I am curious about why I am unable to play HD videos on my Macbook Pro? If i am using an HDMI cable to an HD TV, then I can't play any HD videos?
Please help (my computer knowledge is limited).

Can you play the video on your Mac's screen (not connected to the TV)?
When you connect to the TV with HDMI, do you see a desktop appear? (Before you start the movie.)
What kind of movie are you playing, and from where?

It's called a dock connector, not a USB port.
i found a product in the online store, that i guess you place the ipod mini on, and it gives you up to 20 or so more hours of time but then it says that you have to have a firewire port or cable?
What is it? The firewire port is on the computer, not the iPod.
If the original battery is going bad, the first thing to do is get that sorted out. -
My macbook pro won't play any youtube video. I always get a plug-in failure message! How can I solve it? I already did all updates, reinstalled flash player but nothing helps!
1. System Preferences > Other/ Flash Player > Advanced > Delete All
Press the "Delete All" button
Install Adobe Flash Player.

Macbook Pro does not play audio part of video

I have a Macbook Pro (early 2013 with OS 10.10.1).
A colleague sent me a video file, which was originally recorded in MTS format. The sound portion of it does not play on my machine, although it generally can handle MTS. I have a colleague with a Windows PC, for him the audio plays ok. I have another colleague with an older MBP, for him the audio also plays ok. But then I have two more colleagues with a newer MBP like me, and for none of us the audio plays at all. The strange thing is that I can open the file in various editors such as Premiere, Audition, or Logic Pro, and they would all show the waveform of the audio, even the VU meters react normally, but there still is no audible sound.
On the machines that play the sound, we have tried converting the video and exporting the audio portion into various other formats, but with the very same result. None of them play sound for me. This is extremely weird and we have no answer what could be the problem.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

As I said, we had tried several editors and players, as well as all kinds of formats, using all kinds of converters, but so far to no avail.
The AAC codec is a common codec for the Mac, so there should be no need to convert it. I have videos with that codec that play ok. It already turned out that converting the video file to other formats does not make any difference.

You can change the location of your iTunes Media folder from your MacBook HD to your Time Capsule. This will work, but only if your iTunes library is open Apple TV can access your content over Home Sharing. Apple TV cannot play the videos stored on your Time Capsule without iTunes.
iTunes Match does what you want, only with music: Apple TV streams the song from iCloud without iTunes. Unfortunately videos and movies aren't part of the iCloud service. -
MacBook pro will not play a commercial video dvd?
My 17" MacBook Pro will not play a commercial movie DVD. The computer appears to referance the disc 5 times then ejects the disc. I have never played any video on this computer before and I have had the computer for 2 year. I can not get the settings correct or something. If anyone has any suggestions on this problem please let me know.
Can you describe in a handful of bullet points:
what content you are exporting (slideshows, home movies)
how you did it in Aperture
how exactly you burned it (program, settings, etc..)
We need a bit more info... before you start reaching for your wallet
But I must say, I nearly agree with ClayG on the replacement. DVD superdrives are cheap these days.
Depending on how often you use it to watch or burn, I woudln't even bother having it fixed.
If you use it once a week and are not on the road when you do, just get an external bus powered one - it will likely have a dual USB cable, so you'd need two USB sockets - I got one and it worked well -
Brand new MacBook Pro can't handle 720p Video in iMovie?
Well, my Black 2.0 GHz Core Duo MacBook has been replaced by the new 13" 2.26 Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro (I had to pay the difference) and I had it upgraded to 4GB of Ram and a 320GB Hard Drive!
I use a Kodak z1085 IS Digital Camera that records videos in 720p quality. When I import them into iMovie '09, I get this message:
This is the same thing that I got on my Core Duo MacBook. If I did not optimize the video, it would play choppy and could not keep up. On my new MacBook Pro, I still get this message saying that "my computer can't handle it." I can undersatnd my old Core Duo MacBook not being able to handle it, but when a brand new $2000 MacBook Pro can't handle 720p video, somthing has to be wrong here.
Are there cretin specs that indicate what computer can handle what? I'm guessing that this MacBook Pro CAN handle it, but why am I still getting that message? Do I need a $10,000 Mac Pro Tower system to make it happy?
Can anyone please explain this and help me out?

Sorry...$1.5 thousand. Still too much for a brand machine that isn't "powerful enough" to run software that came out before the computer did.

So its only slightly better then the model that can only handle solitaire or any other basic application? I find it odd Apple would include iLife if these machines can't handle all of the features that they are supposed to. Pro means professional. that means this machine should be able to handle PRO applications like Final Cut, etc. But how can it if it can't even handle iMovie! Not to mention they screwed us out of using the old version...so I am stuck using this version!

It sounds like you were perhaps having problems with your MacBook and Apple allowed you to upgrade to the newest version paying something additional. Yes that is exactly what happened. My Black MacBook had many issues. I sent it in for repair three times and even took it to an Apple store when I was on vacation. (don't have any apple stores where I live) All of these repairs did not fix the problems and they kept on coming! So they offered to just replace it. But they don't sell the Black MacBook anymore. Only the white...and I don't like the white (thats why I bought the black!) so that is when they offered me the MacBook Pro if I paid the difference. In which I did. So that is how I got my new MacBook Pro.

