Note: I notice that the MEM LED at light path diagnostics panel components is lit. I check at cisco documentation, it indicate memory error. is it confirmed appliance issue?
    Please advice. Thank you

Thank you for the reply. sorry for late update.
    1. I try to reseat the memory card, MEM LED from diagnostic panel is not lit anymore. I think it solve the memory problem initially.
    2. I use the following command to refresh the database
    NCS stop
    NCS DB reinitdb
    NCS start
After reinitdb, I can login to prime infrastructure. it seems like the system is working fine. All of the configuration is gone. So, I proceed to restore the configuration.
    3. Restore configuration
When I try to restore my configuration, I have the following error.

  • Ask the Expert: One Management with Prime Infrastructure 1.2

    With Tejas Shah
Welcome to the Cisco Support Community Ask the Expert conversation. This is an opportunity to learn and ask questions from Cisco expert Tejas Shah on One Management with Prime Infrastructure 1.2 Combining the wireless functionality of Cisco Prime Network Control System (NCS) with the wired functionality of Cisco Prime LAN Management Solution (LMS),  Cisco Prime Infrastructure simplifies and automates many of the day-to-day tasks associated with maintaining and managing the end-to-end network infrastructure from a single pane of glass. The new converged solution delivers all of the existing wireless capabilities for RF management, user access visibility, reporting, and troubleshooting along with wired lifecycle functions such as discovery, inventory, configuration and image management, automated deployment, compliance reporting, integrated best practices, and reporting.

Raun, please see my responses inline:
Can you go over the licensing method with Prime Infrastructure 1.2 please?
Raun, you can check out the following link for ordering guide at
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps12239/products_data_sheets_list.html
I currently have NCS and do NOT currently have LMS.  I know I can move to Prime Infrastructure through Cisco Product Upgrade Tool.  However, what I am confused about is do I still have to buy LMS to have LMS functionality in Prime Infrastructure 1.2?
==> Not at all.  The converged product will give you basic management capability for routers and switches that LMS provided in this release.   Feature/Functionality will keep on growing with upcoming releases.
If not, do the licenses I transfer into Prime Infrastructure 1.2 from NCS also work for devices to work under LMS?
==> Licensing is different than NCS or LMS.  You don't have to transfer the license.  Each install of Prime Infrastructure will have a unique UID string on which the licenses are based.  A new license will be applied to the product.
Mean, can my currently 350 licenses be used for AP's as in NCS and routers in the LMS portion of Prime Infrastructure 1.2?
==> I would recommend getting a total count of your wired and wireless devices and match the right SKU based on that.
Hope this helps.. Let me know if you have any further questions,
    Tejas

  • Cisco prime infrastructure 1.1 issue

    hi:
i purchase a R-PI-1.1-K9 with  R-PI-1.1-100-K9,but now i find the cisco website can't download Prime infrastructure 1.1 anywhare, only 1.2 and above version exist.but the device base licences(R-PI-1.1-100-K9) is  based RI version 1.1.how do we resolve this issue.somebody tell me that R-PI-1.1-100-K9 can use in prime infrastructure 1.2 ,anyone can help me and tell me how to use it and give me the step by step guide, thanks very well.
    jerry

A 1.1 license file should work with PI 1.2. See the note at the bottom of Table 3 here.
Hopefully your product was ordered with Software ApplicationSupport with Upgrade (SASU) option. That will further entitle you to upgrade to PI 1.3 and, soon, to PI 2.0. Each release ins incrementally more functional and many bug fixes are incorporated.

  • Installing Prime Infrastructure

    Hi All,
I have a question about the installation of prime infrastructure.
We have ordered prime infrastructure 1.1, after ordering we received 3 PAK codes. The goal is to install the LMS 4.2.
    - L-PILMS42-100 Prime Infrastructure LMS 4.2 - 100 Device Base Lic
    - L-PINCS11-100 Prime Infrastructure NCS 1.1 - 100 Device Base Lic
    - L-PINCSW11-100 Prime Infrastructure NCS WAN 1.1 - 100 Device Base Lic
If I'm not mistaken, we can install all 3 applications, but not on the same machine? Is that correct? And how do you choose to install LMS or NCS?
When deploying the OVA file? Where can you choose to use LMS or NCS?
Or is it the same OVA file for each application and does it unlock features depending on which license file you enter in the web interface?
    Thanks,
    Best Regards,
    Joris

