Can I put 2 monitors on my minimac?

Can I have 2 monitors on my mini mac?

Assuming you have a Mac mini with an HDMI port, you connect one monitor with HDMI support to the HDMI port, and a second monitor to the mini-Displayport via a mini-DisplayPort to DVI adaptor (or mini-DisplayPort to VGA adaptor, or mini-DisplayPort to HDMI adaptor).
You can get mini-DisplayPort adaptors from lots of places, including from Apple.com, Monoprice.com, etc...
NOTE: It is possible your Mac mini lists a Thunderbolt port, which will accept a mini-DisplayPort adaptor.

Apple Menu, System Prefrences, Desktop & Screen Saver, "Hot Corners..." button, You can set any of the corners to put the display to sleep.
There also, control + shift + eject, to sleep the display.

Is mountain lion can out put 10 bit colour? I nee to buy EIzo Monitor.

No. OS X cannot do it. If you want to drive an Eizo at its full 10 bits per channel you need to use a Windows PC.

  • Can I connect multiple monitors to a MBP MD102?

I have a Mid-2012 13 inch Macbook Pro MD102.  I have one external monitor connected through the mini display port but I have three more monitors laying around the house I would like to put to use.  I tried connecting them through USB adaptors but the performance was extremely slow and didn't work correctly.  Is there a solution where I can use my Macbook with more than just this one monitor?  Thanks for your help.

Yes, but how depends on what model of Mini and what kind of monitors.  Early models only had one monitor port.  Later models had a Mini-DVI port and a Mini-Displayport.  Current models have a Mini-Displayport and a HDMI port.  The Mini-DVI and Mini-Displayport can attach VGA or DVI monitors, whereas the HDMI port can't use VGA monitors.
Beyond that, you can get Matrox's DualHead2Go or a USB->VGA or USB->DVI adapter.  The Matrox product is a bit expensive and the USB adapters are a bit to slow for games and such.  So, again, the answer is "yes", but with limitations

Can i have multiple monitor with my mac mini like i do with my PC ?  2 differents screens.. not mirror.

There's lots of Mac Mini models since 2006 or so. What do you have?
Most support two monitors but how you do it is different depending on model.
    Put this phrase into Google
            dual monitors, mac mini
and you'll come up with the solution needed based on which MM you have.

  • Can I put a MacBook processor and hard drive in a PowerMacG5?

I have a late 2008 MacBook that is showing its age and wear. The battery is worn out and the keys and mouse sometimes stick. I also have a PowerMac G5 which has an older operating system, but great working keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Can I put the processor and hard drive of the MacBook into the PowerMac and have a desktop version of the MacBook.

I have an older black MacBook 2007 era and use a Henge Dock when I want to connect it to my TV with a wireless keyboard/trackpad.
you would have to check to see if this is compatible with your particular model:
    http://hengedocks.com/pages/vertical-macbook
an alternative is a stand, which would allow you to use the laptop display, in addition to another external display, on your desktop:
    http://store.griffintechnology.com/elevator
PS- I have replaced the battery in my MacBook twice now, if it starts to swell up it can interfere with the trackpad button, causing it to register the button as being held all the time, which interferes with an external mouse as well.  you can find replacement batteries here, an Apple store may not have them in stock.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/Apple/Laptop/Batteries
to hook up the monitor, you will need one of the appropriate adapters, not sure what knid your MacBook uses, my older one has the miniDVI, they make adapters to go to standard VGA or DVI monitors, there were a few different video ports on the MacBooks, you can lookup the specs of yours at www.everymac.com if you are not sure what the plug type is.

  • OM2012 – Putting a Monitor in maintenance mode

    Hi there,
I need to write a powershell script to put a Monitor in Maintenance mode. This is easily doable manually on the console whenever an alert comes up by putting the alert in Maintenance Mode.
So far I managed to make my script to put the class of the Monitor into maintenance, as per bellow
i.e. if the monitor is “Total CPU Utilization Percentage”, it would put  Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter in maintenance mode for the computer $ComputerName.
    $ComputerName = Read-Host “Enter computer name”
$MonitorName = “Total CPU Utilization Percentage”
    $Monitors=Get-SCOMMonitor -ComputerName $strComputerName | where {$_.DisplayName -eq $MonitorName}
    $Time = ((Get-Date).AddMinutes(6))
    foreach ($Monitor in $Monitors) {
    $Instance = Get-SCOMclass -name $Monitor.target.identifier.path | Get-SCOMClassInstance #| where {$_.Path -eq $ComputerName}
Start-SCOMMaintenanceMode -Instance $Instance -EndTime $Time -Comment: “Server maintenance”
I can’t figure our how to simply put “Total CPU Utilization Percentage” (or any other Monitor) in maintenance mode
    Thanks for your help !

