Can I organise Web Galleries into folders?

I keep my photos organised in folders. Can I do the same with the web galleries?
I have a long list of Web Galleries in the sidebar of iPhoto and it's tedios scrolling down a long way to find the one I want to edit. I tried creating a folder but it only appears in the photos section.

No, only the albums you used to create the web galleries (that is if you first put the photos in albums before creating the gallery).
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

How can i move several emails into folders in ipad?

You can sort by using the search feature. When you are in your mail account you use the search bar at the top to find emails from a particular sender (there are Other options as well in search). Type in that sender's address. When the emails show up in the window on the left side, select all of the emails that you want to move. Tap Edit at the bottom and the Move Folder icon will appear. Tap that icon and select the folder that you want to move the emails into.
To move multiple emails without using the search to sort, go to your inbox and tap Edit. Then select all of the emails that you want to move. After you are done selecting them, tap the Move icon at the bottom on the left side of the account window. When you tap move, you get a choice of folder into which you can place the selected emails.

How can I sort my iMessages into folders?
I have always been able to sort my text messages in this way on other phones but cannot see any way of doing it on my iPhone.
I really need this facility as I use my phone for a number of different projects and need to be able to keep project message streams together in one place.

You don't, as this is not a feature of the iPhone messages app.

  • How do i organise my files into folders in iCloud. If i can't this clearly isn't a replacement for MM and idisk

    Hey
Does anyone know the deal with the documents in icloud. I used to have many different folders with documents in idisk. I need to seperate my files into folders. How can this replace i disk????

I agree - my early days with iCloud are disappointing, particularly since it seems to (extraordinarily) have fewer mail rules than the Mac.
For file sharing I have gone along a different route.  Have a look at http://www.evernote.com/  I share any information I might want to see or use on my iPad and iPhone when away from my Mac on Evernote - tax forms, essential documents, pdf files, recipes...  I have put them on the evernote 'cloud' (though you could choose to have copies on your devices) and can use Pages, Numbers, pdf readers etc.  Basically you can put pretty well anything into a 'note' and store your notes in 'notebooks'.
I am as pleased with Evernote as I am not with iCloud. It is so sad, I have used Apple kit since 1985.  I still love it and wouldn't dream of buying a Windows machine, but I feel that the software development guys are losing touch with those of us who don't just want to surf the web and take photos.
ps It took me a day or two to grasp the structural concepts of Evernote.  Well worth perservering.

  • Indexing web pages into folders

i have about 50 web pages created. i'm trying to put them into folders so that i don't have such a long list. for instance i have a novel with 35 chapters. i'm trying to put all the chapters into a folder called novel. how do i do that?

One of the easiest ways to handle a large site is to build it as several smaller sites each with their own domain.sites2 file. You can handle these by using iWebsites or having them in separate folders.
They are all linked to a Master page which has links to each sub site.
When you publish a sub site - say the one with the novel - you will get a folder called called Novel_files and an index.html file. Change the name of the index to Novel.html.
The Master page will be published as Master_files and index.html. Leave this as it is.
Once you have all the folders for the sub sites and their corresponding html files, you can drop them all into the Master_files folder.
Now you can FTP the index.html and Master_files to your server.
If you are publishing to .Mac you will drop them into your iDisk by going to Finder/Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites.
Obviously, you will substitute the domain name of your website word for the word "Master" and the URL for a sub site will be..

  • Can Bridge sort my images into folders based on an Exif date?

All my Adobe products are pre-CS/CS2 and I don't yet have access to Adobe Bridge. My trial copy has also timed out. However, I would like to know if Bridge has the capability to take a folder of images (Canon Raw) and move them to new folders based on the original exposure date as stored in the Exif metadata (ideally creating the required target folders automatically). I'm thinking in terms of one folder per year, probably with subfolders for each month.
I'm simply trying to avoid having all my images in a single humongous folder with Bridge re-creating (or at least re-displaying) thousands of thumbnails every time I just want to look at a few images. Sorting them into folders by date just seems a simple solution to that problem. However, I'd be very happy to hear about alternative image filing ideas.
Once I have used Bridge to create extended metadata for image categories, etc, I'm also assuming that Bridge will let me search for images that match defined criteria no matter how many folders those images are stored in.

I don't know of any functionality to do that in Bridge now; however, it certainly can be done via scripting.
Perhaps one of our forum contributors might want to take on a "picture sorter" script...

  • I have transferred some photos from an sd card using an apple adaptor to my iPad then I did a sync in iTunes. How do I now organise the photos into folders?

I would really appreciate some help with this.

