Can I-pad 1 be hooked up to a projector

can I-pad 1 be connected to a projector?

Yes, but only apps that support video output (such as Keynote) will display. The iPad 1 cannot mirror its screen as can later models of iPad.

I would like to be able to view my Sky programs through the iMAC rather than have a seperate TV set up in the same room. I have no interest in recording just a straight substitute for a TV.
    Thanks for your help.

Do you ever visit a friend or realtive with a Mac who has faster internet? Maybe the local library has Macs on a fast line. If so, get a USB thumb drive and put this link on it from your computer:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
Then put this link on the drive:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1429
When you are at some place that has a Mac with a decent download speed. insert the thumb drive in that Mac and click on the first link ("DL1399") and direct the download to your thumb drive. Now do the same this with the second link.
The installer files will now be on the thumb drive and, when you get home, drag them from the thumb drive to your desktop. Install the Combo update first.

Can i-Pad 2 play the games in Facebook on-line?

No - the games are flash-based and flash is not supported on the iPad. You may find that some of them have their own versions in the App Store.

  • I want to use an IPad (w/retina display-newest) in my church hooked up to a projector

I want to use an IPad (w/retina display-newest) in my church hooked up to a projector and shown on a screen.  I'd like to do it wirelessly as the projector will be installed in the ceiling.  I am not sure exactly what I would need to get this set up. I do not have wifi at church or cellular but would be getting the iPad (not yet purchased) with wifi only.  If I use Apple TV to hook up the projector to, would it need wifi to work if I will only be using the ipad for documents, worksheets (much like what a school/professor would use) or other things that an app could do (draw a line, etc.)

Epson projectors have such a feature, so if you're going to buy a new projector, you might start with their units. The app is described here:
    http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/jsp/Landing/ProjectorApp.do
and there's a projector compability list linked from the very bottom of the page. There may be other projector manufacturers with similar apps, but I don't know for sure. All will probably also require a local WiFi network set up, though said network should not need Internet access if that's an issue for you.
    Regards.

  • Can I connect my iPad mini to a data projector using a lightning to 30-pin adapter connected to a 30-pin to VGA connector? Or will this only work with a lightning to VGA connector.

Can I connect my iPad mini to a data projector using a lightning to 30-pin adapter connected to a 30-pin to VGA connector? Or will this only work with a lightning to VGA connector?

The lightning to 30 pin adapter does not support video as per the item description in the Apple online store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD823ZM/A/lightning-to-30-pin-adapter
This adapter lets you connect devices with a Lightning connector to many of your 30-pin accessories.* Supports analog audio output, USB audio, as well as syncing and charging. Video output not supported.
You will need to the Lightning to VGA adapter directly
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD825ZM/A/lightning-to-vga-adapter?fnode=3a
Or the Lightning Digital AV Adapter
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD826ZM/A/lightning-digital-av-adapter
If the projector supports HDMI input.

  • Can't see any devices hooked up to Sata ports #5&6 on K9A2 Plat board

Hi there, I'm new to this forum.
    My virgin system consists of
    MSI K9A2 Platinum, Bios 1.4
    4 GB Corsair
    CoolerMaster Silent Pro M600
    AMD Phenom II X4 940
    Zalman CNPS9700NT
    Visiontek ATI Radeon 4850
    SuperTalent 64GB Sata II SSD
    Samsung SH-223 DVD-RW, Sata II
    LiteOn CD-RW IDE
I can get into BIOS and see devices hooked up to Sata ports #1 to #4, but I can't see Sata ports #5 & #6 with any device connected to those ports. I know these Sata ports are connected to a Promise T3 controller.
    1. Do I need to install the Promise driver first?
    2. Can I install the O/S on a disk drive hooked up to Sata port #5=
    Thank you for any help.

1 Yes, or load with F6 during install
    2 Yes.
The promise T3 has it own BIOS, you should see it when the controller is turned on as a separate boot page.

  • Mac Mini Can't Find my Printer Hooked Up Via Firewire?

My Canon i9900 printer has both USB 2.0 and FW400 ports. When I hooked it up to my Mac Mini via USB, it recognizes it fine. But when I tried to hook it up via a FW400 to FW800 adapter cable, it doesn't show up in the list of printers in System Pref's "Print & Fax." Not even when I do a search for "more printers." But when I check the Firewire port in the Mini's System Profiler, there it is listed as being connected, a Canon printer.
Thinking it may be a problem with my adaptor cable, I hooked it to an external FW400 HDD and turned it on. No problem, the HDD was immediately recognized and showed up on my desktop as an external firewire drive.
How can I get the Mini to recognize my printer hooked up to my FW800 port? I sure would like to free up one of my USB ports, as well as get better printer performance via firewire. Thanks.

Recognizing the printer over Firewire would require the proper class driver, which I'm guessing doesn't exist.
I seriously doubt there would be a speed increase using a FW interface. Printing is not that data intensive and the speed bottle neck would not be USB. USB hubs are not expensive if you need more ports.

  • Can't mkinitcpio with "nouveau" hook for early start of KMS

    Hello Everyone,
My first message on this board! But I'm using Arch for two years now.
I have a problem with KMS:
I try to start early KMS with the nouveau driver in order to have a nice plymouth-ed boot.
    I followed the wiki : https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/No … arly_start
But mkinitcpio says that there is no hook for "nouveau" in /lib/initcpio/hook...
I have the last version of xf86-video-nouveau and nouveau-dri.
Have someone had the same problem?
How can I manage to make an initframfs with nouveau module?
    Thank you!
    David

Read the wiki page again. Nouveau is a module, not a hook, and belongs in the MODULES array.

  • HT3728 My Time Capsule won't allow me to access my home network each day (intermittently) between about 1000-1800. My modem is working properly, and I can get on-line by hooking my computer straight to my modem, so I know it's the Time Capsule at fault. I

My Time Capsule won't allow me to access my home wireless network for several hours each day -- usually between 1000-1830 or so. My modem is working correctly and I can still get on-line by going straight from my computer (MacBook Pro) to the Ethernet port. It must be the Time Capsule -- any ideas?

    Any ideas?
    Wireless Interference
Might be caused by a cordless phone in the vicinity. To give you an example, my neighbor.....across the street...used to be able to literally crash my wireless network if he was in his front yard talking on his cordless phone.
I discovered this by accident one day after spending weeks trying figure out why my network would crash at random times.
Other possibilities include a wireless security/camera system near you
Still other things might be an amateur ham radio operator....which should not interfere....but again from experience, I know that this can occur.
Yet another possibility is another wireless network near you that is being turned on and off at random times. Some users power up their modem/router only when they want to do so and leave it off otherwise.
Some general rules to help avoid interference:
Move any cordless phones that you might have as far away as possible from the Time Capsule and/or your computer(s)
Avoid placing other electronic devices....computer, television, amplifier, satellite receiver, etc. near the Time Capsule and/or your computer(s)
Avoid metal surfaces near the Time Capsule and/or your computers
Elevate the Time Capsule as much as possible. Think of it as a water sprinkler....you want to get the room as wet as possible
Experiment with different wireless channels on the Time Capsule. To do this:
    Open AirPort Utility
    Click on the Time Capsule
    Click Edit
    Click the Wireless tab
    Click Wireless Options
Start with Channel 11 on the 2.4 GHz band and work your way down
It is unlikely that you are picking up interference on the 5 GHz band since there are.....for now at least.....far fewer networks using this frequency.
