I have been sent a sim card to start a new contract for my existing phone. My current contract runs out on 16th August but I will be out of the country on 16th. Is it likely to cause problems if I insert the new sim card when I'm away?Sue

You will not get a signal because roaming will not be enable on your account. And if your moving your number to this new SIM card it will not migrate to the new SIM card because you need to be on the EE network for it to move across. So yes you will have issues.

Do what Alfred has suggested and use the Personal Hotspot on a Wifi only model if you want to "share" the SIM. Or if you buy the WIFI+SIM model opt in to a data iPad plan with your carrier. If you already have data on your iPhone, some carriers "allow you to use the data plan on more than one device for a modest add on fee. Contact your carrier.

Can i put in a NZ sim card into my UK iphone?

Hey guys it may have been asked before but basically I'm from the UK but have been living in New Zealand for the past 2 years and will be going back there in a month to spend another 12months there. I bought an Iphone 4s this week, through T-mobile. Not yet turned it on or activated it yet, my question is, if I turn it on and insert my NZ Vodafone SIM into the phone, wil it be then locked to my NZ network(which I want) despite being in the UK.
Or should I just put my T-mobile sim in and hope that it accepts my Vodafone NZ sim as well, or buy a Vodafone UK sim card, put that into the phone with the belief that I will be able to put my Vodafone NZ sim into it with no problem.
At the time of writing I am in the UK, I just want to get the all clear or good advice, as I will be living in NZ therefore want this phone to be activated/locked to a NZ sim card.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Accoprding to Apple's information, all UK phones are sold as locked to the carrier you got it from, so yours is ALREADY locked to T-Mobile (activation has nothing to do with whether a phone is sold as locked or not).
However, it looks like, from Apple's listing, that they also support unlocking, but you will need to contact them about doing that. There may be restrictions, like so many months under contract first, or a fee, or whatever rules they apply to unlocking. Or there may be none and you just need to ask them to do it.
Regardless, you need to contact T-Mobile and ask them about how to get an unlock request processed by them. And do it before you leave - much more difficult to deal with once you are far removed from their network.

To be honest not being able to send or recieve messages and data is a carrier issue, not a phone issue since u said that your calls are working, if i were you my first course of action would be to get a new sim card from virgin mobile, or to restore the device as new one more time, if you restore the device as new AND get a new sim card from your carrier and those features still dont work, i would take the device to an apple store

I recently left my phone in a public bathroom and when I went back it was gone. So I believe someone has taken it and has turned it off. The thief could have restored the iPhone which would cause it to no longer appear in Find My iPhone in iCloud, but it won't be usable. People steal them because either the thief is ignorant about Activation Lock, or they depend on buyers looking for a deal will be ignorant, which if you look at the many posts here from people who've bought an iPhone from a stranger and encountered Activation Lock is proof that such ignorance still abounds.

Theoretically - you can put as many photos on the iPad as you have storage capacity left. The number of photos will vary depending upon what else you have on the iPad.

If you have the CCK (camera connection kit sold by Apple) and that is what you want to do, that is one option. You can import the photos to your computer as well when you get home.

If there is no other option, you can cut the old SIM and rub it down to make it thinner, but be prepared for it not to work and the SIM ruined..

That is OK. To activate iPhone you need a SIM Card from the Carrier the iPhone is locked to. It takes just moments for iTunes to activate the iPhone, once activated you can put the SIM Card back into the 4S when you like.

The iPhone must be activated with O2. The SIM card used is "married" to the iPhone's IMEI number, so if the iPhone ships in the UK with a new SIM card pre-installed, there isn't any benefit to using your existing SIM card for the activation process unless your SIM card stores contact info which the iPhone can import. The iPhone can import contact info from the SIM card regardless if the SIM card is used for the activation process.
