Can I organize apps on ipod touch by genre using itunes

After the recent upgrade in the operating system, my apps are dissorganized.  Can I orgnaize them by genre (as displayed in iTunes when "genre" is selected?  This would save a lot of time.

Try resetting the iPod. Nothing will be lost,.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • ITunes can't find apps on iPod Touch and doesn't sync album artwork

    Ugh.  Here I go again.
I have an iPod Touch (4th gen), 2010 MacBook Pro, all the latest operating systems and updates.
My iPod Touch crashed a bit and so I wanted to sync it again (using the USB cable, not wirelessly).
    (1) Suddenly, there was no music on the iPod Touch.  I managed to get that fixed.
    (2) After a couple of syncs, I was repeatedly getting the message that the iPod Touch apps "could not be synced because the apps could not be determined."  A couple of plugging and unpluggings allowed iTunes to "find" the apps, but this is weird.
    (3) And now, what's bugging me -- and this happened a year or so ago -- very little of the album artwork synced over to the iPod Touch.  I have 600-800 albums.  All of the artwork is correct on iTunes.  About 10% of the artwork transferred over to the iPod Touch.  (Then I synced my iPad, and all the artwork is correct on the iPad.)
If I remember correctly from last year, eventually -- after many successive syncs -- the album artwork made its way correctly over to the iPod Touch, and maybe I'll hope for that this time.
Does anyone have a more direct solution?  Checking and unchecking some boxes on some syncs?  (It takes a good chunk of time to sync over my music, so I don't really have to time to delete and sync repeatedly just as shots in the dark.
Any ideas?  All thoughts welcome. Thank you!

Taking off all the music and then putting it back on took care of the album art, but I'm still getting all kinds of funky behavior -- iTunes can't find the apps, then it can't find the iPod altogether, and it's adding duplicate songs somewhere.  It said it was going to load 3,232 songs, but I ended up with more than 3,400.  Weird.

  • Can't install apps on iPod touch I had before it went to recovery mode

I have had an iPod touch 2g for about two years now, when I got it I could download any free app, like netflix facebook etc, suddendly it went into recovery mode and now I can't install any of those apps because the ios is too old, what now?

Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

  • Can't sync app to ipod touch 4th gen

I purchased the Home Run Battle 2 app for my ipad, ipod touch and iphone. The app will sync to all devices except to the ipod touch (4th gen). I tried this using my iMac through iTunes. Then, I also tried to get it from the ipod touch by searching for it in the app store and installing, but when I touch the OPEN button, nothing happens. I also tried dragging the app to the device while in iTunes and it won't take. Any suggestions?

So if you go into the app store, on your ipod, and go to the app's page, does it gives you the option to "open" or ?  You kind of lost me with "go to the app store to get it".  I thought you had gone there before and it said open?
If you go into settings >> general >> usage, is the app listed there?  If it is, click the app, then click delete app.  Then go back into the app store on the ipod and try to redownload it from the app store.
You could also try to search for the app on your ipod, if you can't find the icon, by swiping all the way to the left.
Also, how many pages do you have on your ipod?  I think it maxes out at 11.

The Apps icon does not appear in the ipod touch.  Also, apps does not appear under the list of categories that are in the ipod touch.  How do I get this working?

Receantly, I have not been able to install any apps on my Ipod touch 3rd gen. I put in my ID and password and the app shows downloding and then just disappears. I've checked restrictions and also reset and backed up the Ipod. I've tried several other solutions provided by the Apple Support Com., but nothing works. Any suggestions?

  • Arranging apps on ipod touch not possible with itunes 9?

I spent some time at work today arranging the order of my apps on my ipod touch and got everything layed out how I liked. Then I came home tonight and synced my ipod with itunes 9 and all my apps have been re-arranged to match the order they are within iTunes. I assumed when you sync it would look to see which had the most recent changes, ipod or itunes and then sync in the right direction. If itunes always re arranges the order of the apps what's the point of being able to arrange them on the ipod if the changes are going to get lost next time you sync?
My other question is that i've deleted a few applications from my ipod but they don't get deleted from itunes. Therefore i'm always having to remember what i've deleted in the day so I can delete them from itunes as well. Is there anyway to get the ipod and itunes to sync so that they contain the same apps and therefore not having to delete apps twice?
    Thanks

I rearranged my apps on my Touch and then synced it to iTunes to see what happened. When I ejected my Touch and checked my apps were still in the manner that I arranged them so the method you are having issues with works perfectly fine for me. Also, looking at the online manual about the syncing of apps it states:
+iTunes automatically syncs applications you’ve downloaded or purchased on iPod touch to your iTunes library when you connect iPod touch to your computer.+
+_This lets you access the downloads on your computer and provides a backup if you delete applications from iPod touch._+
Based on the underlined part it is my understanding that iTunes is not set up to delete the items from your library just because you deleted them from your Touch...it keeps the apps in the library as a backup until you delete it from iTunes so that's just the way it is. As for the apps arrangement issue...if you haven't already you may want to try reinstalling iTunes 9. Not sure if that would fix the issue or not though. And not sure if anyone else is having that issue since no one seems to be posting that they too have experienced the problem.

