Can I Pan a single midi note

Is it possible to pan a single midi note in the matrix viewer in Logic? When I edit my midi data in the matrix I sometimes want to pan certain notes left or right but I can't figure out how to do it? This would especially helpful when editing drum loops so I can pan hi hat or certain sounds to certain positions.

to add to another post on this thread. if you are using the exs24 multi-channel insert you can assign different sound as aux channel inputs. this will allow you to pan your cymbals as you wish.
you can also use a multi-channel ultrabeat to do the same. next to the pan button for the instrument in ultrabeat you will see the word main. click on that and then you can assign an output for that specific sample.
from there you can go to an aux channel and assign the input of the aux to the ultrabeat or exs multi-channel output, and put effects, pans, volume and such.
very usefull.

Did you try browsing your backups in the Finder ? That is, do not go and "Enter Time Machine". Instead, navigate to your Time Machine backup via Finder and then manually go to the time period (by folder name) you are looking for ... when you find your Aperture library you can then "Show Package Contents" and find the Master you are looking for.

I hum lots of bassline ideas above my drumming. Is there a plugin or some way to get Logic to take my hummed ideas, recognize the pitch, and translate that info to MIDI notes?

MIDI note delay / stagger using Caps Lock keyboard and 3rd party plugins

Whenever I am using any of the following plugins:
Waldorf PPG Wave, Waldorf D-Pole or Audio Damage Reverence,
with the respective plugin windows open, I can hit several notes on the Caps Lock keyboard simultaneously and some of them will trigger after the rest.
Interestingly, Reverence and D-Pole are effects, and so placing them on any audio instrument, including those that came with Logic, causes them to behave as PPG Wave always does when its plugin window is open.
The delay time seems to be variable.
When the plugin windows are closed, there is no delay.
As well, triggering many notes at once or notes in quick succession seems to cause things to stagger up more.
Sometimes the MIDI notes get stuck and continue playing until they are pushed again.
This seems strange to me, as CPU usage on the plugins is extremely low (the CPU meter does not even register a single mark).
The problem does NOT occur if I draw out a MIDI sequence that does precisely the sort of things that cause the holdups when I am using the Caps Lock keyboard.
Is the Caps Lock keyboard just not very good at certain things?
Why would this problem occur only with these specific plugins?
None of Logic's included plugins have this problem (unless of course I stick Reverence or D-Pole on them as an insert and open the Reverence window).
Naturally this is an inconvenience that can be worked around, but it is annoying.

I opened up the Activity Monitor, and CPU usage in Logic Express is 35-40% with the plugin window open and between 16-20% with it closed.
That doesn't seem to be it, but your suggestion that the Caps Lock keyboard is probably just not good at handling many notes at once is definitely correct.
I plugged in a MIDI keyboard and the CPU usage is the same, but there is no staggering problem.
Perhaps there is something off with the CPU meter in Logic Express 7, though.
The Audio side registers activity, but the CPU side says nothing, when clearly the Activity Monitor has it right.
Anyway, thank you for answering my question--it is sort of an annoying little problem, but I just won't play fast with Caps Lock, I suppose.

Locking midi controller expression data to midi note data. How to do it?

I am recording some sax and trumpet lines into Logic using Samplemodeling software (The Trumpet, The Sax Brothers). The data goes into Logic on a midi channel.
At the same time as playing the notes, I am using an expression pedal to control different aspects of the sound (cc64, but it could be set to anything midi controller number, as long as I also set it in the Samplemodeling software and make sure that Logic receives and Samplemodeling sends on the same midi channel).
The midi note data and midi data record properly. However, I am having a problem with editing. If I move the note in time (i.e. shift it left or right in piano roll), the cc64 data does not move with it. I can see the data, and of course, could cut and paste it or hyper draw it, but that would be very time consuming. Is there a way to lock the expression data to the note data so that when you move the note the midi controller data moves as well. I assume the same question would apply to pitch/volume/pan or any other controller, but I have not tried that.
Alternately, is there another way to record the data, so it is locked to the midi notes?

Well, I routed around in the manual and finally found the answer. There is a pull down menu which allows you to choose to tie together the non-note midi data to the note data.
"Turn on the Functions > Include Non-Note MIDI Events setting to tie other data (such as pitch-bend, modulation, aftertouch, or poly pressure) in a region to the region’s notes."