Both....It shows that message, and does play somewhat choppy. Not as choppy as the old MacBook though.
Like I said, I'd just like to know what Apple calls "good enough" so it doesn't display that warning. -

It's a weird one as it doesn't happen all the time. Could it have anything to do with running Apple TV and the MacBook 'thinking' there is another display (extended desktop) and playing the video there? -
I have a 13in macbook pro 2006. Playing videos using youtube or VLC(or the like) produces a very choppy effect. This start and stop condition just appeared. Anything I can do to remedy the condition or do I need to buy a new computer?

I have a new macbook pro and just made a video on imovie and it asked me to put it on idvd but there is no idvd listed as an option. How can i get idvd. it doesn't seem available
Since Apple has stopped supporting and offering iDVD you'll need to purchase the iLIfe 11 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: iLife 11 which will include iDVD 7.

This is really frustrating -
Over the last year I have been uploading all of my photos and occasional iPhone video to Aperture 3 (latest version all patches in place). Aperture would recognize the video, create a thumbnale and otherwise treat it nicely.
Now, since upgrading to Lion I find that though I can "see" the old videos in their folders or projects and the associated Thunbnale, I can't play them - I either get the spinning color wheel and then nothing or Aperture will crash and report an error relating to Quicktime (sorry don't have an error code at the moment).
If I try and export a video I can - but what I get also can't be played by Quicktime - just a black screen. When I hit Play - the scroll bar moves, but there is no sound or video.
From Final Cut Pro X, I can imoprt this exported video file and see that it appears complete - but FCPX uses it's own playback elements.
If I shoot a new video on my iPhone, I find that I can see the thumbnale in the import option of Aperture when looking at the phone, but once imported I get a Popup telling me that it is an "Unsupported Video Format" - "Do you want to open this video clip with QuickTIme Player?" If I hit Open then the clip does play, but the thumbnale remains a black square with the warning Exclamation Point.
I have also had some issues with Lion Mail crashing when trying to play a video made on an iPhone and sent to me via email. Seems more likley to be a Lion / Quicktime issue then an Aperture and Mail issue - but who knows.
I spent 2.5 hours of quality time with the Genius bar this morning. We reinstalled Lion and after that the suggestion was to trash and re-install Aperture, but that would require my disc and of coruse a trip home. Mail doesn't seem to still have the issues with iPhone movies that it had - but Aperture is still not happy.
Did as instructed and dragged Aperture 3 to the trash, did the empty trash option, restarted and reinstalled. Then did a software update to catch the new update for Aperture and it found that. Interestingly when I did start it up after that it DID NOT ask me for my key - so clearly some elements were left over.
Now upon retstarting Aperture 3 once again I find that I can still see my old movies (their thumbnails show up) but I still can't play them. The new test movie is there but still generates the popup regarding it being an Unsupported Video Format.
And it's not just my iPhone. Video sent via email from another iPhone can play as an attachment, or when dragged and dropped to the desktop, but once imported into Aperture is once again proclaimed to be an Unsupported Video Format.
Hoping someone out there knows how to resolve this....For some reason it just started to work now. Have no idea what didn't work before.

I have an iPod nano 6th generation and I downloaded 3 music videos but they won't play on my iPod. They only play on my laptop/iTunes. How can I get it to work? I know that my iPod should take music videos because there is a pre-made playlist called "Music videos". Can anyone help me please????
You can sync the music videos, but they won't play on your 6G Nano, because it does not support video playback. Sorry.

I am creating a page with a list of Vimeo video links. I want to have only one video frame on the page. So no matter which video link a user clicks on, the chosen video needs to play in that one video frame on the page. How do I do this in Muse?
Thanks.You can use composition widget for this. Insert the video details in trigger container and then insert that corresponding vimeo video widget in that specific target container. So It would work like, users will click on different video buttons but the actual video will play on same frame which is actually a target container of composition.
The ID that we use for vimeo widget cannot be used for different videos on same time , because every video shares its own ID and url. But you can surely try the above.

I can't seem to get my iPod touch (4th Gen) to play photo slideshows or videos through my TV. Is this a design flaw? Or is it me? My old iPod used to do it no problem, but now I can't even find any video out options in the settings.

I can't get the volume to work when I watch a you tube video, there's no volume slide under the play button and my volume control on my I pad don't do anything to help, but yet my volume works perfect on everything else, what can I do???

My videos from my iphone are horrible when I transfer them to my PC. How can I improve the video on my PC? Can I just convert the files to WMV? When the video plays the speed is off, it's half slow-motion and staggers into normal play. The clips are slightly cut as well, the clips do not roll continuously. I'm taling about videos that are no more than 2 minutes long. I'm frustrated and I could really use some advice-my kids basketball games is what I'm recording and I'm trying to send them to my family (they are not very tech savvy). Thanks
Not it's only function but one for which it was most admirably suited, which is why I really hope someone can find a work around. I am hoping my post to the Apple feedback may prompt a useful response from Apple and I live in hope that my post here will elicit a useful response from another user. I did not miss the the text at the top of the feedback form but you presumably missed my initial text, 'someone here can explain' or my subsequent 'work around from another user'
Just in case anyone reading this has a large collection of music videos, video podcasts or iTunes U then DO NOT upgrade your iPad to iOS 5. If you are considering purchasing the iPad as a useful mobile device to experience these media organised in your iTunes please don't as you will be wasting your money. (unless someone on this forum knows of a way to undo the mess created by those infallible folks at Apple)