  • Can't connect brand new iPod touch 4th gen to iTunes, please help!

I just got a new iPod touch, 16 gig 4th generation. I'm going through the setup process. Once I get to the option to connect through a network, I hit a problem. My internet at home requires a MAC address to be "invited" into the network before I can connect, however I can't get the MAC address until I complete setup!
So I choose the "Connect to iTunes" option instead. My computer recognizes that there is an iPod connected to it, but iTunes won't pick it up. There is nothing under "Devices".
    What do I do?? ):

I just retried a step I missed earlier in the articles before and ran into a problem here:
#5 Verify that the apple mobile devi usb driver is installed
    > for windows 7
    > if the apple mobile device usb driver is not listed
    > if only Apple iPod appears
    > for windows 7
I went through all these steps until #8: Click OK in the "Install from Disk" dialog. At this point it tries to load for a bit and I get this message:
"Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device.
Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. (Apple Mobile Device USB Driver)
Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)"
As for your reply, I did indeed already try removing and reinstalling all the Apple programs with unfortunately no effect.
When I do the sync test, I get that one or more things failed: iTunes Helper not running and No iPod found.

  • Why can't I access my iPod touches pictures in my iTunes?

I know I cannot erase pictures from my iPod Touch on my iPod but when connect it to my PC and open iTunes, it doesn't give me the link to open the photos file. How can i fix this?

Photos on the iPod are stored just like a digital camera would be, and can be managed in all the same ways, including through the file explorer in windows.

  • Can't sync all events and albums from iphoto 08 to ipod touch 4th generation using itunes

Hi from San Juan! Just got my new ipod touch 4th generation, since my 2nd generation was stolen a couple of months ago, and when it finished its sync process, I noticed that out of my 16,000 + photos in iphoto, only 2,435 were synced. Tried again numerous times, changing options, ("selected albums and events", "all" etc,), but nothing worked. Ever since I've had my Mac, I've only used iphoto to download, organize and share my photo collection; same cameras also. With my previous ipod, the sync process ran smoothly, and always got ALL my albums and events under the "photos" icon of my ipod. What's happened? What's changed? I'll welcome suggestions and / or solutions. Thanks in advance. Sandra

  • HT1853 How do I reset my iPod touch 5th generation using itunes?

I have a worded password on my iPod touch but I made a typo when I typed it in and I can't access my iPod. Is there any way that I can delete everything and reset the whole iPod using itunes and not the settings because I can't get to the settings. It is the 5th generation iPod toich (newest model) and it is currently using ios 7.0.6 as I can't update it to ios 7.1 without knowing the password.

    Hello there, KatKid.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great steps for restoring your iPod touch:
iOS: Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
Alternatively, place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Can't transfer apps from iPod touch to iTunes on Pc

I can't seem to be able to copy my ipod apps into my iTunes account. I have made the purchases from my ipod, but I would also like to manage them from iTunes. Also, I have a problem with creating a new gamecenter account. It says i should select the country and 'tap next'. There is not 'next' button, tab or anything else to 'tap'. Any suggestion would be appreciated as long as it doesn't make me lose the apps i paid for. Thanks.

if worst comes to worse, you can always re-download purchased apps (free of charge) in iTunes. see _*How to redownload purchased apps from the App Store*_.
as for game centre, try if [this_|http://www.maclife.com/article/feature/complete_guide_game_centerios] helps.

  • Can 2 teachers share an ipod touch and put apps on it with two itune accounts

Can 2 teachers share an ipod touch and put apps on it with two itune accounts?

    Sure.  No problem.
Be aware that ALL purchases are permanently associated with whatever Apple ID was used to originally obtain them.  Apps can not be updated without knowledge of that ID and, more importantly, its password.  Apple IDs can not be merged and purchases can not be transferred from one ID to another.
Minor nuisance if you choose to update apps from inside the computer's iTunes.  If you're logged into the "wrong" account, it's necessary to log out/in to do the update.  It's easier if you update from the iPod itself.  No need to log out/in but you do need to know the password for the ID.
