Can I publish an OS X Server hosted calendar?

Can I publish an OS X Server hosted calendar to the internet for sharing via subscription.
I would like to publish a calendar for subscription to users who are not server users within Open Directory.  Ideally they could subscribe to an .ics file via webdav.  It appears that server based calendars can only be shared with other server users.

There are a couple of things you would need to do.
Open your router to allow calendar traffic in and out of your network (be carefull about opeing any custom ports on a router as it could allow for unotherised attacks). All internal user passwords should then be strong and all traffic should be encrypted.
Have your external server.mydomain.com DNS point to a public ip address. - At your router you can rout it to the server machine (public ip's would be supplied by your ISP). This will allow external calendar subscription traffic know where to get the information from.
For invetation replies to work from outside your network to your internal network you will need to get your ISP to set up reverse pointer for your domain to point to your public ip address. This allows people outside your network to accept or decline your calendar invetation - and allows your calendar server to automatlycally post those replies in the relevent calendar.
I havnt gone into much depth with these steps because personally I have moved to using iCloud.
For all the hassle and potential risks of opening up your network I would alternativly set your users up with a free iCloud account and use the calendar service there. Super easy and it works. It also limits the potential external attacks on your network.

  • I can't publish to an ftp server.  can you help?

    G'day everyone,
    I've made a lovely iWeb site, but am having problems getting it online. I click publish and iWeb is busy for about 2 - 3 hours, eventually ending with this "PUBLISH ERROR" message:
    "There was an error communicating with the FTP server. Try again later, or check with your service provider." I've tried both suggestions, several times.
    According to my web host co. I've entered the correct server address, user name, password, path, protocol and port. They also wrote to me "in the files uploaded I dont see any "html" files? I believe you have either not saved your website in the correct format or have failed to upload some content. Please also note that you should (from what I can see) only be uploading files in the jazzpiano.com.au" folder on your MAC to the public_html dir. Not uploading the dir jazzpiano.com.au" itself."
    you can see what I have uploaded at http://www.jazzpiano.com.au/jazzpiano.com.au/
    Any advice on how I can get iweb to publish to ftp properly would be most appreciated. It publishes fine to my local folder.

    What your hosting service is telling you is correct. You have uploaded the folder - jazzpiano.com.au - and not the files inside it. This is a limitation of the iWeb FTP and why you should follow Ethmoid's suggestion of publishing to a local folder and uploading the contents of the folder produced by iWeb using an FTP application like Cyberduck.
    The movies appear to be uploaded to the server....
    http://www.jazzpiano.com.au/jazzpiano.com.au/Media/clip-2010-05-30%2022%3b19%3b1 6.mov
    http://www.jazzpiano.com.au/jazzpiano.com.au/Media/clip-2010-05-30%2022%3b27%3b1 2.mov
    .... but may not be loading in the browser due to spaces and special characters in the filename. Simplify this - 30%2022%3b27%3b12, load them into iWeb again and republish.

  • Can not publish cal to private server

    I'm trying to publish a calendar to a private server. I've double checked all of the info, the url, the server is wedDAV enabled (so they say). I use Earthlink as my web hosting isp. Is there anyone out there that has done this successfully? The error message that I get is... "it is not a valid location for this request"
    Help.
    mb

    So they say? Hmm…
    Here are some outdated but still applicable instructions to do so under Mac OS X here:
    http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/a/network/2000/11/10/osxwebdav/osxwebdav.html
    You might use these instructions simply for background on the technology, or as a checklist to setting up your own server.
    Your digitally challenged friends with PCs can publish calendars to the same server if they use either Mozilla Sunbird, or the Calendar component available with Firefox. More information about both is available here:
    http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/sunbird.html
    That original link explained how to set up a WebDAV server on an OS X box. If you want your ISP to provide those services, you'll have to contact them to arrange it. If you're attempting to configure these services on a server provided by Earthlink, you'll have to have them help you. Typically, an 'outsider' cannot configure such services unless a predetermined set of procedures to do so are in place, and you have been given the required access.

