Can I project A windows 7 screen to my TV using ATV?

New to the Apple TV world and contemplating a purchase. Can Apple TV perform a screen share to project what's on my windows 7 PC to my TV ? Specifically I want to watch PBS.ORG shows that are only available in Flash Format (will not load on my iPad but work on my PC fine).  Before I purchase I just want to be sure I can watch those on my TV thru AppleTv.
Thanks for a great community of learning.

Unfortunately no.
iPad 2s and iPhone 4S can mirror their screens but not desktops (currently anyway).

One can mirror your PC to your TV using Google Chromecast. Can Apple TV do the same?

Thanks again for the info. I downloaded the trial version and it seems to do exactly what I wanted.

  • Can't project in windows

Macbook Pro does fine hooked up to LCD projector on Mac side of bootcamp, but on windows side there is no evidence of any connection at all. Anyone have an answer?

I have the same problem with my new MBP 17" and its ATI Mobility Radeon X1600. I used a DVI-S Video adapter. It took 30 seconds to clone my OS X Desktop on my Sharp HDTV but after 6 hours I stopped trying to connect Windows using Booot Camp.
But, what is weird, the day after I succeed connecting on two different projectors.
    Any clue ?

  • Windows Blue Screen of Death when using PC Suite

I bought an E63 recently and by it's very nature I need to be able to link it to my laptop for uploading/downloading data. Laptop's a Sony FE11S running XP SP3 which connects successfully with the E63 via cable or Bluetooth.  Trouble is, I need to import all of my contacts from the PC to the E63 but in PC Suite, as soon as I click on <contacts>  <file>  <import> it crashes bringing up the blue screen.  Tried all the latest software versions including the E63, tried the Nokia PC Suite removal tools, tried only loading essential (windows) programs and still it crashes!  It was over two weeks ago that I contacted Nokia support and all that I've received is a succession of emails (from different people each time) telling me more or less to do the same thing and ignoring my comments and questions, eg. is their a log file somewhere that would tell us where the problem lies?  Tried telephone support a couple of times, hung on for 15 minutes each time only to be cut-off . . !  Beginning to regret I bought a Nokia if this is the extent of their so called support . . . unless there's someone out there who might have a clue as to what's going on . . . any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks for that.  Screen says:
    100.21.110
    14-11-2008
    RM-437
    (c) Nokia E63-1 (223.02)
Going to "Reinstall PC Suite Support" it comes up with a message that says, "PC Suite Support is up to Date".
BUT, I have discovered that turning off Kasperski anti-virus everything springs into life without crashing!  So although I can now load my contacts, etc it would be nice to cure the problem so that I don't have to switch Kasperski off everytime I use PC Suite.  I tried putting PC Suite in Kasperski as an exception (accepted program) but that didn't help.  Any further thoughts?  Thanks.

  • Can't install Lion (Windows XP and Parallells 6 being used)

    Hi,
This is my first post here, so please forgive me if I'm not too used to the forum habits. I've been checking the discussions before, but haven't been able to find anything that matched my case...
Let me explain it to you, so that hopefully somebody knows the solution and can share it with me...
I had Mac OS X (10.6) installed in my MacBookPro.
I had also installed Windows XP with Bootcamp in a different partition.
I had also installed Paralllels Desktop 6.
    Everything worked fine.
Yesterday I decided to upgrade to Lion, and bought it in the Apple Store.
Before going ahead with the process, and as indicated by Apple, I upgraded the current Mac OS to the latest version.
I tried to install it, and after rebooting, when it was about 30 minutes to finish the installation, I got amessage saying that "MAc OS X can't be installed in the  Macintosh HD hard drive, because a recovery disk can not be created" (translated from the Spanish message)
Then, I though that maybe it was some issue with Parallels Desktop. I checked their Fourms, and indeed it seemed that it could be the reason. I upgraded to the last available version.
I tried again, and got the same message.
Then I thought that maybe I had to upgrade to the last version also with Parallels in the Windows machine. I did so, and I tried again... and again it didn't work.
I don't know what else I can do... besides deleting the Windows partition, installing Lion, and creating a new partition, in which I should install Windows 7 (as Windows XP, as it is explained, is not supported in a new partition)
I followed all the natural steps to create the partition for Windows, install Parallels, etc. I mean that I didn't do anything manually then...
The only "weird" thing that I had to do when installing Windows XP was this one:
The Windows XP that I had was Service Pack 1, and Service Pack 2 was included in another CD... Of course that's not a problem when installing Windows in a PC, but gave me a lot of troubles to install it in the Mac. I found this solution in a Forum in Internet, follow the steps, and it worked:
    (http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/running-windows-anything-else-your-mac/38166-wi ndows-xp-service-pack-2-installation-problem.html)
    1. Click Start - Run - Type “regedit” and press enter 2. Navigate to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Setup] HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    \Software
    \Microsoft
    \Windows
    \CurrentVersion
\Setup 3. In the right pane, Right-click and select New - String value 4. Name it as “BootDir” and set its value to “C”
Can this be the reason why I'm not able to install Lion now?
Anyway, and whether it is, any solution (simple, if possible, please! ;-> ) to install it?
(Buying Windows 7, deleting the partition, etc. seems very nightmarish to me)
    Thanks a lot in advance!

