Can I print contact sheets from Iphoto or aperture with file names?

I can not figure out nor am I sure it can be done with these programs but if someone out there can tell me how I would be very happy. I have several jobs I need contacts on I have been printing contact sheets and then handwriting the file numbers. To old fashion for me. HELP

1. In the browser pane in Aperture, select the images you need.
2. File>Print...
3. On the left-hand side of the print dialog, click on 'Sample Contact Sheet Preset'.
4. In the layout options there is a drop-down menu for which metadata set you want to show below the images. You may get away with using 'Name Only' which gives you the current Version Name, otherwise you may have to make a new metadata set* containing just the filename.

  • Unable to print Contact Sheets from iPhoto

    Hi there,
Since installing Lion 10.7.5 on my Mac Pro I no longer get the option to print Contact Sheets from iPhoto. I'm running quite an old version of it I think (Version 6.0.6), however this was no problem before the upgrade.
Can anyone suggest a solution for this?
    Thanks in advance.

I just fired up my iPhoto 6.0.6 under Mt. Lion and I have no contact option in that version either.  You'll have to upgrade to at least iPhoto 7 (08) in order to get contact sheets back.  So you might as well upgrade to the latest iPhoto from the App Store.
If you also want the latest versions of iWeb and iDVD (which have been discontinued by Apple) you'll have to purchase a copy of the iLife 11 disc from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: iLife 11.

  • Can't print contact sheet in iPhoto 11

iPhoto 11 9.4.3: OS 10.8.5; iMac mid 2011; Epson WP-4020 printer. All of a sudden, I cannot print a contact sheet from iPhoto. Had no problem doing so before. I now get error message from printer "Paper out, incorrect loading, or paper jam," none of which apply. No problem printing individual photos or anything else. Other posts have indicated a problem with a theme not being selected and to select one after clicking on a theme button. I cannot find the theme button to check this out. Where is this button and would this solve my problem?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.

  • Printing contact sheet from iPhoto

How can I print a contact sheet from iPhoto that retains the order of photos in my album?
I've placed the photos of which I want to make a contact sheet in their own album.  I've organized them according to how I'd like them to print.  However, when I go to print/contact sheet/custom to set the number of images per page and hit the print button, the photos are reorganized according the the main photo folder into which the images were originally imported - that is to say, by date order.

My printer does support landscape and portrait printing. It is the latest version of iPhoto 9.5.3 that only offers a minimal choice of printer, paper size and paper type. There are no formatting options available other than "Fit, Fill, Custom, 20x25cm, 13x18cm, 10x15cm and contact sheet". Another example of Appple degrading software to make it iOS compatible!
Perhaps Apple should be reading what their customers are complaining about and do something to restore the quality of their downgraded software.

  • Can't print contact sheets on Epson R1800 with LR3

I upgraded to Lightroom 3 a few months ago and can't print contact sheets on 13x16" sheets using my Epson R1800 (it worked fine before in Lightroom 2).
I have this problem on both an iMac and Macbook Pro, both running the latest version of Snow Leopard.
I've tried re-installing the drivers, open the program in 32 bit mode and no joy.
I can use the Print Module no problem and can print 4x6 single prints or even do a 2x2 contact sheet on a 4x6. I can also print a 7x7 contact sheet on a 13x19" sheet using draft mode, but if I try to use profiles (the images are way too dark in draft mode), LR will spend a few minutes rendering the images, while this is happening the job appears in the Epson utility, but once LR has finished rendering, the progress bar disappears along with the job in the Epson utility and nothing happens?
    Anybody experience something similar?
    Thanks in advance for replying.
    John

Print Drivers on OS X aren't the same as on Windows...
You can't use an Epson driver made for USB-only Epson printers, because they wrote the driver to only work via USB. To use the CUPS Windows printer protocol, you need a driver written to use CUPS. The Gutenprint drivers Apple included in OS X are CUPS drivers. An update is here:
    http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php
If your specific model isn't yet supported, try other model drivers.

  • I have Iphoto library in Aperture.  Can I move the projects from iPhoto to aperture project by dragging?

I have Iphoto library in Apeture.  Can I move the projects from iPhoto to aperture project by dragging (within the apeture program)? Is this making a duplicate of all the photos? It seems to work??  It then leaves my Iphoto library in apeture empty.  I would like to do this just to reorganize the photos between the two.  I feel that I may have doubles and would like all pictures of one year in same project in Aperture instead of going between both.

