Can I not sync Calendar via USB anymore?

I just noticed that my iPad no longer syncs with the Calendar on my laptop. I did a search in the Help menu (which actually worked this time) and it said that you have to sync Calendars in Maverick with iCloud. What??? I don't use iCloud, and don't intend to.
Is this true? Hooking up the iPad to the computer no longer syncs data through the cable??

Hello Dub1_303. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Ok so here is what i have to work with, an action tech modem with a usb port, and a airport express connected to it via that usb port. the problem is in the airport express itself. Its not configured yet! How can i configure the AE via usb because this pc running vista doesn't have wifi? Can it be done via usb?
The AirPort Express Base Station (AX) must be connected to a DSL/Cable modem via Ethernet to function as a wireless router; the AX's USB port is only for connecting to a USB printer.
It sounds like you are attempting to use the AX as a substitute wireless card for the PC by connecting it to the PC's USB port. Sorry, but that will not work.

  • I can no longer sync my calendar via USB after updating to Mavericks.

Updated to Mavericks, set up iCloud but itunes (11.1.5) will no longer sync calendars with my iphone.
Worked fine under osx10.8 before the update.
I phone is an old 3g running ios 3.1 (yeah, I know it's old) so I realize that wifi syncing will no longer work.
I would like to be able to sync my calendar via USB. Otherwise, sycing music etc via cable still works fine.
Please don't just suggest that I buy a new phone. I will soon. But in the meantime I would like to solve this problem as it has caused me trouble with missed meetings and conflicting timetables.

Yes, there are many posts on it. It is no longer possible in Mavericks to locally sync Calanders and Contacts via USB. Nut there are plenty of alternatives beside iCloud.
    Here are some solutions.

    Here is yet another
If your Mavericks came with anything other than Mavericks pre-installed
OS X Mavericks: Revert to a previous OS X version
Also there are a host of other Cloud services you can use. You do not have to use iCloud at all. Although there ARE over 320+ million iCloud accounts presently active, so it is extremely popular with users.

My problem - when syncing and error messages  comes up:  iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone because an error occurred while margin data."  I've tried turning the phone off and back on, & tried both USB ports but get the same thing.  What can I do next since it doesn't give me even one clue as to what the error would be?

Before I started to resync calendars one by one as suggested in the troubleshooting article, I remembered something that came up in a sync when I first attempted :  a 'which one do you want to keep' message about a repeating calendar event, which came up with three options, one from Calendar, and two from iCal on the phone.  I deleted that event, then went through the calendar resync one by one, and all seems OK now.
In Music there is a way to find 'ghost' items that show up as grayed-out on the menus, so that you can try to reassociate or delete them.  It would be nice to have a similar way to work with Calendar!
Thanks for pointing me to the right article.

i get my work email on my iPhone, but i do not sync calendars and contacts as i have to use an imap connection for work, and this does not allow for calendar or contact syncing.
i have seen a gmail/outlook sync tool, but i am afraid i do not use it so i can not offer any help with it.

  • TS3999 My iPad is not syncing calendar events via iCloud that I enter on my iPhone 5, but events entered on the iPad are syncing with the iPhone.

My iPad is not syncing calendar events via iCloud that I enter on my iPhone 5, but events entered on the iPad are syncing with the iPhone.

On you phone, go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Calendar and make sure you have selected a calendar listed under your iCloud account as your default.  If not, make this change, then enter a new event on your phone and see if it syncs properly now.
If your settings are already correct, or if after changing them it still isn't syncing properly, make sure all the calendar events on your phone are in your iCloud calendar.  If not, enter any missing events either on your iPad, or on icloud.com from your computer.  Then, after your iCloud calendar is up to date, go to Settings>iCloud on your phone and turn Calendars to Off.  When prompted, choose Delete from My iPhone.  After a minute or so, turn Calendars back to On to sync your iCloud calendar back to your phone.  Then try adding a new event on your phone and see if it syncs properly now.

  • "iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone "name" because the sync server failed to sync the iPhone".

I get the message "iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone "name" because the sync server failed to sync the iPhone" every time I sync the iPhone 3GS with iTunes by USB.  Can anyone help? Please !!!!