  • How can I open my Windows 7 firewall just for FTP use?

I originally tried this question at the regular user forums, but after no success a Microsoft Support Engineer suggested I post here.
On my Mac, if I use FileZilla to connect to an FTP (not sFTP) server, it works fine.
However, in Windows 7 or Windows 8, if I use FileZilla  or WinSCP to connect to the same server, when it gets to the point where it starts to list the remote directory I get an ECONNABORT error and get disconnected.
Here is a transcript from FileZilla:
    Command:    USER douglerner
Response:    331 User name okay, need password.
    Command:    PASS **********
Response:    230 User logged in, proceed.
    Command:    SYST
    Response:    215 UNIX Type: L8
    Command:    FEAT
    Response:    502 Command not implemented.
Status:    Server does not support non-ASCII characters.
    Status:    Connected
    Status:    Retrieving directory listing...
    Command:    PWD
Response:    257 "/" is current directory.
    Command:    TYPE I
    Response:    200 Command okay.
    Command:    PASV
Error:    Disconnected from server: ECONNABORTED - Connection aborted
Error:    Failed to retrieve directory listing
However, if I turn off the Windows firewall it works and I can use FileZilla and other FTP clients just fine.
My question is, rather than turning off the firewall altogether, how can I make an exception just for FTP, or just for FileZilla. I believe ports 20 and 21 are used depending on whether the connection is active or passive.
It isn't just me either. I was trying to help somebody else who is experiencing the exact same thing in his Windows 7. If he turns off the firewall completely FTP works. Otherwise it's the same error. He is on a different network altogether, in a different
country. Neither of us are behind proxy servers. In my case, it's just my home network.
I tried the following so far:
    1. Make sure that FileZilla was listed as allowed in the firewall control panel. It was by default, so that didn't help.
    2. Creating an "inbound rule" in the advanced settings for ports 20-21. That didn't help either.
Just completely turning off the firewall lets it work.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Doug

    Hi doug,
What is your current situation? Have you solved this issue?
Here I list the several solution:
Use the network monitor the capture package related to FTP as arnavsharma mentioned.
Take a look at the article as Sebastian and Sameer Gawde mentioned.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
I think that something was damaged when you upgraded OS X. This can happen, and it looks like it happened to you. In your case, I recommend you to make a backup and reinstall Mountain Lion erasing the disk:
    1. Press Command and R keys while your Mac is starting, and open Disk Utility.
    2. Select Macintosh HD in the sidebar, go to Erase tab and erase the disk.
    3. Close Disk Utility and reinstall OS X. After installing OS X, restore your files manually and reinstall the applications
If this doesn't work, you can install Snow Leopard again:
    1. Insert the Snow Leopard disc and press C key while your Mac is starting.
    2. When the disc has started, open Utilities menu > Disk Utility, select the hard disk at the top of the sidebar, go to Erase tab and erase the disk.
    3. Close Disk Utility and install Mac OS X. After installing, open  > Software Update to install the most recent version

  • How can I project a video chat to a big screen for an audience to see?

I want to know how to project a video chat to the large screen?

    Hi,
OHP Projector that can accept computer Input
Cable suitable for Your computers output (DVI or Mini Display or Thunderbolt) to the connector on the Projector ( Possibly VGA  but may be DVI)
Set the System Preferences > Displays to Mirroring.
    Make iChat go Full Screen.
Not Some TVs can have VGA connectors.
You can also get Mini Display (And other ports) to HDMI cables.
My MacBook Pro is version 1,1 and has  DVI output and it came with a short DVI to VGA connector/Cable.
I run a second display from my Tower's second output port which is DVI through a DVI to VGA cable.
I don't use this in Mirror mode and I can drag apps or windows of apps to the Second Screen/Display.  (Effectively the Projector or TV does the same thing)

  • YOUR PC CAN'T PROJECT TO ANOTHER SCREENS

Earlier i have installed a windows 8.1 (32bit) opertiang system then i was able to use another monitor just by using a VGA cable with HDMI connector and it was perfectly working fine. Then i have installed the same OS of 64 bit now even i have installed all the drivers still not able to use the monitor each time this give error " your pc can't project to another screen" i have also installed the driver of graphics card then i cam to know through various sources that i need to update the graphics driver then i have downloded the latest graphics driver directly from the site of nvidia but still this problem persists. Please help as i have invested a lot of hours to resolve this issue but unable to do anything.

