Can I play multiple iphoto slideshows without returning to iphoto interface

Is there a way to play several slideshows sequentially? When giving a presentation, I do not want to have to go back to the clutter of the iphoto interface. I do not want to make quicktime movies and run as a DVD.
A menu for slideshows would be swell. Can automator be configured to do this?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Certainly sending the slideshow to iDVD will make that 640 x 480. However, I'm not sure that's the case with File -> Export, even for iPhoto 6. Have you explored the exporting options? And as to tired or old, well, later versions export to HD quality.
Alternatively, use another app:
Alternatives to iPhoto's slideshow include:
iMovie, on every Mac sold.
Others, in order of price:
PhotoPresenter $29
PhotoToMovie $49.95
PulpMotion $129
FotoMagico $29 (Home version) ($149 Pro version, which includes PhotoPresenter)
Final Cut Express $199
It's difficult to compare these apps. They have differences in capability - some are driven off templates. some aren't. Some have a wider variety of transitions. Others will have excellent audio controls. It's worth checking them out to see what meets your needs.
However, there is no doubt that Final Cut Express is the most capable app of them all. You get what you pay for.

    Hi Brennan,
Only HDMI is going to support audio & video on the single cable. Which MacBook Air do you have? Here's a great article regarding this - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4241. Also keep in mind that only the current generation of MacBook Airs support this. The previous generation, also with MiniDisplay Port would support HDMI but you'd need to run a separate line from the headphone port over AUX for audio.
The first and second generation models, which have micro-DVI, do not support audio. Regarding the RCA cables, Apple offers adapters that allow you to go to VGA and that would probably be your best bet. I do not believe there's a MiniDisplay Port to RCA solution out there, you'd need to do multiple adapters and that's always a questionable performance solution.

  • What games can I play on my iPad without going on line?

What games can I play on my iPad without going on line?

You mean no intenret at all?
Or after you've downloaded them, you want to go offline and play them?
If the first one, then none, there are no pre-installed games on the iPad you can use.
If the second, there are tons of games there that can be downloaded and then played without an intenret connection atferwards.
Just search the App Store. Most allow offline playing in some fashion.

  • Can You Play Multiple Playlists Without User Intervention

Can you stack and play multiple playlists? ie if you had three playlists of 50 songs each, could you pick all three, play all the songs in the first playlist, when it is finished move automatically to the second playlist play its songs then automatically move to the third without user intervention? And if so, can you play each of these in shuffle mode?

There's no "impromptu" method of doing so that I know of.
As far as un-impromptu methods (it's always fun inventing words), it will depend on whether you want to listen to this mega-playlist on an iPod or just with iTunes.
If it's just with iTunes, you can go to the File menu > New Folder command and create a new folder which we can call the Mega-Playlist folder. Drag the three playlists in question into that folder. When you select that folder and press Play, iTunes should go through all the songs.
If it's on an iPod, since Folders don't transfer over from iTunes, the only solution I know of would be to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes that will -
Match any of the following rules:
Playlist is the first playlist +
Playlist is the second playlist +
    Playlist is the third playlist.
Synching this mega-playlist to your iPod will allow you to select it from the Playlist menu.
Shuffle mode would shuffle songs from all three playlists together, not shuffle songs from the first playlist before moving on to shuffling songs from the second playlist before shuffling songs from the third playlist.

  • [iPhone] Can't play multiple compressed sounds, seems to block!