Yes, use the "Start Maintenance Mode" Activtiy of the Integration Pack for OpsMgr.

  • Can I put these drives from my old PPC power Mac G5 in my brand new Mac Pro

My old Mac stopped working and it was time for a new one. I think the motherboard died. Can I put my old hard drives in the empty bays on the brand new Mac? I have
Seagate ES 2 750 GB Serial ATA
    Hitachi HDS722525VLSA80 SATA 250 GB
    Thanks in advance

Should not be a problem, but that doesn't mean that just having the PPC system doesn't / hasn't affected one or two users.
The safest way is to put it in a FW case of course, a way to mount it after boot up.
Run the Mac Pro as is for a day. Clone the system, may as well get started with backup and fall back if needed. Even run Apple Hardware Test. Get to know everything works, booting, monitor and everything, and that it sleeps/wakes and does all the normal things it should properly.

  • What kind of KVM switch can I use to monitor sun rack with 490s, 245s, and

    Hi,
What kind of KVM switch can I use to monitor sun rack with 490s, 245s, and T2000s ?
    Ushas Symon

It sounds like the customer and server room operator are using a Microsoft/X86 mindset. There are several selling points on using RSCs & SCs. First off are the big 3 that are easy for any good server room operator to understand: cost, space & power. If you don't have to buy a 1U Tripp-lite pull out rack KVM console ($1700) and a video card for each of your SUN servers ($400, yes SUN vid cards are $$$), you start off by saving several thousand dollars.
Next you need to let them know that you require remote access to the systems from your desk and a standard KVM doesn't allow this (with Unix, if you have to get up from your desk then its a hardware problem). They can choose to purchase a network enabled KVM, but that adds $700 to your $1700 KVM. By using the SC you will be able to administer the system remotely.
Third, remember that SUNs do not show all the critical boot information on a frame-buffer console output. If you are in diagnostic mode during boot, the monitor doesn't show results until it completes. If some process is stuck (missing NFS or fibre-channel hard mounts, memory tests, etc) then you need to be able to see it to fix the problem. Plus, console frame-buffers only give you 25 lines of output that you can't scroll back.
The only small hitch is security. The new SCs (on T5220s) have SSH built in, but the older V240s and V490s use telnet which some security people balk at. The solution that we used is to put the older system SCs on a private LAN. Access to that private LAN from our intranet is via a SSH enabled dual-homed (non-routing) workstation with local user accounts. We SSH to that workstation & then telnet to the SC on the relevant server. That solution allows me to access our servers that are 40 miles away, saving response time to solve customer problems. A crude diagram is below:
    your workstation------intranet------[dual homed, non-routing workstation]------[inexpensive switch]------[server SC]
    Good luck.

  • HT201343 Is there any way to put your monitor to sleep while you use Airplay?

I've been using Steam as virtually a home game console since I found the ability to pair my iMac with my Apple TV for Airplay. The only problem I have is there seems to be no setting for putting your monitor to sleep while you Airplay to Apple TV. Since both end up in use, I'd rather the monitor be off or I would simply just play off that, although the TV is much bigger!
Also another feature I'm not sure of is Airplaying a program while the computer is still in use. For example, I wish I could Airplay my Steam games to my TV while my girlfriend watched a movie or looked at Facebook at the same time. That would be epic.

I usually use my MBP 13 (mid 2009) in Extended Desktop mode with a Dell 17" external display (and the MBP in Clamshell mode). I have 2 questions:
    1. After putting the MBP into Clamshell (by closing the lid), on waking up the external display the latter has the wrong resolution. I discovered that I can correct this by repeating the action, ie putting it back to sleep and re-waking it. At that point, the external display is at its best (1280 x 1024). But having to do it twice is kind of annoying. How can I avoid that?
    2. Before I got my MBP, I used the same Dell display with an Acer Windows 14" notebook. The resolution on the Dell using the Acer was better than it is with the MBP. I am thinking of getting a new external display to replace the Dell, maybe a 19" or 20". Is there a particular type of display that will produce the best resolution/image with the MBP 13?
    Thanks

    Hi marglar,
I'm not sure if you can create a shortcut to put your display to sleep.
You can use this keyboard shortcut to put your mac to sleep: Option-Command-Eject.

You can seach the net for solutions like this one http://appletvvpn.com/how-to-connect-apple-tv-2-to-vpn/ another idea is to use a PC as the control and fit that with a wireless card and set up a ad hoc wireless network that the Apple TV uses.
