Can I purchase multiple copies of the same song

I want to purchase multiple copies of the same song to avoid copyright issues if I make a mixed cd and give it away.

As above, Apple's official advice is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library, however it is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve/merge ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed)

How can I remove multiple copies of the same song from the iTunes listing. The program seems to be picking up the same songs from, for example, my user area and my public area in the C drive

  • How to purchase multiple copies of the same song for different people?

I am planning a children's musical and wanted to know how to handle this situation. Say I wanted 30 copies of a song to put on CD's for the kids to take home and practice. How do I handle that purchase? I want to legally be able to make 30 copies of a song for 30 different children. Where do I start? Thanks!

If you are in the USA and are using the songs as part of a non-profit educational institution, the rules governing the use of copyrighted material are different from other uses. Do a web search on the "Technology, Education and Copyright Harmonization Act of 2001," also known as the TEACH Act, or ask the legal advisor of your school.

  • HT202213 how can i remove multiple copies of the same songs in Itunes? When transferring from a drive to an other I got my library copied 3 times creating more than 12 000 songs!!!

    See below

Generally setting a common Album title and Album Artist will fix things.
For compilations that aren't, select all tracks, Get Info, and on the option tab set Part of a Compilation to No. If it already says No tick the box alongside, then click OK.
For deeper problems see Grouping tracks into albums.

no - you simply have to select the option to print mucliples of a photo on a page
select the photo and go to the file menu ==> print - select the printer, paper size and print size and click customize - in the tool bar click on the settings icon (the gear looking thingy) and select "multiple of the same photo per page" and the preview will reflect this option showing a full page of the selected size photos

  • Why do I have multiple copies of the same song?

When I open my iTunes on my iPad I have multiple copies of the same song.  It seems that when I connect and sync to my computer that it does not recognize that the song is already on my iPad, so it sends another copy.  When I try to delete the second copy from my iPad by swiping to the left and hitting delete, it doesn't delete and I see the cloud icon like it wants to down load if from the cloud automatically again.  How can I clean this mess up?

    Hi R_3S,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like your Music application is showing your previously purchases music, with the cloud icon, on your iPad as well as what is synced onto it. Please follow the instructions in the following article to turn off Show All Music.
    iTunes Match - iPhone
    http://help.apple.com/iphone/7/#/iph6e2dfb83
Just show music that’s been downloaded from iCloud. Go to Settings > Music, then turn off Show All Music.
    Have a great day,

  • ITunes Match and multiple copies of the same song

I have multiple copies of the same song in my iTunes collection.  For example, the song is on the original album, the "Best Of" album and on the "25th Anniversary" album.
Do we know how iTunes Match handle such situations?

  • How do I purchase multiple copies of the same title for my class of students to download?

I need to purchase 60+ copies of the same title to use in my classroom. Normally my school purchases paperback copies of books, but now that I all of my students have iPads, I would like to purchase the eBook and then have them download it. Any ideas on how best to do this?

    What version of iPhoto?
The general process is to select the photo and print, select the printer, paper size and print size and click customize and under settings selec multiples copies of a photo (the preview will reflect this choice) and click print to print, make any printer specific selections and click print to print

  • Can I open multiple copies of the same book?

I am reading a more technical book. It would be helpful to have multiple pages opened at the same time (for the purpose of reference)
Is it possible to open more than one copy of the same book?
I know that I can open the book on my iPad or iPhone, but I would like to open them both on my Mac.

I used to be able to print multiple copies of the same picture on one page using iphoto. There was a customise button when you went through to print and it was there somewhere. I can't see it anymore - maybe since an upgrade.
It's gone. But as a work-around, duplicate your photo (⌘D) to create as many versions as you want copies and select all at once. Then use the "Custom" print layout and set the photo size you want.
After printing, trash the added versions.

  • Multiple copies of the same song iPad 2

I recently purchased two items on iTunes - a full cd from my MacBook and a single from my iPhone.
However, on my iPad, in the "Recently Added" playlist, it shows that each song has a duplicate copy. But, these copies cannot be swiped to be deleted and will not go away no matter how many times I sync the device!
My only thought for WHY this happened is that all of my devices are connected to iCloud, and once my iPad asked for my iTunes account password to download purchases from iCloud and I clicked cancel. Ever since then those songs have had that circle with a square in the center next to them. They were like that before I even synced my iPad so the correct files could get on there.
Any ideas for fixing this? They don't seem to be taking up any memory, but they are very annoying, visually.
    Thanks!
Here's a picture so everyone can understand what I'm talking about

You should be able to do that in iTunes...just click and delete and do a sync.

  • Multiple copies of the same song

I have had to change the location of some song files and put them into itunes again. this means that itunes lists the song title twice... one with the exclamation mark stating that the file can no longer be found.
I know that there is the option for showing "duplicate" songs... is there anyway to ask the computer to delete them in one swoop without having to individually go through and delete them???

There is no way to delet all duplicates in one "Swoop" in iTunes, But there are scripts out there that will do this in iTunes. I Recommed going to otto42's site and downloading there Quickscripts, this is a colletion of scripts. once installed/run you will hit the button "Remove dead tracks". here the link http://ottodestruct.com/blog/2006/01/

  • Multiple copies of the same photo on a page in iPhoto 11?

Can I print multiple copies of the same photo on a page in iPhoto 11?

    Try the following:
1 - put the photo in an album and duplicate it as many times as the number of prints you want on a given page. This is assuming the page is US Letter (borderless).
2 - select all the prints and type Command+P (Print).
3 - in the next window select Paper Size to be US Letter (borderless).
4 - also, at the bottom of the window, select the aspect ratio and a custom size that will allow you to get all of the photos on one page.
This screenshot is for a photo that has a size ratio of 4:3, was duplicated 3 times and then printed with a custom size of 4x3 selected to get four prints on the page. You can experiment the custom size until you get the largest possible size for the 4 photos on the page.
