My owner's manual says I can only put, "PC3-10600S DDR3 1333 MHz Type RAM"
It also says I can only add two 4GB memory modules for a maximum 8 GB of memory. Yet, a website that gaurantee's fitament says I can use two 8 GB modules that are PC3-10600 (no "S" on the end) DDR3 etc... for a maximum of 16 GB. I only want to beef this thing up once, so can someone with more knowledge than me please help me out concerning this. And if possible, could you post a link to the actual memory?

Yes, it is a little confusing. If your MacBook Pro is brand new, the limit is 16GB.

Yes, but that is only because 8GB was the chip set available when they designed it. But there have been many times in Mac history when the Mac worked perfectly well with bigger chips released after the product launch. In the case of the MacBook Pro, 16GB RAM has been verified by pro users who have upgraded to 16GB without problems.

The first time I went beyond Apple spec was with the PowerBook G3, 12 years ago. Apple specced 512MB RAM, but months later it was found that the PowerBook worked fine with the new 1GB RAM kits and I ran it that way for years.
Not all models can take more RAM than originally specced, but as long as you wait for the tests to come in and say it's fine, it's fine.

Hi, it can't be upgraded (well not without some serious warranty voiding surgery to the internals). If you wanted to upgrade you would need to buy another one

I'm using OSX 10.9 Mavericks with iTunes 11.1.3 (8) 64 bits and I can't sync it with my iPhone 4 (iOS 7.0.4)
What I should to do to put some music on my iPhone?
When I try to sync some tracks from my macbook to my iphone, iTunes starts showing that are backing up, etc, but at some point it shows the message "canceling sync" and never leaves it. Only closing iTunes and starting all over again, but falling into the same problem.
There are a lot of days that I have this issue.

Are you getting any error messages? Have you used these devices previously with another computer? Please describe what exactly are you doing to "move" files to your devices.

Lion is no longer easily obtained now that Mountain Lion has been released. Mountain Lion cannot run on your model, so Lion is your end of the line for OS X. Frankly, unless iCloud is essential for you I would stick with Snow Leopard.

There are only three major drive manufacturers left standing. You choices at that 1TB size in laptop form factor are few.

I've read here on Apple's site that the 85W version will work, as you say, and that it would run cooler with a 13" Macbook - I have a 13" MBP of course but assume this would be the same with mine. I wonder if running cooler is a good thing (it sounds as if it is) and it would be better for me to get the 85W version than the 60W one?
Then I have to decide whether to pay the (extortionate as it seems to me, though I may be wrong) £65 from Apple (bearing in mind the rotten reviews here of the Apple product), or risk a cheaper alternative from Amazon UK, at around £20 (also with various rotten reviews)... I have been using a 2012 Mac pro to do HD video editing. I bought a new portable Macbook Air only to find that Maverick no longer has "open files in a new window" which I use all the time in the very large folders of video clips and royalty-free music. I asked at the Apple Store how I could get this back on the Macbook Air and they said it couldn't be done so I thought I would re-format the HD and install 10.7 on it and was notified by the Macbook Air I can't put 10.7 on that computer. Apple use to give this as an option but now they have gone more to the attitude of "Do it our way or go to ****!" In anger I went out and bought a Dell Laptop and Pinnacle Studio 17 which I have been learning to use. I have been an Apple/Mac user since 1979 and would still rather do my video editing on a Mac. Is there any way that I can force the Macbook Air to let me load in OSX 10.7 where there is still the option to "open files in a new window" or is there a way to add this to Maverick? The experts at the Madison, WI Couldn't give me any help on this.

Drive Partition and Format
1.Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
Steps 4-6 are optional but should be used on a drive that has never been formatted before, if the format type is not Mac OS Extended, if the partition scheme has been changed, or if a different operating system (not OS X) has been installed on the drive.
