Can I "Print to PDF" with Adobe PDF Pack?

ONe of the reasons I purchased PDF pack is because it says that I can "print to PDF" which is said to mean that when I go to print something that one of my choices of printer besides my HP should be Adobe. I don't see anything in my drop down of printers that wasn't there before I purchased the PDF PACK. I have rebooted and everything and still nothing is there. Can you help?

Hi geolog12 and remedy111,
If you're on Windows, you can use the CreatePDF Desktop Printer to "print" to PDF from almost any application. You'll find a link to the installer on the Create PDF page when you're logged in to the PDF Pack account.
Here are the instructions for installing it: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat-com/kb/using-pdfpack.html#main_adobePDF_desktop_printer

  • Can't "Print" to disk with Adobe PDF 8.0 Printer

If I want to create a PDF, I select "Print" from the File menu.
In the Print Dialog box I select "Adobe PDF 8.0" as the printer.
Then click on the "Print" button and the "Save As" dialog appears.
Select "Desktop" and click "Save" button.
It acts like its "printing" but nothing happens, and the "printed" pdf never appears on the desktop.
Results are similar regardless of the application I start in.
    I'm using:
    Mac OS 10.6.5
    Adobe Acrobat Pro 8.2.5
I've uninstalled and re-installed a fresh copy of Adobe Acrobat Pro 8.0 (then did all of the upgrade patches to 8.2.5)
Where do I start to troubleshoot this?
    Thanks.

FIXED IT!!!<br /><br />I worked out that all the problems came down to a single file in my preferences: ~/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.print.AdobePDF8/com.adobe.print.AdobePDF8.Defaults.xml<br /><br />now I opened it up and compared it to a version that was working...<br /><br />>** Excerpt from not working version **<br /><br />><dict><br />                    <key>com.adobe.print.AdobePDF.PrintSettings.PDFJobOptionsPath</key> <br />                    <string>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PDF/Settings/Test(1).joboptions</string><br /><br />>** Excerpt from working version **<br /><br />><dict><br />                    <key>com.adobe.print.AdobePDF.PrintSettings.PDFJobOptionsPath</key> <br />                    <string>default</string><br /><br />I think what was going on was that the printer was trying to print to job options that either dont exist or dont work... It would stop the queue and also the printer didnt even have any PDF setting in the print dialog box. Now it works fine.<br /><br />So all you would have to do is delete the file, delete the printer from the print manager and then repair the printer from Acrobat and I should work fine!

  • Firefox 4 beta 12 can't print a page to adobe pdf printer unlike ealier versions

instead of bookmarking a page, I'd print to adobe pdf printer so I can always access offline but now it is no longer possible with firefox 4 beta 12. at first I thought adobe acrobat professional was corrupted so I repaired it - but I still had the same problem. I have installed acrobat professional 8 but nothing has really changed.
    Mark.

This nasty bug is a known problem caused by the beta 12 update. You could wait til' the RC comes out, or you could grab one of the latest nightly builds availible here that fix this problem: ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/nightly/latest-mozilla-central/
Just a note though, nightly versions of firefox are generally less stable than betas or releases. I am waiting for the Release Candidate to come out myself. (Should be early next week)

  • Resizing PDFs with Adobe PDF Pack

Our office uses Adobe PDF Pack for combining PDFs and conversions. However, when we send reports via email our PDF attachments are too large for the email to be sent.  Is there a way to resize the file using Adobe PDF Pack, or do we need to buy Adobe Acrobat (I know using Adobe Acrobat to resize you do the PDF Optimizer)?
    Thank you in advance.

Yes, you'll need Acrobat Pro. (which has the optimizer) to reduce the file size of a PDF.

  • Can't open pdfs with Adobe Acrobat X

I can't open pdfs with Adobe Acrobat X. I get this message:
Warning: Distiller will not process .Log, .PDF or .JDF file extensions
What do I need to do to be able to open .pdf files? I could open them previously.

What are you getting the message in response to? Was this a creation of a PDF that resulted in the message? What are you using Distiller for? Distiller can only open PS and EPS files for processing to create a PDF.
PDF files are opened in Acrobat. For opening PDFs, Distiller has nothing to do with the opening. So I really have no idea. It sounds like you may just be having a creation error since you mentioned a log file. If you were creating a PDF, have you checked the LOG file for the errors? The log file is usually located where you were going to create the PDF, but is created as Distiller processes the file (part of the general Acrobat creation process) and is deleted if successful.
If you were trying to create, go back to the original application and print to file with the Adobe PDF printer. Then open that file in Distiller to create a PDF. Any errors will be shown in the window and an indication if the PDF was created or not.

  • Print issue with Adobe PDF reader print in IE9

We are unable to print Brava PDF documents with Adobe PDF reader activeX enabled in IE9. The same runs fine in Chrome with  Adobe PDF reader activeX enabled.
    I noticed Chrome uses
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\AIR\nppdf32.dll, whereas IE9 uses-C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Acrobat\ActiveX\AcroPDF.dll.
    Has anyone faced this issue?

Can you print other pdf files from within IE9? Can you download the files and print them directly from Reader on you computer? Please list the steps you are using to print the pdf from IE9.

