 15" MBP?  Safari 6 may have been optimized for the Retnia and somehow reduces the font size in our non-retina screens?
FYI, I service web sites and I always noticed that the text was one size bigger in the browser versus what i would see in the html editor.  Now in Safari 6 it looks exactly like it does in the editor window.  Could it be that they are now showing a more accurate view of what web site developers are creating?
Maybe they are ahead of the curve?

  • How to change fonts in Safari 8.0?

    Hello, I have Yosemite and Safari 8.0 and cannot figure out how to change fonts in Safari and leave the fonts in other applications unchanged? And I don't care about the menus, but the content of web pages. Could someone please help me solve the problem?

    You don't without using custom css sheets. The web site developers specify the fonts to be used.

    Can you highlight or change font in notes?

    Settings>Notes>Font. You can choose one of three fonts for Notes but you cannot use more than one font at a time. When you change the font - it will change all of the text that you type to that font.
    You cannot highlight text in Notes.

  • Can anyone help me change fonts and size on my page? I don't understand the class questions?

    Can anyone help me change fonts and size on my page? I don't understand the class questions? All I want to do is change the font and size of a table or div.
    http://www.allgearinc.com/AG12SSWL-Swift.htm -One problem page

    If you want to change the fonts of the entire page then this code will do the trick:
    body {
        font-size: 16pt;
        color: silver;
         font-family: whatever, goes, here;
    If you want to change the fonts of ALL tables on a page then the code is something like this:
    table {
        font-size: 20pt;
        font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;
        font-style: italic;
        font-weight: bold;
    what exactly do you want to change?  Can you be a bit specific so that Ben or Ken can give you the exact code and tell you about the short-hand method to write the code in one line.
    Have you bought a book on CSS yet?  If not, it is a good idea to get one as a reference.  Eric Meyer writes good books on CSS.

  • Can no longer change fonts in Mail messages

    All of the sudden (within the last couple of days), I find I can no longer change the font - or even the style (bold, italic) of any new mail message. I can change the color, but that's about it. The font stays as whatever the default Message Font is. I did try changing the default to verify it was not a font corruption issue.
    I don't think it's a font panel issue since I can change Fonts, Styles, etc. in other apps that use the Font Panel.
    Anyone have any thoughts?
    Thanks up front.
    -fQ-

    Some more tests .. it's definitely not the app itself .. I booted from my external .. and I launched the Mail app on my main .. and it worked fine (of course, all my accounts, etc weren't there) .. so you're right .. it's either a prefs thing (though not the "com.apple.mail.plist" file since opening a brand new user still has the same problem).. or maybe even a corrupt .pkg file in Receipts .. wait a sec .. replaced the Mail.pkg file just to check .. still nope. So it's gotta be something low level.
    At this point, I'm thinking what may be easier on both of us is ... I'm waiting for the Apple Box Set (Leopard/iLife 09/iWork 09) to start shipping before I upgrade .. that should be pretty soon .. so I'll just hand on till then (it's really not all that big a deal I guess in the big picture .. just irritating) .. and see if upgrading corrects the issue .. if not, then I guess I'm off bug hunting again.
    Again .. thanks ever so much for your time and effort.
    I'll post back here with the results either way.

  • Changing fonts in Safari 6

    The font settings are gone from Safari's Preferences. How am I supposed to change the font?

    https://discussions.apple.com/message/19052289
    I have created three separate Style Sheets, named Calibri.css, Lucida Grande.css and Trebuchet.css.
    The code for all three style sheets appears below, separated by dashes -- create a new file in TextEdit, make it a TXT file (as opposed to a RTF file), select text from /* to } and copy and paste to your new text file, save it as *.css (* being the name you want to use). You can change the font to any you have installed.
    Then, simply go to Safari -> Preferences -> Advanced and choose which style sheet you want to apply. I have customised my Toolbar to show the small/large A/A to change font size. Perhaps some kind soul can add to the code below to force a fixed sized font.
    Alternatively, look for a Safari Extension called HelveticaTheWorld and force all pages to be displayed in Helvetica (the ugliest font ever invented).

  • Why can I no longer change Global Plan options from the website?

    I used to be able to add and remove the $29.99 Global Option (reduced phone minutes and 100MB data) via the web interface, but now it is no longer possible. When I click on "My Global Device & Services", I see "My Global Plan" but when I click on "Change Plan", I am transferred to a page where all I can do is change my OVERALL Verizon plan - no global features!

        Thanks for trying to get that plan changed yourself, Zap13. We want to make managing your account easy. On that Change Plan page you described, there should be a tab at the top next to "Chose your plan options" that says "International & Global (Optional)". From there you should be able to make any international plan changes needed.

  • Changing fonts in Safari

    I use Earthlink web mail and the font changed to something I hate. How do I change the font to something more palatable. If I go into preferences the sytle sheet says "none selected." Any ideas? Thanks.

    texteditor ---
    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
    I think you may have a font conflict.
    Copy a section of the font you hate.
    Then paste it into text editor.
    What font does it say it is???

  • Hi, My places.sqlite file size is 30,720 KB have I reached the maximum size, is there even a maximum size for this. Visited links are no longer changing color.