Prime Infrastructure NCS 1.1 dropped the NCS name when they moved to version 1.2 (and now at 1.3). That's the second item in your original post. The 1.1 license will still be good when you upgrade to 1.3. In fact, if it's a brand new installation, you might as well start with 1.3. You can download the image from www.cisco.com/go/nmsevals and apply your 1.1 license.
Prime LMS as noted above uses its own separate license and runs on its own separate server / VM.
There's no proper product name "Prime Infrastructure LMS" though some docs may mistakenly call it that. "Cisco Prime" is the new sweeping name for a set of complimentary products developed around a loosely common architecture and look and feel. It includes Prime Infrastructure (PI), Prime LMS, Prime Security Manager (PRSM), etc.
Prime Infrastructure NCS WAN 1.1 was a one timeproduct release designed for custoemrs with some specific needs for wired infrastructure management and without having LMS. It wil not be developed further and if you have LMS there's no need to install and operate the PI NCS WAN product.

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.0 sync config tasks

    Hi,
I'd like to know few things about PI 2.0 config handling:
    1. Can PI save running config to startup config on a scheduled basis? Let's say once a week on all devices.
    2. Can PI save running config to startup config whatsoever?
    3. Can PI download running config when it receives a config trap from device when user enters/exits config mode?
    4. Can PI export running and startup configs to a external location?
    Thanks!

    Hi ,
    1.
*Scheduled-You can schedule when Prime Infrastructure collects the configurations of
selected devices and specify recurring collections by selecting Operate > Configuration
    Archives, then clicking Schedule Archive.
    like  minute ..daily etc...
    3. ASAI K ,this feature work on the bases of syslogs .. we do not have complete support in PI 2.0 yet so I think bases on config chnage syslogs or traps ,config will not be fetched.
    4. for tihs check the below thread:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3975460#3975460
    Thanks-

  • Prime Infrastructure dashlet sort order

In WCS you could sort ascending and descending in the AP Uptime and CAPWAP Uptime dashlets.
In Prime Infrastructure you cant change the sort order, it is always descending. I think it is much more useful to see which AP that has rebooted last than to see wich one that has the longest uptime.
Anyone who knows if it is possible to change this?
( I know that I can create reports of AP Uptime that can be sorted ascending, but I want it on a dashlet )

    Hi Shantha,
Thanks again for your support. I really appreciate it.
I kindly need your help again.
I am having issues with cisco prime device:
I can't connect to it via the web management interface
It takes several attempts to boot the device... most cases it hangs in the initial stages of booting. At times it is able to boot into console mode.

  • Migrate from WCS 7.0 to Prime Infrastructure 1.2

    Hi All,
I am looking for advice on the licensing and upgrade path for going from WCS 7.0 to PI 1.2.
At present I have a WCS licensed for 200 APs which is  managing one controller and 150 APs.
I intend to use the Cisco Prime Upgrade Promotion
to order R-W-PI12-M-K9 (WCS 7.0 to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 Migration)
and L-W-PI12-100-M and L-W-PI12-100-M to match the number of licenses on the WCS.
Once Prime is installed I also want to manage another 50 devices, does that mean I have to purchase the
Cisco PI 1.2 Base License and Software (R-PI12-Base-K9) and another 50 Lifecycle licenses, or will
my existing 200 licenses from the upgrade suffice.
Sorry if it's confusing, but I didn't invent the licensing structure just trying to make sense of it all.
    TIA

You'll be able to manage up to 200 devices/APs simpy using the upgrade from WCS to PI 1.2 as you described it. No need to order another base license or 50 lifecycle licenses.

  • WCS and LMS to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3 Upgrade

    Hello,
Our customer is currently having WCS for 500 devices and LMS 3.2 for 1500 devices. We are planning to upgrade to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3.
I want to check is the upgrade procedure that we have planned is ok or we have missed something.
Phase 1: WCS to CPI 1.3 upgrade
    1. Check that WCS is at 7.0.230.0  version
    2. Export WCS database
    3. Install NCS 1.1.1.24 software
    4. Contact cisco to obtain trial license for NCS software (L-WCS-NCS1-M-K9 license).
    5. Migrate WCS license and import it in NCS software
    6. Migrate WCS data to NCS software using ncs migrate command
    7. Patch NCS software
    8. Inline upgrade to CPI 1.3 software
    9. Install proper licenses on CPI 1.3 (WCS and LMS device count)
My concern in this first phase is should I use NCS large image since our Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3 software should manage 2000 devices at the end.
Or is it better not to perform inline upgrade and insted go with exporting data from NCS and then importing them to CPI 1.3 that is going to be installed separately?
Phase 2: LMS 3.2 to CPI upgrade
    1. Export LMS 3.2 database
    2. Install LMS 4.2 software
    3. Install license to LMS 4.2
    4. Restore data from LMS 3.2 to LMS 4.2
    5. Direct upgrade from LMS 4.2 to 4.2.2
    6. Export the device list with credentials from LMS 4.2.2  and import it as a Bulk Import in CPI 1.3
At the end we will have CPI 1.3 and LMS 4.2.2 software running.
Is it possible to directly upgrade from LMS 4.2 to LMS 4.2.4 and then import data to CPI 1.3 or we need to go with 4.2.2 version?
    Regards,
    Jelena