  • Can't publish - no response from server

    I can no longer publish any of my websites. I keep getting the message 'no response from server' for all of them. I have waited a few hours, same result. I have unistalled and reinstalled Muse - still nothing.
    As it currently stands, all of my websites are now toally useless - and I have major updates to make.
    Everything was fine until I updated the product, now its totally redundant. What a 'helpful' update.
    What can you do to fix the killer update Adobe?

    Hi Aish
    I am having the same problem!  We only have one website on a BC server (the rest are non BC sites hosted on our own server), but when I select the option from the File menu to: Sync with Adobe Business Catalyst site... the following message is displayed:
    Could not sign in to Adobe Business Catalyst. Check your network connection and try again. If this problem persists, try again later.
    We received this message yesterday as well, so waiting is not the answer and I definitely have internet access, as all other internet related services work, e.g. email, browser, ftp etc.
    The site that I am trying to sync is: http://www.mendipspringgolfclub.com/
    Is this all the info you require to provide some help?
    Very many thanks for your assistance.

  • Can not publish the contains of the activeX container to the web.

    It is easy to publish the front panel to the webserver. But in my application everything on the front panel appears on the web page but the contains of the activeX container (it is images from a web camera!). Does any one knows how to solve this? Is there any restriction on what objects on front panel can be publish to the web server?

    I know that you can publish the contents of an activeX container. I have done it several times. It is probably something to do with the activeX control you have placed in it. For instance, it might be that the image from the web camera is updating when the snap of the front panel is taken so that the image of the container seems blank. It also might have something to do with the picture depth you are using. Try playing around with some of the publishing settings you have available such as monitor, snap, refresh rate, picture depth, etc and see if any of them have any effect.

  • Can I publish my company's website to our server/host?

    My boss asked me to create a website for company, now I have to publish it. Our company is located in Taiwan so we want to use local server. Now we've already had the domain name and rent the server, how can I publish the site to that server?

    Hi
    To host the site in your server, you can use upload via ftp function under files menu option in Muse.
    Enter FTP details and then upload the site to your server, another way would be to export as html and then upload the files to server root.
    This document will help you :

  • Site deosn't look right in third party hosting and can't publish to catalyst in muse

    the muse export site looked horribly different than in muse. http://www.shopdaisygirls.com/
    and this is what the site is supposed to look like, which it does in muse alone like so...
    as well, I can not publish the site even to catalyst from muse as pictured above, it says there was no response from the server. Check you network connection (which is running fine) and try again.  I've been trying again, alot.  how do I publish correctly to the third party hosting or even to catalyst

    It appears that the master css file is missing. Try this and see if it helps. Ensure you are using the latest version of muse.  Under the edit menu choose preferences and switch user and sign in with your AdobeID.  Re-export the html and upload it to your server.
    Let me know if it helps.

  • How can I publish an ics file to a remote server from my calendar server?

    I am running Lion Server and have Calendar Service up and running. I have an account with a couple of calendars, one of which I'd like to publish to a remote server, as an .ics file.
    From an iCal client it is possible to publish local calendars, but not remote calendars (for which the only option seems to be to 'Share').
    How can I can I publish an ics file to a remote server? Programatically, if necessary.

    I have this working now.
    curl -s --digest -u username:password -o calendar.ics http://hostname:8008/calendars/users/username/calendar/
    generates the .ics file, and a combination of cadaver (from webdav.org) and an expect script upload hourly (via cron) to the remote server:
    set timeout 60
    spawn /usr/local/bin/cadaver
    expect "dav"
    send "open https://remotehost/path/\r"
    expect "Do you wish to accept the certificate? (y/n)"
    send "y\r"
    expect "dav"
    send "put calendar.ics\r"
    expect "dav"
    send "close\r"
    expect "dav"
    send "quit\r"

  • Can a VI publish on a remote server?

