Can I Overclocking MSI B85M-G43

Can I Overclocking MSI B85M-G43 with Intel Pentium G3258? I'm A Starter....

You should be able to, with BIOS v3.7 or maybe later though there is no mention of it on support page.

  • MSI B85M-G43 can't install Windows 7. Hard disk not detected.

    Hi,
I just built a new computer for the first time.  I followed the instructions and did everything correctly. but am unable to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. Hard disk isn't always detected during the installation.
But when it appeared in the "Where do you want to install Windows" list along with system, I tried to format the hard disk and got a message "Failed to format the select partition. [Error 0x80070057]."
Then I restarted the computer, the hard disk no longer displayed in the list, so I put motherboard driver disc and clicked on Load Driver and opened Storage\Intel\PCH_12.0\f6flpy-x64. It loaded, then I got a message saying "To continue installation, use the Load Driver option to install 32-bit and signed 64-bit drivers. Installing an unsigned 64-bit device driver is not supported and might result in an unusable Windows installation."
I restarted again and disabled Driver Signature Enforcement, but it didn't help. I still got the same message.
In the computer case I have these devices:
    - MSI B85M-G43, Socket-1150
    - Intel Core i5-4430 Processor
    - Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz 8GB
    - MSI GeForce GTX 650Ti BOOST 1GB
    - Cooler Master GX 550W PSU
    - WD Desktop Green 1TB
    - SuperMulti 16X DVD(+/-)R/RW 12X RAM (+/-)R DL LightScribe SATA drive
Everything is plugged in correctly. Hard disk connector plugged in SATA 1 and DVD -> SATA 2.
The installation is pretty slow, regardless if i install it via USB or x16 DVD. All except DVD and hard disk are disabled. It's also worth to mention that even DVD and USB aren't always detected in the click BIOS.
So I'm wondering if anyone here can help me? Thanks

    Hi and
1: What BIOS version you have? .. Have you tryed to downgrade/upgrade it already?
2: Have you tryed it in those SATA 2 ports? ...is it same strory?
    - On SATA there aint any master or Slave like on IDE so if you are under same controller it dosent mutter what port you use on what device.
Note: SATA 3 Ports are faster then SATA2 ports, but even SATA 1 can handel your DVD or HDD. So no lose if you need to use SATA 2 ports.
Hope this get you foward! Cheers Mummy

  • MSI B85M-G43 could not detect Gigabyte R929OC 4GB 3X Windforce

I recently build a new PC a month ago and have been using it for 3 weeks then random black screens problem started to occur.
It started right around the time after I updated to catalyst 14.4 w/o the beta. At the same time i noticed windows update has updated some files which i did not note down what it was. Also Noticed that startup list had some new programs running.
I proceeded to disable the programs in startup, undo the latest windows update and finally reinstalled windows 8.1
Nothin works and I am left with black screen, which i realised that to be actually the mobo not detecting the card once i got a vga screen plugged in to mobo onboard graphics and went to BIOs to see.
Previously my BIOs were updated to latest through the liveupdate 5 program, which itself updated to liveupdate 6. For some reason I dont like programmes sitting at the back constantly checking for updates, so after updating those, I deleted all those programs. The updates also took forever to download, I figured i will download/install individually in future. Now that I do a search there is no live update 6?
Just to make sure, I have reflashed the BIOs to E7823IMS v3.6 again through the m-flash inside BIOs, but did not choose the BIOs + ME option as i dont know what it is. After reboot, BIOs version remained there, checked for ME and there's the version number 9.0.21.1462.
    BIOs version:  E7823IMS v3.6
    ME version: 9.0.21.1462
Prior to the Win8.1 reinstall, my OS was sitting on my SSD in non UEFI mode, I chose to install in non-uefi as i dont know what it was then. When i tried to reinstall, somehow the boot priority identified the SSD as UEFI first, so i wanted to give it a try and proceeded to install win8.1 in UEFI until reboot failed. Then I decided to installed my win8.1 on my HD in non UEFI instead. The system, as usual, works using the integrated graphics and mobo could not detect the graphics card in the only PCIe 3.0 x16 slot. Should I plug it into the PCIe 2.0 x16 slot and try, It never occur to me until now as I thought that was the only slot my graphics card could use.
    Please help
    Here are my specs:
    MSI B85M-G43
    Intel i7-4770 3.4GHz
    G.Skill Ripjaw 1600MHz (2 x 8)MB Blue
    SSD Samsung Evolution 240GB
    WD 1TB Blue
    Gigabyte R929OC 4GB 3X Windforce
    LG 24x DVD Writer
    Corsair Carbide Air 540 Case
SeaSonic G-750 80+ GOLD Power Supply
    ASUS PCE-N53 PCI-E Adapter
    Windows 8.1 OEM
Qnix QX2710 Evolution II 27" matte PLS monitor (uses dual-DVI-D connector only)