I posted the following to "iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone "xx" because the sync server failed to sync the iPhone. What does this mean??" at https://discussions.apple.com/message/15820680#15820680
I haven't seen it mentioned but the secret is to
    Sync only selected calendars
Select "Remove Calendars" from the popup window
(This is ambigous: from where are the calendars removed?  From the device being synced to)
    Click apply.
Oops!  My memory is already gone stale.  I think I left no calendars selected, then clicked apply.  Then I selected the calendars that I wanted, then clicked apply.
In any case, I had a blank calendar on my iPad and then I had all the updated events that I wanted on my iPad.
Thanks to all who provided some of the essential clues to resolving this problem.

Since upgrading to Maverics, can no longer sync Contacts via cable!
As I am not willing to put my Contacts data on iCloud, I am no longer able to update Contacts between MacBook, iPhone and iPad.  This greatly reduces the value of these products.
    Any help here???
    Thanks.

Wait for the next iTunes release.

  • Syncing email via USB

Is there any way to sync email between Outlook and the iPhone via the USB connection - from what I've read on this forum is seems like it can't be done.
What is the reason for not allowing email to be sync'd via USB?

Firstly you should not have installed iSync 1.5 under Mac OS X 10.4.11.
iSync 2.4 is the version of iSync for Mac OS X 10.4.11 and is already installed. By installing an older version you may have broken syncing completely because doing so will have overwritten important system components with much older versions.
Hopefully, you made a full system backup before installing iSync 1.5 so that you can easily revert to it.
The reason why no existing iSync Plugins (which can only be used with iSync 2.4 and later) don't support USB syncing is because the phone itself doesn't support USB syncing on a Mac. You can only sync older Sony Ericsson phones via Bluetooth.
Even if the phone was USB compatible, if you can't navigate the menus then you couldn't have put the phone in the correct USB mode. Plus, you couldn't have transferred the contacts anyway, as contacts are not visible via USB on any Sony Ericsson phones.
So, unfortunately if you can't use the phone, there is no way to get your contacts off it, unless you happened to copy your contacts onto the SIM and can put the SIM in another fully working phone.

  • ITunes could not sync calendars  to the iPod because sync server failed to

I have been having a problem with my iPod touch and syncing the calendar with my PC I keep getting this error message +iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPod "Peters iPod" because sync server failed to sync the iPod+ It could be coincidence but this problem began right after I got my Verizon iPhone and loaded that into my iTunes, I never get this message on my iPhone and have received it only twice on my iPad. I called Apple Care and they suggested that I remove and reinstall iTunes and QuickTime and they sent me a link on how to remove them in a particular sequence...I followed their advice but it didn't help so I called them back and they said I must not have followed the sequence and to try again...needles to say I am frustrated because it wasn't that complicated I removed it as directed and still I get the error message...if anyone has any suggestions *please help!!*

Thanks, Stuwawah.  Tried this.  Although Notes did sync, and although the calendar info was posted to iPod, we haven't fixed the problem yet.  New symptom to report.  When I opened "calendar" on the iPod, I was able to tap on an event, but I can't tap my way back to any other view of "calendar."  The "<--calendars" button is missing.  Is there a trip to the Apple Store in my near future?

  • "iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone "ABC" because the iPhone disconnected"

    Hi.
So, I have an iPhone 4 running iOS 4.3.5. I am syncing it using iTunes version 10.4.1 running on a MacBookPro running Mac OSX 10.7.1.
When I do a sync it runs through the usual steps, including the step where it says it is syncing calendars, and each step appears to complete in the iTunes window. However, as it finishes, a warning message appears saying "iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone "ABC" because the iPhone disconnected". Here's a screen grab of the error message:-
Now, the phone has not physically disconnected. I'm a bit baffled by this. It is a new iPhone 4, but inital syncs were performed without any difficulty. I have tried inserting a TEST event, to make sure that there is in fact a difficulty with the sync, and I can confirm that the error is not a phantom; syncs are not taking place. In additon, I have tried (albeit not methodically) to vary the particular calendars that are to sync, and the sync settings around old events, but to no avail.
Any suggestions for trouble shooting this would be gratefully received.
    Thanks.

Seems a workaround solution is here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/9159203#9159203
This seems to solve the problem but we'll wait and see...

  • Itunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone because the iPhone disconnected

Just went to sync my iphone today and got this message:
iTunes could not sync calendars to the iphone because the iphone disconnected.
Any ideas what the problem might be.  Had not had this happen to me before.
Can't be iCloud because the only thing I use that for is Find My Mac.
Restarted iTunes as well - still get the warning notice.
    Any ideas?

I have the same issue - it just started happening.  Any suggestions out there??

  • ITunes could not sync calendars to iPhone because the iPhone disconnected

    error message
iTunes could not sync calendars to iPhone because the iPhone disconnected
I have spoken to Apple a couple of times in the last week (approx 2hr) apple support said it could be a Microsoft issue I have spoken to Microsoft and read endless information from the net and it seems that Microsoft is not the issue.
I have uninstalled itunes and reinstalled, reset all settings in Settings\General on the phone, reset sync history on the iPhone, upgraded microsoft office 2003 to 2007 and I am still getting the error message.
I have a iPhone 3G, pc is running windows 7 and just upgraded to microsoft office Home and Student 2007 and Office Outlook 2007.
    iTunes version 11.0.2.26
    iPhone iOS 6.1.3
I have the same error on my wife's iPhone as well.
    Any help would be great.

Thanks midwestcraft. I had this problem and your answer solved it for me.
Thought this further info may be of use to some who wants more historic dates in their calendar.
I had "do not sync events older than" unchecked and the input field set to "0". When I changed it to 180, it worked perfectly. I've found that I can increase this number to "545" - anything higher causes the error. This seems to coincide with some strange multiple-entry events in my calendar.
Don't know if this will be a clue for somebody to fix the issue.

  • Treo 755 will not sync with my computer anymore

I have a Treo 755 (Palm os) and it will not sync with my computer anymore. I have a PC with Win XP pro SP3. The last time it sync'ed was about two months ago, I had to fiddle with the connection before it would work. Now when I plug the phone in and push the button, the computer chimes but that is all that it will do. After it times out the phone gives an error message. I am thinking that maybe it is the cable or phones contacts that are bad. (It has always been hard to unplug the cable from the phone). I have also tried reinstalling the software with no luck. How can I check the connections, is there another way to sync with my computer?
Post relates to: Treo 700wx (Telus Mobility)

It said that the connection between my handheld and desk top could not be established. After I posted yesterday I looked though the web site and found were is said to blow out any dust from the terminals on the handheld so I did and it worked. This morning I tried it again and it will not connect. It must be one of the connections either on the handheld or on the cable. Is there a way of testing either? The computer is recognizing the handheld but it just will not communicate.

  • IPhone 3GS will not sync calendars because the sync server failed.   Just installed Outlook 2010.  Is there a fix for this?

My iPhone 3GS could not sync calendars to the iPhone because the sync server failed to sync the iPhone.    Just installed Outlook 2010.   Is there a fix for this?

I am simply lookig for some help not an argument.  I am not an RF specialist however have setup a few wireless networks in my tenure at Wynn Resorts.  I fully agree that wireless networking is an art and a science however the powers that be in Network Land have toughted wireless networking is the easiest and quickest way to get two computers to talk with one another.  As I previously said I have already turned one (1) MBP in for this problem and Apple decided to replace it because they could not fix the problem with my particular MBP.  This MBP was running Leopard when the problems started
I am having a hard time believeing that there are several other devicces in my home that depend on a wireless network to operate and my MBP is the only one having an issue.  I took this a step further and decided to see what would happen if I tried to connect wirelessly via Fusion.  In Windows 7 I am able to print and scan to my hearts content without any issues.  I am able to browse the internet as much as I want.  I close Fusion and try to connect to my printer via wireless and nothing.
In order to get Apple to help do I need to get a Network Analyzer and capture packets when I have these problems?  Out of the 1000 + posts is there a consolidation of which answer is the best?  BTW I am accessing the internet via a wireless connection using Fusion and Windows 7.
In response to Linc's comments, I will look at the router specifications however I did not qualify that these devices are not using the wireless connection at the same time.  Right now I would guess there are maybe two (2) or three (3) at the most that are actively transmitting / receiving information. --  Thanks