    I'm trying to perform a small expirement - I would like a control in a VI on one computer to publish and subscribe to another control in a different VI on a different computer on the same LAN.(and vice versa) The idea is to be able to manipulate both controls from either computer.(each control should track the other)
    I have a VI on computer A and a VI on computer B. Both computers are on the same LAN.
    Each VI consists of a single numeric control.
    I setup the control on VI A to publish and subscribe to dstp://computerA/new.
    I setup the control on VI B to publish and subscribe to the same URL, dstp://computerA/new.
    Datasocket server is running on A.
    The control on B reflects all changes on A,as I ha
    d hoped. However changes in B are not reflected on A. My guess is this is because there is no datasocket server running on B. What I was hoping was that I could publish remotely - have computer B publish on computer A's datasocket server.
    So one might say "Start a datasocket server on computer B too." The problem is, when you right-click a control in a VI and select Data Operations>>Datasocket Connection and then choose the connection type to be Publish and Subscribe - you have to Publish and Subscribe to the same location. as above, this would be dstp://computerA/new So if I want to subscribe to the dataitem new on remote computer A, I can't publish locally anyway.
    Is what I'm trying to do w/ datasockets even possible? If it can be done and you know how, please help. If you don't think it can be done this way but have a better approach, that info would also be much appreciated! Also if you have any questions feel free to email me.
    Thanks,
    Jim
    [email protected]

    One problem I see is that they are both writing to the same connection and at the same time. Multiple servers shouldn't make any difference. And instead of using front panel DataSocket, use the separate write and read VIs. Maybe you would want to put continuous reads in each VI but only publish when there is a change?

  • How can one invoke a WebLogic EJB from a BPEL Server hosted on OC4J?

    How can one invoke a WebLogic EJB from a BPEL Server hosted on OC4J?
    Reason I ask is I keep getting this error:
    javax.naming.NoInitialContextException: Cannot instantiate cla
    ss: weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory [Root exception is java.lang.ClassNotF
    oundException: weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory]
    Note: I am using <bpelx:exec> as a way to execute some java program.
    Essentially my java client (essentially an EJB client hosted on Oc4J) needs access to wlclient.jar since it needs access to weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory. I have a EJB client running on BPEL server hosted on Oc4J that needs to access some EJBs hosted on weblogic.
    Where do I place this wlclient.jar so that BPEL PM can start peacefully and at runtime discover the InitialContextFactory classes?
    Placing it in the j2ee/home/applib doesn't solve the problem. The server fails to start up if I do this
    I tried placing it in BPEL-INF\lib directory ...
    I still get the same exception...see below for exception dump
    I verified the BPEL suitcase, and it in fact does contain the jar file wlclient.jar
    integration\orabpel\domains\default\deploy contains the bpel_BPELProcess2_1.0.jar file and snapshot of that is as follows:
    <PRE>
    &#9474; bpel.xml
    &#9474; BPELProcess2.bpel
    &#9474; BPELProcess2.jpr
    &#9474; BPELProcess2.wsdl
    &#9474; bpel_BPELProcess2_1.0.jar
    &#9474; build.xml
    &#9474; buildxml.copy
    &#9474; graphics.xml
    &#9474;
    &#9500;&#9472;&#9472;&#9472;BPEL-INF
    &#9474; &#9492;&#9472;&#9472;&#9472;lib
    &#9474; myEJB.jar
    &#9474; wlclient.jar
    &#9474;
    &#9500;&#9472;&#9472;&#9472;META-INF
    &#9474; MANIFEST.MF
    &#9474;
    &#9492;&#9472;&#9472;&#9472;output
    bpel_BPELProcess2_1.0.jar
    </PRE>
    I tried using the BPEL-INF\jar directory...Is this something the obant automatically detects? or do I have to modify the build.xml? I created this directory and let Jdev deploy to local BPEL server->default domain handle it
    #####################3
    I even tried copying the wlclient.jar to
    integration\orabpel\system\classes but this doesn't help since the BPEL PM fails to start if I explode this jar into this directory.
    In short,where do I place the wlclient.jar so that this exception can be contained.
    I edited the build.xml to point to the jar, that too didn't work, unless I made some mistake in the file
    <bpelc classpath="${basedir}/BPEL-INF/classes;${home}/system/classes;${home}/lib/j2ee_1.3.01.jar;${basedir}/BPEL-INF/jar/wlclient.jar" input="${basedir}/bpel.xml" rev="${rev}" deploy="${deploy}" />

