Can I play Empire Total War on my Macbook Air 13" 2012?
I do not need to run it on ultra settings. Just medium without any lag. Here are the specifics for my Air:
Processor 1.8 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel HD Graphics 4000 512 MB
Software OS X 10.8.2 (12C3012)

Typically when the VRAM for a GPU is listed it's usually targeted at discrete cards not shared GPUs like the one found on the MacBook Air. I have not had the opportunity to install onto my MacBook Air yet as it's only got 4GB of RAM but I did install it on my 13" rMBP with 8GB of RAM and it's playable on low-to-medium. You definitely won't be running the game on ultra.
I found turning down the shaders, shadows and particle effects help tremendously as by mid-battle with all the units in the play the game definitely got a bit laggy due to pure unit count.

Napoleon Total War Error 403 Macbook Air
I've been downloading Napoleon Total War for my Macbook Air and the last few times I have recieved a 403 forbidden error. It has not completed download, and is not in my application folder so Feral's answer to several other users will not work for me.
Disable anti virus software if installed.
If you have Little Snitch installed, that can prevent apps from downloading.
Mac App Store: How to resume interrupted downloads
Make sure Mac App Store is selected in: System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General

Empire Total War Not Working on 2013 iMacs

I just purchased a high-end 2013 iMac with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB. I downloaded Empire Total War (ETW) from the App Store tonight and after installation, got the message: "This Mac is not supported".
After looking around, I found a Feral posting saying: "The following graphics cards are not supported: ATI X1xxx series, Intel GMA series and NVIDIA 7xxx series."
Can someone smarter than I confirm that the GeForce GTX 780M 4GB graphics card won't in fact play ETW? I can't be the only one is this boat...
If so, is there a workaround? It seems odd that Feral would sell a popular game on the App Store and not allow top-of-the-line iMac's to play it...

Loyal iMac UserHi there, I'm in the same boat. The issue has come in with way OS X Mavericks reports the VRAM of the GTX 780m.
Feral have confirmed that they are testing a patch to fix this, unfortunately no time frame was supplied for when they will release this.

Need Some Help! Empire: Total War Digital Download
I Purchased Empire: Total War for windows through the best buy digital downloads. I succesfully downloaded the main setup to my desktop along with all seven setup files, However when I open the main setup file it asks me to insert disk 1 in order to continue. I have never done a digital download before as I was afraid that I would run into a problem such as this and be out my money. If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it.

When our Digital Library goes through upgrades, I have heard of discrepancies occurring with the video game files. However, I haven’t quite seen what you’ve described! Trouble with Installing Empire: Total War; downloaded from Best Buy Pc app

I have had troubles downloading and installing Empire: Total War. At first, I coudn't download it but I now have figured it out. I checked today after work and it successfully downloaded. The trouble now is that I have the files but can't seem to install them. I pressed the "install manually" button within the Pc app but nothing happened. Help would be appreciated!Hi mhviking25,
You should be able to locate the game data files here:
C:\Users\ [User Name] \AppData\Local\Best Buy pc app\DigitalShelf\ [Your Game folder]
In that folder there is likely an executable install file (.exe) that you could try. If it's not there or that install method doesn't work, there may have been a problem during the download process and you'll want to try a re-download. I know that not ideal as you ran into issues trying to download it the first time but hopefully it doesn't come to that.

so i just downloaded ETW from the apple app store and it took like 6 hours. the game works fine except for one
problem. the graphics seem to be set on "low" and when i try to change it to high or even medium nothing seems to happen. the screen will load up again as if its resetting the graphics but nothings changed. i have 512mb of graphics. i don't know if thats enough or what to play with high graphics??? whats going on here?

Hi everyone, I have done some research on Empire Total War and it looks like a very fun game. The problem is im running on Snow Leapord and dont have the requirements to upgrade to Lion. Snow Leapord - 10.6.8 while Lion - 10.7.5. The requirement im missing is a dual core 2 processor. Is there anway I can get this amazing game with out having to purchase a new computer?

I am not on the fastest internet connection; nevertheless, it this program should download. Yet, I find myself trying to down load it through the night to find it has frozen again. Does Apple Inc have a solution or does will it continue to ignore the matter? Dunno... we shall see if someone can help. I have notice I am not the first to complain that this game does not work for everyone, despite having already paid my forty dollars.Okay, I have solved my own problem. I shutdown my display "screen savers" and my "energy saver" services under "preference." I then turned down my monitor brightness, so to reduce the wear and tear on the monitor. This was all done to prevent my MAC from shutdown and interruption of the the extremely large file download. So far, fingers crossed, the program has not had a single hitch. In closing, the preference setting under display and energy saver was set to "never." And monitor brightness reduced to lessen the chance of damage to you monitor left for a long period of time. Hope this helps. The game is really good! It was worth the work to figure out, though Apple should provide a better work around.

Paolo, form ItalyPaolo, the first thing that I would do is install the latest patch for the game. Next, install the latest software suite from ATI; Catalyst Control Center. This will allow you to control the fan speed of the video card. If this doesn't solve your problem, let us know.

Anyone else having trouble downloading Empire Total War?
I recently purchased Empire: Total War from the app store. I have a late 2011 13-inch Mac Book Pro. It runs 4 gb of RAM and has 200 free gb of storage. Usually, my computer is very fast in regards to downloading. However, this app has been "downloading" for around 3 hours and has made seemingly no progress. I know 12gb is a large file but I have downloaded similar sized files in the past and have had no problems. I read some comments detailing a similar problem with other users, specifically when d/l ETW from the app store. Is this a sign that the game will not download? What course of action is necessary to rectify this problem if it persists?

I have a Macbook Air (july 2012) with OS X 10.8.3 installed. I have dvds with .vob files and have Quicktime Version 10.2 (603.12). I can't play the DVDs. There are some features of QT that I like, e.g. precise frame selection and save as .png file-help. Am I missing some Apple software? I thought QT for Mountain Lion could convert the .vob files - is there some setting that I have missed?

We have an "old school" DVD player (Sony dvp-nc80v) that plays music throughout our home via connection to multiple embedded speakers. Is there a connector/piece of hardware that we can purchase to hook-up our iPhone or MacBook Air to also play music until we buy some new equipment?

How can I sync apps from my iTunes on Macbook Air without syncing apps from the iPad 2 to my Macbook Air? My daughter's 13" late 2011 MacBook Pro has frozen (null sign displays) after Yosemite installation. I can, however, boot from a clone of my MacBook Air that is on an external drive. I reinstalled Yosemite on the MBP HD, but it still hangs in mid install. Despite the fact that I can boot from the external, could it be the RAM that's the problem? I'd happily put 8 GB in if it seems probable that would solve the problem. I've tried all the suggested procedures that I've seen posted here. Disk Utility, and my older version of DiskWarrior indicate the HD is OK. I have DiskWarrior 5 on order.
Boot the MBP with the OPTION key down. If successful, you should see two HDD icons, Select the recovery partition (on the right).
From the 4 option menu select Disk Utility.
Run Disk Utility>First Aid, Verify and Repair.
If the disk cannot be repaired, it will have to be replaced.