Are this errors going to affect our LMS 4.2 operations?
Then we have upgraded to LMS 4.2.2 and exported data and credentiales for PI import.
On PI 1.3 we have installed WCS 500 devices upgrade license and LMS 1500 upgrade license and now we are having 2000 devices lifecycle license. We have successfully restored WCS data in PI and we have imported LMS devices as bulk import. What is strange is that we have this message in prime regarding licensing:
On LMS 3.2 our customer had saved unlimited number of configuration versioning. After upgrading to LMS 4.2 we can only see last 3 configurations regardless of unlimided number of configurations in previous LMS, so my question is where can we find older configurations in LMS 4.2?
We are planning to turn unlimited versioning on CPI 1.3 now, so our customer will again have feature that they need. Do you have some experiance regarding disk space when all device configurations are stored forever?
    Thank you for your help.

    Jelena

  • WCS to prime infrastructure 1.2

    Hello,
I need to know how to do the upgrade from WCS 7.0 to Prime Infrastructure 1.2.
I was reading and i need to upgrade to the NCS 1.1 before to go to prime infrastructure 1.2.
I will need license to NCS 1.1 before upgrade to infraesctructure 1.2 ?
Will i have some problem with this upgrade ?
Can someone pass me the correct process for not have any problem with this upgrade ?
    Thank You.

    Just to add...
Leo like to tease people with new stuff
That is the correct path though. You will have to be first on 7.0.220.0 if your planning on exporting and importing the day from WCS to NCS 1.1. From there you will upgrade to Prime 1.2 and then you can upgrade to Prime 2.0 whenever it comes out. I would build the NCS server with the specs for Prime though.
Just follow the configuration guide for WCS to NCS and then follow this for NCS to Prime

  • Can i install Cisco prime infrastructure 1.3 with 1.1 license.

Can i install Cisco prime infrastructure 1.3 with 1.1 license. To be more precise it will be fresh installation
but the licenses I have is of 1.1.As per my overview from Cisco prime Infrastructure 1.2 NCS and NCS(WAN)
has been bundled into one service. But both were seperate entities in Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.1.

It doesn't matter if you want to make a new installation or an upgrade. The questions is the license.
The base license is necessary for network management nodes (devices). But to get updates for your system you need the additional to your Base License the Lifecycle License (which can be ordered for 12, 24 or 36 months).
The Lifycycle License is also based on the number of managed devices. In your case 50 devices. So you have that License - congratulations!
Otherwise order the Lifecycle License for 50 devices (L-N-PI12-50-M). This generates CON-PSUU-PI12LF50 for 12 months, list price 414,81$. Then Upgrade from 1.1 to 1.2, patch the system and upgrade to 1.3.
    Have fun,
    Chris

  • Difference between cisco prime infrastructure and cisco WCS

Can you explain me difference between cisco prime infrastructure and cisco WCS.. I'm little bit confuse...
    Thanks..

    Hi Hasan,
In terms of features...You can say PI is more advanced version of WCS and NCS. All the stuff possible in WCS/NCS can be done on PI as well.
But from the architecture perspective , there are differences. If I remember correctly , WCS is based on 32 bit OS while NCS and PI based on 64 bit OS. For the same reason you cannot do inline upgrade from WCS to PI via any path and will have to change the platform/Hardware itself before moving to PI. However , inline upgrade from NCS to PI is possible if we follow the correct path.

This is by no means a full solution, but deleting and re-adding only takes a few minutes if you use the "Export Device" and "Bulk Import" features from the Device Work Center. You can export the desired devices to a CSV file, delete them, then import from the CSV.
Of course, you might lose historical data when deleting the devices, but I'm guessing that's not as relevant since the devices themselves have been replaced by different hardware.
