Can I open an ibook on my PC?

Can I open an ibook on my PC?

No, they can currently only be read on the iBooks app on an iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch - Apple haven't yet created a Mac or PC reader for ibooks. If you want to be able to read books on your computer then you could try other apps/stores e.g. Amazon have a PC Kindle reader for their ebooks

  • How can i open my iBook on my Mac, not just on my iPhone

    Hi,
how can i open my iBook on my Mac, not just on my iPhone?  I ask this questions in hopes that I can eventually find a way to have the iPhone read a non "Enhanced" iBook to me.
I used the Accessibility reader for a brief time but it's very persinickety.  Move the phone a tiny bit and it threw me out from page 70 and back to page 48.  Changing pages when you are in Accessibility is excruciating. Now, I cannot get back there at all.
I downloaded 2 apps that claim they can read to me but the closest I can get in the instructions says I need to open the iBook from my Mac computer with my iPhone connected and then I will be able to open the iBook in the app called "Read text to me".  Only when I go to open the book on my Mac it says "This book can’t be viewed using this computer. You can view this book using iBooks on your iOS device."
Thank god, I only have a brain tumor and am not yet completely blind.
I've been to the Apple store twice, checked out a youtube page with all it's comments and I am still nowhere, over the course of a week.
    Can anybody help me?
    thank you,
    Ellen

    You cannot.
Ibooks are only for iphone/ipod touch/ipad
So, there are no third party readers/emulators in Mac OS X and Windows to read them from iTunes? I don't even own an iOS device. I just redeemed Action Comics' Superman #1 from Starbucks and iTunes.
    This one?
Where the REQUIREMENTS spell out that an iOS device is needed to read it?

  • Can't open downloaded ibooks on iPad

Can't open downloaded ibooks on iPad Brooks i was reading some days ago.

You can't - ibooks from Apple can currently only be read in the iBooks app on an iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch, Apple haven't so far made a Mac or PC reader for them
If you don't have one of those iOS devices, then though all purchases are considered final, you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they will refund or credit you : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • I can't open Maps, iBooks, or the App Store on my Mac

I just installed OS X 10.9 Mavericks on my Mac (specs below). The install went fairly smoothly with no hiccups. After installing, I ran CleanMyMac, which cleared my cache, language files, etc. I've run this program millions of times before with no problems.
I've now discovered that I cannot open Maps, iBooks, or the App Store on my Mac. I can open and run iTunes, but when prompted by iTunes to update to the latest version, I click 'OK' and see no response (i.e., the App Store does not open).
    Can anyone provide any guidance?
    Specs:
    Mid-2009 MBP 13.3
2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    4GB RAM
    750GB 7200RPM HDD

Yesterday was the first time I use the CleanMyMac and thanks it damaged my OS.
My solution was Reinstalling OS X
    How?
Restart your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you should be able to access the built in utilities to restore OS X using OS X Recovery
Note: be sure that your Mac is connected to the Internet.
I did it today, it's finally working without any loss!

  • Can't Open an iBook (from iBook Author)

I downloaded an iBook, one which was created in iBook Author. I get a message that simply says the file cannot be opened. (The document "iBook Name" could not be opened."
I imported the iBook into iTunes and tried to add it to my iPad. But the iBook does not show up on the list of books that I can sync to the iPad.
When I look at the iBook in iTunes, in the Books sidebar section, I can see the iBook. It is listed as a Book not a Protected Book.
I checked the permissions on the file and I can read and write this file, so it doesn't seem to be a permission issue.

iBook Author is for making iBooks, it cannot read them.
That's interesting. I would never have guessed that iBooks Author couldn't open an iBook. Even one that was created in iBook Author?
Also, I figured out why I couldn't sync this book to my iPad. I had forgot that on this iPad I had not upgraded to iBooks 2. Which I've now done and it syncs just fine.
    Thanks.

  • Can't open the iBook I created on iPhone

I created an iBook for students and they can't open it on their iPhones. Why? Is it because I added interactive features?

That's what we're being told for now.
Email from Apple says this about that:
OS X Mavericks will include iBooks for Mac. Customers will be able to purchase and read books, including interactive books featuring video, 3D images, and more, on their Macs. Additionally, the books they've already downloaded on their iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch will automatically appear in iBooks on the Mac. Here, we've included details and resources that help you create interactive books for both iOS and OS X.
    Creating Books with JavaScript Interactivity
With OS X Mavericks, iBooks customers can read interactive books on both iOS and OS X. Interactive features like drag-and-drop or user-initiated animations are supported on both platforms. Interactivity on iOS requires touch events, while interactivity on OS X requires mouse events. Ensure that your script supports both touch and mouse input.

  • I can't open the iBooks after I downloaded an article. How do I solve this?

My iBooks start giving me problem after I downloaded an article. Think it could be due to the article but can't delete it since I can't open ibooks

Did you try to remove the book you downloaded by deselecting it in iTunes and  sync the iPad again?
If this does not help, set it up as new device again.

There is no know virus threat for iOS devices, unless you run modified software on them.

You must be within the Country with a Valid Billing Address and Credit Card for that Country to use the iTunes Store of that Country...

  • Can't open an ibook fron my iphone in itunes

I cannot open an ibook from my iphone in itunes.
Iphone was sync and book is listed but I cannot open to read it.

    That is correct.
Ibooks are for iphone/ipod touch/ipad, not computers.

  • Can not open my iBook app please help

iBook app wil load for two seconds then automatically jumps screen to my homepage. Please help

Try closing the iBooks app via the taskbar and see if it works when you re-open the app : from the home screen (i.e. not with the iBooks app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the iBooks app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't fix it then try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
If it still doesn't work then you could try deleting the app and re-download it from the store - buy first copy your ibooks / PDFs / epubs from it to your computer's iTunes via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases so that you can copy them back afterwards (if your ibooks are still in the store then you should also be able to re-download them via the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the app)

  • I can't open the ibooks store from the iBooks app

When I open the iPad app, the store button that's supposed to be in the upper left hand corner isn't visible -- there or anywhere else!

Check the General/Restrictions settings and see if perhaps restrictions are active and the iBookstore is turned off.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can't open PDF's attached to emails in Ibooks

I'm trying to open PDF's that are attached to emails in I-Books.  sometimes when the attachment downloads in my email and I double click on the PDF attachment, it lets me open it using Ibooks while other times it just automatically opens in the email.
what should I be doing differently?

Both can be opened in iBooks. This is where you should store them if you intend on keeping them (or another PDF reader of your choice).
Depending on how they are created, the email app used to author the email and a number of other factors, some will appear in your email and others will just be attachments. Both can be saved the same way...
There is no double-click on iPad - you tap and hold until you get the Share menu. Tap the app of your choice to open the PDF.

  • How can I open my books in a Windows computer?

I just switched over to a Windows computer from a Macbook and now I can't open my iBooks. Any suggestions?

Reading the Requirements section on any purchase page in the iBookstore indicates that Windows is not one of the options.  They can only be read on an iOS device or a Mac running OS 10.9.
That said, if you happen to have some books in .epub format without DRM, you should be able to read them on a pc using an .epub reader app.  Free books and those by certain publishers like O'Reilly should fall into that category.
To find a Windows epub reader app you would need to search Google or ask in some Windows forum.