Tell us more, please. I am not quite sure, what you want to do and how you are using Aperture and iPhoto?
Which versions of Aperture and iPhoto are you using?
Do you have separate photo libraries for Aperture and iPhoto, or are you opening your iPhoto libraries in Aperture?
I have Iphoto library in Apeture.
Did you import an iPhoto library into Aperture?  And now you are seeing a section "iPhoto Library"  in the Aperture projects list in the Inspector?
Events and albums you imported from iPhoto (Import > Library > Some iPhoto Library) will be imported as Aperture projects and albums, and they will behave exactly as other Aperture projects and albums.
Can I move the projects from iPhoto to aperture project by dragging (within the aperture program)? Is this making a duplicate of all the photos? It seems to work??  It then leaves my Iphoto library in apeture empty.
You can drag images from any project in Aperture to other projects and that will move (not duplicate) the images and all its versions to that project. And when you drag all images from the project to another project, the remaining project will be empty and can be deleted.  (Caution: Photos that you have hidden in iPhoto will not be visible in Aperture. If you are not sure, if you have hidden photos, open the library again in iPhoto and unhide all photos).
I feel that I may have doubles and would like all pictures of one year in same project in Aperture instead of going between both.
There should be no problem with moving all photos from the same years to the same projects. You can also drag projects in "Projects" view on top of each other. That will merge them.
You could also define smart albums in Aperture to search for images taken at a specific period of time:
File > New > Smart album:
Then, in the Smart Settings HUD, click "Add Rule" and add a Date or Calendar rule.
For example, to find all images taken in 2010, use a rule "Date > Capture Year is > 2010"
To search for Photos taken at a specific date or at several dates, use a "calendar" rule. This way, you do nat have to type the date, but can pick it from a mini calendar.

  • Can't print in color from iPhoto

When I try to print a photo from iPhoto, using my color printer, I get a black & white print (not even greyscale). I can print in color from other applications, just not from iPhoto (but I think I used to print in color from iPhoto). Any clues out there?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. First try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder and try again. Next, remove the printer from the Print and Fax preference pane and reinstall. Also, depending on your printer brand, check the Apple Downloads page for the new printer drivers offered by Apple. Those might help.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Moving from iPhoto to Aperture with limited drive space

My biggest concern is the lack of space on my MacBook Air.
I have already purchased and download Aperture.
In the Import window I see the "move files" radiobutton and the "copy files" radiobutton under the "Store Files:" dropdown,  but they are disabled.
As I understand if I just import my IPhoto Library, it will duplicate the files into the Aperture Library, and that wont work since my current library (iPhoto) is way bigger than my freespace in disk.
Buying external drive is not an option now since I im saving to buy a NAS that will solve my space problems in the near future.
What i would like to achieve is just to move all my iPhoto Library to Aperture Library. I wont use iPhoto anymore.
Can someone help me with this? Im really looking forward to use Aperture....

    Hello Richieto,
I have already purchased and download Aperture.
In the Import window I see the "move files" radiobutton and the "copy files" radiobutton under the "Store Files:" dropdown,  but they are disabled. What i would like to achieve is just to move all my iPhoto Library to Aperture Library. I wont use iPhoto anymore.
Set the "storeFiles" selector to "in their current location".
Have you seen this support article. Moving from iPhoto to Aperture - How to move http://www.apple.com/aperture/iphoto-to-aperture/how.html
If you follow these instructions, you will import your iPhoto Library by referencing - that means, all images remain in your iPhoto library; your iPhoto Library will remain unchanged, but Aperture references the files in in the iPhoto Library. This will save disk space; your images will be stored only once: Set the "Store Files" selector to "in their current location".
If you decide to do it this way, make sure you have a working backup of your iPhoto library. Also remember at all times that your master image files now are managed independently by two applications, that do know nothing of what the other app does and are not synchronized. So you must not move the iPhoto library, and you must not delete any images that are shared by both applications. Other than that this way to import from iPhoto will be the best deal, if you need to be frugal with disk space.
What i would like to achieve is just to move all my iPhoto Library to Aperture Library. I wont use iPhoto anymore.
Once you are happy with  the way Aperture handles the images you can copy your iPhoto library to a backup location and consolidate the master image files (File -> consolidate) by moving them from your iPhoto Library into the Aperture Library. This will delete them from iPhoto and store them inside the Aperture Library package. Then delete the iPhoto Library after testing that the consolidation was successful.
I im saving to buy a NAS that will solve my space problems in the near future.
Just a caution - you should not use the NAS to store the Aperture library - an Aperture library needs to bestored on a local volume formatted MacOS X extended.

  • Can't print contact sheet (was Ron A B)

How do I print a contact sheet in PSE11?

What I would try at this point is using the installer to uninstall Elements. You choose Remove Components rather than Install components when you get to that screen. Then create a new admin user (system preferences>user accounts, and be sure to turn on the box to let the new user administer the computer). Log in as that user and run the install from there. If PSE works okay, then you can go back to your regular account and delete the new user. Don't forget to repair permissions after installing.

