The iTunes store sais that I can´t play a movie on my PC because it does not support HDCP. Do I am able to watch it on Apple TV anyway?

I don`t know i haven`t try it yet. Don`t want to take the risk that I can`t watch it...
What is the risk? It will work (it should) or it won't.

    Hi,
In iChat open the Connection Doctor (Video menu) and the the Capabilities option
Are all items showing Green ?
Try restarting iChat (It re-reads the computers Ability at each launch)
If that does not work try restarting the Computer.
Make sure that in iChat menu > Preference > Video Section the Bandwidth Limit is not set to 100kbps (this is too Low for 1-1 video chats)
    Do a Speed test
"Real World" speeds need at least 256kbps both up and down.
Check the System Profiler is "seeing" the camera.
It will be in Hardware > USB

Hey. I have a problem. I updated my mac os x to 10:8 for I can not start Acrobat Pro, which I bought six months ago.
Proglamet says that the computer does not support Power PC. Help
When I try to start it says (program "Acrobat 6.0.2 Professional.app" can not open because PowerPC applications are no longer supported.)
    Please help

The version of Acrobat you have is a PowerPC application and will not run on Mountain Lion.  You will need to upgrade/purchase an Intel version of Acrobat Pro, probably Version 9.
It might have been worth checking to see if the apps you run are supported on ML before upgrading.  If you backed up your system before the upgrade you could always revert to your previous level.

  • Included Mini-DVI to DVI adapter does not support HDCP and iTunes HD movies

    Hi.
Just downloaded Twilight in HD (to own) from the iTunes Store and had the annoying message about HDCP not being supported by my display, and that I could not play the movie in HD.
My Mac Mini is plugged to a very HDCP-compliant Sony Bravia 40" LCD TV via Apple's mini-DVI to DVI adapter (included in the new Mac Mini's box) and a DVI to HDMI cable.
(HDCP works well for this TV with a PS3, another Sony Blu-Ray player (the 2 are for zones A and B), an AppleTV)
Since I have other recent Macs with a Mini DisplayPort, I happen to also have an Apple branded Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter.
So I replaced the (mini-DVI to DVI) adapter by the (Mini DisplayPort to DVI) adapter and plugged it on the Mini DisplayPort on the Mac Mini.
I can now play the HD version on my Sony TV!!
This really sounds like a joke!
A joke that is going to make me go the shop and buy another (Mini DisplayPort to DVI) adapter, since I like to always have one, as well as the VGA adapter, with my MacBooks.
Let's hope there will sonn be an iTunes, Leopard, or mini-DVI to DVI adapter firmware update very soon to fix this.

I am actually very surprised that your miniDisplayPort to DVI transition works with HD content.
I'd consider that a bonus and cherish it until Apple removes that functionality in a future update.
It is probably a bug as it should not work.
The thing to keep in mind is that DVI cables do not support the necessary DRM/encryption signals for HD video content.
This is one of the main reason DisplayPort was introduced.
So I am not surprised that miniDVI to DVI to HDCP does not play HD content on your TV.
In fact this is +expected behavior+ due to the lack of DRM/encryption signals.
No matter how you convert from miniDVI to DVI, the port cannot create something that it doesn't have in the first place.
The more I am surprised that the miniDisplayPort to DVI to HDCP transition provides these signals. I would have expected them to be filtered out in the DVI cable in the middle as this cable cannot pass something on that DVI is not designed to carry (HD DRM/encryption signals).
It could very well be a 'bug' in the miniDisplayPort to DVI cable controller, which Apple might 'fix' in a future driver update.
It is likely a mistake that this works.
What you really need is a miniDisplayPort to DisplayPort to HDCP conversion. Or directly a miniDisplayPort to HDCP cable. Those are the only routes that are guaranteed to work passing HD video DRM/encryption signals along.
But as far as i know neither of these two cables are available yet.
Which might be the reason why Apple - for the time being - allows your miniDisplayPort to DVI route to work. Emphasis on +for the time being+.
I would not count on the fact that this will work forever.
And I would certainly not count on a software update that will make the DVI route work. This will never work due to DVI's incapacity of providing DRM/encryption signals for HD content.

  • I just took over an iPod Touch 3rd. generation, 32GB and when I place it in my Philips docking station to play music, I get a message that " this equipment does not support charging". My question is: Is this an iPod sw or hw issue or is it the dock?

The Philips device is a DCM5090/10 Tower and it should support charging iPod Touch. Any suggestions??

    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Make sure the iPod is fully seated in the dock
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Does Phillips say it is compatible with your model iPod and it iOS. Sometimes an iOS update will break compatibility
    - Sometimes this works
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • How can I open up a disc when it says this computer does not have to programme to open it??

I've inserted a disc I got with a text book but the mac won't open it as it doesn't have a programme to recognise it? It asks me to search for one in the app store, but when I do it still doesn't find one??