try to update your bios again but use the BIOS + ME option as it will flash not only your bios but Intel ME at the same time.
Note: Don't remove your USB during bios flash as the system will restart for I think around 2 times and plugging out USB might kill the MB bios.
Did you modify any settings in the bios setup??
If updating bios not can't work, try to plug your card to second PCIE slot and see if it could boot or not.

I know that no card is the same that's not the issue and like i said this card is a great card.
But can you tell me than why is it that when i looked at reviews they get 150+ on the clock and mem +600 when people who bought this card only manage to get in between +20 to +50? they did not use the aux voltage.
Quote from: flobelix on 10-March-13, 21:40:22
Overclocking is a matter of the individual sample. Some cards of the same model might clock great while others won't.
    Quote from: hurricane28
I heard that the first cards would be able to put more volts but the later cards having volt locks because its high potential?
If so could i get the older bios versions of that card or get another bios on my card?
It just don't seen fair that the first cards could overclock way better than the latest cards.
and it is not that some cards are better ans some are not because this is my second card i get because i was thinking it was broken because of my problems.
Nvidia forced all card manufactures including MSI to remove GPU overvoltage above 1.175v. It has nothing to do with potential but Nvidia dictating to stop overvoltage. MSI is therefor not allowed to offer unlocked versions. Again overclocking is a matter of the individual sample and your 660ti PE is already higher clocked by default than most other manufacturer cards could do with manual oc.

  • MSI b85m g43 questions

i was supposed to buy the model mentioned above a few weeks ago but had a few problems ...now im planning to buy it and have a few questions after reading customer reviews-
1.does the board support this memory-Corsair DDR3 4 GB(1 x 4GB) PC RAM (CMV4GX3M1A1600C11)?also, if i install one of these now and another(same one)later will they work together properly?
2.i saw that the msi gtx 750 2gb oc edition(i have this one) is not  in the MB's vga support list...is it really not supported?
3.i have a seagate barracuda 5400 rpm attached to my current ms 7525 mobo....will the hard drive be compatible with a newer SATA 6 gbps?
4..does it have a slot for a dvd writer(which is already inside the case) connection?
    Thanks for the help

got it...another thing-i have a retail win 7 ultimate...i know ill have to install windows again but can i custom install it to a partition without having to delete the rest of my files?or do i have to format the whole disk?
Upgrading from Windows XP (probably Windows 7 Home etc.) should also be possible
Depend on what you had before, you may not need to format the whole disk but you will at least need to delete the windows directory an Programs/Programs(x86) (somehow, this cannot be done from windows).

  • Can I OC on a MSI H77MA-G43?

HI, i have a question about this board
I won it and now im curious is it possible to OC on it at all?
I've seen a lot of people claiming its not possible on H77 motherboard or only up to turbo multi level, is that true?
Also why does MSI promote 36% OC on this mobo, does it work or not, im planing to go I7 3770K and hopefully OC to ~ 4.5ghz.
    Quote
OC Genie II provides an instant performance boost, optimizing CPU, memory, integrated graphics, and storage device performance with the function enabled.
    Benefits:
    - Overclock in one second
    - At least 36% boost in 3D gaming performance
    - Simple and easy – No need for complex BIOS setting and extra equipment
    http://www.msi.com/product/mb/H77MA-G43.html

The H series boards are limited to BCLK changes only and the CPU turbo in terms of CPU. The integrated GPU can be overclocked quite a bit.
If CPU OC'ing is intended then a Z series board is required. For the H series boards, a "K" series CPU is a waste.