I'm writing an app that needs to play a variety of audio samples of different lengths back to back, but only one at a time. The system I came up with works great when using WAV files or whenever running on the simulator no matter what audio type, but on the iPhone itself the logic breaks if I use a compressed audio format like MP3 or AAC. I don't want to ship 5MB of audio when it could be 500K, so this is a serious problem for me!
I think the bugs have to do with the iPhone's hardware acceleration for compressed audio, and certain playback behaviors changing in this context, but I'm not positive.
Basically, I have a list of 18 samples. I load each into it's own queueable object with it's own queue reference and buffers. If nothing is playing, I pick the first object randomly and play it, wait for it's queue's isRunning property to go false, then play the next sample upon completion. Fine, right?
However, when using MP3s, the first sample I play works just fine, but all the other sounds fail to play, stopping immediately (messing up my event logic). Interestingly, when I loop all the way back around to the original sample, it plays again just fine! It doesn't matter which file I play first... the first file always works great, but appears to block the output of all the other sounds that come later, even though it can be correctly played again itself.
The return codes for all of my AudioQueue calls are 0, even when the audio for a sample doesn't play, and I see a reasonable number of buffering messages as if it's reading and enqueueing each and every file correctly. I'm even flushing the object's queue before calling stop, and resetting the object's queue after the 'isRunning' property goes false, to no avail.
Can anybody describe the magic incantation that allows multiple compressed audio files to be played through the AudioQueue engine, one at a time, without them blocking each other's output? Am I missing something simple?
    Help!

  • How can I play multiple episodes of a podcast in iTunes 11?

Hi there - I'm subscribing to a number of podcasts in iTunes 11. I would like to play multiple episodes of a podcast one after the other without having to start each one separately, and preferably without having to create a playlist each time. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

I do not have an 'My Podcasts' option.  Ihave Podcasts and On this IPod
In Podcasts if I click on a podcasts no options display.
Also, why do some of my podcasts now delete automatically after they have been played and some do not.
I have my Settings set to not auto delete
I have to say that Apple seems to screw more things up than it fixes.  I would suggest when you include new options you default it to keep it as it was before upgrade so people can choose to use it and not have to reset things not to use it

  • Can I link multiple iPhoto Events into a single slide show?

I keep iPhoto Events based upon date and activity.  For example a European trip my be 3-4 events with one per country.  I also have Applw TV.  My question is can I link multiple Events into a single sideshow.  I have a lot of pictures, so doing this selection at the picture level will be tedious at best.

Not sure where you are going but my suggestion is not to work at the photo level - you simply select all of the photos in an event and create an album then drag all of the photos in each other event to that album giving you an album with all of the photos from the desired events in one place - then sleect them and make a slideshow - no working with indivitual photos at all

  • Can Flash play multiple audio and video files at the same time?

    Hello,
    I would like to create a web-based client/application that
can play multiple a/v files or stream multiple a/v files at same
time. Is this possible with Flash, without the use of RTMP? If yes,
can you please provide an example. Thanks in advance.

You never edit within a clip. The purpose of opening a clip is to make sync adjustments, audio equalization, color correction, stabilization, things that you might want do overall to the master clip before you edit it. You edit the portion of the clip you want from the browser into a project. There is really very seldom any need to open a clip into the timeline.

  • Can I merge multiple iPhoto libraries in the new Photo's app. This was not possible in iPhoto but is possible in Aperture.

Now that iPhoto is 'Photos' on 10.10.3 is it possible to merge multiple iPhoto libraries. It is possible to this this in Aperture but not in iPhoto (I'm using 10.10.2 and can't upgrade until other software I use is qualified for 10.10.3). Here's the deal - I  changed my drive to an SSD and backed up my old hard drive (which had the original iPhoto library on it. I did a clean install with my new drive so iPhoto created a new (blank) library. This upgrade was done a few months ago so now I have 2 different iPhoto libraries. Note that the newer library is connected to iCloud and if I was to 'Switch Libraries' it will delete my current photo stream. There is a way to do this manually - I could switch to the old library and locate the root folders in the 'newer library', move them to a new folder and import. This procedure is awkward and not my preferred route. So if there's anyone using the new 'Photos' app on 10.10.3 please let me know thanks!

To merge the libraries manually use "File > Export".
To save the high quality originals, set the export panel like this, with "Kind Original":
If you have edited versions with added titles, caption, places, etc, use these export settings to save your work:

  • Conferring with multiple possible Transferees without returning to the Caller

I was asked a question by the receptionist today that I thought would have a simple answer but for the life of me I couldn't work it out or find it documented anywhere I looked.
We have a BE6K system with a 8961 handset at reception and 8945s around the office.
When a call comes to reception the receptionist typically does an attended transfer to one of the extensions but in the situation that the first potential tranferee doesn't wish to take the call she would like to be able to place a call to a different extension and confer with a different potential transferee before completing the transfer.  Ideally she would like to do this without involving the original caller.
At the moment she simply resumes the call with the original caller and immediately starts a second transfer.  This means the caller drops out of MoH briefly - she would like to avoid that.
Is it possible to try multiple potential transferee without going back to the original caller?