  • Printing Contact Sheet - Title Does Not Move With Margin

When printing a contact sheet (bloody thing won't save but that's already reported), I increase the left margin to 2cm to suit the folder that I use. If I have Title ticked in Page options, the Title remains in the same position which means it is obscured by the folder's border. The same thing happens with page numbers if you increase the right margin.
Is there any way to change the location of the Title and Page fields so that they can be aligned with the margins.
Also, it would be nice to change the fonts, alignments and sizes of these header items.

This is not an ideal solution but in playing around with logos in the header, it occurred to me that you could adjust your logo to include the necessary blank space to move the Title to the right.
Still not perfect and it doesn't address the sizing, alignment issues but slightly better.

  • Transfer photos from iphoto to Aperture with snow leopard, how?

    hi all
how can i transfer photos from iphoto (in power book G5) To Aperture ( in MacBook Pro 17" with snow leopard), with same albums arrangement???? thanks

    yi1gaka wrote:
1- the size of iphoto library is 6GB, but in aperture its 11GB, y?
I think it's because you have the original images plus copies with any adjustments you made in iPhoto. It could also have to do with Aperture generating Previews.
2- now to copy the another iphoto library from the second old machine, i will replace its library with the iphoto library of new machine then copy it in aperture library, and after that i can delete the iphoto library to save hard space. is that correct? thanks
Just make sure you keep the copies on the old machines until you've backed up your new Aperture Library and made sure that everything is there. IMPORTANT: make sure that you chose to copy the images into your Aperture Library instead of keeping them in their current location. If you left them in the iPhoto Library and you delete that library, you delete your images!

  • Moving from iPhoto to Aperture with 15,000+ photos

    Hi all.
I have iPhoto11 set up as manage mode for 15,000+ photos (around 350 "events"). I was having issues with iPhoto hanging up and being reallly slow when scrolling up and down through the Event layout even with the "thumbnails" or event previews minimized as much as possible. At first I though I might need more ram, so I went from 2 gigs to 8gigs, but not much of a change. Another discussion board advised I switch to Aperture3 due to its ability to manage larger libraries such as mine.
So I've installed A3, and proceded to "import" my iPhoto library. My questions are..
    1) I "TimeMachine" my iPhoto lib., therefore I have a ~24gig iphoto "file" on the laptop and backed up to external drive. When I "imported" to A3, A3 created a ~24gig "file" as well. However, when I opened a photo in A3 and do a "locate photos on..or locate file, etc ...it points to the iPhoto lib. What the? Why not point within the A3 "managed file"??
    2) In iphoto if I remove red-eye or crop a photo, there is the master untouched photo and the edited version. What gets imported over to A3?
    3) Should I have exported iPhoto to reference then imported those reference photos as managed in A3?
    Thanks

iPhoto is good for 250,000 images. Usual causes for slowness in iPhoto include damaged cache files, HD issues, and even corrupted pref files.

How does Time Machine relate to this question? When you imported the iPhoto Library where did you tell Aperture to store the files?

    Both

No, you need to make that choice in the import dialogue

  • HT204364 Can I print my pictures from iPhoto?

I want to print some photos, but I get the message that I need to install a theme first.  How do I do that?

    What is your iPhoto version?
If it is iPhoto 9.4.2, installed from the AppStore, just reinstall it from the AppStore. In that case the themes are stored inside iPhoto's application bundle.
If you have a different version, post back with the exact version number.

iPhoto will not allow photo printing unless a theme is installed. Never heard of such nonsense. What is a workaouound, or a fix.

Never heard of searching either, I see.

  • Can't get any video from iphoto to sync with itouch

I have many videos in iPhoto, all imported from a camera.  I wanted to sync these videos to my iTouch, but when I use the "include video" option in the iTunes photo sync, none of the videos came up or was synced. How do I do it?

I am really frustrated with this "exclusive" thing with Apple.
Its not a matter of exclusivity and its not just with Apple. Its a matter of a device with a highly streamlined OS that cannot accommodate every format without expanding to be the size of a full-size computer with a full size OS.  In addition, some formats "belong" to another company. Meaning that company owns the right to that format.  So while you may have a file in that format, it actually belongs to another company (Sony, Microsoft, Panasonic, etc.) so Apple would have to pay royalties to that company so that it can have "permission" to even open that file type.
For example...AVIs (a format developed by and licensed by Microsoft...and not free): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_Video_Interleave
If you are running Mac OS X 10.6.7:
Once you have the video on your desktop, right + Click or ctrl + click on the file and choose open with > Quicktime Player X.
Then go to Share > iTunes and choose the iPad size.  This will convert the file on the fly to the correct format for iPad.
Sync the desired movie to iPad.
    Cheers.