1- Check if the CD is Mac Supported
2- If yes, call the manufacturers tech support
3- If no, try oppening it with crossover, or Bootcamp (windows in another partition)
4- If none of the above works: GoodLuck M8

  • How come my Windows computer isn't letting me play a movie off iTunes? Do I need to buy a HDCP cable?

    Can anyone help?

There is no such thing as an HDCP cable.  The monitor or video card in the computer may not support HDCP.
Windows system requirements for HD 720p content
32 or 64-bit version of Windows 7 or Windows 8; Windows XP and Vista don't support HDCP
    iTunes 10 or later
2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or faster processor
At least 1 GB of RAM
A video driver that supports HDCP (you may need to check with the manufacturer to determine if your video driver supports HDCP)
A display that supports HDCP with a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 or higher with a digital connection (DVI, DisplayPort, or HDMI)
If your computer doesn't meet all of the above requirements, you will be unable to purchase, rent, or view HD content from the iTunes Store.

I just bought an HD movie on iTunes.  Yesterday, I watched all but twenty minutes of it on my Dell laptop.  Today, I tried to open it on the same laptop, and it told me my computer can't play HD movies, that I have to view it in SD.  The error message said that my computer didn't have the capabilities, but I have several other HD movies that I have always and can still watch without issue.  Just this one doesn't work.  Why, and do you know how to fix this?

Apparently the display is required to be HDCP compatible to view HD movies in iTunes. My display isn't so this is my problem. I contacted Apple support and they have agreed to credit me for the HD movie and I have now downloaded the SD version.

The Game Center app is pre installed and cannot be removed from the device.
Best thing to do is move it to the last available screen.
Hold down the Game Center app until all the apps jiggle then sliide the Game Center app to the right from one screen to the next. This requires a bit of finesse, but it's doable.
Press the Home button one time to stop the apps from jiggling.
For the Apple ID issue, try resetting.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
Then try your Apple ID and password for the Game Center app.

What to do?? - I just updated my iTunes to ver 11.2.1 because of the annoying messages they keep sending out.
Now I can't play the movies and TV series I've purchased and were watchable before.
Comes up with "This movie can be played only on displays that support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection)."
The cheek of the matter is everytime I tried to get Apple support it comes up with a request for me to pay $54 for their support package, to fix a problem I didn't have until I complied to one of their update requests.
End of Rant!!! - Anyone know how to fix please?

Well, I wonder about all the responses...:)
Anyhow, I wound up "fixing" the problem by using the System Restore disks for the Mini. It's now running Tiger 10.4.11 (with all updates) and I copied my iTunes library over. It all works now. <shrug> I have no idea what the problem was, and I'm a bit leery of upgrading it to Leopard, so I think I'll just leave well enough alone.

  • How can I watch purchased movies on apple tv?

How can I watch purchased movies on apple tv?  I recently purchased an apple tv and cannot play the movies I have bought on my itunes account?
    Can anyone help?

You can also got to movies and select purchased and if it comes up cannot connect to server go to settings and scroll down to restart and it should work. That's what I did and it showed my purchased movies and I don't have my Apple TV paired with a computer. Just using iCloud. But you also can pair your computer but its not necessary to watch purchased movies you have bought through iTunes. Hope this helps.

  • Can't play rented movies.  They appear to download OK and the timer accurately reports days remaining to watch.  But whenever I try to play the movie I get this message, "An error occurred loading this content.  Try again later."

Can't play rented movies.  They appear to download OK and the timer accurately reports days remaining to watch.  But whenever I try to play the movie I get this message, "An error occurred loading this content.  Try again later.". Have been using the Apple TV for 2 weeks and everything else seems to work OK.  The Apple TV reports its SW is up to date.  I've tried this with two movies rented frim iTunes directly from the Apple TV.

If after you download the movie, you navigate away and do something else with your Apple TV the content you have downloaded will be overwritten and you'll need to download it again. It's a pain in the neck for many who have slow downloads but it's something that comes with using volatile memory rather than a hard drive for storage.
Perhaps you're not doing this, but I thought it worth mentioning.

  • Can't play a movie on DVD with QuickTime

I can't play a movie on a DVD with QuickTime. With the player open, when I go to File and then Open, I get the two Video and Audio folders on the DVD itself! The Apple Quicktime guide says of how to play video:
"To open a movie on your hard disk, a CD, or a DVD, do one of the following:
    1) In the Finder (or Windows Explorer), double-click the file or drag it to the QuickTime Player application icon.
2)Choose File > Open and select the file."
Firstly, if I double click on the DVD drive in Windows Explorer, it'll open the DVD with my default player (not Quicktime). Secondly what is the 'QuickTime Player application icon?
    Thanks, Trickyf

Thanks QuickTimeKirk. I didn't know that about QuickTime not being able to play DVD movies. However am still interesed re the icon. Where is the icon supposed to be which I drag files to? On the desktop? There isn't an icon in the player.
    Thanks
