Can I opt to only sync iPhone 4 via iTunes and NOT iCloud?

I only use the iCal, Contacts, and Mail parts of MobileMe. I sync all three via iTunes. I don't need to worry about any web storage or gallery or other stuff.
Because my MacBookPro is early 2008, I'm leery of upgrading to Lion, even though it's needed for iCloud. I don't want to deal with the decreased battery life or any downgrade in speed. My iPhone 4 is running the most current iOS.
If I don't upgrade to Lion, I accept that I can't migrate to iCloud via my MacBookPro.
Here are my questions:
1. If I don't physically initiate a migration to iCloud, will my .me/.mac mail accounts disappear or will I still be able to get my mail as usual using the mail apps on my MacBookPro and iPhone 4? Will I have to change any of the imap server settings after June 30?
2. For my contacts and iCal, will I be able to continue to sync to my iPhone 4 via iTunes, so that I can pretend iCloud doesn't exist? I realize any calendar/contacts changes wouldn't be immediately seen across all devices, but I don't need them to be--changes can wait until my next iTunes sync.
3. If I don't make any changes, will I be able to set up my iCloud stuff at a later date, after MobileMe is history?
4. If I simply MUST initiate a move to iCloud to "reserve my space" or whatever, is it something I could do via my iPhone or even on a newer computer at the Apple Store?
Basically, can I keep doing what I'm doing, postpone a Lion upgrade for now and ignore the move to iCloud, or will I break the internet?

Yes - deselect them before you sync.
I'm assuming that you auto sync so if you do sync that way - go ahead and sync your iPad again. But don't disconnect the iPad yet. After the sync completes - click on the iPad name on the left side of iTunes - then click on the apps tab on the right. Uncheck all of the iPhones apps under the list of apps to deselect them. When you have all of those apps deselected - click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes. This will remove them from the iPad and iTunes will remember this the next time that you sync.

The point is that there are four i product users for one computer in my house, and not everyone wants the same music on their device. Like I said before, the ipod is not syncing to the new library even though I plug it in when the new itunes library is pulled up. It keeps syncing to the old library...

I'm backing up my iPhone 4S to iTunes (and not to iCloud).
I haven'tyet needed to restore the backup to my existing phone or a new phone.
Is there a way to check in iTunes whether my Contacts are stored there?
Also, occasionally, after a backup, I am unable to locate some names/information in my iPhone Contact list.
Is there a way to prevent this?

If you want to free up your memory, maybe first checking to see if you got duplicates. -
From the File menu in iTunes, choose Show Duplicates. iTunes will then list all of the duplicate titles in your library.
If you delete a music in the iTunes folder, then when you try to play that particular music in your iTunes, it won't work as iTunes wouldn't be able to find it. However, when you import music on to your computer, always import straight into your iTunes, no where else.

What sort of info do you want to get off the phone ? If it's iTunes purchases then you should be able to copy them to your computer's iTunes via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases

Syncing a device with your computer's iTunes will copy content to the phone from your computer, it won't copy things back from the phone.

Trying to sync iPhone 4 with itunes and get an error message PLEASE help

I am currently using and iPhone 4. This morning I had synced my iPhone with itunes and it was working fine. I came home and wanted to add some music and such to it and all of a sudden i will plug it in to itunes and i,t looks like its going gets to step 2 of 6 (which is the back up process) and then an error message comes up saying itunes has stopped working, my only option to do is exit the window..
Any ideas why this would be the case? its really frustrating me. I am also not the most computer savvy.

Try reinstalling iTunes http://www.apple.com/itunes/
If that doesn't help, if you are using a Windows based computer, could be your anti virus software or your firewall that's preventing the sync.

Only Syncing parts of tv series and not the whole thing?

I have had Apple Tv for a while now but all of a sudden im starting to get problems.
When i want to sync the whole series of a tv show, it syncs most of the shows but not all of them and in no certain order, for example:
Episodes 1,2,3,6,12,14,18,20 are NOT there but the rest of them are.
I only tick the box for the tv shows that i want to sync to Apple TV in iTunes, that is how i bring them into Apple TV. Is this correct or should i be doing it another way?
What could be the reason it is leaving out episodes ive tried everything i can think of. Ive restarted ATV and carried out a factory reset on ATV i have now just synced to ATV again and the same thing keeps happening but this time it has less episodes than before.
I have plenty of room on the ATV hard drive so i know its not the HD filling up.

Couple of questions for you.
Wifi or ethernet.
Is it the same shows that don't sync every-time.
Are you trying to watch while syncing.
Are you syncing all unwatched episodes or all episodes.
Can you watch the episodes that don't sync by streaming.
Are these purchased shows.
I wouldn't be worried that they don't sync in episode order.

yes, me too. I went to play my stuff tonight - and blam, Apple TV icon is not there. Nothing I do brings it back. Reset everything - turn it all off and on. Nada. This is really annoying.

Has Apple fixed the problem with Notes and Reminders yet ? When I last researched the subject both applications (1) could only be synchronized via iCloud and (2) even that wasn't working well for most users.
Is there an update or a way to sync Notes and Reminders via iTunes without the use of the Internet (iCloud, Gmail or any other Internet-based service) ?

This doesn't help you, but I just recently started having the same problem, I just upgraded my 3G to 4.0 in iTunes so I don't know if that has anything to do with it but nothing on my phones calendar will sync to iCal. Events in iCal sync to the computer just fine thought. I hope someone can help me figure this out!

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Open  > About this Mac, and see Version. If it's 10.6 or earlier, you don't have the Mac OS X version that supports iCloud. You have to upgrade to OS X Lion (OS X 10.7) or Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8) to get iCloud on your computer.
First, if your version is 10.6, open  > Software Update and install the most recent version. Then, check if your Mac is supported > http://www.apple.com/osx/specs
If your Mac is compatible, make a backup of your data, open App Store and purchase Mountain Lion. Follow the steps to upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion, and after upgrading, open System Preferences > iCloud, and follow the steps to set up iCloud on the iMac.
If your version is 10.5 or earlier, you have to upgrade first to Snow Leopard

If you have a good set of contacts anywhere get them backed up. Then I would suggest getting contacts synced to computer. Go to yahoo to look at contacts there then follow this link to sync to computer. From there you can easily sync contacts to your phone from computer.
There seems to be a problem with yahoo contacts syncing with newer iOS. So avoid missing contacts in the future by having copies on your computer and syncing with iCloud possibly.
Here's a link for getting contacts from Yahoo to computer. If your contacts are on your phone sync and back up to iCloud first.

Synced iPhone w/ new MAC and not working

I synced my iPhone with my new Mac about a week ago when I first bought the MacBook, I'm a first time Mac user. I bought a song on iTunes today and wanted to transfer it onto my iPhone, but it's not letting me transfer, am I doing something wrong? Any help would be great, thanks!

I have updated the latest software on my iPhone 4s and now I can no longer open up the iPhone settings from iTunes and certain apps no longer work on the phone itself.

Anyone else have this problem?

OMG I just upgraded as well and only my apple pre-installed apps work anything I downloaded wont open. This is a mess. I tried resetting and rebooting and nothing.
