Can I print 5x7 with iPhoto 6?

I have iPhoto 2 now, and it does not allow me to print 5x7. I custom create 5x7 paper size in page setup, constrain my photo to 5x7, but absolutely cannot successfully print a 5x7. I've seen other people post about this same problem.
My question is, if I drop the $80 on iLife'06, will I be able to print 5x7? I'd hate to order it only to find it doesn't help.

I've never had any difficulty printing 5X7s but that's a standard size with my print driver. I want to tell you that you'll have no problems but I'm a bit worried that your printer might be a limiting factor.

There is no Apple print service for iBooks, and iPhoto can also only print photo books created in iPhoto.
Print your iBook to pdf. Then you have several option:
Save the pdf to a thumbsdrive/stick and take it to the nearest print shop close to your home.
Search online for "self publishing" services available in your country.
Recreate your book as an iPhoto Book. This will be a lot of work, since iPhoto's templates are more suitable for Picture books than books with lots of formatted text. To speed things up, you could use "Preview" to export the pages of your book as jpegs (high quality, at least 300 dpi) and add themas full-page photos to a new PhotoBook. This can be sent to apple for printing.
But the first two options would be much less trouble and probably be less expensive.

Can't purchase photobook with iPhoto 7

I spent hours creating a photobook but when I went to buy it it says sorry for the inconvenience, but you can't do this with iPhoto 7 - you need to upgrade to iPhoto 9. But when I try to update iPhoto it says sorry, you need I OS 10.9 or higher. I currently have OS X 10.8.5, but can't see 10.9 in the App store. I really want to purchase my photobook!

Then you need to either
1. Upgrade to OS 10.9 - which is free and thereafter purchase iPhoot 11 on the App Store
or
2. Purchase an iLife 11 install disk on Ebay or Amazon.

To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

Printing problems with iPhoto

I have been trying to print 5x7 pictures (or other various sizes) from my iPhoto library, but the printer is printing the actual iPhoto page (i.e., the menu column on the left which includes the listing of events, albums, etc. is actually printing along with any photo thumbnails that can fit on the page) Does anyone know if this is a printer problem or and iPhoto problem?

If you see the actual iPhoto window with the sidebar and everything when you print, that would quality as "super weird" in my book. I'm assuming when you go to File > Print you see "iPhoto" in the upper left hand corner right next to the Apple yes?
Lets try the basics:
Ensure all your software is up to date (Apple Menu > Software Update).
Remove the following to the trash and restart the computer and try again:
Home > Library > Caches (I remove the whole folder. It will be re-generated upon restart.)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iPhoto (There may be more than one. Remove them all.)

Printing problem with iPhoto 9.5.1 under Mavericks 10.9.3

When trying to print even a single photo from iPhoto, the printer hangs after competing about 10% of the job.
The printer is an HP Deskjet F4580. It still works fine from other apps.

iPhoto is still active and I can do other things with it. The job has been sent tothe printer so I guess it's the printer where the problme lies, or the communication between the Mac and the printer (which is wireless, though that shouldn't make a difference).

Today I've replaced my Netgear Rangemax 240 wireless router by a brand new Apple Time Capsule (dual band), but now I can't print any more with my HP OfficeJet 6410 All-in-One WiFi printer. Whatever magic makes HP wireless printers work is intolerant of changes like this. I think you'll have to reinstall the printer using HP's installation program. Here's a link if you don't have it:

My photolibrary can not be open with iphoto or rebuild in iphoto library manager?

I can not open my Photolibrary in iphoto, the whole database seem to be one XML file, I whent to apple support and purchase iphoto librabry manager and here I can see an index of my photo librabry with event and album index and number of photos. However when I use the rebuild function I get the following error and the rebuild library is empty.
"An error occurred trying to open the database at /Users/Desktop/iPhoto Library old/Database/Library.apdb (14)"
I have also tried to import or drag the library into iphoto but this doesn't work either.
Please help I have no back up on the last photo

Do you have a backup of the library with all the photos except for the last import? If so bring it into the Pictures folder (rename the existing Library so it doesn't get overwritten) and open with iPhoto. Make sure it's working correctly and has all of the photos except for that last import/event.
Once you have the backup library up and running move the old library to the Desktop and open it with the Finder:

Locate the Originals folder (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters folder (iPhoto 11) and move it to the Desktop. Then look inside and try to find the sub folder for the last imported set of photos. When you find it drag it into the open iPhoto application window to import them into the library.

Can I print book with text blocks instead of photos?

I have spent all day creating a book to print which included a photo on front, poems in place of photos on all pages (which I'd previously made into jpgs by creating layers in photoshop). I get to the ordering stage and I get an error window saying:
DEFAULT TEXT: your book appears to have default text that has not yet been edited. Printed books will not include this text. Do you want to continue with your order?
SO what does the above mean exactly?
And is it not possible to print text pages instead of photos?
Iphoto doesn't appear to give an open to type text on each page, but maybe iphoto 6 (iLife) does???
And how come it's not possible to ship my order internationally?

I haven't printed out an iPhoto book myself, but the message you are getting seems to indicate that you did not fill in some parts of page templates. If so, then those parts will print blank even though iPhoto shows them containing default text. You probably wanted them blank anyway, though.
As for using iPhoto to print out a book with only one picture, that is probably doing things the hard way. If you want to print a book of text, there are now web options to do so costing about the same as an iPhono book. I don't think iPhoto is going to add templates sson for non-photo books.
As for overseas shipping, that is probably an issue of duties and shipping costs. Many US sellers on the Web will ship only to the US or perhaps Canada.

HT4356 What about the iPad notes. Can we print them with Airprint?

They say we can use Airprint with Safari, Pages, Mail, etc. But no mention of Notes. Not mentionning we can't either. Can we? My dad had a Canon printer compatible with Airprint. Both the updates has been made on the iPad and Canon software. When trying to print it says they can't find the Airprint. "Aucune imprimante Airprint détectée", to use the exact same word.

If he has a Canon printer that is compatible with Airprint, and he has upgraded the printer Firmware, you should be able to print. In fact, you should be able to print emails, web pages, notes, AND photos through Airprint. The Canon app should add more capability when printing photos (e.g., choice of paper types, paper sizes, image sizes, etc) that Airprint does not offer, so the Canon app is good to have for photos.
Make sure his iPad is connected to the same wifi network as the printer.
Try turning the printer off then on again. This will reset it.
What kind of a router is he using? Airprint needs Bonjour to talk to the router. There may be a firmware upgrade for that too.

I've been trying to sync the pictures on my iPhone with iPhoto but I keep getting a pop-up message that says:m"Photos are being imported to the photo library. Please wait while import is complete. " Unfortunately nothing else happens....I can't update my iPhone to the new iOS because I don't have enough memory (the file takes up too much space anyway) and...Help!

Launch iTunes. Menu. iTunes>Preferences>Devices. Check the box at the bottom. Then connect the iPhone, get the photos and after you disconnect uncheck that box.