    Hi @anurag_bito9912
Welcome to the HP Support Community! I see that you are having some issue connecting your notebook to another monitor. That is a very odd issue. Where did you get Windows 8.1 32-bit to begin with, as there are no 32 bit drivers for your model? What was your original operating system?
I would recommend that you use the graphics drivers from HP instead of those from Nvidia as you have switchable graphics and they are configured by manufacturer of the notebook not the manufacturer of the notebook.

  • Premier Element 8 can't open any project on Windows 7

Once again my Premier Element 8 can't open any project on Windows  7 (64-bit).  This  is same problem that happened to me 6 months ago.  I reported it to the online  Adobe support, but got no help.  Eventually I worked around it on my  own.  Now the problem is back and I can not open any project, even after  rebooting.  The behavour that I see is that I can open a new or old  project, but the Premier window shows-up as having zero size.  The bug  has something to do with the Premier program thinking that the window  size should be zero.  The program shows-up in the active task list, and  the Alt-Tab key shows Premier window has only a window title bar (where  as other active programs show-up as a thumbnail image of their window  contents), and the system taskbar also shows the Premier program as active but only as a window title bar (see attached image below)
When  I reported to the online Adobe support forum 6 months ago that I had worked around  the problem, the answer was something like "good that you fix it", BUT Adobe  did not seem to be interested in understanding and fixing the problem.  They just seem relieved when customers can figure-out work-around on  their own.  I see that another peron just reported this same problem on the Adobe forums, and got the same treatment.  He also found a work-around, and the support person replied when "that's nice".  This really bites me where it hurts.  I'm burning  non-productive hours because of their bugs, and they don't care enough  about the bugs to get engineering to fix them.  It's things like this  that make me look for another software vendor.
But today I really do need to work on my video project.  If there is a document work-around for the "Premier show a zero-sized window" bug, PLEASE let me know about it.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide,
    -- Ole Pa

    Hi Steve,
Thanks for looking at this on Saturday, and for your question.  What I mean by a "zero sized window" is that Premier's window has been created and the program is running, but when I give Premier focus nothing is shown on the screen.  I know the program is running because I can see it on the Windows taskbar, in the Alt-Tab list, and in the task manager's list of running programs.  When I use the Windows taskbar to alternately show and hide the window, it behaves normally, except when I show it nothing shows on the screen.  Also, when Premier starts up, I do see it loading the project, but when the project loads the window disappears. Premier has this annoying design of starting with its window maximized, and then automatically resizing the window to what it thinks is the size that I want.  When the bug is active, the size seems to be zero, or minimized, or off the screen, or who knows what.  Just not anything that I can see.  The little thumbnail that Windows 7 shows of running programs on the taskbar makes be think the window has been resized so that it is zero pixels wide and zero pixels high.
In my earlier report of this bug, I described it as "minimizing to the taskbar" because that is what it appeared to doing at that time.  Here is a link to my earlier report:
       http://forums.adobe.com/thread/704857
That thread has screen snapshots that show the visual atrifacts of the bug on Windows 7.  I experienced the same bug again this morning.  The workaround that I had done last year did not work this morning.  Here is what I did to recover this time:
Uninstalled Premier Elements 8.  Deleted my personal setting, and also "smart sound".
    Rebooted my PC.
Installed Premier Element 8 from the CD.
    Rebooted my PC
Things were still not quite right.  In fact the bug appeared to still be there, but all of a sudden it started showing me the window after the project was loaded.  Sigh.  I will never launch that little startup program again (the one behind the desktop icon), and only open ".prel" files directly.  Not sure if that will help or not, but at least it takes one variable out of the startup procedure.
I wish that I could tell you how to reproduce the bug, but in fact I do not know what I do to provoke it.  My PC is
    - Dell XPS9000 (Intel i7, 3.33GHz, 12GB ram, 4.5 TB disk)
    - Windows 7 Ultimate
    - Two 24 inch LCD displays
    - Runs several Adobe programs (like PS, LR, Acrobat).
Don't get me wrong:  I love Adobe software.  You are the best in the graphic arts industry.  That's why I buy and run your stuff.  But when I have a deadline hanging over my head, and I have to spend 1/2 day getting the software to just come up, I get crazy and want to herd feed animals for a living!  Maybe I'll have to do that if the economy does not improve in 2011...
    Thanks, Ole Pa