At the moment you can't move photos between albums directly on the iPad, though with iOS 5 in the Autumn (from http://www.apple.com/ios/ios5/features.html#photos) :
Even organize your photos in albums — right on your device.
Until then you need to organise the photos in folders on your computer and then sync those folders to the iPad - and you need to sync all the folders (and therefore albums) that you want on the iPad together in one go, as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad; not including photos in a sync is how you delete them from the iPad.

  • Can't see web galleries in iweb

I've published multiple .mac web galleries but don't see any of them listed in the widget list in iweb. What am I missing, do I have to do something special to see them?
What's the best way to include my web galleries if I have a ton of them I want to list on my website?

It may not be a bug but a feature to not display any photos that are acutally in the gallery when announcing a protected gallery. I don't know. But you can report by using the iWeb->Provide iWeb Feedback menu option in iWeb.
If the gallery is password protected but your want a photo from the gallery to be in the link, add a small photo to the page, size it to a reasonable size and then link it to the web gallery. When visitors click on the photo link they will be taken to the gallery and have to put in a name and password before they can access it. You can email that info to them in a separate email.

  • Can you create web galleries in CS4?

I noticed the feature to create a web gallery from a folder of images is no longer in the same menu dropdown. Is this feature still available in CS4? If so, where do I go to find it.
IF NOT, is their another way to create automated web galleries?
    Thanks for your help.
    -Jason

Yes within Bridge buried in the Workspace dialog box area.
Bridge now does galleries similar to the way Lightroom can create web galleries.
Lightroom does an excellent job of this.
This is a simple html version but you can generate Flash galleries as well:

  • Export ever get a fix? Can Bridge make web galleries?

Did export panel ever get fixed for CS5? I currently use LR for web galleries. Was curious if Bridge can make web galleries.

Funny that Bridge does not have the beautiful web gallery choices that LR has.
It's not funny.  ;-)  I tried long and hard to push for parity.
I know tons of people use LR for many things. I only use it presently for it amazing web gallery making!
(everything else, I'm a PS and Bridge guy)
Yup, me, too.  The output aspects of Bridge (Web and PDF) still need serious work.  I've submitted a long list of requests. It's frustrating to have to use multiple major apps from the same company because of a gross deficiency in one - especially when that app is the "parent app," so to speak.  Maybe in CS6...

  • Sisebar, bookmarks- can't drop web sites into sidebar. If I close sidebar/bookmarks it will let me some times

Bookmarks Sidebar. Stalls and I cannot drop web sights into it to bookmark. Sometimes it works, or at best it takes a long time to function. I can right click to bookmark, but that is clunky compared to dragging into side bar.
Also, 16.0.2 FF just seems to stall or run slow.
Firefox 16.0.2. MAC Snow Leopard, 16 g RAM

Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox Profile Folder.

  • HT1535 Once I have songs in mt ipod, How can I separate the songs into folders?

Once I have songs in my IPod, how can I separate them into folders such as favorites, etc.?

That sort of thing is best done in iTunes. And by "folders", I assume you mean Playlists.
In iTunes, you can create Playlists and then sync those to your iPod. The music will still be listed by artist, album etc,. but if you go into the Playlists menu, you will see the songs grouped by Playlists, according to your choices.
As you mentioned favourites; on your iPod you can give a song a star rating, from one to five stars. It's possible to create a Smart Playlist in iTunes which will automatically add (for example) three, four and five star rated songs to a Playlist, but not the songs with no rating or just one or two stars.
So if you were listening to a song and decided there and then to give it a four-star rating, then at the next Sync with your iTunes Library, that song would be added to your Smart Playlist which is then also included on the iPod. (In theory, it should go into that Playlist on your iPod without connecting to your iTunes Library, but that doesn't always work.)

  • Lightroom 1.4.1 Web Galleries into iWeb08

I currently have Lightroom 1.4.1. I have tried all in these discussions to try and load a LR web gallery into iWeb08. This is the gallery I am using.
    http://theturninggate.net/lightroom/ttg-shadowbox-gallery
I exported the gallery to iDisk/Web/Sites/kirkhoward. Once it finished I looked at where it place the folder (gallery). It shows up in the right spot, but I cannot view it in iWeb. Am I not supposed to see this within the program? Am I only going to see it if I load it in the URL manually?

If so How do I get it into the menu page i.e. Welcome Photos Bolg. I would like visitors to navigate to the gallery from the index.html or Welcome page

  • Why can't we organize apps into folders within iTunes?

The best way to arrange apps on the iPhone and maintain and keep track of apps would be to allow us to organize the apps into folders within the "Apps" section on iTunes, not from the device itself or from the clunky window of the device when it's connected via USB.
Come on apple, allow us to organize Apps!

Drop a line to iTunes Feedback.