EQing, processing individual MIDI Notes

So I'm relatively inexperienced at using MIDI, but am in a place where I need to utilize MIDI drums in particular it to get some demo work out. I like a few of the sampled drum kits in the ESX24, but I'd like to be able to process the kit in the same way I would a live, recorded drum kit. IE, I'd like to EQ and compress each individual drum, then Compress, EQ, reverb, etc to the entire kit. I know I can do this by literally separating each drum into individual MIDI tracks, and then processing from there, but I'm wondering if there's a way to do that from within a sampled kit itself, so I can save myself some time and CPU load. Can I add compression, EQ, pan, etc to individual MIDI notes without having to split them into separate tracks? Thanks for your help on this.

Sorry that may have been a bad way of phrasing things. I should have just said cymbals. I'm currently messing around with the "Studio Heavy Kit," but there certainly is no overhead output that I'm aware of. I'd probably just throw the cymbals into one or two stereo tracks, if need be. I'm just trying to give myself as much flexibility to mix individual parts of the kit as possible with the smallest amount of CPU load.
Could you explain what the "demix by note" function is, and how you're using it? That may be the simplest answer to my question. Thanks.

Listen to program change on single midi port?

I am trying to control MainStage via program change messages. Is there a way to make MainStage listen to program change messages only on a single midi port? It seems like MainStage switches patches no matter on what port or midi channel program changes arrive.

Yes, that would do the trick if I did not want to change MainStage patches remotely. I should have made clearer what my setup is and how I want to use MainStage:
I have two ot three keyboards attached to my Mac via USB. When I change programs on one of them, a small application that I made myself recieves it and sends program changes to the other keyboards. It also loads MidiPipe setups that I use to route midi data to and from the two keyboards and to another sequenzer. So all keyboards need to be connected and program change messages have to be sent. My goal is to have that application also switch MainStage patches. Because I need to rearrange the patches in my 'master' keyboard frequently, I need to have MainStage respond to the program changes from my app and not to the ones that are sent from the keyboard, so that the right sounds are loaded indepently of what the order of patches in the keyboard is.
But I think it just can't be done with MainStage that way. I think it should be a very basic thing for every midi application to choose where to recieve its data from. I thought maybe there is a hidden preference or something. But it seems like I have to wait for MainStage 2 because I need to have program change messages arrive at the computer. Maybe then it supports AppleScript to change patches this way.

I have 2 bex queries and has to develope a single crystal report .Is it possible???? If so, than how to connect two bex queries and develope one single crystal report.Any other option is also fine. I mean ....no need to use crystal..( I can go for one single webi..).But need to know the approach ...
or else...can I create universe on 1 bex and other universe on other bex ..and go for one single webi report..
Only problem is client is particular about one single report(either crystal or webi)
if i go for webi ...I know we can use link universe option but I dont know whether it works fro OLAP environment.

You can use either CR or WebI.
In CR Designer create the report using the SAP toolbar (Create report from query) based on the 1st BEx query. Then use the Database expert (first entry in the Database menu) to add an additional connection to your 2nd BEx query (+Create new connection->SAP BW DX query). You can then join the results of the 2 different queries in the database expert also.. Please note that if you do NOT want to join the result sets, then it is more efficient to use subreports. Create two different CR reports, each based on one of the BEx queries and then use one of those as your main report and insert the other one into it as subreport. Once embedded you do not have to keep the separate .rpt file of your second report.
For Webi you must build 2 universes, each based on one of your BEx queries. In your report you can add multiple queries based on different universes. You can join the results sets here by using the Merge dimensions button in the report editor area.

PS; Keep in mind that joining a large number of rows at report level (either in CR or WebI) can cause performance problems. If this is your requirement, how many rows do you expect to get back from each individual query?

You are most of the way there. Each user having access to hard drive is the key. If users are limited in file privileges this is harder.
Any files you add to your library and any files she adds to her library are available to the other. Just not automatically. Each user must add the files to their own library using the add file or add folder option from menu bar.
What I have done is set library location to a location outside of My Documents\My Music. On my network storage I have a folder names s:\itunes. Both accounts iTunes are set to use this location for the library.

The first part of your answer worked great, thanks for that! However, since doing that, there are still songs on the iPad that I want to delete. I place my finger on the song, swipe to the left....and nothing. No red "delete" appears at the right. That used to work on my full size iPad, but not on this mini. I just purchased it last Friday...maybe it's defective?