    Dieter,
The only thing I can think of would be for the receptionist to setup a conference as follows:
1 - Caller calls in requesting to speak to person A.
2 - The receptionist places the Caller on hold and begins a new call to person A.
3 - Person A doesn't want to speak to the Caller and the receptionist hangs up with Person A.
4 - The receptionist starts a new call to Person B.
5 - Person B would like to talk to the Caller so the receptions  puts Person B on hold and un-holds the Caller and informs them that  Person B would speak with he\she.
6 - The receptionist pushes the "Join" softkey and selects both  calls using the "Select" softkey and then pushes the "Join" softkey to  make the call into a conference.
7 - The receptionist can then either say to the Caller and Person  B that they're now connected or simply hangs up to exit the call.
    HTH

  • My Apple TV is having problems with slideshows for photos synced from iTunes. How can I make it play thew whole slideshow without starting the loop again half way through?

My Apple TV randomly returns to the beginning in the middle of the slideshow for no reason. I don't habve the photos on shuffle
I started the slide show many times and somtimes it got through 20 photos, other times 50. Then all of a sudden, it goes back to the beginning and starts again. It's so frustrating as there is no reason for this and it doesn't loop back to the start on the same photo each time. I have about 350 photos in the album and they all loaded fine as thumbnails before I played the slideshow.
    Can anyone help please?
    Thanks, Adam

Have solved my own problem. My PC sits on the floor so I have a four-port USB hub on my desktop with one port in use. I use one of the other three ports for USB-related task. As I was shutting down for the night I had a - what turned out to be inspired - thought about whether there was an adequate power supply from the hub. I then tried the iPod USB connection directly into the front of my machine and everything worked. It seems that an inadequate power supply was the cause of this strange set of conditions.

  • How can I play multiple files without having to click "Menu," find the ...

    ...file, click "Play," etc.?
Anyone? I have ATV2 and really like it so far. Any way to queue files?

And... if you set up playlist in iTunes you can mix media as long as you use AirPlay.
I have a Smart Playlist (Movie Night) that starts with a movie trailer (podcast), next up is a short cartoon (TV show), and then a double feature of movies I haven't seen yet.
If I pick this play list from ATV2 then only the items from the primary menu item show up (i.e. Movies, TV, etc).
However, if I watch ATV2 via iTunes AirPlay then everything flows along just like in the olden days!
    Too cool!

  • Can N95-8GB play multiple video clips without inte...

I bought the N95 8gb few days ago. Then transfer some of my MV to its Video Centre. When I played those MV in N95, I need to click the arrow button to switch to the next song or previously song. Is there any way to create a video playlist in this phone? It does bother me so much, because I need to click it to switch to the next. Pain of the **bleep**!

CorePlayer allows you to create video playlists (www.coreplayer.com). You just select the files you want and it will play them in loop.
I think it's not possible with the built in Video Center.

  • Can I have multiple iPhoto Libraries?

My iPhoto library is getting quite large as it becomes the sole management tool for all my family & friends events (and sometimes extended family).
I've recently had twins so I've been taking hundreds of photos (and movies) of them and have created an event for each day (up to 2 weeks) then an event for each week since they were born.
I do like to have events sorted cronologically, but this means that other events - such as the imported photos from a family members visit or a friends wedding - fall in the middle of the baby photos.
I'd like to keep using iPhoto Events as my main tool for photo management as I make good use of the galleries and books etc, but is there a way I could have a second library which, say, just had my children's events in it, and another for friends and family events?
    Thanks for any pointers.

I find sending lots of photos is the only way to keep the grandparents at bay..!
Careful there buckaroo. We grandparents stick together. I may have to notify them of this thread. Congrats.
I think you'll find iPhoto Library Manager a very useful tool. It's a breeze to manage multiple libraries and copy Events or Albums between them while keeping keywords, comments and titles intact.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.
