Can I prevent iCloud Drive uploading video. I only want to sync photos etc.

Okay, so I have iCloud Drive. I would like to use this feature for everything I do EXCEPT uploading and syncing videos. I do quite a bit of video stuff on my iPhone 6 Plus but as I always dump the content onto my Mac and it's not something I need to share between devices (I upload finished videos to Vimeo for that) is there away of selecting what iCloud Drive uploads and syncs. This is a very basic feature that I am pretty sure Apple wouldn't have overlooked, but I cant find out how to stop my video content from uploading.
Cheers in advance.

Enabling iCloud drive does not affect syncing contacts, calendars, reminders, etc. It will affect data used by apps such as Pages, Numbers, 1Password, etc.

  • Can't enable iCloud Drive on Win 8.1

I can't enable iCloud Drive on my Win 8.1 PC.  I tick the box, and Apply, a window pops up requesting my password.  Then, the tick box appears ticked, then immediately un-ticks.
    Can anyone help, please?

I have a sneaking suspicion that this is related to network, as I am trying this through a work network managed centrally. I connected through my iPad's hotspot, and could enable iCloud, and all the folders are showing. Once connected back onto the work network, nothing downloads (or is doing it excruciatingly slowly).
Interestingly I can add stuff to the Windows iCloud drive, and these upload and show up elsewhere in iDevices, but nothing appears to be happening the other way...is it normal for a locked down network to allow access out but not in? Any ideas for getting round it (DropBox and OneDrive work fine on the same network)?

  • Can you share iCloud drive storage with family members?

Seems like this would be a common question but Apple Support search came up empty. So, can you share iCloud drive storage with family members?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can share they space if they all use the same Apple ID, but that's not really a good idea, because you'll then share contacts, calendars, photos etc etc.

  • Can not access iCloud drive from iPad

can not access iCloud drive from iPad

iOS 8/8.1 does not have an iCloud Drive app (that works like OneDrive or Dropbox, etc..). Instead you have to open the application first (ie. Numbers) which will show you your iCloud drive files that you can open and work with.
This is the exact reason I am currently migrating all of my documents BACK to OneDrive. If I don't know what the filetype is of a file that I am looking to open (ie. Word document or PDF) then I'm screwed. At least with OneDrive (or DropBox, or Google Drive, etc.) I can browse my files from my mobile device.

  • Can I move iCloud Drive folder to my Time Capsule?

Can I move iCloud Drive folder to my Time Capsule?
I have 250Gb storage on my Macbook, but plan to by the 500Gb storage plan from Apple. To do that I'd need to used the iCloud Drive folder on an larger external hard drive, instead of my own Macbook...
Does anyone knows if that can be done?
I also use Drop Box and it's local drive can be 'move' to an external HD easily...
    Tks!

The iCloud Drive folder is is stored in your user library, in the folder ~/Library/Mobile Documents
If you want to move this folder to an external drive, you would have to relocate your home folder there. Moving the home folder is supported, but not moving parts of the user library.
But that would not be practical on a portable Mac to move the home folder to an external drive, because you could not log in without connecting the external drive.

    Hi ..
Unfortunately, you're stuck between a rock and a hard place until Yosemite is released this fall. Hopefully sometime in October.

  • Can I use iCloud Drive online only?

Can I use iCloud Drive online only? I don't want to store everything on my macbook pro. I only have 128 GB SSD and I don't want to fill it up with photos, music, etc. I still want to see everything in finder in the iCloud Drive folder, but I don't want it to be saved on my macbook.

Yes I know, but I want it to be used as external storage, not something where I store copies of stuff that I have already on my macbook
But iCloud Drive is not an external storage. It is a common storage that is synced and shared between all connected devices, and it is always available, even when you are not connected to the internet.
What you want to do is not possible with iCloud Drive.

  • How can I prevent iCloud login requests?

On OS X 10.10.1, on every login I get two requests to login to iCloud. See the screen cap (email address obscured):
How can I prevent iCloud login requests appearing?
Is it a bug? I'm not an iCloud user. It's annoying and slows down the boot process.

It's a really bad idea to post your email address, even in an image - it's an invitation to spam - and I've asked the Hosts to remove it.

  • Is there a way to prevent iCloud from duplicating songs downloaded if I manually sync my iPhone with my PC?

Is there a way to prevent iCloud from duplicating songs downloaded if I manually sync my iPhone with my PC?

You can avoid duplicates by only syncing with iCloud (Wi-Fi) or iTunes but not both.

  • Is there a way to update my itouch 4.2.1 on my iMac 10.7.2 so that I can use iCloud on the touch?  I want to sync my calendar.

Is there a way to update my itouch 4.2.1 on my iMac 10.7.2 so that I can use iCloud on the touch?  I want to sync my calendar.

It depends which generation of iPod Touch you have.
The 2nd generation Touch can only use iOS 4.2.1 as the latest version. You can identify the 2nd gen Touch from the model number etched into the back of the case, it's A1288.
The 3rd gen Touch (and above) can install iOS 5. The 3rd gen Touch has model number A1318 etched into the back of the case.
(The 4th gen has a camera, front and back.)
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353for help in dentifying iPod models. If yours is 2nd gen, there is no way to update past iOS 4.2.1

  • Can I use iCloud on my computer? I want to back up my iMac and restore it since it is running so slow.

can I use iCloud on my computer? I want to back up my iMac and restore it since it is running so slow.

You need to be running Lion (10.7.x) to have iCloud run. Here are the system requirements for Lion:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
2GB of memory (4GB strongly recommended)
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
If your current iMac has 4GB of RAM then you can upgrade to Lion via the Mac App store and then use iCloud. However iCloud is not a backup system so please read up on what iCloud is designed for. To backup your system really all you need is an external HD and you can use Time Machine which is built into your system. Here is the Time Machine Tutorial to learn how to start.

  • HT4915 How do you stop syncing address and calendar to iCloud? I only want to sync  from my computer to iPhone.

How do you stop syncing address and calendar to iCloud? I only want to sync  from my computer to iPhone.  This is because I cannont upgrade to Lion and I do not want to get duplicate contacts when I sync from the computer 10.6.8 to my iPhone iOS5.  You should not upgrade to Lion upless you have 4GB of ram. Lion does not support rosita so all your old programs will not funtion and you have to repurchase all old software the is working fine.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Settings > iCloud, turn off contact and calendar syncing.

PLug it into yrou computer to sync/back it up.
Is it set to back up to iCloud now?
Or do you have wifi backup enabled in iTunes?
Plug it in while on wifi and it will automatically back up.