  • First PC Build: MSI P67A-G43 - Can't Boot From Windows 7 DVD

    MB: MSI P67A-G43
    HD: Seagate 1TB
    DVD: HP 1260
    CPU: Intel i5 2500K
I just built my first PC.  In the BIOS I had it set to boot first from my DVD drive that has a 64-bit version of Windows 7 loaded.  No matter what I tried, I received the message: "Reboot and Select Proper Boot Device"
So I have been on the phone with technical support, and they suggested I download a driver update, which I found HERE.
I have tried installing both the driver and the BIOS updates, but every time it says that the boot from the pen drive failed and to check the USB drive and ROM.
I've looked for answers all over the web, but the only ones I find assume that you've previously had Windows installed.  This is a first boot though, and I really don't know what to do next.  Can anyone help with this?
    thanks!

If anyone would like to take a look at these OC settings that are default with my board as to a reason why it wouldn't be booting from the DVD drive or accepting the RAM, I would appreciate it.

Somebody had luck to overclock Q9300 on P7N-SLI Platinum ? please post info

Try with mem settings auto and only adjust Vdimm to vendorspecs.
Did you try BIOS V1.1 from MSI : http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=bios&maincat_no=1&prod_no=1373
This did solve some memory issues.
If so try, if you can, QVL memory and see if problem persists.
Hope this helps  , good luck and keep us posted
Also be sure that your on manual and not linked, this will give problems too, when fsb divider gets higher then memory divider.
Furthermore, by using non qvl mem, the NB and fsb vtt are very depending on eachother.
I had the same with my board  , the only difference with yours is the cirque pipe cooling and an extra chip for yorkfield support  , but it is do-able

  • MSI Z87-G43 can't control fan speed

Hi, i just bought an MSI Z87-G43 and i'm using a i5-4670 on it (yeah, 4670 without the K).
I wanted the minimum noise as possible so i bought a Noctua NH-U12P SE2
Like the pictures shows it has 2 fans.
I connected the 2 fans on cpu1 and cpu2 fan and both BIOS and Commander Center can see them correctly, but both of them can't change the rotation speed.
Those fans have a 3 pins connector.
How can i do it? Now my CPU is cool and i like it, but a little more hot for a little less noise is a good deal (and my goal!)
    thank you

As alternative you can get a fan controller like Sunbeamtech Rheosmart PCI Fan Controller, it should allow to use 4pin PWM singnal and convert it into voltage control,
    Quote
    Product Details:
Smart Way Controlling all Fans & Airflow. The Rheosmart PCI Fan Controller is designed to make any existing 3-pin fan automatically regularized by the PWM signal from the Motherboard! With its ability to connect two fans to a single PWM connector at a maximum of 20W/channel, a wide selection of fans can be supported. When a normal fan is connected to the Rheosmart PCI Fan Controller, they become auto adjusting through the PWM signal.
The Rheosmart PCI Fan Controller operates in two different modes; when connected to a PWM-enabled motherboard you can allow the system to auto-adjust fan speed through he motherboard's temperature sensor. When switched onto manual mode by the pushing of the lever-switch to the right, you turn the connected fan onto manual control mode.

  • Can i crossfire two radeon 7950's with msi Z77A-G43

Im looking to buy MSI's version of the Radeon 7950 twin Frozr to complete my system but im not sure if i will eventually be able to crossfire two of these cards in the future. I know that this MB only has one PCIe3 slots. Does this matter in crossfire? or will I have to replace the MB in order to corssfire?
    MSI Z77A-G43
    8gb Corsair Vengence
    600 Watt Corsair PSU
    Intel Core i5 3770k Oc's at 4.2 ghz
    500 gb Western Digital HDD
    Cooler Master hyper EVO 212

that should work but at PCI-E REV 2.0 speeds just make sure you have gen 3 support turned off or it will not allow crossfire!

Only with MSI vgas of the Gaming series (= even other MSI vgas won't work)

Choose what you like. Both are H87 boards hence no cpu oc possible anyway. VGA boost is not really worth buying a board for. The Gaming board features other extras like Killer LAN and enhanced onboard sound.

  • B85M-G43 CPU Support

Hi all I'm thinking to buy mobo B85M-G43 along with celeron g1820.
The problem is that in CPU support list there is no celerons but in spec page I see this
    Supports 4th Generation Intel® Core™ i7 / Core™ i5 / Core™ i3 / Pentium® / Celeron® processors for LGA 1150 socket
It is intresting because all other mobos with b85 seems to have celeron suppot in official msi cpu list.
If there is some tech guy form msi in this forum could you check this?
And if this mobo doesn't support this cpu what all you could recommend with similar price and features?
    Thanks