    Hi,
    My places.sqlite file size is 30,720 KB have I reached the maximum size, is there even a maximum size for this.
    Suddenly the visited links are no longer changing font color, as I am preparing for an exam I need visited questions to change color, to keep track of questions that I have finished. But if I delete a few days of history then again,a few more visited links change color then again it stops, so it seems something is getting full and not able to accommodate any more? Why are my visited links no longer changing color after a certain number of visits? I do have a back up of the places.sqlite file. So I have tried everything from deleting the profile, uninstalling reinstalling, creating a new profile, then copy pasting places.sqlite etc, but as mentioned after a few visits, visited links no longer change color, if I delete a few days of history then again a few visits will again change color and then stop again, so what should I increase so that my visited links quota is increased, I have also tried tweaking about:config and it has had no result. Although I was not really confident that increasing brower.history_max _pages (don't remember exact name, but I am sure you get the idea) is going to help.
    Seems as though my visited links change color, quota is full and only if I delete a few days of history will I get a few more visited links to change color. Can somebody shed some light? As mentioned my places.sqlite file size is 30,720 KB so I think perhaps this has something to do with this? Would really appreciate if someone could help. Thank you.

    There is no maximum for the places.sqlite database and other SQLite database files like I wrote above.<br />
    All SQLite database file have fixed minimum sizes and if they run out of space they are automatically increased in size with a specific chunk size. For places.sqlite this is 10 MB for the minimum and for the chunk.

  • Why can't we change fonts anymore?

    Why is Apple taking away our abilty to change the default font in Safari?  I have better looking fonts I can use.  This sort of stuff should be a configurable option.  I'm the user.  I know what I want best.
    Until Apple comes back to their senses, are there any plug-ins we can install that let us configure Fonts?  If not, I'm probably switching to Firefox or Chrome asap.

    You can. Go to the "Advanced" tab of the Preferences window, and under "Style Sheet" select a file that has the font spec you want in it. All you need is for the file to have something small in it, like this:
    body {
              font:  12px "Lucida Grande";

  • Why can I no longer specify my preferred font for text which has a link attached to it?

    I use TBird to send old school, professional looking business letters with logo image header and footers. Recently, I am unable to apply my preferred font to the website link part of my footer. This seems to have become an issue after one of the more recent upgrades of TBird. Its frustrating as I feel good graphic design requires uniformity in font style/type and size. This seems no longer possible. Now when I attach a hyperlink to my website address it changes my preferred font to something that looks like Arial and locks both font and size. It looks crappy.

    <blockquote>
    The only way I know its 12 pt. is that I copy into Word and check the font size there.
    </blockquote>
    Huge error number one, and probably cause of your problem in the first place.
    <blockquote>
    I would really like to see TBird use point size for fonts.
    </blockquote>
    Thunderbird uses HTML, HTML is expressed in pixels.
    <blockquote>
    In terms of not having Papyrus on you Linux box, I suppose that's you're choice.
    </blockquote>
    Licensing actually, not choice. The font is licensed and distributed by Microsoft. See http://www.microsoft.com/typography/fonts/font.aspx?FMID=1113 for a list of products your recipient can install to get the font.
    <blockquote>
    In my outgoing email subject line I always specify that my reply is best viewed in HTML, full screen.
    </blockquote>
    HTML is the default for almost all mail so that does appear to be overkill. Full screen. Personally I would be just as likely to not read mail that required full screen. Mail gets about half a screen here.
    <blockquote>
    Most systems will automatically substitute fonts for ones not on that system, at least in Apple and PC systems. </blockquote>
    Papurus actually has a higher chance of being present on a Mac system than a windows one as Apple have distributed it with OSX since 2003.
    <blockquote>
    Anyway all of that is a little off topic. I wanted help with why TBird intermittently messes with font size and style when I cut and pasting email responses to people.
    </blockquote>
    As I said at the beginning. Do not use word. Word first converts to RTF then to HTML (All done internally) The resulting HTML is extremely complex and to put it bluntly pastes as a whole page from which Thunderbird must extract only the relevant parts. (inside the body tag) The end result is the program ends up confused about what goes where.
    <blockquote>
    And, if there is some reason why sometimes, again I stress sometimes, it will not let me use the font of my choice for text that has a hyperlink attached to it.
    </blockquote>
    If your pasting from Word the most obvious thing will be that the hyperlinked text will have it's own font tags another reason I suggest you use the program your in.
    * If you want it on paper use a word processor. It is what they are designed for
    * If you want it in email use the email program to actually write your mail.
    * If you want to guarantee the look on delivery send PDF attachments.

  • My touchpad no longer controls font size in foxfire, which means I can't read some of my emails, WHY?

    How can I change font size on my email? I used to be able to use the touch-pad on my laptop. It no longer works in firefox but still works on document files, so it's YOUR FAULT!! It always worked until I installed firefox 4.

    Some gestures have been removed in Firefox 4.
    You can restore the zoom feature by changing the values of the related prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page.
    browser.gesture.pinch.in -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReduce</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.in.shift -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReset</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.out -> <b>cmd_fullZoomEnlarge</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.out.shift -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReset</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.latched -> <b>false</b>
    To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
    If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />

  • HT4550 Lately I find that there is a change in my Safari program.  I am no longer able to minimize Safari, instead I only have the choice of quitting the program.  What do I need to do to bring back the minimize feature?

    Lately I find that there is a change in my Safari program.  I am no longer able to select "minimize" when I want to save the present page for a later time.  Instead, I can only quit the program to get out of it.  Please tell me what I need to do to get the minimize feature back.  Thank you.

    Hi...
    "minimize" when I want to save the present page for a later time
    Minimize reduces the size of the window. It doesn't save the page.
    Click the Reading List icon just to the left of the Bookmarks icon left side of the Safari toolbar then drag the url from the Safari Address Bar to the Reading List.
    You can access saved pages from there.
