Can I put apps on from PC?

So I got a BB 9300 that I don't understand LOL. DH did a drag drop thing to get some pics on it for me. But I got an app from app world, had it emailed to my regular email, downloaded it, put it in a folder in my computer and dragged and dropped it to the phone. It's listed in the phone files and when I click there's a button to download. I added some $1.99 web access to my account. Which apparently is free until I use it, then it's $1.99 for a certain amount of use. I don't understand this stuff! So even after adding that I still can't click download in the app on the phone. It says: download failed, then I click details and it says: 907 Invalid COD File not found. So do I really need to get the whole shebang plan just to get an app, or can I get it on the phone from my PC? Thanks!
P.S I have T-Mobile EvenMorePlus unlimited talk & text and by whole shebang I mean the $80 unlimited talk, text & data!

You need to install apps using AppWorld on the device. You'll need a specific "BlackBerry" data plan in order to do this.
If you don't have the specific BB data plan on your account you can only install applications using Desktop Manager (many won't work on the device without a data plan anyway, however.)
In order to install application with Destkop Manager you need to download files in .alx and .cod formats. When you have the app downloaded to a folder it should contain a file called xxxxx.alx and then one or more files labeled xxxxx.cod.
Once they're downloaded into a folder then use the Application Laoder in DM to install the application. You will use the "add" application button and browse to where you stored the xxxxx.alx file.
It's much easier to just have the data plan and download from Appworld or other online sources, however.