  • Unable to print doc as .pdf with Adobe reader XI

Unable to print doc as .pdf with Adobe reader XI in windows 7. Tried uninstalling the software and also repair with same result. When clicked on print doc the option to print as .pdf cannot be seen. It just does not appear in the printer option. Help pls.

ya downloaded the trial version of acrobat. I guess it was free earlier and never faced a problem.
Acrobat has NEVER been free. Reader (formerly called "Acrobat Reader") has always been free, but the Creation/Editing software has always had a price tag.

Can I merge comments from 2 pdfs with Adobe Acrobat online?  If so,  how?

    Hi gignc,
You can't merge comments using any of the Acrobat.com online services (ExportPDF, Adobe PDF Pack, and so on). But you can with an Acrobat subscription. Please see Adobe Acrobat X Standard * Publish comments from other reviewers from instructions.

  • Printing current pdf to Adobe PDF printer

I have Windows XP and Adobe Acrobat 10 on my computer. I am able to take a 60 page pdf file from Internet Explorer, hit print to Adobe PDF, choose pages 4-6 to print, rename the file and save this document to my desktop. The pdf pops up and it's just 3 pages now instead of 60.
My colleague has Windows 7 and Acrobat 9.5.2 on her computer. She is not able to do this. When she takes the 60 page document and chooses to print pages 4-6 to Adobe PDF, the document freezes. The "Save as PDF File" opens up but it won't let you save the file or cancel out the of the window. It just has a circular arrow that continues to go around and around. The only way to get out is to open the Task Manager and close all the Internet Explorer windows.
I realize that she can save the pdf, extract the pages she wants, and then save the document, but if I am able to print a current pdf to Adobe pdf printer, then she should be able to as well.
Any ideas what causes this problem? Windows 7? Her version of Acrobat? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi Bill,
    Thanks for responding.
I finally figured out the problem on my own and thought I would share with everyone else. My colleague's machine had both Acrobat and Adobe PDF printer, but she didn't have Adobe Reader. I downloaded Reader, attempted to print to Adobe PDF and it worked!

  • Cannot print directly to the Adobe PDF printer

Hi. I cannot print directly to the Adobe PDF printer since receiving my new computer. I use Acrobat 9 (updated to the latest patch today) on a 64-bit Win 7 computer. A colleague has the same set up and she can print to the Adobe PDF printer without any issues. Fyi, I have tried printing from Word, my email program, & webpages with the same result, which is that the document goes into the printing queue and then the process just stops. This wasn't an issue on my previous computer running the same Acrobat version but under Win XP.
I have updated to the latest patch, and I have tried a repair installation of Acrobat with no affect. What am I missing?
    Thanks.

Please check that when you print to PDF, the Save as dialog might goes in background. Watch for blinking icon in the taskbar at the bottom. Click the icon and give output PDF name.
If this is the case then this is known problem at MS end. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2567869
This problem comes when printing from 32bit apps on 64bit OS.

  • How do I edit a PDF file with Adobe PDF Pack?

How do I edit a PDF file with Adobe PDF Pack?

Well, you don't. Editing a PDF is a difficult and fraught business even with the most expensive software.
But PDF Pack lets you export to Word; then often you can edit in Word. Now you can make a new PDF. It might look like the original, or it might not. If small changes matter you might be out of luck. ON NO ACCOUNT USE THIS FOR GOVERNMENT FORMS.

  • How do I remove a blank line in a pdf with  adobe pro XI?

How do I remove a blank line in a pdf with adobe pro XI?
Can I combine text blocks into one paragraph that are now given line by line?
Is there a way to add a paragraph to an existing pdf and have the remaining text flow to the next pages?

You can't, no, and no. Acrobat is not a word processor, and trying to use it as if it is will lead to enormous frustration and disappointment. Maybe you need to convert this document to Word if you want to do this sort of editing, but don't expect fancy layout to be preserved.

    Hello,
How can I give a answer back in the discussion on Adobe.com?
    I don’t see any link?
    1.      We have a subscription.
    2.      Im converting a newsletter from the web to PDF.
    3.      Sometimes I put a weblink behind the image in the newsletter. Most of the time PDF wont take the links behind the image.
    Only the tekstlinks are OK.

  • Printing selected pages of a PDF to Adobe PDF

I have Acrobat 9, Windows 7, and was happily creating new files from existing PDFs by printing selected pages to Adobe PDF. After having done this a hundred times or so, the process stopped working. I got this message: "When you create a PostScript file you must rely on system fonts and use document fonts. Please go to the printer properties, 'Adobe PDF Settings' page and turn OFF the option 'Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts.'" Then I get a message, "The document could not be printed." Then I get a message, "There were no pages selected to print."
First, I wasn't having any problems up to this point; second, I'm not trying to create a postscript file, I'm just trying to print to Adobe PDF (as in, just page 3 of a six-page document."
    Any suggestions? Thanks!

I downloaded the Arcobat SDK and now learning to use it with its sample.
However, I got stuck when I run the program BasicIacVB.
I got the following error message:
    Cannot create ActiveX component.
    When running the line
    gApp = CreateObject("AcroExch.App")
I run this program on my PC with VS2005 installed.
What extra step do I need to do to use the sdk?
Seems there's no installation package there...
Sorry about my stupid question, I am a total newbie in AcrobatSDK.
P.S.  My ultimate goal is to develop the program in VB6 (not using VB2005),
as my client PCs does not (and cannot for some reason) install .net framework.