    with the bpelx all I have is two lines of code that creates a java object and calls a method on it.
    The method does this:

        private String providerUrl = "t3://localhost:7001";
        private String urlPkgPrefixes = "";

        public String getDefaultMapName() {
          try {
              Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
              env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, getInitialContextFactory());
              env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, getProviderUrl());
              if (getUrlPkgPrefixes() != null && !getUrlPkgPrefixes().equals(""))
                  env.put(Context.URL_PKG_PREFIXES, getUrlPkgPrefixes());
              System.out.println("    " + getInitialContextFactory());
              System.out.println("    " + getProviderUrl());
              System.out.println("    " + getUrlPkgPrefixes());
              System.out.println("    " + getEjbName());
              // Get a naming context
              context = new InitialContext(env);
               Object ms  = context.lookup(getEjbName());
              MyEJBHome home = (MyEJBHome ) PortableRemoteObject.narrow(ms, MyEJBHome.class);
              myEjb = home.create();
              return myEjb.getDefaultName();
          } catch (RemoteException re){
              System.out.println(re.getCause().getMessage());
          catch (Exception ex) {
              ex.printStackTrace();
          return null; //if unable to resolve the context factory etc...
        }

    I did exactly as you suggested. I edited the application.xml and added this
    <library path="C:\ArcGIS\test\bea\wlclient.jar"/>
    I didn't add weblogic because the needed classes were all in wlclient.jar
    I also edited the BASE_OB_CLASSPATH to include this jar.
    Here is the result when I just start BPEL PM Server. Somehow BPEL PM doesn't like to have wlclient.jar in its classpath during startup.

    I can't publish my website to the remote server, even though everything seems to be working properly with connection to the remote server.  No error messages and the successful connection message appears.  I have emptied out the Safari cache but still do not see the updates appearing on the website.  I'm working with Dreamweaver CS5.5 on a Mac Pro with Snow Leopard 10.6.8.  Very frustrating.

  • HELP I can't publish my lab homepage to my university server

    I can't publish my new homepage to my space on my University's server and I really don't understand all the other suggestions in the other threads about editing html, etc .... That's why I bought iLife in the first place....to simplify my life.
    I have 5 colleagues who are waiting for my verdict on this software before they buy it.... I need an answer ASAP, or Apple loses 5 potentail purchases .... and I'll be returning my version as well.......
    HELP!

    If you publish to a .Mac account, its a one step process.
    -Select File-> Publish to .mac
    If you publish to another server its a 2 step process
    -Select File->Publish to a folder
    You then have to ftp the folder to the web server
    I am sure folks are working on using Automator to get this scripted for ease of use.
    I think the IWeb Templates are pretty good so I don't plan on messing around with HTML at this time. I can live without the web counter and with the slide show pop ups for now
    Here is my site on my own server

    You CAN'T download published files and then edit them in iWeb because iWeb can't open them - it has no import facility so is unable to open any html or css files - a previously published site.
    You can download these files yes, but you'll need to use them as a guide or to cut and paste text from there whilst you re-build your site in iWeb.
    The only other way is to download the files and then open them with an html editor such as TextWrangler or use one of the other web design programmes out there that is capable of importing html and css such as Dreamweaver of Flux 4.
    These are your only alternatives as iWeb can't import and if you want to continue to use iWeb, then you'll have to re-build your site from scratch.  If you do just remember to back up your domain.sites file this time around - it is found under your User/Library/Applicaion Support/iWeb/domain.sites.
